...there's a very famous one (it's in the Rumours piano/vocal book, if nowhere else) of Stevie playing acoustic with the Mac, at what looks like a live concert rather than a staged shot.
Anyone have ANY clue which song it is?

Anyone have ANY clue which song it is? Nope. I've wondered for years. There are a few clues, though.
1. Christine's hair is single-curled with the curling iron. She did this in early '77.
2. Chris has an effects box on her electric piano, which she used only on "Gold Dust Woman," to my knowledge. That supports the '77 date.
3. Chris is playing the organ, which for '77 eliminates "Say You Love Me," "Rhiannon," "Landslide," "Station Man," "Gold Dust Woman," "Second Hand News," "Don't Stop" & "Believe Me."
4. Lindsey is playing the Les Paul, which for '77 eliminates "Landslide," "Oh Daddy," "Never Going Back Again" & what else? "Over My Head"? "The Green Manalishi"?
5. Stevie is singing, which for '77 eliminates "Oh Well."
6. Stevie is in pants, which might indicate a '77 tour dress rehearsal rather than an actual show.

Ok, going by your detective work David, any chance Stevie could be playing the acoustic section of Go Your Own Way during a rehearsal for the Rumours tour?
:wavey: :wavey: :wavey:
p.s. can somebody please post a link to this pic so I can see it! thanks!:)

"Over My Head" - yes - Lindsey on Strat
"Green Manalishi" - no, at least not if the '75 footage I have is any guide
but you missed
"Monday Morning" - yes - Telecaster
As far as what she's playing: IIRC she's playing something capoed up the neck, while Lindsey's playing a low F chord - could WELL be "Go Your Own Way".

At first i thought no way could she be playing "Go Your Own Way"...but then again, stranger things have happened. I mean, I never thought i'd see Christine performing in concert on acoustic guitar as well as pounding the snare drum!
Any chance of me seeing this pic? I think i know which one it is...but it's only a close shot of Stevie with the acoustic.

Thanks a lot! What a great picture! What song is that by the way?? (All I can tell is that it looks like it's from the Tusk tour!)
Now if somebody could please post that picture of Stevie playing the guitar (as described above) I'd be a very happy bunny...!:)
cheers!

:D You're welcome! But sorry, lol...I have no idea what song it was. I was just looking at pics on the net one day, a long time ago, and found this one. I do agree that it looks like the Tusk era, though. Anyone else have any ideas?

On the outtake reel of the Tusk documentary, Lindsey, Stevie and Christine sing "Save Me a Place" with Chris and Lindsey both playing guitar. I don't know if that's what they're doing there, but it's the only other time I've seen Chris with a guitar and it was during the Tusk tour, so it could be.

Christine definitely played guitar on "Save Me A Place." I have a video from a live 1979 show in Landover, MD and she played guitar on that song. By the way, that outtake from the Tusk Documentary, I believe is from a Tusk Rehearsal, not an actual live show. I also have the video of the rehearsal, and "Save Me A Place" is on there, too with Chris on guitar. She also plays guitar on "The Ledge" on the rehearsal tape. I have another video from a live 1978 show in Landover, MD on the Rumours tour and she played drums on "Second Hand News" on there.

Thanks, Nancy! But okay, now I have a question, lol.:D How many different Tusk documentary/outtake/rehearsal videos are there? I have the Documentary, and the outtake video, where Lindsey rolls his eyes at Stevie, lol... but, is this the same one where Chris is playing guitar? 'Cause I don't remember that being on there. :) Then again, I haven't watched it in a really long time, so maybe I just forgot.

Well, I just read Macfan57's post....and now I definitely know I am gonna have to dig out all those videos and watch them again, lol! I have those two Landover videos also, but I guess I was off in SnL la la land or something:rolleyes: :p  , because I sure as heck don't remember Chris playing drums. Come to think of it, though...seems like I do remember her playing guitar on one of them. Too bad there's not a video of Stevie playing. That would be cool.

I have the Largo (Landover, MD) shows from both 1979 and 1978....anyway, what is this "outtake from the Tusk Documentary"???

The Tusk Outtakes is a bootleg video of footage that never made the final commercially released Tusk Documentary tape. There's a little behind the scenes footage, some live footage that I believe is from the St. Louis show and more footage from a Tusk tour rehearsal. It's actually pretty good quality, too.

what live footage from the documentary is there? i'm a HUMONGOUS fan of that film....i have a tape of an alternate performance shot of "The Chain" and then there's a quick clip after that of the band leaving the stage at the end of the concert and Stevie says "goodnight you guys" and gives a little wave and that's it. The rehearsal footage is "Landslide", "Save Me a Place", "Rhiannon" and "Oh Daddy"...
is there more than this that i have yet to see??????

Joe,
The other live footage from St. Louis that I was referring to was the alternate footage of "The Chain" plus Stevie's goodnight. As far as I know, there is no other live St. Louis footage, although I wish there was.

Ok, fine!, seeing as not a single member of The Ledge seems to have/want to post this mysterious photo, I did a bit searching and I found this on BuckinghamNicks.net....
http://www.buckinghamnicks.net/slphotos/SnLBuckNicksConcert2.html
Is this the picture that we're talking about??
I simply cannot tell whether Stevie's guitar is capoed or not, but her hand position (at around the 7th and 8th frets) seems ok for GYOW...and also Lindsey looks like he's playing a C5 chord which also suggests GYOW.

Thanks so much for posting that!
See? To the folks who have implied that Stevie can't play because it was too much work, or she wasn't interested or smart enough.......
Granted I'm sure she is NOOOOOO Lindsey or Christine by a long shot, but she CAN play an instrument, and she does know a fret from a frock.

It's just that I always found it fascinating that, as regards her piano playing (I can't really speak about her guitar playing), she plays exactly the same today as she did 25 years ago. When I compare her "Rhiannon" on "Enchanted" (1998) with her piano "Rhiannon" demo (1978), it's as if a day or two separated the skill level of each one instead of 20 years. It's sort of mind-boggling to me that she plays piano all the time but her facility hasn't progressed any -- hasn't even evolved. It's uncanny; I don't know of anyone else who has done or could do that, even if he tried.
Now I like her guitar playing on that one demo on "Enchanted." What is it? "Twisted"? I think she's actually a better guitar player than piano player. But I think she'd be the first to admit that she's not really an instrumentalist. I guess she just has no interest in that area. Unless she's been holding out on us ... maybe she's Lester Young's own daughter on the tenor sax.

Aw, any of them would be riot on a tenor sax or recorder!
Can you see Lindsey jamming and getting his "climax face" on say, a set of bongos or a ukelele? LMAO!!!!
Or Mick on the piccolo prancing all around?
John getting all spiritual on the cello or violin?
Find a pic of that and you've really got something! heehee!!
I agree Stevie is a better guitar player than keyboards based on what we have heard. She is pretty decent on Twisted on the Enchanted Box set.
Who knows why she hasn't evolved on the piano? I can't say. ITA, though that she would be the first to say she is not an instrumentalist, that is why she never did it on stage, thus causing the erroneous belief that she can't play anything.
