View Full Version : Symbol of Fleetwood Mac
I know this may be a silly question, but please keep in mind, I started liking Fleetwood Mac in 1997 during time of The Dance. For some reason the penguin seems to be a symbol of FM. How did it become their symbol? Also, do they have any other symbols, something that you see reminds you of the Mac?

The Penguin is the symbol of Fleetwood Mac because John likes penguins, in particular, the Adelie penguin. He has one tatooed on his arm-look carefully in some of the pics of him and you can see it. John also either has or had a boat named the Adelie=:-)

The pic on the cover of the Chain boxed set is a great one of John's tattoo. I remember reading somewhere that he spent a lot of time at the zoo, observing the penguins, he's fascinated w/ them.
Stevie kinda adopted the penguin look w/ her top hat and tails, particularly during the Mirage era - I've always loved that look on her.

The other symbol that we see on the 88 GH cover and on the bottom of the Year of Fleetwood Mac ad is the Orange Blossom which I understand was Chris' idea in relation to a 'vision' her psychic mother had about Christine finding fortune amongst orange blossoms (ie California).
