Ha! I pulled it out after allowing it to rest for a few months a couple of weeks ago.

It's a modern classic, for sure!

It's like bombay sapphires.......

Cool... seems like a lot of us are re-visiting 'Trouble In Shangri-La' lately.

I hadn't listened to the album as a whole in a couple of months, but I've listened to it about three times this week.

The newness has worn off, but the music still entertains me and moves me... and it captures my attention just as it did over a year ago.
I think ten years from now (hell, maybe even five), this one will be considered to be right up there with 'Bella Donna.'

"Who is the master?"... you are, Stevie. :)

I just listened to it again a couple of days ago. Hadn't played it in about two months....and it sounded even more awesome than it did the first time I heard it, just 'cause I realized how much I had missed hearing it, I guess. lol!! Fall From Grace just kicks @ss! It's still my favorite song on TISL:nod:

*sighs* I just got done listening to Fall From Grace...this album is a classic, and it's only about a year old. Very few people can pull that off like Stevie can...

Also, I used to dislike Sorcerer, but now I love it! You can totally rock out to it. I still don't like Candlebright much.

seriously though..i

it builds slowly...a lover waiting for her lover to return...this strange mysterious string section running through it...it was one of my [and remains] favorites off the album..

I also REALLY like "I Miss You"...not really the chorus [which musically becomes too bright] and some of the lyrics which seem awkward [he told me about fame as only he could explain it to me] but the other parts "When I think about you.." something about Stevie's voice is so convincingly weary and longing on that track...

I listened to it on the way to school today, and while waiting 15 minutes for a damn parking space...but that's another story. The only song that I can't really find too much to like is It's Only Love. I generally don't skip tracks on TISL...only if I'm going somewhere that takes like, 15 minutes, then I pick which songs I'm in the mood to hear. Generally, one of those songs is not It's Only Love. The other two that I don't listen to much are Candlebright and Love Changes, but there are things in the songs that make me like them. On Candlebright it's mostly the end...especially the VERY end when Stevie screams "STILL I LOVE YOU!" As for Love Changes, I just like the chorus a lot, but the song as a whole, musically and all, just tends to be a little dry.

As for Sorcerer, which I love, I've been wondering a lot about the "black ink darkness" being all around. Although Stevie says this song is about Lindsey and her moving to Hollywood and that it was so scary for her, I only find references to her in the music business at the time. It just sounds to me like she's frustrated because she has all these songs, but none of them may ever be heard if she doesn't make it in the music industry. And I think that I think about Sorcerer this way due to the video which takes several looks at Stevie in this room (her finery) with all these sheets of lyrics lying around, and she's up and pacing about how to get them out. Then on "All around, black ink darkness," the lyrics (granted of TISL) all start appearing all around her, like they are haunting her...they are the black ink darkness. I really like the end when she looks at all the music and just turns away and starts walking into that light, like she's saying "I made it." So, that's my take on Sorcerer...which is strange because I certainly didn't intend to give my full review of Sorcerer, lol. :wavey:
