View Full Version : Our Dream 2003 Setlist!
Nightbird_Brett
12-11-2002, 01:28 PM
Hi Ledgies,
With the tour rehearsals sure to be starting within the next few months, I thought we should try something that the fans of the Heart message board did before their summer tour started.
What we did was each post what our dream setlist would be for them to perform during the tour. Heart received the results and even acknowledged at some of the shows that many of the songs added to the setlist were thanks to the fans from the message board.
So I figured we could do the same. When it looks as though everyone has posted what their ideal setlist would be, we could then send the results to FM. We could do this by posting the results on their official message boards as well as mailing it to Stevie, Lindsey, and Mick's official sites.
The way I see it is during the Dance tour, 26 songs were performed at the shows. Now, Stevie has said in the past that she and FM never like to do more than 6 new songs. So let's say that 26 songs will be performed with 6 being new ones. That leaves 20 old songs for us to put on our dream setlist (be kind of realistic in choosing them~~i.e. Don't pick only Stevie or only Lindsey songs - LOL.)
OK Ledgies, I'll quit rambling. Let's really get this thread going. You never know, some of the members of FM might just read it as it goes along.
Brett
Remember - pick 20 old songs.
Here is my dream list:

For the most part, revamp the "war horse heavy" set list...except for the bare minimum of "necessary to play" ones (i.e. first five, last five & Rhiannon as an encore). Yeah, there's more than 20, but they'll PLAY more than 20 (or they'd BETTER play more than 20, that is)
The Chain
Dreams
Oh Well
You Make Loving Fun (Lindsey lead vocal)
Gold Dust Woman
Murrow
Thrown Down
Twist Of Fate
(insert new Stevie tune here)
Steal Your Heart Away
Red Rover
stage change for acoustic set
She Smiled Sweetly
Twisted
Down On Rodeo
Gypsy (AHI type arrangement)
Lola (My Love)
change back to electric
I Don't Want To Know
Long Distance Winner
Don't Let Me Down Again
Silver Springs
Gift Of Screws
(insert new Stevie tune here)
Not That Funny
Sisters Of The Moon
Tusk
Don't Stop (Lindsey lead vocal)
Go Your Own Way
(encores)
Rhiannon
Gotta Get Away
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You
Say Goodbye

I would like to add that I wish they would split the setlist with half new/half old material. I know it's hard for them to do new songs live - the casual fans don't seem to care for them - but it would be great for all of us hardcore fans.
And Joe - opening with Frozen Love! :blob1: Very cool idea! Can you imagine what an incredible night that would be?

I like these songs, but I hope Lindsey doesn't do them one after the other all by himself again. Been there, done that. He probably will, though, since he was doing it as recently as AHI 2001.
Personally, I think all non-FM songs should be dropped - No Stand Back, no Go Insane.

Yes, i was in two minds about whether I would include them in my "dream set list" or not...and the only reason I did was totally selfish i.e. because I personally would really like to see them done live, as I have never had the chance to before. (Go Insane (Acoustic) is my favourite song of all time).
But otherwise, if I was LB, I wouldn't do them anymore, because I would be tired of them.

Nancy, I totally agree about Stand Back. And I *would* agree about Go Insane......But have you ever seen Lindsey sing that song live? OMG! I had to include it. I had to. Seeing him up there, by himself, sweat rolling....*whew*.
I had to.

Hey, well, I see what you mean - he does get VERY intense on that song, but I'm hoping that if they do Come we can get another dose of that thrilling intensity there.

Hmm... It looks like you're asking a question, but I can't tell. Let me introduce you to punctuation. Here's a comma: , Here's a period: .
I'd give you more, but that should keep you busy for a while.

Guys,
Please don't fight. You're making my Smilie sad. I started this thread for us to start getting excited about the tour...not to fight.
Also, remember---there have been rumours that the band reads the posts sometimes...and they might just read this one to see what the fans wanna hear. If they do, you don't want them to see you guys fighting.
And my God, isn't there enough fightin in the world right now? Let's have peace and enjoy each other here.
Wishing you all peace, love, and happiness

Does anyone else agree that TITN would make a killer opener?
Even though Christine is no longer with the group, wouldn't it be great to hear those non "hit" songs live again, like Love in Store and Over and Over? oh well......
Thats it for now!

another observation, it seems we ALL are dying to hear Sisters of the Moon! That is probably the song I want to hear most- It's definently in my top 3 Stevie songs. Come on SOTM!!!!!
So we make our choices, when their is no choice, we listen to their voices, and we ignore our own voice...and when the people who gather around you, do you remember that they are the most cruel? And when they ask, could you be my sister, brother, sister, brother...and you say NO BABY!!!! easlkjgashfltvtautvlavntlalawaweu!!!!!!!!!!!
I just love the ending on the mirage version!!! And your right stevie, why do we listen to everyone else instead of our own inner voice???

I appreciate the anti-fighting sentiment, especially since I was merely defending myself. But let me ask: How many of you would have taken those insults without responding?

oh i'm sorry i didn't mean to insult you... i was just asking a question as to whether or not you are a dumbass... really i didn't mean any harm... honest :) but then you insulted my intelligence so i got angry. end of story. hee hee sorry for the misunderstanding! if you don't want to answer my first question then ok... i'll let it drop :) have a nice evening!

I want them to play all the big hits. I don't want to hear anything new or weird or goofy. Here's what I'd like to hear:
1. The Chain
2. Dreams
3. Rhiannon
4. Go Your Own Way
5. Landslide
6. Big Love
7. Stand Back
8. Tusk
9. Dreams
10. Rhiannon
encore:
11. Go Your Own Way
encore:
12. Tusk
I think the best place to sit is about halfway back, out of the mob, & off to the far right -- at least at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre because the exit is to the right & this allows you to light out at top speed before the mob does.
I hope Brett Tuggle plays keyboards & guitar. Or switches with Sharon Celani.

I'm going to respond only with what is left after the songs that I know they WILL do, which are:
Stevie: Landslide (will probably close the show), Rhiannon, Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, Silver Springs, Gypsy
Lindsey: I'm So Afraid, Second Hand News, Go Your Own Way, Tusk, Big Love
Also, The Chain...so that leaves 8 songs:
Long Distance Winner
Welcome to the Room...Sara
Sweet Girl
Sisters or Angel
Tango in the Night
Monday Morning
Don't Let Me Down Again
Twisted
If I could pick just one song for them to do, it would be Twisted, the soundtrack version.

So everyone wants to hear "The Chain" even now? I seem to be the only one who dropped that track out of the setlist. I know, it's only my opinion and we can always disagree. But for my money, I'll surely miss the "high" voice there (yes, there's Sharon and Mindy but... it's not the same)... and... a link in the chain is gone, so the chain is actually broken.
But I could be over-reacting to something that is absolutely meaningless, though.
