So there's a new book out about Stevie called Stevie Nicks in 50 Songs where they pick 50 songs and regurgitate/compile things she has said about each one in interviews over the years (how she wrote it, where she wrote it or who it's about or whatever). Seems more like they saw which songs she's talked about a lot and picked those to use the quotes they found.
Anyway one of the songs they picked was Angel, and several of the quotes about it are ones she made in the Tusk doc like the whole bit about how it started out silly but didn't end up silly at all it had an eeriness to it etc...
They then quote her also having said (not necessarily in the Tusk doc) that the song is about Mick and his dashing fashion sense and a watch fob he wore. Now, 24 karat she's always said was about him and his fashion sense and in particular his 24kt watch fob. So I think they f***ed that one up, but was curious if anyone had ever heard that Angel was 1) about Mick and 2) about his fashion and watch fob. :distress:

Just asked Google and yes, it says it is a tribute to drummer Mick Fleetwood and his unique style. Stevie Nicks wrote the track about how much she admired Mick Fleetwood's fashion sense and demeanor. She described herself as a simple California girl who was mesmerized by his fine clothes and pocket watch. Lines like "I still look up when you walk in the room… I try not to reach out" capture her literal awe when he entered a room.
The source is a RS article, but I can´t read it, it seems it´s available just for subscriptors.

In his book Mick mentioned Angel and Beautiful Child as "sublime new music" but didn´t say what Angel is about. He did write Oh Daddy was about him.

thanks for the link! Article is from last autumn. It quotes the liner notes of the 2015 Tusk reissue. Another one of the cash grabs I did not spend my money on. So it explains why in all the years since that song came out I'd never heard her say it was about him. Oy.

STEVIE NICKS PERFORMS FLEETWOOD MAC’S ‘ANGEL’ FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 1983
Following a fractured shoulder, the legend returned to the stage and unearthed a Tusk classic

There’s no better way to ring in October than a Stevie Nicks concert. After a fractured shoulder caused her to reschedule tour dates, the legend returned to the stage on Wednesday in Portland, Oregon — and unearthed a Fleetwood Mac deep cut.
Nicks performed “Angel,” from the 1979 Fleetwood Mac album Tusk, for the first time since 1983. Check it out below.
In the liner notes to the 2015 reissue of Tusk, Nicks said that “Angel” was about her bandmate Mick Fleetwood — “Not so much my love affair with him,” she said. “I was always taken with his style, and in those days he would walk in the room and I would just look up. ‘I still look up when you walk in the room… I try not to reach out.’ It’s all about him and his crazy fob watch and his really beautiful clothes. He’s a very stylish individual, and I was just this little California girl who’d never really known anybody like him.”
Nicks also performed her new song “The Lighthouse,” which she premiered on Saturday Night Live last year, in her first performance on the show in 40 years. “I used to have a dream that I would buy a lighthouse and it would have that twisty staircase that would go all the way up,” she told Rolling Stone last year. “I would have a little place at the bottom with a bed and a bathroom, and that would be my place when I wanted to go and record by myself, right on a cliff.”
Last month, Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham released the long-awaited reissue of Buckingham Nicks — the album they released as a duo in 1973 prior to joining Fleetwood Mac — which was out of print for decades. Hopefully, she throws some of those tracks, like the excellent “Crystal,” in set list rotation.
