Just speaking viscerally...
She writes lyrics that I connect with on an emotional level.
She's vulnerable and fragile, yet tough as nails at the same time.
Her voice captures my attention in a way no other voice ever has.
She comes across as very honest and forthright... yet she gives off enough mystery and intrigue to keep me fascinated.
And... despite all of her finery, and the trappings of fame and wealth, she still seems like someone one could share a hearty laugh with.

I like her because she's different, not your run of the mill singer/songwriter. She does her own thang and has never strayed from that by giving into what others want/expect.
I love that she is into the magical part of rock and roll because that's how I feel about music in general, it's magical the way it can change your life, make you happy, sad, angry, etc.
She's a cool chick! :nod::cool:

Her lyrics are beautiful and easy to relate to.. they can fit into anyone's life in different ways.
She has an incredibly unique voice that I never get tired of listening to.. be it early Stevie or Stevie of today.
I love the mystical stuff like she writes about and I always see great visuals when I listen to the songs.
Most of all, she isn't afraid to speak her mind and share her feelings and/or experiences with anyone.

Her stage presence was actually the first thing that caught my attention. I just thought it was hilarious, watching The Dance back when that was really the only Fleetwood Mac I knew, when she would just start twirling with her tambourine, when she busted out on Silver Springs and Gold Dust Woman, etc. She's entertaining to watch as well as listen to. Then when I found stuff like Rhiannon from Rosebud, The Chain (and almost everything else) from the Mirage tour, as well as many other things, I was just hooked.

Her voice was the first thing that attracted me to her music. It was just so moving...I couldn't/can't get enough of it, she's such a beautiful woman...and her lyrics really speak to me as well...so it's a combo of everything that makes her the Stevie we all love: The voice, her style, her words....all of it...she just kicks ass!!

Annnywayyyy.....the first thing that drew me to Stevie was her voice. I just have this thing with scratchy voices. I've always loved them. Bonnie Tyler, Kim Carnes, Rod Stewart, etc...but Stevie is my fav, of course. lol.

I agree with Alex in that I could write a very long, annoying post gushing on and on about things we already know, but I will just say that I am always attracted to real writers and musicians.
I have never been interested in mere "performers". People who write and play music well fascinate me, and then there are those very few like Stevie and Lindsey. They write from a true artistic place in the soul that everyone knows, but is not always able to connect with. Their music helps me connect to that place and stay there, therefore, it helps my expression and creativity. To me, it just pure artistry on display.
I absolutely cannot paint or draw without some form of S&L playing. Now, isn't that "wierd"?
Also, DownonRodeo....you rock!

The very first Stevie song I heard was Sara when I was like, 9. Mom and dad had the green greatest hits album and I HATED it with a passion. But when I heard Sara, I would shut up and listen. Till this day, that is the most beautiful song I've ever heard. When I was around 16, I heard it for the first time in a very long time, and ran right out (and I do mean ran) to buy the very album I despised as a kid... the green greatest hits album.
It was basically the most beautiful voice I'd ever heard, and till this day, no one can top it!
The rest is history.

Stevie has two gifts in my humble opinion: her ability to write the most beautiful lyrics I have ever heard in a rock song, and her ability to reach out to and capture an audience.
Since I knew her lyrics long before I actually got to see her live, I'd have to say that it's the lyrics that made me a fan.
Her lyrics speak to people-it's like she's been there and she knows how you feel. How she is able to communicate that I don't know; I just know she does it.
She has a great voice, too, but so do Christine Mc Vie and Annie Lennox=:-)

This was it exactly that caught my attention, her stage presence during The Dance. I used to really dislike FM in the 70s. Thought they were all weird, (You know the "witch" thing.), but then I got really listening to the lyrics, the music. I like all the members now, but Stevie is a big part of this band. Everything that everyone has mentioned has made me a big fan of Stevie's. Her voice, her lyrics that I can relate to, her style (& twirl), her stage presence (& chemistry with FM), & her tambourine banging, let's not forget (LOL). But most of all, I admire her as a person. She's been through so much in her personal life & still came through it all. Like a said in another thread, I can not imagine how anyone can dislike her. She is a real gem.
Lee :)

I would have to say everything about Stevie: her beautiful voice, the way she harmonizes, her powerful and emotional lyrics, her beauty, her style, her grace, etc......everything! She is just fabulous; enough said!

I've loved Stevie since the 80's. I was depressed as a teenager and Stevies music really helped me get through that. I've been a die hard fan ever since.
For me it's her lyrics. some people say they have no idea what shes singing about, but I can always relate. I love the music too.
Stevie is soooo beautiful. Her whole persona & that gorgeous face! The mystical side of her is also what draws me in. I'm not really into all that stuff, but there is something about it that catches my attention.....

I can't decide if it was her voice or her words...Both knocked me out together at the same time. The first time I was consciously exposed to Stevie and the Mac was in the summer of 1996 and my best friend Julia had the green greatest hits cd. We had a stereo and were sitting in the park one night on a picnic blanket drinking beer (I was on the edge of 17), and she popped in that cd and Rhiannon, the first track came on, and I was absolutely blown away. Julia was telling me how awesome Stevie is, but she didn't have to...I was completely in awe. Gypsy and Sara are also on that cd. I opened the case and saw her picture. The one where she's sort of lying on her side with the top hat on, looking like a sex goddess. I couldn't get over how cool she is, and I just ran out and got that cd, and then every other Mac cd, then Timespace, then The Dance came out and I was in ecstacy....:]
Her words and her voice, definitely.
