I kind of wish I never heard the original. Somehow, "take no prisoners, break their will" doesn't sound right.!!
Amazing harmonies though...can't wait to hear this album

I have a few days left on a free trial subscription to AOL, but i idiotically uninstalled AOL on Thursday, when I called to cancel... so... is there a link to their First Listen page?
Thanks,
Johnny Stew

I'm sure that someone who has webspace will put it up for those of us who don't have AOL. (twiddles thumbs...):(
WOW...it's classic Mac for sure! The harmonies between Stevie and Lindsey are incredible and it is pretty much a duet as Stevie's vocals run through the entire song. Lots of little instrumentation things going on.... typical of what you'd hear on TITN...very cool. I think this is a song that's going to just grow on you the more you listen to it. Right now the feedback, and I know it's early but 42% like it, 32% hate it, and 26% love it.
Sorry Brian no link. It even has Lindsey saying AOL first listen a few times through the song. :)

So it's sort of "watermarked"? Well, now I don't feel so resentful about the error message I got when I tried to use my brother's aol account to hear it "content not available for mac" or something like that. Kind of ironic, huh? Can't her the Mac on my Mac.
Wednesday Wednesday Wednesday.

By the way I ripped this from M$ck's board..
The mix is quite ok, Lindsey is indeed panned to the left and Stevie to the right. Yes there's a little of TITN here.. that spanish guitar.. & some Go Insane also! (some weird voice effects). I think the guitars are superb overall, much better than the solo one in my opinion..

It worked! Thanks so much, xhector! :D
I loved it... and you know, i wasn't sure what I thought about Lindsey changing the line from "take no prisoners, only kill," to "take no prisoners, break their will"... BUT, i think i'm actually liking that line better now, the more i listen to it.
Thanks again!

Thanks for posting the link! I love the song :D ! I'm really glad that this is going to be the first single since it is basically a duet and it pushes the Buckingham/Nicks aspect of the new album. I really really really really hope that this single does well. It deserves success because it rocks in comparison to half the other new crap out there.

I agree!! "Take no prisoners, break their will" sounds a little strange to me after listening to the other version for so long.
The harmonies are fantastic! But I would have loved to hear Stevie harmonies on the other, less "produced" version, from the ACLU CD. I enjoy songs where the emphasis is more on Stevie and Lindsey's voices without all the extra distracting stuff (example: "I Don't Want to Know"). JMO.
Who is helping with the background vocals? Sheryl Crow??
For those who don't have AOL, you should pick up one the those free software CDs that you can find almost anywhere. You can get a free month of AOL artist of the month, THE MAC, and then cancel at no cost. I can't think of a better month to use a free trial!

Well is stated my opinons on the other thread..as much as i love Stevie..i liked this song better with her not in it as much...the lyric change is also weird to me..but i like the guitar at the end...all in all..I don't hate the song...i just think it is a bit too much..
p.s.that is NOT Lindsey saying "AOL First listen"...it is some other guy and they do that for all the new songs they preview :)
I converted to MP3, so those of you have trouble can listen too.
Dunno about the quality...

The server is a bit fickle... Keep trying it. It will work sooner, or later. If it gets a heavy load it hangs. I have to format it and reinstall, but haven't the time at the moment.

For those of you who can't get the AOL link to work --
I couldn't get it to work at first either and it was becuase I didn't have Real Player installed on my computer. That could be the problem for you as well. You can get a free version at http://www.real.com
As soon as I installed the program the link worked right away.

I know how expensive bandwidth is - I put your MP3 on the Purdue University server to help with the load. I hope that wasn't presumptuous of me - I have no problem with taking it down if it's a problem. Just let me know and poof! It will be gone. :)
Anyway, here is the link for that:

Chili, I think he meant the second bridge, right at the end. There's some really fast picking that I could swear is a nylon-string guitar.

Trin,
Thanks for posting the MP3 link. It took a while to download it, but then it worked perfectly with Media Player. I love Lindsey's voice in the beginning announcing the first listen. What a treat!! :D

Fleetwood Mac Asks America Online Members To 'Say You Will' Be the First to Hear Their New Music
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 2003--
AOL Music Names Fleetwood Mac March Artist of the Month and Features
the Exclusive Global Debut of "Peacekeeper," the First Single from Band's Highly Anticipated New Album, Say You Will, to be Released on
Reprise Records, April 15
Song to Be Offered Through New MusicNet on AOL Music Subscription
Service
America Online, Inc. the world's leading interactive services company, and Reprise Records, today announced that legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac has secured the highly coveted spot as AOL's March Artist of the Month. As part of this distinction, AOL Music will feature a host of exclusive opportunities to experience new music from the band including an AOL Music First Listen of "Peacekeeper," the first single from Say You Will (their first studio album since 1986, set for release on Reprise Records, April 15, 2003), an intimate Sessions@AOL performance and a pre-release CD Listening party where fans can hear the new album in its entirety before it is in stores.
"Fleetwood Mac created a sound that has proven to stand the test of time. Their contribution to rock music cannot be understated," said Evan Harrison, Executive Director of AOL Music. "The chance to debut their new work, plus offer fans an original reunion performance is undeniable proof that AOL Music is the place to go for the most eagerly anticipated music."
Fleetwood Mac made history in the mid-Seventies with the release of such era-defining albums as Fleetwood Mac, Rumours and Tusk. Their catalog of smash hits - from "Don't Stop" to "Rhiannon" to "Go Your Own Way" to "Landslide" (currently a Top 20 hit for the Dixie Chicks) and beyond - constitutes a soundtrack for our times. As fresh and original today as when they first defined the rock & roll idiom, it is that same creative chemistry that continues with Say You Will.
Highlights of this extensive promotion include:
-- Starting at 12:01 AM EST, Tuesday, March 4, the band's new song
"Peacekeeper" will be available exclusively to AOL members
worldwide at AOL Keyword: First Listen. For 24 hours, AOL will be
the only place fans can listen to this new song. Starting
Wednesday, March 5, the song will also be made available to Web
music fans at aolmusic.com.
-- Starting March 5, "Peacekeeper" will be available on MusicNet on
AOL, which is currently available with a free-trial subscription.
The song will be available to stream, download and -- for
subscribers at the Premium tier -- burn on MusicNet on AOL before
it is for sale in stores.
-- The band recorded an exclusive Sessions@AOL performance and
interview. They performed new songs, revisited classic hits,
updated fans on the latest news from the band and answered
questions from AOL members around the world. The Fleetwood Mac
Sessions@AOL will be available exclusively to AOL Members in
mid-March at AOL Keyword: Sessions@AOL or AOL Keyword: Fleetwood
Mac.
Additional highlights of the Fleetwood Mac Artist of the Month campaign include a CD Listening Party where members will have the exclusive chance to hear the full album, Say You Will, in its entirety one day before it is available in stores. AOL Music will also feature a Fleetwood Mac photo gallery, a celebrity DJ station on Radio@AOL that showcases Fleetwood Mac's favorite tunes and exclusive behind the scenes footage from the making of the album. What's more, on March 6, AOL Broadband subscribers will enjoy footage from "The Dance," Fleetwood Mac's acclaimed DVD concert, on AOL's weekly series Broadband Rocks.

Well, it did when I first played it. ;) It appears that I'm not the only one who made that mistake.
So, is it some kind of computer generated guy (like the AOL "You've got mail" voice)? Oh well.
Thanks for posting the article, Joe! It's too bad I dropped AOL. Now, I won't be able to view the Sessions part when it's available. :(
That does not sound like Lindsey!!!! lol
Hey don't start no **** boy :), I've been in enough arguments already!
You're welcome Karen and thanks for being my "guardian angel" lately. ;)
I'm not sure if the voice is computer generated but it does seem "AOL related", not our dear Lindsey.
Oh well , let's just enjoy this new music by the Mac all.

My first thought about the 55% 36% 9% approval rating is that it's pretty good. I mean, consider how diverse music tastes can be. The fact that over half of those who hear it love it, speaks pretty well.
However, I'm saying this without knowing anything about the voting process. Can you vote more than once?

oops, I got that wrong. 55% like it. 35% love it. Actually, that's amazing. 91% of those who hear it either like it or love it.
Yikes. That is impressive.
However, I'm saying this without knowing anything about the voting process. Can you vote more than once?
No you can't Rainman. It's one of the more "scientific" polls. I too am impressed with the results....a very good showing indeed. The Fleetwood Mac page is right up on the front, so it's not like you have to search for it or anything. I would imagine it's a good sampling of people with a wide variety of tastes in music.
The more I listen to this song the more I love it...WTG Mac!
