I don't know why I am even venting like this. I know this will fall on deaf ears on this forum (with a few exceptions), but I am getting so tired of the false realease dates (via Mick), the "stringing along". First it was 2002...then early 2003....and now.... Yes, it will probably be realeased prior to the summer concert $$$$$$$$$ months...or will it? It's not like I think it should be released at a certain time, but stop f'n us around. OR GIVE US HARDCORE FANS SOME REAL INFORMATION!!!! It's not like were gonna tell everyone..and to be honest, I don't think the general public really cares that much...
after all, it's not 1978.
By the way...all of you out there who think FM is really concerned with you..are living in your own little "dream" worlds. Based on what I have seen..why should they. Most people on this site never indulge in any real constructive criticism. FM knows you will wait til whenever...baaa.
They are more concerned with the masses. Oh, my God..no..really? Duh..........

Hey Steve, I understand your frustration, I posted my thoughts about this in another thread but do us a favor ok and don't take your frustration out on us. Dont bring us down man!!!! There is nothing we can do to make you feel better.

Anyone who thinks that Mr. Fleetwood started his official site to create a "direct connection" to the fans is living in a dream world. That entire message board (which his site administrator erroneously calls a "chat room") is basically a way for Mick to drum up interest (no pun intended) in his various & unending business ventures, the latest of which are his online store (erroneously called a "gallery") & his drum samples product for Sonic Foundry---all of which is perfectly legit, but let's be honest & call a business a business, instead of calling it a "direct connection to the fans."

I'm as frustratedly anxious as the next Ledgie.
But I take point with things Steve and David have said.
First, David - sure there's the overriding commercial aspect, but despite that we are getting a lot of comment from Mick that he wouldn't have much reason or time to give us otherwise would he?
Steve, first of all, get your words sorted out. There is no 'Fleetwood Mac' to blame in the more recent rumours and misleadings - ie Lindsey, Stevie, Mick and John. Hah! Anyone with a dose of realtity knows they aren't the ones making business decisions! And it is my understanding that after this album they might have an opportunity to finally get out of the clutches of WB (correct, anyone?).
Sure, as far as Lindsey's solo album being waited on for the past 5 yrs etc, you could blame that on him - yet ahem, someone almost finished their solo album and some company didn'twant to release it, right???? And a long time between FM records is nothing new when the members are no longer the centre of public attention - look at Mirage-> Tango.
As Sodascouts and wldhrt says, this is not the place to deride both FM and its fans, is it? :distress: Meanwhile heaps of us engage in criticism. But we don't fire wildly and miss the mark by blaming FM for what they haven't given us - as I see it they owe us nothing and I wouldn't want it any other way - what a f'd up arrangement it would be to have a band of that stature bending and scraping at the whim of a small bunch of cooky fans. If you think they've made an unbreakable promise to you and let down 'Steve's band of non-dream world fans' once to often ... either 'reality check' or 'adieu' for you, my friend.
By the way...all of you out there who think FM is really concerned with you
wtf? No one here's that deluded. I think it's you who has misunderstood things up till now and is coming to terms with superband/fan dynamics. Well, welcome to the club, but do us a favour but don't feel the need to exert your growing pains in our direction.

Vent to Hawkeye, Steve or anyone else who wants to vent in that manner but please do it privately. Again, I do understand your anger but it is not right to bash the band and blantantly assume we feel a certain way. This is not me just trying to be the peacekeeper of the board this is just me not wanting any further FM or Ledgie bashing to upset me or make me feel uncomfortable coming to the board. Thanks!!!

I Don't think they're bashing the band, they're just saying, they are tired of waiting.

Same here. I just wish the album was out now, or the release date was soon.

I'm tired of "getting tired of waiting".
I'm just patient now. The album will arrive when the timing is right. It needs to be released just before the tour I would say. I don't think all the details of the tour and dates are finalised and I believe this is what's holding up it's release.
I've been waiting a mere 11 years now for a new Buckingham album, so what's a few more months for a Mac album?

Well said Madformac! I know all you FM fans are just dying for snippets of information on when the new album/ cd (whatever you want to call it!!) is going to be released, but we do need to be patient for just a bit longer. In the meantime can I suggest you all take the trouble to purchase or at least listen to Peter Green and the Splinter Group's new offering -released on the 24/25 February ( depending where you are on this planet!!) called 'Reaching the Cold 100'. A new studio version of 'Black Magic Woman' is rumoured to be on this. Treat yourself to the music the founder of Fleetwood Mac plays, and is into these days whilst waiting for the new FM release which will no doubt reward us FM fans in a very BIG way.

I am a younger fan who hasn't (been around long enough to have) been burned by FM fan clubs in the past...but you're not shattering my illusions, David. You (and others who posted over there about being burned/ripped off/disappointed by FM and other fan clubs) are giving people like me a heads up, which I really appreciate. At first I was upset that I wouldn't be able to afford a membership, but now I don't really want one...thanks to the honest testimony of former FM and other fanclub members who were disappointed. Even if this new one turns out to be awesome, which it very well could (I admit it does sound cool), I can't afford to take my chances. Thanks.

well, this isn't the first time, I've been called delusional and I suspect it won't be the last and as for living in a dream world, yes, I admit that the Ledge is on the fringes of my dream world. Hey, I have a rich fantasy life, is that really a problem??
The Ledge, is one of the few places I can talk FM and get "real" feedback, sometimes negative but I have to say most of the time it's positive from like-minded people. And several times the Ledge has been my escape on a tough stressful day, allowing me to indulge in comedy, fantasy, psuedo and real intellectualism.
the strength of the Ledge is in it's members, people who have made me laugh, made me think but most of all have made me enjoy my favorite band while waiting for various album releases. and heaven knows, a true FM knows how to wait, and wait and wait and believe me, I was a fan before the Internet and I was really in the dark back in the Middle Ages. However, we could be Beatle fans, or WHO fans or Beach Boys fans and we would then be waiting our entire lifetime for a new album...
but Steve, it seems you had a really bad day and really needed to vent which is why your post seems hastily written and full of pure raw emotion...and the Ledge is here for those posts, Ledgie chat and Ledgies argue, but we can also appreciate a real and true fan so post your constructive criticisms....you might get slammed (but most slams are humorous if taken lightly) but you might get us to think as well...
one last thing, remember to be respectful to all members (which btw according to the CHITCHAT poll are alot of young devoted idealistic people) so take that devotion, that passion that makes us dreamers with good humor and appreciation

Couple thoughts on that:
In 1991, I started dropping by record stores all the time to try to get some news on Out of the Cradle. Some of you may recall that album was delayed at least twice too. In April, which must have been the second or third "official release date" that never happened, I went to a Strawberries or something. I asked the guy behind the counter: "Is the Lindsey Buckingham album still on schedule for release at such and such date?"
His response: "Huh. Who's that again?"
I had him look in his database, and he could find no record of it. That did not bode well. A few weeks later, Rolling Stone ran a short piece on the new record, but still no date. Finally at the beginning of June, I stopped by a record store and saw a schedule on the wall with upcoming releases. If I'm not mistaken, Lindsey's album came on June 21. Something like that?
Oh boy, when I took that baby home and played it the first time: candy to my ears. Very few albums have had that effect on me. I still remember it fondly.
Truth be told, I never get like that anymore, even if I really like an album. I would have replayed Out of the Cradle 10 times the first couple of days. But when I got Marah's Kids in Philly, for instance, which I absolutely loved, I just didn't have the patience to listen to it again and again. Is it age?
Which brings me to my next point: I absotively hate waiting. Just ask Mrs. Carne. And I hate waiting for a Fleetwood Mac or Lindsey release. But one thing I would advise everyone, especially the younger crowd here: DO NOT wish time would go faster so you can get your hands on that CD. I can't tell you how many times I look back and realize, Oh my, that was already five years ago! Or something like that. Don't rush time. You can never get it back.
Peace everyone from your friend,
CarneVaca (who is feeling rather philosophical and mellow today)

Well you'd think that with an April 15th release date (tentative, I know), the Feburary 24th release date for the PGSG's new album would hold people over for a couple of months.
