Well I didn't realise that Stevie played Red Rocks TWICE on the RAL tour in '86...so was the Red Rocks video a combination of BOTH Shows??

If I recall correctly, the taping was only done on the second show, which is WHY she did the second show there. But you'll notice that there are some editing mistakes and such for reasons such as Stevie taping close ups AFTER the performance, etc. For example, Stevie's hair changes dramatically on Outside the Rain from what it looks like while she's singing the whole song, then it goes to that faded close up of her doing the "Love is a word..." line. There are some others that I can't remember right now. My memory's not what it used to be now that I have to take this xanax...which also explains why some of the things I say might not make too much sense syntax wise.

I read somewhere she stayed behind after the show to do the close-ups. She thanked Mick for stayign with her

I can't watch Red Rocks.

I can't watch her be all destroyed that way. Maybe its because I watched my parents take drugs and act weird and then one of them died of it.

Im glad Stevie is all better but if she wasn't, I wouldn't be a fan. Thank God she didn't pass away like so many did.

But that performance on that program is the worst and I don't even know if I can vote her in. I adore Stevie but NOT Red Rocks. I can't even watch it ever........

Am I alone in this? Doesn't anyone else flinch when they see it??

I look at it differently, I guess, watching Red Rocks on TV ONCE, I shouldn't even really be posting about this, but I guess, you are right, she was messed up, BUT, the performance WAS memorable and something that ALOT of fans associate with her, the Red Rocks performance/video. That's the way I look at it, so that's why I voted for it, not for the fact that it's the last time she was on coke, but for the sheer impact it had on her as an artist in people remembering her. That's my 2 cents. :)

Okay, I did my part.

I also agree with Christy... almost all of my friends who are fans of Stevie always associate her with that Red Rocks performance. Although it was not Stevie at her best.. it is still a very memorable performance.

Just voted...even though i have to agree this is not my fav performance of hers...i remember when i bought the tape and got home and watched it..it was such a dramatic difference from the person i was so intrigued by on The Dance...but as messed up as she was..you can tell she was putting on a great show...which i think is one of the keys to her integrity..alot of performers let the drugs take them over so much that they are horrible onstage and they don't even care about the fact that they need to put on a show...

BUT the way to treat this Red Rocks Hall Of Fame voting to get Stevie in is not so much based on Stevie's Red Rocks performance but her stature within in the music industry.........she is one of GREATEST ever....a real icon that deserves to be in the Red Rocks Hall Of Fame just like she is in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of fame.
Whilst none of us 'enjoy' seeing Stevie all messed up on the video...Stevie herself doesn't like this performance either yet it is inextricably linked with the collossal height of her success...and the lowest point in her personal life.......THIS IS PART OF THE HISTORY OF STEVIE NICKS......

The thing about Red Rocks is that Stevie DOESN'T seem too messed up to me, and maybe it's because I have seen worse, such as the US Festival 1983. She was smashed at this concert. Plus, I'm not too sensitive about things, especially drugs. I personally love Stevie getting into the music as much as she does on Red Rocks. The only part of Red Rocks I DON'T like is the Edge of 17 wail, which just sounds like she's going to goof into the microphone. I remember back when I really only knew The Dance, and then I'd watch Red Rocks, and I would hate the bouncy-energetic Stevie closeups, but then I got to like them. I CAN see how a personal affliction with drugs would sour this performance though, so yes, I understand Janet why you wouldn't like this performance. But, for me, it's up there in my favorites.

Stevie at her worst...Stevie at her best.

Time, drugs, and rock and roll had definitely taken its toll on the Bella Donna by then. Although she's still pretty(always will be) she lost her petiteness, svelteness, and witchywoman looks to a more ragged, rough, and strung out appearance. Her voice is for the most part average, but she still manages to pull out some good throaty Stevie vocals on songs like No Spoken Word, Stand Back, and Edge Of Seventeen(you know when she gets down and lets out that growl....love it). That's what I love about Stevie...the struggles in her life, the battles, the constant desire to survive. To me this concert is Stevie at one of the lowest points in her life, but still exposing her soul....getting out there and rocking. It's almost like you could see what was going on in her life by watching the concert.

Red Rocks is one excellent concert...if not for the music, then for the drama.

If I'm not mistaken I believe this video was nominated for a grammy for longform video.

Even though some parts do make me cringe (ah, yes, the Edge of Seventeen wail--as my friends so affectionately put it "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!!!!!! IS SHE POSSESSED BY GREMLINS!!???!!!!!"), Stevie definitely gets my vote!!!!! Even smacked out of her mind, she's the best!!!!!
