Greetings,
I am looking for an answer to a question about Fleetwood Mac and a local dj told me that someone here should be able to help. I was listening to our classic rock station and the dj said Christine McVie is no longer with the band because she is now in the restaraunt business. I e-mailed the same dj and he said he read it in an article somewhere, but I can't find any information on this, so can anyone validate the claim?
Thanks!

and welcome to "the Ledge"...
Christine in the restaurant business? That would be a funny picture if it were true...But she is (supposedly) recording a solo album at this time from the reports I've read...Maybe someone else could give their input about this...Brian J.
ps-Check out this thread for info on Christine:

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the information. I had no idea Christine was working on a solo album. I would rather have her in the band, but a solo album is better than no album.

Hi Brandy,
Welcome to The Ledge. I wonder if that is just a errant rumour?!
All I have heard is that she is working a solo album. I don't think any fans have ever heard her express aspirations of running a restaurant. It is feasible, perhaps, that she could be a financial partner in a such a business. She is in England now. Maybe it's a pub? But even that seems so out of left field. Interesting tidbit though. Maybe she'll even go the way of Linda McCartney (RIP) and launch her own line of frozen dinners! If you hear anything more from that DJ, such as Christine taking up tap dancing or building a theme amusement park...let us know! It's entertaining!

Here it is....

And Knight's post:
3/04 UPDATE: Everyone is buzzing about the Amazon.com announcement of a "Say You Will" Limited Edition 2 CD Set. Here's the Official position on this:
IT DOES NOT EXIST!
This product, which would include extra songs not on the "Say You Will" single (approved and real) CD, MAY become real in the future, but it is not currently authorized according to our contacts at WBR and Artist Management.
If a deal is struck to authorize this, we'll announce it here and in all Official sites and provide you with a way to get it. As of tonight, our contacts state that extra songs have NOT been delivered to WBR for this "CD Set" nor have the artists been consulted about WHAT these extra songs would be.
We'll provide more information as we get it. For now - I'd say hold onto your cash and resist the temptation to order the Phantom CD until you get confirmation that the project has a green light.

While Amazon.com isn't infallible, I have to wonder why they would wait so long to put *any* info about the album on their site, only to jump the gun about a limited edition version.
Makes me think they know something that the other site doesn't know.
But who knows.

I hope you're right, Johnny Stew. I'd hate for my husband to kill me for nothing. I mean, I'd at least like to have the cd, ya know? lol!
I am sooo trying not to get frustrated by all this...but there is so much info coming from all directions, and nothing is being confirmed! It's just making me crazy.
I hope we don't end up getting screwed by this fanclub thing as well as this "double phantom cd". :)

Like someone else said in another thread, it will probbaly be a CD/DVD pack. I have a feeling the DVD may just be a straight copy of what they plan to sell as a DVD later in the year on it's own though, hopefully not. :)
Knight probably says "it doesn't exist" because "in his mind", it's "not a lie" to say that because it's not 2 CD's so if it does come out as a CD/DVD pack then he can say if questioned about it "Well I did say it wasn't going to be 2 CD's" even though he knows very well what we mean. He's probably scared because he knows he'll lose out on sales of the CD over there (& FM.com) with this as well as the Japan "extra track" version that will come out too.
It does seem a common thing now to put out CD/DVD packs with Tom Petty's "The last DJ" CD coming with a DVD, the "Divas Las Vegas" CD came with a DVD (which was a copy of what they were selling as the DVD on it's own hence why I think this may be what FM are doing if we know that they are planning to release a DVD on it's own later in the year) and Amy Grant's "Legacy...hymns and faith" CD came with a DVD as well.
So it's up to you guys of course but I'd consider keeping your orders in. JMHO though. :)
Oh and I should say here, Hi Brandy and welcome to the ledge! :) If I remember correctly George Hawkins said something about Christine having a pub/bar or something in his Q & A here though I don't know if he meant one that she was "working" in or what but that's the closest that I know of that she's come and yeah here's hoping she gets the album deal sorted out and releases that solo album soon. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if this rumour about a restauarant or pub is true, because I remember reading on a Christine fan site about how she loved cooking, and is no doubt very good at it too.
Now that she has some more time on her hands, it wouldn't surprise me at all that someone of her creative energy, artistic flair, and personability, would see her pursue something in the culinary/hospitality area.
Now that's a restaurant/pub I'd like to visit!... Next to Stevie's fajita round-up ;)
But on the other hand, I didn't realise she had any entrepeneurial ambition (the kind of which Mick seems to have a chronic case) - but shows how much we know!
What's the deal with people's desire to own a restaurant??? I must say I really do not understand it at all (but I guess I've worked as a waiter too long!!!;) )

It has to be a pub. She has to play the piano. She has to drink wine and smoke while doing so!!!!!!!  :D Maybe the DJ got this from all that talk of recipe trading going on between the McVie ex's :D
Also, see, my faith in Space Needle is not that unwarranted as it could be on the phantom CD/DVD/amazon.com thing;)

Christine owning a restaurant is certainly within the realm of possibilities. I'll have to look for it next time I'm in the UK.
As for the double-CD fiasco, save your money, folks. There's a lot of smoke and mirrors going on with this release. I'm beyond getting angry anymore. All I can say is I'm not parting with the money to go to a concert. I've grown pretty weary of crowds, especially in New York where there's a lot of edginess, and I just don't want to sit through a show of mostly songs I've already seen them play in concert.
We should just fight back by making copies of whatever "extra" or "bonus" songs or CDs are released and sharing with one another. Pluck these people!
