View Full Version : Thrown Down on fleetwoodmac.com
So....we're getting this little snippet on the site which sounds a lot different than the version we all have...My question is, do you think the album version is like the website's version or do you think the the "leaked" version is the final? Personally, i like the fleetwoodmac.com version a little better.

I certainly hope it has that vocal instead of the Wall of Sound demo/finished product I get last month. But, again, any Stevie is better than no Stevie:D

Are you talking about the music thats playing when Stevie's recording vocals?
Why do people think it's a different version? You dont just jump into the studio one day and come out with a finished product.
That clip could have been taken during an early stage of recording.

Alternative (iii) -
The glossy wall of sound is the single version and the Lindsey/FM sounding one is the album version (fingers crossed...)

i don't think i was saying it was a different version...i understand the recording processes and, yes, this could have been a working version. i'm not sure though. that's why i was posting this thread. The instrumentation and rhythm IS different which kind of makes it a different version.
Also, what is this "Wall of Sound" you guys are referring to?
Thanks

When a recording of Thrown Down came available in January (?) 2003, a big discussion happened on these boards regarding the style of the music of the song. Somone referred to the big, full sound of the song we heard as "wall of sound." I took that to be a reference to a "sound" created and/or largely influenced in the 1960's (?) by Phil Spector. In a nutshell, I think it refers to layering of many different instruments (and perhaps vocals) to achieve a fuller sound than could be achieved by the four members of Fleetwood Mac live and on their own. I could be mistaken about this however. So, if anyone knows a different or more technical definition of "wall of sound," I will gladly stand corrected, etc. :D  ;)
Well count me in as one who hopes the "leaked version" we've heard doesn't end up on the album. Maybe it is the "wall of sound" or overproduction of the song that I don't like about it. When I heard Stevie singing it stripped down on fleetwoodmac.com it appealed to me much more. What a set of pipes!
