The Dixie Chicks', that is!!!
On CMT last night......I just happened to hit that channel when it was starting......how's THAT for timing!!!!!!!??!!!
Anyone else who has seen the video think Natalie totally has a Stevie Nicks look thing going on??!!! I definitely do. Her clothes, anyway!
I really do like their version.......VERY VERY similar to how they did it on Divas Las Vegas......even down to the "uh-uuuuh, uh-uuuuh, uh-uuuuuh"'s in the middle (though nothing beats Stevie's voice in that mix!!!).
And it is, of course, great to see at the end, when they put the name of the song and artist up on the screen, it says "Songwriter: Stevie Nicks" at the bottom. Oh yeeeeaaaah!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't it have been great though, if they would've had Stevie singing in their version, even if she just came in on the very last line or two? And then in the video she could appear at the very end with them all standing around (or whatever they're doing in the video) smiling and being Dixie Chick-ish! Or at least in the video if she wasn't there it would be great if they were all dressed as themselves(whatever that is like-I'm not into country at all) but they were all wearing black or camel colored Stevie-style platform boots!!!

~~~Was lucky enough to catch the "Landslide" video on Country channel. WOW!!! What a stunningly beautiful video and I love Natalie's version of the Stevie classic. What a tribute to Stevie who must be so proud. As has been noted Natalie totally has a Stevie look going on...~~~
Now I'm going to have to scan CMT for it....I don't think I've ever turned on that channel in my life, lol.
Besides Natalie, one of the sisters ( the blonde one) has a very Stevieish look as well. She's wearing a black Stevie-type dress. Very pretty video!
Not one of my favourite Chicks videos. I didn't really care for it, but the girls did look very Stevie-ish! Emily looked gorgeous in the white dress...I didn't realize she was that far along in her pregnancy!
I thought it was a pretty simple video..they all looked cool..Natalie had the serious Stevie vibe going on for sure...i don't think i am gonna be watching CMT to often to catch it again though,lol.
I was looking at CMT yesterday trying to catch this video too. Instead I got "sucked" into watching the story of Loretta Lynne...interesting......very interesting!! I'll be a country junkie before I'm through. :)
Dixie Chicks version of this song is excellent. I may even buy the album.
Stevie Nicks....the most covered member of Fleetwood Mac
hate country music with a passion...But thats was the "Old" country music. The "New" country is very cool sounding, Better than alot of the crappola that's being played on the radio or Empty-Vee. There is much more melody to the "New" country than there is in the lame "Pop" genre...Its recommended if you just want some honest non-contrived music, Brian J.
I hear ya! The past few years I have been getting more and more into new country. It's much more easy on the ears, and you can understand what the person is saying...amazing! :lol: Although, I pretty much only listen to the women of country.
Heather, I'm the same...I like alot of new country but really *very* few of the men!! I love the Chicks...gonna have to get the album when I ever have money again... :)
LOL...guys...beware of watching CMT "once in a while just to catch this video"...this is how I got into country in the first place. The Beach Boys did an album in '96 where they had a bunch of top country artists singing lead on their favorite songs, and the Boys were singing backup. They had a few singles with videos come out and being played on CMT once in a while (supposedly, LOL, I saw one on a documentary and part of another in an ad, and nothing else!), so of course I started tuning in once in a while...well, I never saw a single Beach Boy in any way, shape or form, but I came out as a Shania Twain/LeAnn Rimes/Dixie Chicks/lots of other people I can't remember right now fan......lol, jwd, you hit the nail on the head. :laugh:
As for me I don't have a TV... :( So I'll have to get my mom (also now a country fan 'cause of my watching that all the time, LOL...except she likes the twangy stuff......) to keep an eye out for it!
Good to know I'm not the only crazy one! I don't know...their voices sound twangier or something. :laugh: Not to mention they all have small heads, and wear giant hats.
LMAO...I've noticed that too!!! :lol: My mom is really into the men of country...I don't understand it at ALL, and it drives me crazy...they do, they sound *much* twangier! And..the small heads thing..it must be a requirement of the record companies. L.A. wants Britneys, Nashville wants small heads? ;)
I'm glad I'm not alone too!
Oh wow, i totally know what you guys mean. I just recently got CMT at home and I started to watch a little, and was actually liking it. I kept telling myself "no, I can't become a country music fan." But, i don't know, I just really like some of it. You know what song I really love. "Where Would You Be" by Martina McBride. She really has a great voice.
Anyway, I like the video a lot and the Chicks do have a bit of a Stevie fashion vibe going on. And as someone said before, seeing Stevie Nicks after songwriter at the end is really cool:)
...Especially the Chicks, Trisha Yearwood, and yes, Shania Twain. I used to like Shania much more before the "Come On Over" album when her sound was actually more country! I also really like Martina McBride and Faith Hill (liked her more before the "Breathe" album)...I think Stevie fans would absolutely LOVE Trisha's album "Hearts In Armor." Its an old one, but I think its her best, and it has an awesome duet with Don Henley. I think there's something Stevie fans would love about her the way we love the Dixie Chicks.
Speaking of getting "sucked in" to CMT, that happened to me last night. GREAT Show. The Top 40 Women in Country. It was SOOOOOO good. The Chicks were at #13, and, I know Wondergirl will love this, Dolly made the top 5. I am too young to appreciate most of the women on that list (like Minnie Pearl and random others from the 50s and 60s), but I loved it anyway. If anyone knows when this might be on again, please post!:D
