Hi Ledgies,
It's time to start a new Survivor. By a vote of 13 to 7 "Wild Heart" won the Wild Heart survivor.
Oh and for those of you that sent me emails about the hurricane thanks again for the concern. I really lucked out. My house is fine. No trees fell on it. And miraculously my electricity stayed on. There are many people whose homes are in bad condition though. It is sad to see.
Talk to you all later.

My verbal vote goes to Imperial Hotel. I really do like this song. In fact, I like all of these songs.. that one was just my least favorite of the choices.

How can anyone vote off I Sing for the Things?? That is such a beautiful song!

See, this is my favorite Stevie album really.

This album has gotten me thru so many things and its like the soundtrack to my 19-20-21 years...and now its an old friend. I get these urges to hear it probably more than any other Stevie album.

So no matter what anyone chooses...Im going to be outraged.

I took off Some Become Strangers. After that maybe Sista Honey...I like how she sings it but it isn't the best song I suppose...then maybe Imperial Hotel...

But I Sing for the Things is going to be one of my last choices.
Personally, far better IMO than Has Anyone Ever Written...( hiding for cover!!!).......................does anyone agree?

I voted off I Can't Wait...it's my least favorite on the ablum, I can't even get past the intro...so I rarely rarely listen to the whole thing...

But I Can't Wait is so energetic...so rock-like of Stevie. To me, it's one of the only songs that fits the title "Rock a Little."

If I had my way (which it looks like I won't), I'd get rid of the title track Rock a Little first, just because, for once, Stevie's voice totally aggrevates me on it. Plus the music just isn't ear-pleasing to me at all. There just isn't much of a flow to the song...sounds like a garbled mess, and I don't think I've ever been able to fully get through this song the whole way. I just can't. My second song that would go would be I Sing for the Things, again because her voice is just a little irritating -- not NEARLY as much as it is on Rock a Little, but still just a little. Then next would go The Nightmare...I know it was the 80's, but this one's just got TOO much synthesizer to it. Then I'd have to think hard about the rest, but those are the three songs I skip.

Now I have a question. Are you going to put Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You on there after the first song has been eliminated?

Janet,
I totally agree with you about "I Sing For the Things". I saw that you had my fave part of the song as one of your quotes: "I'll take off my cape for you...." That part always gets me. Oh and Sorcerer I will add "Has Anyone" after the first song is voted off. There is a ten option limit. That's why.

you're right....but are you hinting that this would be the one you'd pick???

i don't care if it is but prepare for some bashing from others!!!

Personally, i didn't like it at first...but "that was then...this now"!!!

i HAVE to pick "sister honey"...i'm sorry, but this song is NOT stevie to me...it's too funky and upbeat...i mean, it's ok and i can listen to it but i think out of all of them i would pick it.

i agree with you on her voice...if it were done a few years earlier it may have sounded better. There's a better version out there that has an alternate vocal. I bought an "I Can't Wait" 12 inch extended remix and it has an alternate vocal/mix of "Rock a Little" on it as well...I liked the song much more after i heard it.

Joe, I think he only put Has Anyone... last because it's the last song on the album. He just picked the first ten. I actually knew someone was going to mention that, and I thought of it too, but then I remembered it was the last song. For some reason, I always want to think it came before No Spoken Word, no idea why. Now with Other Side of the Mirror, I assume Doing the Best That I Can and I Still Miss Someone will be left off until there is room to put them on. I might be wrong, heh. Really only Nightbird_Brett can answer that.

I'm so surprised I'm the only one who picked The Nightmare to go first! There are several songs on the album that are really too 80s for my taste now, but in addition to having too much synth, melodically the Nightmare it is AWFUL. It's nearly monotone at some points. Ugh. I think this is one of her worst songs ever. Even though some of the lyrics are ok, the lack of melody totally overshadows the good. Stevie, please no more collaborations with your dear brother!

haha! i really didn't like this song in the beginning when it came out but i've grown to like it enough to listen to it occasionally...one of the cool things i've always thought about it is that it references some of her older FM songs:

"...well i stood with you against the storm and i, i tried it once again/well i said 'i'd like to leave you with something warm'/how many times 'drowning in the sea' baby drowning....so about the moon and her sisters...how dare he take them prisoner..."

Let me see, that covers "Storms", "Sisters of the Moon" and "Sara"...i can't remember if there's anymore song references.

And...i don't think she co-wrote anything with her brother after this. i guess that speaks for itself!

Wow, you know I've never been able to even listen closely enough to get those references. I make it through the first verse, with it's fairly pretty
"Thrown down through the arms of sleep
She fell through the ivory morning
Deep into the waters
Of the one she called love" and have to hit the skip button! Now that I know they're there, the references do make the song more interesting (and maybe more tolerable---um, nah... lol)
