Well Stevie's on there. Is it just me or has the main melody been changed from an acoustic to an electric? Cause I haven't heard the org. vesion in a while.

LOVE THIS SONG.

I've listened to it twice now...and um...I don't like Stevie on it. *ducking* I can't hear Lindsey and it's HIS song! LOL I like his solo version that we got from sararhiannon.com. BUT, hearing it on TV and hearing it on CD are two different things...we'll see when this album comes out...soon!!!!!!!!!

Are there other outside voices on the song? Did ya'll hear them? Is it Lindsey and Stevie ONLY? Sounds like other voices to me and I swear to ALL that is HOLY, if it's friggin Sheryl Crowe, I'll poke my eye out with a spoon!!:mad:

But it seems as if it's being given a duet treatment. Stevie's singing harmony on both verses and chorus. Unless she's not on the bridge, it could be like "I Don't Want to Know" - written by one, sung together by both.

Oh, no, wait. I just went back and listened to it - on the first verse, Lindsey does sing two lines alone. So I guess it's not a duet, then. :)

I loved it! I love Stevie's vocals on the song. While the version we all know and love currently is amazingly good I really must say that I find the newer version even better. The song just sounds so...complete.

I really can't wait for the new album now! :D

Well, I liked "Peacekeeper" from the very first time I heard it, but wow... the addition of Stevie's harmony vocals have totally knocked this one out of the ballpark!
Total home-run here! :D

I don't think her presence on the verses and chorus detracts from Lindsey at all. Her vocals, although they're clearly noticeable, remain subtle... and they're just the right thing to give an already incredible song, that much more "oompf."

I was totally hoping that we'd clearly hear Stevie on a lot of Lindsey's tunes, just as I was hoping that we'd clearly hear Lindsey on a lot of Stevie's tunes.
The fact is, they sound great together... and to me, it seemed like it would be a total waste if they didn't use that to their best advantage on this album... no matter who wrote what.

With each new snippet of music that we get to hear, I get more and more excited about this album. :D

Very well said. I'm in total agreement.

I was very pleased to hear Lindsey singing on Thrown Down and now I'm so happy to hear Stevie's excellent vocals on Peacekeeper.

Lindsey and Stevie's vocals are like a perfect circle: one begins where the other ends. They compliment each other so very well.

Hearing little bits here and there is really helping keep my enthusiasm high for the new album. I can't wait for April 15th!

Well, the guitar part at 1:07 is like, muted!!!! I don't like that!! It's like, the song has been popped up...as opposed to more rockin. I hope we get some kind of ROCKING, BLOW MY MIND guitar solos on this album!!! Murrow and Come for sure...but what others? I DO like the guitar towards the end of the clip tho...before the knock. LOL

You know what? I'm DYING INSIDE for a LB solo album, that's what it is. I PRAY TO GOD he releases GOS in the next few years!!!!!!!!

I still think SN drowns him out during the chorus.

I keep listening to the clip tho...trying to be positive.

I LOVED it!!!! I love the classic, timeless harmony of Lindsey and Stevie that attracted me to Fleetwood Mac in the first place. I've always been big into harmony~~no matter what the song or who the musician~~if it has a good harmony part, I usually love the song. They once again proved to me that they are my favorite harmony singers out there with this new song. OK, so now I've heard two song clips and loved them both--it is definitely time for April to get here!!!!

I'm not too sure I liked what I heard. They seem to be sticking to two-part harmony in Thrown Down and now Peacekeeper. I hope this will not be the norm for the album because I love the multi-layered harmonies we've heard from FM in the past.

I agree with Christy on these two statements...and the one about poking my eye out with a spoon if Sheryl is on this track...I'm annoyed that she's even on the album (I liked her contributions to TISL but she should not mix with the Mac)...but if she's on Lindsey's songs or heaven forbid the tour...Pass the spoon.

You know I just loved Lindsey's version so much and thought it was so perfect the way it was... I expected it to just be sprinkled with a little Stevie vocal for SYW...not doused in it:lol:

No matter. I love the way her voice sounds in it and that absolutely gorgeous tune of the harmony...WOW! A very exciting harmony, that ventures beyond the traditional thirds, etc....very Buckingham Nicks. These two really have a knack for that. The "peacekeeper don't tell why" harmony reminds me of one of my favorites...and that's the "tossed around enough" line in Second Hand News;) Do ya hear it?

I think I will love this version as much as Lindseys...and I hope the final mix on the album doesn't sound like Stevie's drowning him out. I don't trust the quality of this audio clip. It's obviously TV audio that is quite possibly "unbalanced" and we may not be getting the full effect.

I totally agree, Christy. I must admit I was a bit disappointed - this version sounds a bit tame. Where have all the guitars gone? They gave the song more energy.

I liked the idea of adding Stevie's vocals to the song, but indeed she's drowning him out a bit (then again, it could be the mp3's recording itself). When I heard the solo version, I was quite confident that this song would be played often on German radio and might even become a hit (if it is released as a single). As much as I don't like to admit it, but with this tame version I'm not so sure anymore. To me, it now somehow lacks this "Oh great, who's this?" factor. I think it would have been nicer to have Stevie's voice on the "original" backing track. Less (re-working etc.) is sometimes more.

However, like Christy said, I'll keep listening to the clip as well. Maybe I'll like it more after a few more listens.

Hi DOR, thanks ever so much for the link!
I really dug Lindsey's solo original of "Peacekeeper" but Stevie's harmonies on the FM version give the song a new depth. I am completely overjoyed to be hearing these two in such fine form again after all these years. I think we're in for a treat once the album arrives.

Have to admit that I'm sort of wishy-washy about the new version. I think that Lindsey and Stevie do sound great together on this track as always, but it seems like it really lost a lot of the 'edge' that was there on the original version that we all heard. It drags a bit now. Plus I think Stevie's vocal is a little loud on the chorus, and I agree with wondergirl9847, at times it IS very tough to hear Lindsey singing, and I don't think I like that. Then again it may sound different on the actual album than it did on television.

I wouldn`t like that either. But could it be the reason that is tends to be like that, that it was taped from TV? Hard to believe that this would make such a difference...?
On the other hand- don`t forget it`s always hard to hear something new, when you got used to a different version.
The thing I am worrying about is, that probably the attitude of the album might be a duet approach...? No clear defined songs from one or the other but all mixing up. But let`s wait and see.

They took out that weird computerized "ah-uh-uh-ah-ah-ah" that comes after "soon all the suns will rise" and "love is the sweet surprise" in the chorus on Lindsey's version. I liked that!
Also, I have to admit that *on first listen*, I don't like Stevie's back-up vocals much. She sounds strangely flat _ almost off-key (although I'm sure technically she's not).
Still really like the song, though!

i agree...we are getting more of a B/N thing here with the album...they told us that in the beginning so i don't know why everyone is acting surprised. i think it's nice. i like the two of them together. i respect everyone's opinions though. yes, this version may not be as agressive as Lindsey's but it still sounds like FM to me and there were a lot of elements left in that were cool like the high pitched voice thing and also the little guitar parts that come in and out. it's got a very mysterious and ethereal feel to me which i like. i think it's a perfect FM song. Love it!!! Can't wait for the album!!!

PS....Lindsey really does bring out the best in Stevie....i especially like her shift to a higher key on "don't tell why".

I don't like this version at all. I've listened to it many times now and my opinion isn't changing in the least. The song has totally lost its energy, the adrenaline-factor, it's "edge"...whatever you wanna call it....it's not there anymore.

Why has the guitar work been cut down so much? And the parts that have been left in have been edited themselves into parts "that could have been great", and which would seem unnecessary to someone who hasn't heard the original version.
I can't believe that "insane laughter" connecting the parts of the chorus has been removed. It's things like that which always made a song "signature Lindsey Buckingham/LB with FM".
Couple the "normalisation" of the song with the fact that it is distinctively slower than the original, and it sounds simply boring. All the energy of the original is missing. I know this song was used for "3rd watch", but it now sounds like it was specifically made as the soundtrack to a TV show. The instrumentation verges on elevator music.

Stevie's vocals: The vocals themselves are good, and I was very happily surprised that she managed (as someone mentioned before) to go that high during the chorus, and I am really looking forward to hearing her new songs. However, I cannot stand the way they've been mixed into the song: they are far too forward in the mix, and totally not balanced with Lindsey's. It sounds more like a Stevie song with Lindsey singing backing, rather than a harmony between the two. It's so uneven that it sounds almost like the song was produced by an amateur on a home mini-studio. Perhaps the mix will sound differently on the actual CD, but I doubt it.

The only good thing left about this song is its amazingly catchy melody, which will go round and round in your head all day even if they remove all vocals, replace the guitar with a trumpet and use elephant sounds as the lead.

I hope, HOPE, that Red Rover, Come and Murrow have not received the same treatment. I am almost certain that the latter two have been dramatically changed, but I pray that Red Rover has been left exactly how it was, and will be a Lindsey solo song, like NGBA on Rumours. Its track-time for the album seems to be practically the same as the GOS version, so here's hoping...

"Pushing envelopes"...eh?:rolleyes::confused:

I haven't heard it yet, but it occurs to me that it's possible that the guitar work hasn't really been cut out of the song, but largely trimmed or muted out of the clip(s) that the show chose to use for the song. That's been done before for clips used on t.v. Just a thought.

If you listen to the snippet of peacekeeper at burnish.net you'll find that in fact the "ah-uh-uh-ah-ah-ah" is still in there. It's just not audible in the other version posted at sararhiannon.com. While I LOVE Stevie's high and soaring harmony on the chorus (a la David Letterman Big Love), I have to say, her signing loudly in the main part of the song somewhat detracts from the energy of what we assume was the original posted on the web. But, even with that, its still a great song!!!!!!

Antje, that was great! I tried it out and there is in fact a huge difference. The chorus is balanced out much better and so you finally hear LB`s voice too  That and the fact that some things like the "ah uh`s etc" are on the one version and not on the other makes it likely that the album version contains the guitarsound some of us were missing here. I personally loved the version I heard last night. I didn't hear anyone elses voices. Only Stevie and Lindsey. I heard Stevie doing 2 harmony parts as she's always done as long as I can remember. She sounds great. I was hoping the new album was a mix of the two other than half GOS and part Stevie solo. It's suppose to be Fleetwood Mac. That has and hopefully always will be the fantastic harmony that only those two voices can bring. Thats only my opinion.

I just listened to both and agree with you. Thanks for pointing that out. The mix of the clip Tracy posted sounds more balanced between the two of them vocally, and I can hear more detail in the song, like the "ah-uh-uh-uh-ah-ah-ah." Hehe, that was fun to type out. ;)

Well I just downloaded the burnish.net version and....wow...!! Much....MUCH better!!!!!:blob1::)

So the apparently weird sounding mix was due to the recording quality of the previous one I had (someone sent it to me last night, I don't know where they got it), and not because of bad production....I should know better than to question LB's production abilities, aahhh, I am SO relieved.:) The difference in quality is amazing, the weird laugh IS there, and the two voices ARE blended together really well! Stevie's voice sounds really sweet during the chorus, rather than intimidatingly forward on the previous version I heard.

I like it, a lot. Phewwww....(wipes sweat of his forehead)!

Some of the guitar parts that I thought were totally edited out ARE still there, they've just been changed and it was VERY hard to hear the changed part on the version I got last night. In particular, I love the addtition of the cool tremolo effect...at around 1:00 and 1:11.

The only thing I still definitely prefer from the previous one is its pace....this one is too slow, not energetic enough. Hopefully they'll do it faster live.

I have a feeling that the reason why there are such mixed feelings here regarding the song is that people have downloaded the clip from different sites. The version where Stevie's voice seems to be totally drowning out Lindsey's, is like that because it's a recording of only half the output! It's like listening to a song which has been mixed in stereo with only one earphone. That first version I heard is obviously Stevie's side of the mix. John's bass is also VERY heavy sounding on that version, because it's on the same side. The burnish.net version has been recorded properly, and you hear the whole song, not just 50% of it!

Ahh...thank God for that! For a few hours I thought Lindsey had gone mad!

I really liked Lindsey's solo of this song, but I like this version better. Stevie's additional vocals harmonizing with Lindsey's lifts the song to new heights imo. I also like the more melodic sound the song has now as opposed to the aggressive tone it had before. Hey what can I say... I'm older and I think my headbanging days are over. :)

I must say I am Buckingham/Nicks -centric and look forward to hearing them work together closely again. This might not have happened to this extent if Chris were still around.I'm not saying Stevie would have phoned in her part like she more or less did on the last couple FM studio albums ,but she may not have rushed to help fill the void as completely as it is now seeming that she has.and those Buckingham/Nicks harmonies still chill after 30 years of recording together'they should be together'

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW....THE REASON FOR THE COMPLAINTS...SOME TELEVISIONS ARE ONLY RECIEVING A MONO SIGNAL AND THEREFORE YOU MIGHT NOT GET LINDSEY'S GUITAR FROM THE LEFT SPEAKER....REFERRING TO "HIS GUITAR IS MUTED" WHICH I HEARD PERFECTLY FINE ON MY TELEVISION. WHEN YOU HEAR THE FULL STEREO MIX YOU WILL BE MUCH HAPPIER...YOU CAN ALSO HEAR THE "UH UH UH...UH UH UH..." WHICH I DIDN'T HEAR WHEN I DOWNLOADED FROM A WEBSITE. BY THE WAY I AM A NEW LEDGIE...AND HAVE BEEN A MAC FAN SINCE 76...CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEW ALBUM

It wasn't mono... I think that the input was to high and the waves got "clipped"
I know this because I recorded it. There is a new soundcard "SoundBlaster gold" on the way in case we get some more tidbits. The software that this card uses was really bad and it was a nightmare to adjust the levels.

...And I didn't even think the quality on that one was that great. I still thought Stevie was a bit louder than Lindsey and I'm hoping there's more guitar in there...but at least I could hear the laughing guitar part or whatever you wnt to call it . I LOVE THAT
But like I said I don't trust TV audio...and I'm sure the producers of the show tweaked it to make it sound appropriate for whatever they were doing (I didn't see the show). They probably tried to crank the vocal of the song to get the viewer to pay attention to the lyrics (maybe they were relevant to the scene) and not the busy guitar part. I still hold out lots of hope for the CD version and I'm sure I will love it as much as Lindsey's original. That Stevie harmony is just incredible. I also love what sound like some really modern percussion sounds.
GRRRRR. It's still only February !

Wellllll, I really slammed this new version of Peacekeeper in an earlier post. But having listened to it a number of times, including the better version on Burnish.net, I must admit it's growing on me. I still like the earlier version better, but I don't feel it's as bad as I originally ranted about.

Actually, it sounds pretty good.

Exactly what happened to me when I heard it - I was watching Joe Millionaire (what a waste of time that crap was) while taping the last 15 minutes of Third Watch. When I watched the tape, I turned on my surround sound and WOW!!! I wasn't expecting Stevie's vocals at all, so I was pleasantly surprised to not only hear her incredible HIGH harmony, but the TWO OF THEM TOGETHER!!!:] :blob2: :blob1: I played it over and over again like 10 times. Hurry, April 15, hurry!! BTW, I just called the radio station to ask if they had any word of the FM single. She said no, and was surprised, since just about every other artist w/ an album coming out on or near April 15 has already released a single (like Lucinda Williams).

I slammed it too Rainman..but it IS growing on me..the burnish version is WAY better than the earlier one I dl'ed!! YIKES, no laughing part and the muted guitar!! AAAAHHH!!! NOOO!! LOL I can't wait to hear the entire song so I can hear my fave guitar part around 2:30 on Lindsey's original version (it had BETTER be there!!!!!), which is STILL my fave!! LOL

Lindsey sounds AMAZING on the song!!!! Stevie surprised me with her high vocals too!! ROCK ON FLEETWOOD MAC!!

Exactly. A lot of times instrumental parts will be taken out so that they can get all those vocals in on their clip. And the tune on the chorus sounds like the chorus at the end of Lindsey's original "Peacekeeper," so maybe even that was moved around.

An example: On "Friends," their new shortened version "I'll Be There for You" sound the same way, with abrupt changing and no instrumentation. Got to get it all in before the credits end!

I don't think the song was changed for the show, I really think this is it. I know what you mean about songs like the Friends soundtrack, but I don't think they've bothered doing that with this track...the Friends song starts and ends perfectly, whereas this starts slightly into the song, and simply fades out halfway through the song. Sounds like they just took the first 1:40 and stuck it onto the show. We'll soon find out....:)

I am much more of a Fleetwood Mac than a Lindsey Buckingham fan, so after downloading and listening to the "Burnish" version of the song, I was quite surprised that I still like his solo version to it much better. I think it loses some energy in the clip, but the harmonies are excellent. I still want to hear the whole thing before posting a definitive opinion, though. For now, the solo Lindsey version, to me, is much better.
