I haven't heard them yet.. I am trying not to be too tempted. I really want to be surprised by this new album, but want to hear it in its entirety. For now, I will just keep on listening to Peacekeeper and try not to go to the website for a sneak peak at the others...lol I will take your word for it that they are great! Just more stuff to look forward to and more anticipation for me.

Yes on the first listen Destiny Rules didn't rub too well because of Stevie's voice and the lyrics (sounds harsh but it's honest)

Then surprisingly on the second listen without any effort at all I really dug it. Great song. The only qualm at all I have is with The Chain guitar elements. But I love that dobro part so much that having it revisited hardly qualifies as a qualm!

And of course Say You Will is just .... terrific!

OK I think I've finally figured out how to use the non-hotmail email. I'm sending it to the first person in the thread who supplied their email and a request. Destiny Rules is gorgeous...but why does the melody of the verses have to be so similar to Street Angel and TISL? Well, I still love it. It IS very honest.
Say You Will doesn't seem to have much of a melody. That one's gonna take time to grow on me. This is so exciting. I love these clips. Thank you so much for seing them to me, Kate!

Say You Will is the catchiest SN or FM song I have heard in a very long time. It was too hard to really get it from the That 70's Show clip. This is the Stevie/FM song I've been waiting for since Gypsy - and that's 20+ years!

To me Destiny Rules has a Space Needle sound to it - faster of course.:D

This happens when a newer machine saves an audio file and another machine tries to play it. Say you have a wave file and you use MS software to save it as an mp3. It stamps a machine ID on it and if another machine plays it you get this message.

Bob, Do you have Winzip? To be able to open a zip file you have to have Winzip. If you do not have it, you can go to www.winzip.com and download it.

Oh yea, definitely.....this version is MUCH better. I guess it was the layering or "wall of sound" mentioned in another thread that kind of turned me off to the song. I think it has a "Gypsy-like" sound to it now..... very cool. And Stevie's vocals are a lot more focal in the song...she sounds awesome, better than she did on TISL.

I think i like "DR" a little more but just because i like the darker stuff...I understand about Stevie's voice sounding a bit harsh but it really only dawned on me for a second...i got over it. i'm really pleased so far with what i've heard and i am REALLY looking forward to the new record. I can't wait to hear the rest!!!

By the way, does "Say You Will" remind anyone of "Angel" a little bit???

Eversince I heard the beat to it in the VBOFM enhanced disc it reminded me of Angel. Like Stevie said about the song on the Tusk Doc and how she wanted to make a "Good time rock and roll song" SYW sounds just like that!

RIGHT?!?!?! i'm glad i'm not just nuts!!! i especially love the chord change during "if i can't get you to dance"...i think this song provides a really good balance to Stevie's other compositions on the record.

Absolutely! It's exactly what I was thinking - that guitar riff, the loose arrangement and the overall funkiness is reminiscent of "Angel". This should be a killer live - imagine if Stevie did that little dance she does at the end of "Angel" during the Tusk Documentary? I would just die for that. It would also be cool if "Say You Will" segued into "Angel" ala "Outside The Rain"/"Dreams". Here's hoping.

OMG I'd die if they did Angel live!!!! That segue idea is awesome.
I didn't make the connection between Say You Will and Angel...I actually thought the harmony in the new verse of Thrown Down reminded me a bit of the harmony in the live Angel from the Tusk doc.

And what beautiful, simple lyrics. I especially love: "It always seems to heal the wounds/If I can get you to dance."

I don't think the verse measures up, however, and that's a bit disappointing. It's not bad, it's just kind of bland. I think if they had put a bit more work into the verse melody, they would have had a major hit on their hands _ at least on AC radio. But who knows... maybe the chorus will be enough to win people over.

I can understand that people might not like the verses because they are kind of monotonal, and the notes don't vary much, but I think what she's singing has an incredibly catchy rhythm to it. And what's going on in the instrumentation under the vocal is exciting also. So the combined rhythms make the song exciting for me as a whole, and IMO the lack of note variations in the verse only makes the chorus better, I guess. But ever since I heard it last night for the first time I've been walking around everywhere singing "that you love because you become someone else in an instant" that part sticks in my head more than the chorus actually. So catchy!

As from what I've heard (the 2min snippet): Yes his part is in there but you can hardly understand it and realize him as it is mixed in the background and Stevies voice drowns him out.
