That damn song has more lives than a cat...but it was great
the way it was done...too bad stevie's mic cut out at her solo.

I have to admit, when I heard Stevie was doing Landslide again. I was really underwelmed.....But again it makes sense since she really has nothing new to promte except her enduring classics....BUT whoa!! I LOVED THIS VERSION OF LANDSLIDE!!!!
even if Stevie was only singing harmony for the most part...what a breath of fresh air....I found myself no even minding that she was wearing one of the same dresses again....

Its just testement to the fact that our Stevie has written some of rock historys classic songs! ...and the Dixies did her proud!

Landslide rocked. And I loved how much the audience was into the song. They showed that girl from Flashdance ( I think that was her) singing along. Great job!!:p

They ought to make a studio recording of that arrangement & release it as a single to the country music stations, which go in for that kind of sound.

Good job, Stevie & other Chicks! (I don't know their names)

I'm glad that Stevie and the Dixie Chicks got a huge applause from Landslide...

One thought that kept occurring to me throughout the show is that it's totally great that our DIVA Stevie, actually writes her own big hits...Cher, Celine and Whitney can't say the same...

but they're all great singers and I'm glad Stevie's voice kept up especially during the Elvis tribute, that was my big worry!!

hopefully Stevie made some great contacts at the show and maybe Celine, Shakira or even the Chicks themselves perform one of Stevie's tunes on and upcoming album and make it a radio hit. Hey, it worked for Destiny's Child.

But see, it just goes to show HOW MUCH she keeps holding back, and I don't know why she does it. I mean, just go for it Stevie, all the time. What are you reserving?

I absolutely love this song.. and it really has a different impact on me when it is done with just Stevie and Lindsey. However, I really liked this version of Landslide. My only complaint was that the Dixie Chicks totally drowned out Stevie for most of the song. I think they should have turned up Stevie's mic a bit more.. or better yet.. had Stevie sing lead and Natalie and the other Chicks do the harmony part that Stevie was doing. Overall, it was a cool version.

You know, that IS weird that Stevie didn't sing lead on her on song. What's up with that?

I already went there earlier to listen to both of the songs...I liked the Elvis cover song, But "Landslide" kept skipping and stopped playing at exactly 3:00 minutes...Brian

I was not that surprised that Stevie didn't sing lead...she isn't an attention hogger at all...I am sure that she was more than happy to let the Chicks take her song and interpret it in their own way with her just kinda helping out :)

Which IS very true. I think that's part of the reason she really doesn't fit the stereotypical "diva" role. She does have a diva's attitude as we've seen just by her making them fly her out on a private flight. There are also the stories of her storming out of the studio, etc. But, being in a band with two other singers, I think that conditioned her not to be an attention hog.

I thought it was one of the best versions of Landslide I've ever heard!

You know the song started out like it SHOULD HAVE been sung...The Dixie Chicks and Stevie Nicks. You COULD hear both Stevie's and Natalie's voices(a nice blend). But then Natalie got a little carried away and began singing LOUDER then Stevie. I'm sure Stevie wasn't going to try and sing louder to compete, because Landslide's not supposed to be sung like that...it's a mellow song. Towards the end of the song though Stevie worked in some counterpart vocals where you could hear her voice more distinctly. And then that one little part where Stevie sang "solo"..."took my love and I took it down" basically acapella...the crowd went nuts(on Landslide)..it sent goosebumps up and down my body. You might think the mike gave out, but I tend to think that her voice cracked a little, but in an efffective Stevie-esque kind of way. Stevie's voice is an amazing thing....very distinct and something that evokes emotions in many people, especially on a song like "Landslide". She's definitely left her mark in rock and music in general......

ROCK LEGEND first, diva second!!

I agreed, hope it happens.

I downloaded the song and I heard Stevie all the way through the song. It just that Stevie is singing so low you can barely but she IS there.

Actually I have seen this part twice and if your read Stevie's lips you can see that it was sound problems. I was so mad when I first saw it that I started to yell at the tv (lol). I mean, it was at a very important moment of the song and at her solo.

I guess the reason that Stevie did not sing lead vocals is because she was a "special guest" of the Dixie Chicks and not vice versa.....I wish she had sung lead vocal, but then again....she was not a headliner......oh well.....I thought this version was precious, and I LOVED the part where they all went "uh-uh, uh-uh, uh-uh..." in harmony....it was so cute :)

I thought Landslide was pretty damn cool! I'll probably watch it again!

The beginning started out fine where you could hear Stevie's and Natalie's voice but then Natalie got a little too loud. The sound engineers could have brought up Stevie's vocal a bit but that's ok. Everything sounded nicely and I loved the little harmony parts throughout the song.
and gotta love the crowd cheering!!!

You know what? She changed the words to "Take this love, take it now," instead of "take it down." Took me a few times to catch that, but I'm convinced that's what she's saying - check it out!

Ok....let me go have a look-see again.....
I'll get back to ya and let you know what I think she says!! ;) :wavey:
Of course, I will have to brush up on my LIP READING!!!!!!!!!!!
But, I must go see.....

Stephanie

PS. My biggest gripe is not the fact that Stevie didn't sing lead, it's that you couldn't really HEAR her singing at all......and Natalie was too loud....and Stevie's mic totally cut out.........I like what they were trying to do with the song though--worked out kinda well....in theory anyway!!! lol
