View Full Version : Say You Will track listing

All right, dudes, here's the track listing. Word is that Lindsey has 10 and Stevie, eight songs. I am dancing on my desk about that, but still questioning some of the inclusion go Come, Bleed to Love Her and Steal Your Heart Away. On the other hand, I guess we should hold judgement until we actually know what ALL the songs sound like.
Illume 4.52
Smile at you 4.41
Destiny rules 4.35
What's the world coming to 4.32
Everybody finds out 4.29
Bleed to love her 4.24
Thrown down 4.20
Come 4.19
Murrow turning over in his grave 4.12
Steal your heart away 4.09
Say goodbye 4.09
Silver girl 4.05
Red rover 3.53
Goodbye baby 3.51
Miranda 3.48
Say you will 3.41
Peacekeeper 3.37
Running through the garden 3.19
Notice that Come has been edited way down. Also, Running Through the Garden is the last song, which is interesting. I would have put that earlier in the listing because it is such a rocking song.

Thank you for the info. It's source?
I'm jumping up and down for joy about "Smile At You". I think the song
has the potential to be kind of like a "Silver Springs II" when played out
live on stage. I also find it unusual that the disc leads off with two Stevie
songs in a row...

Interesting that Stevie has the shortest song on the list. That's almost always Lindsey's slot. ;) Also kinda weird on the sequencing. I thought they would alternate more (Stevie-Lindsey-Stevie-Lindsey), but I'm sure the sequencing is based on the "flow" of the songs. It guess it kinda reminds me a bit of Tusk in that respect, where we had several songs in a row by the same writer.
I also agree that Running Through The Garden is an odd choice for a final track. I thought something tamer would end the disc. But then, we haven't heard this version yet, so...
April 15 seems like a long way off.
Mike B.
Thank you Carne. I can't wait to hear this stuff!

When it comes to "Running Through the Garden", I'm wondering if maybe Stevie slowed it down like "I Sing for the Things". The demo was a rocker, but the finished product was a ballad.
I know I'll get some flack for this, but with the tracklisting, I wish Stevie had the 10 and Lindsey had the 8. But whatever.
Also Carne, I'm always excited to see your posts, but I'm wondering where did you get this info? It kinds of makes me nuts when people post inside info without stating where they get it.
Thanks!

Oh, gosh, I hope not! I love that song! She better not slow down "Smile At You" either. Come to think of it, she did that to "If You Were My Love" and "Juliet." I take comfort in the fact that the faster demos of both of those songs were the FM versions, and she slowed them down when solo. Lindsey is making sure she keeps the rock in there, I guess. ;)
As for "Come," they must have gotten rid of a lot of the awesome guitar solo, but I'm OK with that. I'm sure they will add it in if they do it live, and if not, well- I have the demo!
Ooh, I'm so excited!

Hi Ledgies,
it starts with 2 songs in a row by Stevie? Then Destiny rules is a LB song? Is that confirmed or speculative? And where does the info come from? Thanks, Stefan
I hope this is an official track list....please credit your source!!!
my anticipation and excitement level just soared to new heights with this information. i REALLY can't wait....those Stevie songs have been top favorites of mine for a long time now.
I wish they would have included "Twist of Fate" as well as "Down on Rodeo" as they have FM stamped all over them....but i'm happy with the selection. i hope the finish product delivers!
It's going to be very interesting to hear a new version of "Goodbye Baby" since the demo is just Stevie at the piano from way back. It's got such a delicate feeling to it. I hope it's done justice.

I agree completely!!! Can you imagine the concert with both "Silver Springs" AND "Smile at You"???!!!

Yeah, well I wish that too. But I cant have everything, esp when it seems to be coming true about "Smile at you" & "Running Through The Garden"...Two truely fantastic Stevie demos brought to completion by the maestro Lindsey!! That and and the fact that Lindsey has seemingly put his NUTS into this recording and hasnt had a new substantial release in a decade., I can live with Stevies' 8 songs to Lindseys' 10. But If she had 7 or less I would really be bitching.
Also I have a strong gut feeling her songs on this new release will be incredible....making up for the last 2 FM records she phoned in. ;)
And actually if this is the correct running order, Stevie has the first 3 songs in a row..that seems a little odd as well.
.....and one more thing did anyone else also notice "Thrown Down" may have been edited ....the version I have is about 4:40...Interesting

Hey, dudes, sorry I forgot to include the source. Doh! Didn't I just criticize someone recently for doing that? I must punish myself. I will play Come twice on the train ride home tonight, three times if they stop us for a security check.
WinMX has the track listing as I posted above. It has also been posted on at least one of Mick's site boards. I think this is legitimate because
--The song lengths are included.
--It matches the track listing we were given before.
--One of the Mick site posters said it was a 10/8 split between Lindsey and Stevie songs. Considering we suspect that some of these posters are The Knight or one of his cronies, I thought perhaps this was the case here. How else could they be so authoritative about that?
--I believe the label leaked the track list to the P2P sites with the empty files to clog up the works.
I guess the songs in question as to whether they are Lindsey's or Stevie's are Everybody Finds Out (See lyrics on another Rumours thread ;)) and Destiny Rules. Also, has anyone been able to ascertain that Silver Girl is a Stevie song? Another assumption has been that Goodbye Baby is The Tower, and that is a conclusion that makes a lot of sense but it is possible that it isn't.
So there you have it. I have no real doubt that this track list is accurate. Then again, I had no doubt that Portugal was going to kick the USA's ass in the World Cup last summer.

NOT to rain on anyones parade, but I DON'T think that this is the final track order...
The songs are listed *from longest running to shortest running songs* - take a look again!
-- I appreciate knowing the timing for each song, though! :)

I would be surprised if this was the running order as well.
You don't put Come and Murrow next to each other, the flow of the album would not work.

Yeah!!! Smile at You has finally made the cut!! I am sure that will be a powerful stage performance.
I would love it if "Goodbye Baby" is "The Tower" . . . I love that song . . . but I realize it probably isn't. :(
Silver Girl IS a Stevie song according to the list of copywrited songs on The Stevie Nicks Underground site. According to that, Stevie wrote both the words and music to it . . . .

Right you are. I didn't notice that. I got fooled again. Last time I didn't notice the songs were organized alphabetically.
However, now we have two different lists with the same songs on them. This is it, folks.

I think the only 2 songs in question now are : "Everybody Finds out" (Lindsey??) & "Goodbye Baby" (Stevie & poss. the Tower ??)
Another interesting side note....most of you know Luke A, who also mentioned on Micks site at one time that "Destiny Rules" was one of the 6 tracks or so, that was being considered as the lead single.

Lol...I can't believe I didn't notice that. I even thought "Wow, those are some short songs at the end..." Duh.
I do think this is the tracklist, but won't we all be surprised if we see the official list and it is nothing like this one? That would be kinda funny...

If this is the same Luke who had the advanced copy of TISL and insisted that "Love Changes' would be the likely first single I would take what he says with the probverbial grain of salt.

Thrown down 4.20
This is good news for me. That means that the Thrown Down we've all been calling the finished version, is NOT the finished version. Which to me is good becaus i find the thrown Down we currently have very dull and boring. I hope that vocal gets improved.

Reprise Records' current A & R man, David Kahne, produced the track. And if I remember correctly, Kahne was, at the time, the acting head of Reprise, right after Howie Klein stepped down.
By the time the album was released, they had found someone to officially take the position, and other songs were chosen as singles.
I've often wondered what Stevie thought of Mr. Kahne, as I've heard that several other artists can't stand him.
He does appear in one of the photographs in the 'TISL' liner notes though, so presumeably they got along well enough.
Now... back to the topic at hand!....
I'm kind of surprised that Lindsey has two more tracks than Stevie (if that truly is the case).
In the case of an album like 'Tusk,' where Stevie's tracks were the longest on the album, and Lindsey's were the shortest, it made sense... but the timings given earlier in this thread, look fairly even for both writers.
But then, I'm not going to complain. Stevie's solo career continues to provide her with an excellent opportunity to get her songs heard, but Lindsey hasn't released an album since 1992... so it seems only fair that he have a couple more tracks on the release.
It's all good. :)

I agree....if Linds has two more songs, who cares...i love Stevie to death...but she has had more of an opportunity to get her stuff out there...so let Linds have some time to shine(omg..i can't believe i just said that...i think i am now a fully converted Lindsey fan, lol).
I am confident that "Goodbye Baby" will be what many know as "The Tower". Incidentally, the song was never entitled "The Tower" - that was simply an assumption among fans that has been perpetuated over the years. When the song was originally demoed at Spectrum Studios in 1976, it was listed as "Goodbye Baby" on the engineer's tracksheet and I know this for fact. I haven't seen the copyright details of this song so it is possible that the title may have evolved, but I would be surprised if what we hear on the new album isn't what we're expecting.

surprised that there isn't a single song that's over the 5 minute length mark...I thought there would be at least 1 song that would ("Illume" comes close though)...Brian J.
I would imagine that many of the songs have been edited in response to the paring down of the original double set. "Come" is the obvious example but even "Miranda" and "Thrown Down" have seen their running times reduced. Another bow to corporate pressure... and to think Mick likened the vibe of this album to the spirit of "Tusk"! Now if only Stevie and Lindsey would consider breaking the chain once and for all... here's hoping.

I mean, if they are just dummy files to clog the p2ps, they aren't the real thing, right? So they aren't necessarily accurate, right? I'm hoping we'll get at least one long-winded Stevie song and that Come has every note the demo has, or more :D

What about Twist of Fate?!?
I simply refuse to believe that this will be omitted!
Then again, an LB solo album to quickly follow up the hype created by a Mac effort...hmm, all good maybe!? :D

Actually, if Thrown Down has gone down to 4:20, it doesn't necessarily mean we've been hearing the unfinished product. It could just mean that they went in and took a chunk out. I would think they would just take out the repeated first verse, which wouldn't be too bad. However, the edit could be of the instrumental, or the ending -- in which case I'd be really upset. The ending is the greatest part of the song with both Lindsey and Stevie belting their voices out, "ABOUT JUST HOW MUCH HE NEVER REALLY TOLD HERRRRRRRRRRR, Thrown Down...etc."

They'd have to be imbeciles to take out that part!!!! But then again look what they did to "I'm So Afraid" on the VBoFM...
Well, I'm not going to borrow trouble. I'm going to hope for the best until I have evidence spinning in my CD player that they blew the song.
It minimizes stress! :)

I TOTALLY agree. The idea of them cutting that back is just too horrible to imagine:distress:. That's why I'm sticking with my theory that these times aren't accurate because they came from empty files.
On a happier note....we know what it means when Stevie songs fade out while there's still singing....Yep, extra AMAZING verse in the live performance...Maybe the live version of Thrown Down on the tour will have some crazy epilogue that'll tack on another three minutes to the song.;)

AAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
They cut down "Come" to 4:19!!!!
Now they BETTER release it as a single!!!!!!!! Otherwise there is NO excuse!!!!!!
I predict each verse will be cut down by a half, and the middle of the guitar solo will be chopped out...I even have a pretty good idea of which part that will be.
I can now only hope and pray that he gives the song the "I'm So Afraid" treatment on stage and does it justice.
:wavey: :wavey: :wavey:
I just added up the individual running times that we've been given and they total 74:56. That leaves about 5 minutes in terms of audio capacity for a cd so I wonder if these durations are accurate or not? Considering that 5 or more songs have been axed to accommodate a single disc, I assumed that cramming as much audio content as possible would've been the order of the day.
The whittling down of "Come", although disappointing to me, is understandable as the guitar solo is rather sprawling but it would seem strange that the climactic moment of "Thrown Down" be edited out just to save an odd 20 seconds or so. I would have thought if anything, this song would be extended to capitalise on the vocal interplay between Stevie and Lindsey. (By the way, I do actually believe the version we have heard is the finished mix so I don't imagine it's been re-recorded or radically remixed.)
Of course, the extra cd space might serve another purpose - maybe there will be a hidden track after all... here's hoping it's "Down On Rodeo"!
Well, after I try downloading Running Through the Garden tomorrow, I will have heard about 9 of the 18 songs on Say You Will. Most of the ones of heard, I've liked. Some I didn't actually hear the whole song, but I still liked the bit of the song I did hear. I can't wait to hear the rest of them! Come on April 15th!
