Nothing, but yesterday I heard a couple of tunes by a band called "A Perfect Circle". I know nothing about them, but they sounded great. Can anyone tell me about them?

here is their bio according to AMG:

"Formed by Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan and former Tool guitar tech Billy Howerdel, A Perfect Circle is an extension of the alt-metal fused with art rock style popularized by Tool in the early to mid-'90s. While similar to Tool in intensity and melancholy, A Perfect Circle is less dark and more melodic with a theatrical, ambient quality that incorporates occasional strings and unusual instrumentation.

After the release of Aenima in 1996, Tool found themselves in the midst of an extended legal battle with former label Freeworld Entertainment. When the dust settled two years later, the band reached a 50/50 joint venture agreement for future recordings and, feeling a little burned out, decided to take some time off. It was at this point that Keenan joined up with Howerdel and Paz Lenchantin to form A Perfect Circle. Keenan had met Howerdel in 1992 when Tool opened for Fishbone. Howerdel had been Fishbone's tech at the time and had played Keenan a few of his songs. Keenan was impressed and the two talked of collaborating in the future. However, the opportunity didn't present itself until after the Freeworld settlement. With Keenan on vocals, Howerdel on guitar, and Lenchantin on bass, the trio recruited ex-Failure and Enemy member Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar and ex-Vandals and Guns N' Roses member Josh Freese on drums.

The quintet rehearsed together but didn't announce the formation of a new band until performing for the first time on August 15, 1999, at a benefit concert at the Viper Room in Los Angeles. Howerdel, who had been composing songs for years, as well as working with bands such as the Smashing Pumpkins and Nine Inch Nails, became the band's chief songwriter and producer. A Perfect Circle released their debut album, Mer de Noms, on May 23, 2000."

Thus far they only have 2 full length releases, "Med de Noms" and the recently released "Thirteenth Step"...I have heard "Med de Noms" and I was impressed with their musical style, Definitely different than the norm.

Btw, I am listening to "Imagine" by John Lennon (An outtake version from the 3 cd set "Complete Imagine Sessions" bootleg).

Poe's whole "Haunted" album is really interesting. Between each song, there are old audio recordings of her leaving messages on her answering machine & her late father talking. It's really chilling, to say the least.

Computer-
The Best of Berlin 1979-1988

So far this morning:

Peter Green Splinter Group: Time Traders (all the way through)

George Harrison: Brainwashed (all the way through, TWICE!)

A co-worker's band named Presuming Ed: their 7 song demo CD.

Fans of John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Jethro Tull & Pink Floyd will like them VERY much, I think.

I have candles light on this dark and windy day....and Dave Matthews' Some Devil is filling my house and I have CHILLS as I type this....

One last kiss...one only...then I'll let you go
Hard for you I've fallen, but you can't break my fall
I'm broken...don't break me when I hit the ground
Some devil...some angel...has got me to the bone.

Just Dave...an electric guitar and a haunting falsetto....gorgeous.

I KNEW it was going to be on all week, and in the back of my mind I was reminding myself to be on the lookout...Well, it musta got pushed SOOO far back in my mind 'cause I MISSED IT:(

But I heard their performance with the Roots was pretty cool. My friend told me Ruben Studdard was 'grooving' to the music and I heard that Dave's speech was great. Very eloquent and humble.

Did you see it??

Yeah, I saw the Beyonce part and the Dave Matthews part - he was very touched - and also explained why their bassist, Stefan wasn't there- he and his wife just had a baby girl named Hazel. Pfft. That made me LOL. Hazel? I dunno, is she destined to become a maid with her own sitcom?

by Joss Stone. Picked up the record for $8.99 at Borders yesterday, and it's pretty much what i've been listening to all day. The only thing I knew about Joss was the video to "Fell in Love With Boy." which I love, so when I came across the cd, I wisely picked it up. I hear she's only 16, but what a woman's voice. She's also surrounded by a little too much love - a great band. Very nice record - it's always nice when you stumble across new music that you actually really like. It doesn't happen much anymore.

I've also been listening to the demos/remastered Gold Dust Woman, Angel, and Sara.. thanks to Daniel.. another great site.. I really love Gold Dust Woman. I especially can't wait for the remastered "Tusk" and "White" albums. I was hoping for the DVD-a versions, but the remastered cds might be more interesting/ and better than I thought.. at least from what I'm hearing..

U2 music from the same disc (Disc #2 of 11) from the "B-Sides 1979-2001" (I keep typing 1980 instead of 1979) set, But ths time it's "Do They Know It's Christmas" by the "Band Aid" project...

Btw, The version of "A Sort Of Homecoming" on this set is the same version as that on the "Wide Awake In America" EP. (I have to trackdown the compiler of this set and ask 'em how were they able to do vinyl to digital transfers without any sound distortion/errors...I still cannot believe a great majority of the older tracks came from B-Sides of vinyl 45's)
