Hello people... Hard to write because of this, but I'm truly sad about Rick Davies' passing at 81. As the founding member of Supertramp, maybe one of the most underrated rock bands ever, I think he deserves a little space to say goodbye.
He appeared in a band that marked my teenage days, and before Lindsey, he became my first musical mentor, my first musical master. I'm not a piano or keyboard player, but I always remember how amazed I was listening to his notes, and more if I watched him playing. He was incredible! And probably with Rick Wright, Richard Tandy (the three Ricks) and Tony Banks, he was one of the best piano and keyboard players in the history of rock and 20th Century's music.
Songs like Crime Of The Century, Asylum, Lover Boy, My Kind Of Lady and Bonnie were my favs, even when they were not the most commercial ones. But he put colour and tunes to my life, to my days, months and years, going home, walking down the street, just staying at home or going to sleep...It feels very empty when you lose your first musical icon!!
R.I.P Rick Davies. An Eternal Thank You!!
Thank you for everything, Rick Davies. Rest in peace!!
