For those who had to rediscover FM, which songs did you recognize but had no idea it was FM
1) Big Love.
Actually most of my memories of Mac was from TITN. When i picked up the CD this year and played it I thought Big Love sounded pretty cool, but when the chorus came, I felt like i went through a time warp. "looking out for love..."! sent a chill down my spine. This of course is my favorite Mac song now.
2) Wish You were here
When i first picked up Mirage, for some reason i found myself singing along to track 12, which was pretty weird because i couldn't remember where i knew this song from. When the chorus came on, it all came back to me. One of my aunts had this song on a tape and used to play it all the time.

Oooh, tons of songs I've done that with.
Gypsy was my big one, I heard it on the radio and was like, "Oh, must be Velvet Underground" and so I was telling a friend who likes FM too and she was like, "You DORK, it's FM!" and so that was my first formal introduction to them, and I started absorbing as much as I could.
I also did that with songs on the radio : Monday Morning, Dreams, The Chain, Gold Dust Woman, You Make Lovin' Fun, Go Your Own Way, Hypnotized.
Don't Stop I knew subconsiously from Clinton's use.
For awhile, like every song on the radio that I'd ask about would be Fleetwood, it almost got to be scary, like a conspiracy by my dad to never let me hear Fleetwood in my life and know it.

Go your own way
Draems(ok, before I liked FM I'd never heard this version before, but have heard the cover by The Corrs)
Little Lies.
I actually didn't rediscover FM, but my mum used to play them to me when I was a baby.

"Little Lies", "Hold Me" and "Don't Stop", mostly.
Song of the moment - Man Of The World
at first.. looooong time ago, I wasn't at all aware that Need Your Love So Bad was a mactune. Or any of the green-stuff.

In the UK for a long time The Chain was used as the theme for Formula 1. And so many people had no clue it was by Fleetwood Mac!

lol....I was about to post exactly the same thing....! I think I went through watching F1 for about 7 years from '84 to '91 without knowing what that AWESOME theme tune was.....!! I eventually found out in '92 when I went go-karting for the first time and they played it...I asked one of the marshalls and I still remember exactly what he said..."It's The Chain....wicked Fleetwood Mac tune!"......I was already in love with "Tango In The Night" so I just thought..."Coooool!!!!!":)

What is Formula 1?
Man, I must be old....I never had an experience with the BN line-up like that.
I didn't know that Black Magic Woman was an old FM tune, though until a few years ago.
Once in 1992, my stupid 15 year old brother was in our garage with a bunch of his friends, and "Sweet Emotion" came on the radio. He said, trying to lok like a know-it-all, "This is such a cool new song..." I know I should have waited....I should have been a good older sister and not embarrassed him in front of his friends...but I couldn't help it! I just blurted out, "You are dumber than a box of rocks! That is a 70's Aerosmith song!"
Damn young 'uns!!!

Oh, thanks, I thought it must be television show, or something like that, in order to have a theme song.

I didn't know FM did "Little Lies" and "Hold Me" until like '98.

Well, I never really got any FM songs confused except for the difference between Stevie FM songs and Stevie solo songs. Before The Dance, I thought Dreams and Gypsy were both Stevie solo songs.

I didn't have any idea, until just a couple of years ago....(actually, I think it was when I got my computer three yrs. ago)...that "Holiday Road" was a Lindsey song...or that Stevie sang on Kenny Loggins' "Whenever I Call You Friend". :)
I don't think I've ever gotten any FM songs confused, though.:D

This year, when I became a fan, I'd only just realised that Little Lies was by FM. I liked it when I was younger(5 or 6)and had no idea who sang it.

When I heard "Silver Springs" on the radio in 1997 and the announced said "Fleetwood Mac" I thought oh, that's a 70s group, right? I had NO name recognition with them at all.
So I go to the store and buy the Dance and I look at the Greatest Hits as well and I'm like - "What, Hold Me? Gypsy? Little Lies? Cool!" Angrily, I noticed none of these were on the Dance (what kind of a live show doesn't have these their 'great hits', I thought) but I bought the Dance anyway.
Put that in - "Oh! 'Thunder only happens when it's raining'...I know this song! Oh! ' I never did believe in miracles'...I know this song! ' Don't Stop thinking about tomorrow"'....hey I know this song! You get the idea. lol
And so I saw the light and realized yes, FM is the best band that ever existed!

I swear to this day I heard Eyes of the World somewhere. I remember hearing "in the eyes of the world" with some guy singing it with an acoustic guitar, actually in a slow tempo.
P.S. Did Lindsey ever perform that song in his solo tour and in a slow tempo (on that "Centerstage" performance?)

I don't know about songs, but here was a big newsflash. I knew of songs from Bella Donna, TWH, and RAL before I knew Stevie was in FM. Really, a friend had to tell me.

When I was young, I never knew Rhiannon was a Fleetwood Mac song. I just knew it by hearing it on the radio and I loved it. A couple of years later, I knew it as a "Stevie Nicks" song because that's what they always referred to it as. It wasn't until later I found it's true origin.

When I first got into them in the mid-70s I was surprised that "Over My Head" was one of their songs. Thats about it.

This may be a little off track but in late 1981 when I first heard Dont Let Him Go by REO Speedwagon I thought it was a new Fleetwood Mac song, as they were coming out with a new album. The DJ never referenced the band so I went to the record store and asked the clerk about DLHG and he said "oh that's REO" and I was like **** I guess no new music yet!!!

Lindsey did Eyes of The World on his Cradle Tour, although it wasn't on the Centerstage show.
It's a little different to the Mac one on Mirage, and this tour, but it's good fun. Lot's of energy, and a slightly longer guitar solo.

I was totally surprised too when I found out that Holiday Road was Lindsey's song. I've seen that movie so many times and I liked the theme song but I never thought about who sang the song.

The ONLY two songs I actually knew were FM songs before the Dance were Gypsy and Little Lies, Gypsy for the video (was sooo disappointed when it wasn't on the Dance), and Little Lies b/c of incessent radio play. However I did know of, and lliked, their music, just had no clue who the band was. Wait let me revise that I also remember BTM, not the best FM album to relate to the group, but I remember when my dad bought it and played it in the car. Funny thing though when I got TVBOFM album the song Seven Wonders came on and I just started singing to it, considering we don't have Tango and that song hasn't been on the radio in ages I guess I just remember it from when I was really young, same for Stevies Talk to Me. So subconsiously I've always known their music, just happen to be slightly more aware now.
Say You Love Me!
I never heard the song until I watched The Dance and they did it and I was like "I KNOW THAT SOMEWHERE!" I remember hearing it on the radio when I was little. I guess that would be my first exposure to Fleetwood Mac.
I also heard songs like Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, and Dreams without knowing it was Fleetwood Mac. But I was pretty young then.

I remember thinking that "Gypsy" was just Stevie solo. I also thought "Big Love" was Lindsey solo. I guess mine aren't that far from the truth!
