Someone on the Stevie board told me to post over here because I am honest about Lindsey's major contribution to Stevie's carreer. I don't like sit around on my fat ass all day dressed up in chiffon and praying to Stevie Nicks shrines. I am a guy anyway! Sorry! So I guess I like totally suck. Anyways I do think Lindsey is the sshining light for Stevie and he hadn't been in her life she would be a teacher somehwere with her hair up in a bun and a big fat rear. My fave Lindsey album is Go Insane and his biggest work of genious was Sara, which is a really BAD song, but sounds good with what he did to it. So take that "Weezer" on the Stevie board!! :D :wavey: :D TheWWO

I read that post...WWO...and laughed!! I mean, why did you choose a Stevie-themed name for your screen name if you are such a LINDSEY FANATIC! LOL He never wrote a song with "just like the WHITE WINGED dove..." in it!
Anywho, my fave Lindsey solo is OOTC, but DANGIT, if he would PUT OUT GOS, I may have a new fave!!!!:nod: I think he did MAGIC with Gypsy...just LISTEN to that horrid piano demo of the song....then, listen to the greatness that is Gypsy on Mirage. :D
Oh, and BTW...I don't dress in suits, with mascara on my lashes and worship my...I mean...a Lindsey shrine...

I used to raise doves and homing pidgeons. Also, I like Stevie Nicks I am just not afriad to say she's not all that all the time. Lindsey's more talented by leaps and bounds. Stevie made it due to him. :wavey: :wavey:  :wavey:

I meant to say my name is WhiteWinged ONE (cause of my former defunct bird collection not because of Stevie really) not WhiteWingedDove. I see someone else has my similar screenname. So I am WWO and not Adam I guess. I could change my name if it helps people stay off my back on the stevie board, though!:p :p ;) :wavey: :D

All Lindsey fans are most welcome here!
Birds are not easy to raise (been there on a small scale).
Can't say I'm suprised to hear honesty got you kicked off the other board. Happens to us Lindsey fans all the time.
Stevie has her moments, she writes some imaginative (?)
lyrics, but I agree she needed Linds to really craft her music.
Yeah I'm putting my head in a noose here. WTH I'm entitled
to my opinion, and so are you WhiteWingedOne (cool handle

We are ALL entitled to our opinons, I agree. I also agree, don't change your name, if you don't want to. I think I got you mixed up with Adam at first too!! LOL Oh well, at least, we can go by WWO for ya. :)
I love Stevie, but LINDSEY is first and foremost my fave member of FM. He's the reason I came to FM and I am eternally grateful to him for his music, guitar work (which inspired me to take up the guitar!!), lyrics and humbleness. Just like Stevie fans are grateful to her for her lyrics and music. We all have our faves..songs, members, etc...so, to each his own. ROCK ON!!

You know I didn't want to get drawn into this but you really do need to grow up WWO. I am a Fleetwood Mac fan and I love them all. But to catagorise all Stevie fans by saying don't like sit around on my fat ass all day dressed up in chiffon and praying to Stevie Nicks shrines is downright immature and insulting. (no doubt you will claim is is a joke)
You think Sara is a bad song? Fine...that is your choice but maybe you should learn some good manners

No, they're not on another planet, they're just on another forum.
In fact, from what you sparked on that forum, I'm almost waiting for the revengeful "Lindsey Sucks, Stevie's Great" post on this Lindsey forum.

These forums are set up to give people the opportunity
to express their opinions Gypsy, but I think the statement
was made to a certin person and probably came from
singed feelings at being told he wasn't welcome.
We all tend to get a bit extreme in the heat of the moment.
We Lindsey fans have taken our share of abuse here
as well, and we've all lived through it.
Also, if you didn't want to get into it...why did you post??

Nope wasn't a joke at all! I really think some people do that! They may make variations on their days, though. I'm sure Barbara won't mind me posting this....
speaking as one of the Ledge moderators, all Fleetwood Mac fans are welcome to post on each and every one of the forums available here.
It has been very apparent over the years, that some of the band members have extremely loyal... and vocal (;))... fans.
Which is why there are so many forums available here, as opposed to just one or two.
It seems to me that the only time arguments occur is when a fan of one member posts on the forum dedicated to another, seemingly to chastize those particular fans.
And i'm not referring to just Lindsey fans doing this on the Stevie forum, or Stevie fans doing it on the Lindsey forum, or even Rick Vito fans doing it on the Peter Green forum.
It's disrespectful no matter what the scenario is.
ALL opinions are welcome. They always have been.
It's all a matter of how you present it.

Its funny
I am 25 years old. I work about 55-60 hours a week. I live on my own and LOVE music.
My favorite band of all time is Fleetwood Mac. I have Stevie posters on my wall. I have Lindsey posters on my wall. I have Stevie bootlegs, videos and cd's...I have Lindsey bootlegs, videos and cd's. Lindsey makes me melt with his amazing looks and beautiful guitar playing and wonderful singing. Stevie mesmorizes me with her magical lyrics, gritty voice and her beauty. I just am equally into both. Stevie would be someone without Lindsey...Im not sure sure on the same scale if she and Lindsey hadn't joined FM, if Lindsey didn't include her in the package deal...if Lindsey hadn't molded her earliest songs into hits.
There is no doubt they work together beautifully. Together they are magic, apart they have their own talents...but both are talented.
So I guess Im rare that I love both. I post on both boards. I don't sit around praying to my Stevie shrine dressed in chiffon and I don't sit around feeling sorry for Lindsey because Stevie stole his glory...i do none of that.
Oh well...I know Im not the only one.

WWO, watch your back. When I started posting on the Rumours board with some regularity, I was immediately sucked in to one of these silly arguments. I found it is virtually impossible to have rational discussion with certain Stevie fans around here. And it earned me a so-called "strike," which I presume puts me on some kind of probationary status on the board. I see you've gotten tangled with some of the same characters with whom I exchanged a few choice words. Here's some advice:
-- Always use "in my humble opinion." They seem to like that.
--Whatever you do, don't imply anyone is stupid, even if what they post betrays a less-than-intelligent quality. Logic is often a problem.
--Stevie can do no wrong, despite your quite accurate assessment of where she would have ended up without Lindsey. Of course, I would guess she'd still be waiting tables.
--Oh, yeah, don't ever say anything that might be perceived as an attack on any other Ledgie, regardless of how you meant it.
--Don't call the moderators fascists, even if they... oh never mind.
Ironically I've refrained from attacking anyone recently. Yet at least a couple of people, including a moderator no less, have directed uncalled-for barbs at me. But, hey, as long as they keep worshiping the goddess or refraining from saying anything too controversial about the band, they'll be safe.
Good luck to ye, lad.

Why the heck must we be divided into seperate groups. Segregation has been outlawed. If I had to define myself i would call myself a stevie fan first definitly. But Lindsey's OOTC has to be the greatest album EVER, Bella Donna and rumours are right up there though. So I'm saying that I Love Stevie the most and i love her package of singing, songwriting, looks and musical ability(OK i had to lie somewhere:laugh: ) BUT she can play the piano and guitar blindfolded better then me and most of us here. And lindsey I love too, not in the same way as stevie i would never hang a lindsey poster up anywhere, But he is TRULY i don't know what words to use a genuis, an artist, a whatever. He has more talent in one finger then i don't know. the point is, he's good. how does he harmonise with himself making himself sound like a girl. but now the real point( I've rambled on so much) I'm a stevie fan, I DO NOT WHERE CHIFFON and bow to Stevie(OK cept that one time, but there was NO chiffon. And INCENSE. Come on. i wonder if chris ever had to break up these kind of fights between the real stevie and lindsey.

Ask The ChiffonStepfordWives that question. They're the ones that can't take the heat and get agressive and PMS-out when you say ANYTHING in the Anti-Nicks! I say TOUGH! I love Bella Donna and Wildheart and her commercially successful work. Basically to me she's rock's greatest bull**** artist and it works for her in a weird way. We, as "Chifffon Heads" as some people like to call us, aren't separating anybody into groups. We have been forced to band together, though, in order to stick up for what we believe. I don't think anybody has questioned Lindsey's talent. I adore Lindsey. He is definitely talented, and although I used to not like his solo stuff so much, I am definitely coming around. Especially w/the latest GOS demos. See, I think that's where the problem is. All of these debates are a matter of OPINION. Someone's dislike of Stevie, or Lindsey is OPINION. Not fact. Saying that Lindsey has talent, is OPINION. Saying Stevie has talent is OPINION. But while the "chiffon heads" usually readily admit this, the Lindseyheads don't. They swear it as fact that the man has talent, and that Stevie doesn't. That Stevie would be nothing without Lindsey, yada yada yada. The truth is, NO ONE knows that. That is an OPINION. Who knows, maybe she would have went FARTHER without him, if he hadn't sat on his rear playing guitar all day and night while she supported him. Maybe she, if she had spent that time concentrating on HER career, would have ten number one albums by now...or twenty...or thirty. lol. Who knows??? It's all OPINION. And guesswork.
Ahh...I don't know why I am bothering. I usually don't. LOL:)

Angela, you were on the right track until you tooka very wrong turn there. Clearly likes and dislikes are a matter of opinion. However, being able to ascertain if someone is talented is not necessarily about opinion. Very few people would say Lindsey does not have talent when he plays the guitar, arranges and produces. And if they do, most of us would agree that they would be wrong.
I also happen to like his songwriting and I think he has written some masterful lyrics, despite some stinkers. We can base our arguments about lyrics on our own opinions of what we like or dislike. Therein the issue. Because writing and (barely) singing is all Stevie does, the unending debate about her talent versus Lindsey's will be perpetuated forever. While some of Lindsey's talents are undeniable, much of what makes Stevie great to some is entirely up to debate based on subjectivity. This is why the "subjective" term is often bandied about by Stevie defenders. That's all they have.

Okay...see, you missed my point. That's my fault, lol...after reading over what I posted. I worded a few things wrong. What I meant was that yes, it is a matter of "opinion", if you like Lindsey's or Stevie's work. And yeah, it is fact that he is talented. BUT...so is Stevie. And that is FACT, also. The woman has many solo albums out, to her credit. If she didn't have talent, we never would have seen or heard Wild Heart, RAL, OSOTM, SA, TISL, etc. Now, whether or not you LIKE it is your opinion. But to say that she is not talented, or that Lindsey is a hundred times more talented than she is, is wishful thinking, and "your" point of view. See, in my opinion, I think her songwriting and her singing outweigh Lindsey's guitar playing any ol' day. That's my opinion. And my point. Their level of talent IS subjective.

It is absolutely unnecessary to be rude and insulting in order to state your opinion. These arguments about Stevie vs. Lindsey have been going on for years on The Ledge and to my knowledge nobody's mind has ever changed, and probably never will.

Where would S&L be if they didn't join FM?
If they couldn't make it as Buckingham Nicks, I would guess that Stevie would be a teacher. She would still be writing marvelous songs, but no one would hear them. Lindsey would probably be working at his dad's old coffee plant. He would still be fiddling with his guitar, but neither of them would be anywhere without the other. It was THEIR talent that got Mick interested, and it was THEIR talent that brought FM more into the limelight.
Hmm, just my opinion.

The Stevie vs. Lindsey arguments, who's the "best", who's the most talented, etc. always bothered me because they are such totally different artists. Even their career goals were different. They've always been competitors - but I think that was a personal thing in their particular situation. The old "apples and oranges" cliché comes to mind.
I wonder if they had never been in a band together, would anybody have ever tried to compare these two people? Why would they? And, if they had "gone their own way" from the beginning, which music would I have been attracted to?
My answer is Lindsey. He's the reason I'm here writing this today. I was hooked the minute I saw/heard him on The Dance. AND, I see no reason to be defensive or apologetic. Stevie without Lindsey is simply not my cup of tea and there shouldn't be anything wrong with that being my opinion.
Stevie and Lindsey are two COMPLETELY different kind of musicians with two COMPLETELY different styles and they produce COMPLETELY different music as solo artists. Because Lindsey could arrange Stevie's songs for Fleetwood Mac and occasionally when they were guests on other albums is testament to his talent as an arranger, he's done it for other artists too. He has claimed his major contribution to the band was his ability to make records.
The reason these arguments are so endless and frustrating is that these two people can't be compared.
I looked up "talent" when the thread started on the Rumours Forum (IMO, a subject that was a blatant argument provoker). My Thesaurus says A person who possesses unusual innate ability in some field or activity
I won't rhapsodize on Lindsey's unusual innate abilities (evident at a very young age) - self-taught player of guitar and other instruments, singer, arranger, producer, songwriter, engineer, . . .swimmer! I think he has an amazing list of talents considering he doesn't read music - and . . .what about the hidden ones? ;)
It's good if you can be a fan of both. And it's even better if you can understand and respect the opinions of those who aren't!

Hummm.
In my origional post, I attributed WWO's outburst to have
stemmed from his being told he should be posting on another
forum. I also felt that he would probably somewhat mellow
after getting it off his chest... I see that I was wrong in this acessment.
I believe very strongly in Lindsey's abilities as an artist, I do not however feel that any of Stevie's fans should be called names
or made to feel demeaned in any way. As a Lindsey fan I
don't think that Lindsey would find that amusing either.
I realize we all feel strongly for our favorite FM members
and we often have differences of opinions where they are
concerned; but an open attack on someone just for the
sake of voicing your opinion, is in my opinion, very poor
judgement.
I would welcome another Lindsey fan to this forum WWO
we are a close knit group here, but we also try to have respect
for those of other opinions.
I think there is more than enough room here for Lindsey and
Stevie fans... Yes we will still disagree, and that's healthy,
but being opionated does not give someone the right to
be cruel.
Just my opinion.

Well...where the heck do I begin...I agree with witchy in that we should stop with the name-calling, how old are we, anyways? I don't think that the thread of who's most talented was INTENDED to provoke viciousness at all, just like my whole Interesting Numbers thread was not. I think people around here are EXTREMELY opinionated in certain areas and want somewhere to discuss those opinions, but sometimes, we get heated and resort to sillyness.
Stevie fans are just as welcome on the Lindsey Ledge as Lindsey fans are...and vice versa. It's really sad that we have to rack up our post numbers responding to nonsense. But, I'm sure that someone around here will go, "Then, don't respond." Donahue's mannerisms drive me nuts but I usually agree with his point of view.

I love Bella Donna and Wildheart and her commercially successful work. Basically to me she's rock's greatest bull**** artist and it works for her in a weird way. I think LB slept with his guitar for a BIG REASON!
You are too witty.....but you know here's a thing I think Lindsey Buckingham is the most gifted beautiful human being to walk this earth.....but you aren't interested to know what my opinion is of LB all you can see in your own narrow minded blinkered way is OMG Stevie fan!!!!! she must be totally nuts, dress like Stevie, quote Stevie, be a total Stevie wannabe.....you see unlike you I give each member of the Mac their dues they are each very talented.......I 'm afraid all I get from you is Lindsey is the genius behind the Mac....well what about Peter Green, Mick and John, Bob Welch.....what about Christine and her role within the Mac...all truly gifted people....but all you seem to be out to do is critisize folks who love Stevie's work and who totally get her message, and force feed everyone Lindsey buckingham....not a good way put across your argument....

Sometimes the fans are the worst promoters of what they like.
Personally I got pretty much sick of Nicks and Buckingham as something I will listen to on any regular basis, just up from the Eagles whom I didn't care if I ever heard again from about 1982. Right now I have Then Play On playing though, since I got the CDs I have listened to Tusk once and Sara twice, the white album and Mirage about three times and Rumours I have listened to one or two tracks because I got so much of that album it was up there with Bee Gees and Abba for overkill. Not that this is Nicks or Buckinghams fault or that the music is not good but I am amazed at people who listen to the same music for twenty five years or whatever and never move on! I think Buckingham was a quirky indie type person who got on a major label and having Stevie twirling about and selling the stuff had a lot to do with that where the media is concerned. There is a lot of great innovative stuff that never got the attention, no twirling pre-raphaelite chicks they were breaking up with or whatever, like Television and Tom Verlaine who did these great experimental albums around the same time that were pretty infuential as one example.
I am still pretty much sick of Buckingham and Nicks and their boring past relationship being dissected endlessly, and I tend to skip their tracks for Christine's when I do play the FM albums from then. I have the Buckingham Nicks 1973 thing but otherwise none of their solo stuff and I don't think of them as the heart of FM at all. Too say either of these people are overlooked or slighted is ridiculous to me really, their albums are inescapably everywhere, all of them but the 1973 one anyway. I couldn't stand to listen to either for about fifteen years or more and am only thawing a little lately.

You get 100 points for outspokenness. But that'll cost ya.
Here's what I think: It's hard to argue with most of what you said, and I tend to agree with your sentiment. However, if people can listen to Bach and Mozart throughout their lives, why can't we have a couple of Fleetwood Mac albums to hang on to for 20 years or more? I usually listen to Fleetwood Mac maybe once or twice a month, though Lindsey a little more. Used to be I could sing every word on every FM album I owned. But I've never committed to memory most of the newer stuff.
My main point of contention with you is saying "never move on!" for instance, have you heard Marah or the Strokes or the White Stripes? Perhaps you've listened to Ryan Adams, Whiskeytown or Mulehead. Or maybe you like North Mississippi All Stars, A3 and Kula Shaker? These are all newer artists (actually Kula Shaker has already disbanded) but they are people I listen to.
Ironically, while you slam people for listening to music that is 20 years old or more, you mention an album that is close to 30. Go figure!

Strokes and White Stripes are great. The Strokes are kind of like Television reborn for me. I like Kula Shaker and some of the others you mention too, don't know of a couple at all. I have more Stereolab CDs than FM by a couple but have been getting all the FM on CD lately. I had some one vinyl and one was around all my life almost and I just got the CD, Then Play On. My point is more about people who seem like a record stuck in a groove for x number of years in that all they go for is either the same stuff played over and over (could be Beatles or Elvis, could be FM-Eagles-Aerosmith), and they tend to put down a lot of other and newer music as not important or good. I find the most fanatic people are like this, like the people who watch the same movies umpteen times and know all the dialogue, it scares me. I think a lot of people on this site are bound to be really attached to a certain FM line-up and the whole Rumours drama whatever it is. I am no less a FM fan, just not a fanatic. Part of it is going to be nostalgia I guess though, connecting people to past things in their own lives, like the white album and Mirage do for me, if I listened to them continuously for 20-25 years I think I would lose being able to recall those personal things from when those albums were the new thing. I have had a lot of new things since. Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks or any one artist probably will never be worth my intense attention and if they never go away how can I begin to miss them?

The chiffon thing in terms of being cruel...
Well, yes, it is insulting. I used to sing along with the Stevie Nicks songs arranged by Buckingham and related to the lyrics. I moved on though but even back in the day I didn't try to absorb her personality or image as my own. I guess I can't say I grew along with her I grew out of her. I couldn't stand to think of putting on Belladonna or Rumours because I got sick of it. I got sick of Buckingham's quirky jerky emotional tunes too but once I thought he was all that and a jar of dills. I think though a lot of people can listen to and enjoy the music without the image and personality stuff being the main interest.

I dissected frogs in bio class that had more interesting guts than those 2. how many times do we need to hear about the "package deal" and all that crap? They went out, they worked together and then they broke up. people act like they're major people in history or something and it changed world events!

If you don't know why, here it is:
The tone of the thread starter was confrontational, however there were some interesting opinions and posts and I thought we might be able to continue the discussion in a civil manner.
But since a few people are still making rude and nasty comments, despite several warnings about sticking to the rules, it's now closed.
