Hi ledgies, look what I read on the Mickboard from a guy named christobole:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peace Keeper is terrible. The chords are astonishingly boring, and a lot of the instrumentation sounds like midi.
Anyway, I HAVE BAD NEWS for everyone: on Saturday I ran into an old friend of mine, who produces a show for the WB. He was sent a copy of the new album, and was asked if he wanted to use a song on his show. Unfortunately he had to give the Mac's representatives a call and tell them that he would not be using anything from the CD at all. Apparently the album is bad! He's a big fan though, and was disappointed. I was disappointed too upon hearing, but not very surprised. Admit it, Lindsey's songs on The Dance were bad and so was Stevie Nicks' last CD. A lot of fans are just so happy about a new Mac CD, that they tend to overlook the quality of the material. Wake up! Fleetwood Mac is simply not relevant anymore!

Well I don't know if this "I have a friend, who..." story the guy tells is true. Possibly he just tended to annoy some people, who knows? It's hardly possible to criticise something you don`t even know. The GOS stuff was brilliant in my opinion and the "no more relevant" -quote sounds pretty much like prejudice.

But another question comes to my mind. Is the album probably getting more pop- orientated and less edgie than we thought after listening to GOS and regarding the "new envelop" quotes from Mick?

Bleed to love her (not on my GOS version as it was a FM live song we knew), Peacekeeper (like it a lot, now seems to be less edgie than before), Steal yhaway, Miranda (not on my GOS, didn`t like it)... A little safe...? What do you think/expect:wavey:

Don't care about it, Stefan. :) It looks like someone wants to cause another heated discussion over at Mick's board and provoke fans. And even if it was true - why should it be bad news for anyone? Just because two people don't like the album and previous Lindsey/Stevie material? Oh well, the sun will never rise again!

File it under "G" as in garbage can. ;)

that guy's on crack...he considers himself to be a fan but disses Stevie's last album as well as the Dance? i put no energy into his post whatsoever.

Neither do I. As LB (and FM) fan you're anyway not with the masses. Don't care. But what do you think about the pop orientation? Regarding the GOS songs, which were left out and the tracks from the new CD as we know it by now. Is it tending to be a little safer or what do you feel about it?

then i really don't care how "safe" it sounds.

JMHO!!!

I hope they're NOT playing it safe on the next album. I still have some faith in Mick's statement about "pushing new envelopes", especially because Lindsey is involved. :) Sure, I´m a bit disappointed about the new (and in comparison, tame) version of "Peacekeeper", but still... Let's wait and see. The rest of the album might be different.

Don't worry everybody, it is going to be great....have faith...how could it be bad with Lindsey involved!

Just on the merits, or lack thereof, of this guy's remarks alone, if he said he didn't like TISL, then I'm looking forward to SYW!!

More than 80% of the critics praised TISL,that is more than any Stevie solo lp .this guy is just a troll doing what trolls do best.

according to this so-and-so poster from over "there": "Anyway, I HAVE BAD NEWS for everyone: on Saturday I ran into an old friend of mine, who produces a show for the WB. He was sent a copy of the new album, and was asked if he wanted to use a song on his show."

Gee, I never knew some person with a show on the "WB" (aka We Bite) network would even consider telling someone that their music is possibly "bad" when the whole "WB" network lineup is just plain "projectile vomit inducing" bad...And since when did this "person" get to hear the album just to possibly pick/or use a song for their "show" (For a lack of a better term.)...Seems network execs would have that job...

"Unfortunately he had to give the Mac's representatives a call and tell them that he would not be using anything from the CD at all. Apparently the album is bad! He's a big fan though, and was disappointed. I was disappointed too upon hearing, but not very surprised."

I'm very surprised that someone has the number to FM reps SO they can give "their" opinion on something they describe to as "bad". Seems this "big fan" is expecting either Tusk vol.II or Rumours vol. XII...Last time I looked this group has slowly but surely went forward and created a new album, but not stayed in the comforts of the past relying on their music from the 70's to pay the bills (I can name alot of musicians who go this route)..."Peacekeeper" kinda proves that to me...

"Admit it, Lindsey's songs on The Dance were bad and so was Stevie Nicks' last CD. A lot of fans are just so happy about a new Mac CD, that they tend to overlook the quality of the material. Wake up! Fleetwood Mac is simply not relevant anymore!"

Lindsey's songs sounded fine to me, What about everyone else? Christy? And as for Stevie's TISL, IMO it was one her better albums in years...And as for "not relevant anymore", HA! That's the most ironic joke I've heard in years, If their "no longer relevant" then why post this info on a FM website?...God people are really "ate up with it"...lol...Brian J.

I hope this isn't true, but even if it is, didn't Lindsey tell a story once about the label having some kind of party where they played Rumours before it was released and somebody told them that they "Didn't hear a hit" or something like that?

At any rate, we'll all see for ourselves soon. Until then I shrug off such reviews.

I agree, sodascouts. Damning criticism nor unbridled praise mean anything at this stage. And really, what's the important thing-- that this becomes a 20 million seller, or that the world gets to enjoy 18 new FM songs?

Then I am encouraged by his comment. Anyone who didn't like Lindsey on The Dance or TISL is completely out of their mind in my book...so it's very likely the album ROCKS just like Lindsey on the Dance and TISL. I'm not worried. We know the GOS tracks were absolutely amazing, so if that's what this person is talking about as being "bad" then if the rest of it is as "bad" I'll be in heaven.
