View Full Version : White Wing Dove concert
I have a question...obviously the entire concert was taped but edited down to a one hour special. The only other clip in full that i've seen is "Leather and Lace" but in the "Sometimes it's a Bitch" video there are a few shots that i've never seen including one with Stevie at the mike wearing a round flower head thing and looking a little sad, and also another one with her running to the mike from Waddy's side. Does anyone know what songs these are from and also has anyone seen any other clips?

i think she performed all the songs from that tour, which would mean they prolly cut out:
Blue lamp
Think about it
How still my love
Angel
and
Belladonna

Actually I believe by the time Stevie got to that show, the last show of the tour, she had significantly cut the set. I think the only four songs she did that weren't included on the video were "How Still My Love," "Bella Donna," "Angel," and "Leather and Lace." I'm sure that she cut Think About It out, not as sure about Blue Lamp. I just can't believe that nowhere in the world is there a video of a Bella Donna show (except In Concert). I want to see a full BD show so bad...

Does anyone know where I could get a copy of this concert????? The only live preformance from the BD tour I've seen is L&L. I'd LOVE to see more.

I happened to sort of be ... camping out those five nights at the Fox Wilshire in L.A. She played the full set every night, same set. All the tunes were present & accounted for. Same show as the show she gave in Houston & San Antone & Oakland & Denver.
If you guys want, you can probably get tapes of at least two of those L.A. shows (plus the other tour stops) from Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks traders. Did you check the Stevie Nicks trading Web ring?
Somewhere, that whole unedited video is just sitting there. People in charge of product for these labels probably neither know about it nor care about it. We'll probably never see it unless someone squirrels it out of there & distributes it. The home video camera thing kinda got going in 1983, which is why we don't have audience-held camera videos of Bella Donna Tour shows or Mirage Tour shows. It was just too early. (We started getting videotaped shows by people in the crowd for the Wild Heart Tour in 1983.)
The Peace Sunday thing that Stevie Wonder helped organize at the Rose Bowl the following spring was probably filmed. Stevie did a short set for that---very Bella Donna-like performance with her Bella Donna band, a crowd favorite. Maybe film of that will surface some day, but then again, maybe not.

You're ABSOLUTELY sure? Because while the FULL video is not circulating everywhere, the whole concert IS on audio, and the four songs I named are the only extra four songs on there. I'm not trying to second guess you or anything...I'm just wondering, if she did the whole set as in the first show, why Think About It and Blue Lamp (and one other song I can't remember) don't appear on that audio.

You must have an edited tape of it, Sorcerer, which unfortunately sometimes happens with trades. I dug up my old copy of the night of the 13th & it has the same set as the others. It includes "Think About It" & "Blue Lamp."
If Melacine still does any trading, she's got a recording of that night with the songs you're looking for on it. She's at www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Highrise/4165/
If she turns up dud, try the Stevie Nicks trade ring at www.sararhiannon.com/stevieboots.html
Now on my tapes of the Fox Wilshire shows, the 12th is quite a bit clearer than the 13th, but I'd say they both sound pretty good for being 21 years old.
David....you NEED to set up a trading post. I KNOW you've got some real gems hidden away!
I actually have a couple outside of the California shows. I have one from Tempe, AZ and another from Houston which was from november. I also have the one from San Francisco and it's a good concert for an audience recording. It's got the entire concert. Would love to hear the full 12-13-81 show. Will have to check out that website that David posted.
Do any of you "old-timers" remember when radio stations played the edited "live" version on the b-side of "Edge of Seventeen" more than the album version. That was pretty cool. Probably the best live version i've ever heard of that song.

I think what's happening, is that David is referring to audience recordings from the Dec. 13th performance, while Justin is referring to the professionally recorded version that was broadcast on the NBC Radio Network.
On that broadcast, the only additional songs (beyond what we see on the 'In Concert' video), were "How Still My Love," "Leather And Lace," "Angel," and "Bella Donna."
(Of course, a couple years later, it was then re-packaged and syndicated thru the Westwood One Radio Network. This broadcast only featured the songs found on the 'In Concert' video, as well as "Stand Back, " "Leather And Lace," and "Beauty And The Beast," from the October 4th, 1983 show, at the Oakland Coliseum, in Oakland, CA.)
I imagine "Blue Lamp" and "Think About It" had to have been professionally recorded along with the others, and perhaps just left off of the original radio broadcast for time constraints.
It's wishful thinking that these will ever see the light of day, "but I am something of a dreamer"... so here's to hoping.
