It is...... Can't you feel it when you hear that song....???????
"So, I try to say.... goodbye, my friend......
I'd like to leave you with something warm............
"
But, NEVER have I been a blue, calm.... sea................"
I have always... been a storm.....
Ooh, always, been a storm....
Well, I have always.... been a... storm......."
I think perhaps it is... "Storms" is definitely in my top few songs, the order of which fluctuates a little, but yes it is a brilliant song and could easily be considered the Mac's greatest achievement to date.

Tower -
I definitely know what you mean. Like Phil my 'top list' fluctuates - detemined by what type of song it is to begin with. I'd have to say that in that sort of style, I rate Sara above Storms. There's just more going on; it's very complex. But Storms is up there for me, and the lyrics are just perfect
"...And I do not deal with you I know
Though the love has always been
So search to find an answer there
So I can truly win."
Sooo good. And Stevie's vocals? Sublime.
Man I love the Tusk production work on the girl's songs.

Definitely some of Stevies best lyrics and just sublime how she sings it, its in my top 5 with pretty much her other songs from Tusk and Gypsy

Yes, it is a great one. I have always loved it.
Especially at the end when she sings We were frail.. Not all the prayers in the world can save us..
Have you heard the demo or maybe it's an alternate version-not that 16 minute one..another-It's either Stevie or Lindsey but somebody sings real loudly Save us..Its so beautiful..

Storms is just phenomenal Stevie work. I just think that she did an amazing job getting the feeling of the lyrics out on a song. I know that Lindsey's matermind was behind the instrumentation but even the Storms demo I have with only Stevie and piano possesses that same feeling.

I like Storms, but it's not one of my favourite FM songs of all time.

Yeah it's up there with "Sara," and "Gypsy" IMO.

It's ok, but it ain't no "Rhiannon", "Gypsy" or "Sisters Of The Moon", though.

"Storms" is nice, but not what I consider the best. Probably the best Fleetwood Mac song from the Rumours lineup is "Go Your Own Way." Just can't beat it.
Also, I like Camper Van Beethoven's version of "Storms" better.;)

I agree that it is one of Fleetwood Mac's finest songs. I think the lyrics make the song. They are just amazing. It is really difficult for me to pick the best Fleetwood Mac song though. I would have to pick several not just one.

Awesome songs...as are all her Tusk contributions...totally stellar :)
i really didn't care for the song that much till several years ago. It's definately one that has grown on me over the years. It took a while for it to sink in and understand what was going on lyrically and musically. i think it was always overshadowed by her other work on the album. I think it's a very emotional piece. And i love the title.
Speaking of which, has anyone heard the version that Stevie did live in 1981? it's floating around on bootleg somewhere. I think i read it was "recorded for/with friends".

When Tusk came out, it was my favorite song on the album. I haven't listened to it in quite a while, but it's still one of my all time favorite FM songs.

My favourite Stevie song by a looooooong way, one of my fav. FM songs, and one of my fav. songs ever by anyone. Its words, music and her voice are so perfect and well matched, I could listen to this song 100 times in a row and it would be just as powerful each time.

It's one of my favourite Stevie songs, but my favourite FM song isn't by Stevie.

I think Storms is probably my favorite Stevie FM song, ever. The music...the lyrics...her voice...it's just awesome. There have been soooo many times I've put that song on repeat and just let it play. It's just seemed to "fit", in so many areas of my life.

The way she handles the song vocally is what does everything to me. She succesfully tries to express all the pain that goes through the song by an indescriptibly heartbreaking lead vocal. The background vocals in the chorus also help to stress that feeling. I love it when the music and the arrangements in a particular song help it to develop the lyrical part. I think in "Storms" that goal is completely achieved. One of my favorite Stevie songs, of course. :)

Storms is a song with great lyrics and emotion. It just doesn't top Sara. :) I think the best song ever written by anybody is Sara. That song is just perfect.

I only got into the Mac about 6 months ago and never really gave Tusk much of a listen, when one day I listened to it properly and I nearly cried when I heard Storms. Aboulute genius. Probably my favorite song, along with the live version of Im so Afraid from The Dance.

"We were frail.....
Oooohhh.....
She said, 'Every night he will break your heart...'
I should have known from the first-
I'd be the broken-hearted....
I loved you from the start.....
Save us.....
And not all the prayers in the world could save us...."
It just kills me every time. Never have I heard heartbreak like this. I'm really hoping that the new album gives us something as real and true as this. Although, I am something of a dreamer....
P.S.: "Sara" is TOTALLY awesome <duh>.... Especially the extended-length "Cleaning Lady" version.
"And the wind became- it became...
CRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAZZZYYYYY yeah...."
KILLER!!!
