The year was 1987...the album was Tango In The Night....my brother bought it and it was the first album I ever listened to from beginning of side 1 straight through to end of side 2...and I loved every second of it..!!! And then shortly after I saw the video for Big Love and I was like........wooooaaahhh....."that bit where they start moving backwards must have taken forever to shoot !!!"............I was FIVE years old !!!!:p

(I was also under the impression that the younger looking guy with the eraser hair style and the long black coat on the inside cover was called "Steve".....and the girl with the boots and the big blonde hair is called "Lindsey"....)

The radio got me into the Mac. The very first song I ever heard by them.. I was 5 years old and I was in the kitchen with my mom and Dreams came on the radio. I will never forget it.. I really liked that song and the voice sounded nice too! Soon after that, my mom went out and bought me the single of Dreams (with Songbird on the other side) because it became my favorite song and she would always play it for me! I still have it too!

Thank God for National Lampoons Vacation!! LOL I heard Lindsey's "Holiday Road" and "Dancin Across the USA" and memories rushed back from when I saw the movie as a kid. Last March, I did some net research to find out his work, his solo stuff led me to the Mac and that is how it all happened, boys and girls. :blob1::blob2:

Of course, I grew up listening to the Mac without knowing it was them, hearing Rhiannon, Dreams, Don't Stop, etc...when I found out who it was that was WAY COOL!! BTW, I heard Dreams on the radio as soon as I got in the car on the way home from work!! :blob1::blob2:

I used to listen to FM when I was little, my mum always reminds me of how when i was about 5 i used to listen to Rhiannon all the time. But it really started in 1997 after the Dance tour, i saw it on TV with my parents and Dad said he would lke to buy the album. He didn't buy it so when Chistmas came around I bought it for him but after 1 day I think it made its way to my cd collection. I then became obsessed and when we had a garage sale to get ride of alot of stuff when we moved i found alot of my parents LP's (i also went through a brrief Sion and Garfunkel stage) they had Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, Tusk, and Tango.

have been hooked ever since.

I blame it on my mother...LOL:laugh: She's the one that got me hooked. First with Stevie...and then with FM. I remember her listening to After The Glitter Fades, and the rest of BD... I can also remember the time she explained to me the details behind the lyrics to Second Hand News. LMAO. I think that was really the beginning of my SnL obsession. That was like in...1990 or 91, I think...I was in high school...and after that, I just couldn't find out enough about FM. There really weren't that many places to find info then, though, and I didn't get a computer until....I think it was 99. I don't know how I ever survived without it, now!! :D

The one good thing my step-mother ever did for me was get me into FM. She had the cassettes of Rumours and Mirage.

The year was 1982, and though I had heard the mac before, I fell in love with the band after watching the Gypsy video. Simultaneously the Bella Donna videos were on air and me and all my friends (I was 16!) were in love with Stevie. Great those days. The 80s rocked!!!!!

My older brothers were constantly playing "Rumours" during the summer of 1977. I remember hanging out with my brother's band and singing (attempting, really- I was only eight at the time) the cascading harmony parts from "You Make Loving Fun". From that point on I was hooked!

When FM came to the Forum in LA in 1979 for the "Tusk" tour, my brothers went and took me along for the ride- very cool for a ten year old!!

I've been a devoted fan ever since....

Christmas night, 1976. My little sister gave me the White Album for Christmas. I must have played it 5 times through - front to back - the night I fell in love with Fleetwood Mac ....

Sometime in 1983 (I remember I was 12) when HBO was new and they were playing the Mirage concert video over and over I stumbled across it one dull Saturday afternoon. I remember first seeing Lindsey and wondering who this cool drink of water was. ;) After Sisters of the Moon I was riveted by Stevie's strength and passion. I watched the video everytime HBO played it after that and took Poloroids of the TV screen of my favorite moments so I could look at them anytime. I remember sitting in the dark by myself glued to the TV and my parents out at the kitchen table. I think they were concerned about me!

My first Fleetwood Mac experience, was seeing the video for Little Lies. Then a few days later, I saw Gypsy. Ever since then, I've been hooked!!!:)

A very strained relationship... Fleetwood Mac should be the soundtrack to each one of those...

When i was REALLY young, my granddad always had the greatest hits playing in the car so i listened to them quite passively as a young kid. then in 1994 i went to see Forrest Gump at the cinema and during the part when he's running (for no reason) GYOW came on, and i was just sat thinking, "OMG, where the hell do i know this song from!!" I figured out what it was then went home and dug out my mums greatest hits LP! which is when it all began...
GYOW was also on the soundtrack to Casino, have any other FM songs been used in films?

The person that got me into it was my friend Lindsey. I remember a few summers ago, i was at her house, she was practicing for dance crap, and she was like...omg...u ahve to listen to this!!! this is like so cool!! and blah blah blah..and at first i was like...what is wrong with her??? i remember cuz audra and i would talk on the phone aobut it and we were like..who are these people, and what is lindseys problem?? then after a while, i started listening more and more to it. Then after audra bought the dance and we listened to it non-stop at my house one night, i was like..ok, i have to get a cd from them or im gonna explode!! cause i loved rhiannon. I thought that it was like the prettiest song ever!! then they just kinda grew on me, and our whole group of friends now is like obssessed, well we still have to convince a few people, but i think for the most part, we got pretty far..lol

It was the radio for me...back in '97, when The Dance came out. I remember hearing Silver Springs, and thought it was a beautiful song. I also remember sitting through the video on tv, trying to catch Silver Springs on there. I was 13.

I kinda forgot about them, though. Then I got into The Corrs, and loved Dreams (their version). I remembered my brother had Rumours, and dug it out to find the original Dreams.

And that was it!

It was the DANCE 1997. I remember my mom telling me something about FM's BTM and the Dance, but I really wasn't paying any attention. But then one day I flipping channels and noticed Mick's big eyes and how he was always happy so I watched VH-1 for awhile. And of course Silver Springs was on and I was hooked from then on.

But I do remember hearing about the Mac when I was younger. I heard Don't Stop, GYOW, and Landslide before and I knew there were two couples that had broken up ( i watched one of those rock n roll specials). And I heard Hole's version of GDW but that was about it until The Dance! I don't know what I would do without the MAC! Probably buy a PC ( ha just kidding...!)

Just out of curiosity I was checking the oldest threads, and found this poll. It seems I didn't voted, that is pretty weird.

Anyway, though I had already heard Mac songs before, including YMLF, that my brother bought the 45 rpm record, it was the Gypsy video in 1982 what got me into the Mac.

Damn, tonight is the Ledge thread cemetary. :p

My older cousin moved in with us when I was 13, with her Rumours 8 track. Obsession didn't begin to describe what overtook my life.

An old thread, but worth reviving!

I think mine was seeing the video for Big Love on a Sturday morning children's TV show - I was captivated and had no idea how they did it.

Then I saw this wonderful commercial and thought 'I love all of those songs!!!':

Got the 'clear cassette' for Christmas '87 and that was that...

Pretty much the same. I’m the youngest of five and RUMOURS was on heavy rotation in my house when I was six and seven. I remember watching the Tusk video premier on Solid Gold (or something like SG) and thinking “THIS is the same band? Cool!”

But I wasn’t properly hooked until the Gypsy video and song—and then wow, I couldn’t get enough, bought MIRAGE, listened obsessively to RUMOURS and was on a heavy Stevie kick for about a year.

Then something happened.

The family stereo was on and a song from the radio grabbed me. It was “Say You Love Me.” I recognized Christine’s voice and the band backing her but in that moment I really HEARD her voice. The moment was intense and addictive. That low voice, that supremely catchy chorus, those block piano chords...the whole experience was transformative. I had to get my hands on everything Christine sang. It was 1983 and talk of her upcoming solo album had me anxiously awaiting its release.

I never stopped loving Stevie and Lindsey’s work. His solo albums were always interesting and her whole persona (until around 1985) was undeniably potent. But from that one night hearing “Say You Love Me” blasting out of the speakers I knew Christine was my hero.

Parents car... aged 13 in 1987.
They moved on from playing the Top Gun soundtrack non-stop wherever we went and progressed to playing Tango In The Night non-stop.
I do also love Top Gun.

I was 16 when the Dance came out and saw the Video of Silver Springs on a video countdown type show called the Chum FM top 30 where they counted down the top 30 Albums of the week and played a selection of videos throughout the broadcast. About 4 years later is when I really ramped up my fandom. Have been a big follower ever since.

My first boyfriend. I should have not listened to him and stayed more true to my real musical loves, Kate Bush, and the Cure and Clash and UB40 but i was a dumb teenager girly and wanted to have more in common with the dude.

In 1975 my school bus driver who was fairly young installed an 8-track in the bus. He played the white album a lot and I fell in love with it and Stevie's vocals. I asked for the record for Christmas and got it.
