So It is being reported that at the Pollstar Awards, Stevie just announced she is releasing a new album called The Ghost album. It was written while away due to the Palisades fires and the songs are about her memories of the men who have been in her life. 7 songs are written so far.

Her tour begins in august. So theoretically there would be time to complete the project. I'm not excited about it, but it's interesting to know that there is something coming.

She is going to have to write a whole load more than seven songs, about the men in her life…

But having said that I hope this happens , new music not about historic actions in the World, just plain old love songs…..nice.

It will come out after the Rhiannon ballet and film and soundtrack.

The premise of it sounds intriguing, but if the writing is in they style and caliber of stuff she's written in recent years....

A whole album of songs in the style of the Kennedy's/MLK song or even her abortion rights song (I can't even recall the titles off the top of my head any more since they came and went so fast....) then it will not burnish her songwriter reputation in the least. People will be buying it for the gossip aspect of it, which she is clearly teasing with her speech, hyping it up as some great revelation about her love life. Fair enough; maybe this is the best way for her to put out a "memoir" versus having the discipline to write a real book, or let someone else write one.

I wish her well, but....the ship carrying her musical talent sailed a long time ago.

ETA: Re-reading her comments about not pulling punches anymore...and it being about men in her life...makes me think there's gonna be a LOT of Lindsey in it..... I mean, even after firing him she couldn't go for a single interview without saying his name and talking about him, so.....

Stevie’s been saying since March 2020 that she’s been writing new songs (she said Harry Styles’ 2019 album inspired her to). It’s been 10 years since her last album. And she’s booked for another leg of her tour this year which I guess will grow in dates.
She also mentions Lindsey’s name multiple times during these shows. Yet she underscores that she’s the legendary icon and he’s not a legend like she is. He’s just a nobody.

I wonder what these pull no punches song lyrics will be like: “He said I had a big belly, but it was his wacky hair that needed the gelly” Maybe her next album will come in 10 more years.

Yep, the only thing that is solid about any of this is the touring, with the dates having already been announced and possibly some dates already on sale. Making an album is sooooo haaaaaaard compared to standing onstage and blathering. Most of which is unintelligible to the audience over the cranked up PA so..... her stories are hard to understand on the videos from the shows as well so

It's possible, I wouldn't be surprised. But I hope not.

Even though I enjoyed all that fantasy during The Dance, created by those looks in Silver Springs (something I always thought it was just that, a fantasy), I wouldn't want to hear all that again, this time about messages to Lindsey or about him in her songs. It would be nonsense, cause it's all over and done with, and I'm personally tired of it.

I'm curious about what you're referring to. I've never heard her say anything remotely close to "Lindsey is not an icon like me" at a show.

I believe they were referring to the Church of Stevie article from Rolling Stone:

"Is there any other development besides Lindsey’s heart attack?

I’m sure that if there was, I would know. There’s so much heart disease in his family that it’s really not a surprise. So, I wish him the best. I hope he lives a long life and continues to go into a studio and work with other people. He’s also an icon, and he can teach people. He’s not stopped in his tracks. He can still make music and have fun.

For what it’s worth, I think you’re a much larger icon in that regard.

Well, that was one of the problems, wasn’t it?"

I didn’t say she said it at a show. But you have heard her say Lindsey’s name a few times at a show - that’s a fact, right?

Nathan got it correct - The I Believe In The Church of Stevie article. She called Lindsey useless in a 2017 60 Minutes or Sunday Night interview. In 2008 she said Lindsey should “enjoy my (her) celebrity.”

She’s going to cook him in these new songs - if they ever get officially released.

Nothing but eye-rolling from me.

I'm glad the concert industry finally gave her a trophy for the never ending cash-grab tours that so many in the industry have benefited from.

I know she was using the term "meet me" loosely, but she hasn't met fans in years. She did a DVD signing for IYD 13 years ago. She has no interest in interacting with fans. I've met Lindsey 3 times.

The ultimate snub would be to not include a single song written about Lindsey. Not sure she has that kind of emotional intelligence at this point.

Her new thing of demanding a reaction from an audience is really annoying/trite. The gestures, the bowing..it's all very strange. It makes "the act" all the more obvious.

The only thing she knows how to cook is hamburger helper, it's definitely not songwriting these days.

When she gives these acceptance speeches, they’re very much in orange rally style: sloppy, not cohesive, and looking for reassurance from those gathered. It was uncomfortable to watch.

When she said “meet me”, I think she was talking to concert industry folks.

The bowing and the pausing for applause is WEIRD.

What was with that fake throat clear before she started speaking? And then, "So..." Does she think that's what it takes to be a schoolteacher?

The throat clearing comes across as a fake way of showing modesty, the same way she claims she doesn't know what to say, but clearly fills 5+ minutes with no problem. It also demands attention from the audience i.e. "excuse me, I'm trying to talk"

I also have no idea whats up with the lisp, I'm guessing she's had dental work of some kind that has caused it.

The exaggerated bowing that she does with a deep bend has driven me mad for years.
I don’t know or understand why she does it, often to a fellow performer..

And telling everyone her age, !!!.
So, you reached 77 (nearly)
And..

@76 this is her shtick. Stevie has done exactly what she wanted to do. She built a brand. Lindsey years prior Mac ,her Mac years…her solo endeavors, the drugs the comeback it’s all her journey. If she wants to put out another album (most likely her last) I think it’s a great thing for her legacy. I have been “with her” since the 70’s. I don’t always support all of her theatrics but……she is who she is…Rock on Gold Dust Woman.

After thinking about this, I'm not liking this...

For the last 5 or 6 years, all Stevie has done has name-dropped celebrities such as Prince, Tom Petty, Harry Styles to try and remain relevant. Now, she is going to make an album and a lot of the songs are going to be about these celebrities. That means to promote the album she is going to have to rehash the Prince, Tom Petty... stories to the press throughout the promotion of this album. We have heard these stories a hundred times. (It's funny how Stevie barely mentioned Prince when he was alive.) Also, she says she is writing songs about the great men in her life. Does that include Harry Styles? If she writes a song about him and puts it on her album, does she realize how desperate she looks. Her association with him was an embarrassment and reaked of desperation. Also, is her new best friend, Taylor Swift, going to be on this album. Betcha she is. She is going to try to steal Harry and Taylor's fan to get it heard.

Also, loved the production on the Lighthouse. The song was decent and step-up from her usual stuff but it took 2 years to make. These songs aren't going to be perfected lyrically and sonically anytime soon. Maybe she can get some help with the guys who helped her write the Lighthouse.

What happened to the Vampires Wife song and songs she wrote for Game of Thrones. She wrote those a long time ago. Is she scrapping all that Gothic stuff for a "name-drop album" just to get some promotion? Bah..... I think I know what we are going to get and I'm not really interested in Stevie's evolution to always remain relevant. It's too pathetic.

Hi Jondalar,

I agree! It is sad but, only, too true! It would be better for her to just focus on the music, like Lindsey does, and not focus on all of the drama.

Stevie, please keep all of that private! You only bring your audience down, instead of lifting them up!

You have so many amazing songs that we would love you to perform live, eg: Sleeping Angel, Blue Lamp, Straight Back, That's Alright, and Think About It to name just a few. We want to see you happy, not sad!:xoxo:

Try Channeling Kylie Minogue for your shows. She always lifts her audiences up with her positive energy!:]

She barely spoke of Prince when he was alive because she knew he would be the first person to say “Get your facts straight. We crossed paths and spent some time together 35 years ago and have not spoken since. Thats not my definition of friends”

She also can’t rely on the Lindsey schtick anymore, now that he’s the big bad wolf.

There’s a clip on YouTube of Prince’s recording engineer telling stories to some folks at Sunset Sound and she tells this cringey story about Stevie Nicks doing everything she can to get his attention backstage after one of his shows. Prince is basically avoiding her at all cost.

It’s crazy that this engineer spent time with Prince in the studio around the clock and she wasn’t even aware that he helped with stand back. That’s how minor the event must have been. Best friend my a$$.

I'm not really expecting this to be all that different from any other Stevie Nicks album. The bulk of her writing has always been about relationships. Yes, she does seem to enjoy name-dropping, but I think it's silly to think that we're able to determine from the outside whether her friendship with someone like Harry Styles is sincere or not. She's apparently been close with Vanessa Carlton for years, and it's not as if being associated with Vanessa Carlton is boosting anyone's career at this point...

It hurts my brain to listen to her rambling.

Here is how I picture the scenario of Stevie sitting in this hotel room for 92 days…. I imagine as the fires were threatening her home- she had Karen (and crew) pack the SUV with every journal- every tape- every page of her writing in case the house did burn and took all this stuff to her hotel. These boxes and trunks sat in this hotel suite and Stevie (at some point of staring at this stack) took the time to sit down and sift through them for the first time since Dave Stewart went through them to try to put together a new album. I am glad to hear she has a few songs to put on this new album. I am grateful for any new music she puts out; especially if it comes from her old journals. Anything circa 1980s - 90s would be great.

I think she is calling it a “Ghost” album because it is not contractual with the record label - it doesn’t really have any organization to it yet- tracks aren’t being recorded - it’s just an idea right now- and its just kinda floating out there- like a ghost.

At this point she's just looking at how far Taylor Swift (whom I like) has gotten making a career of writing about her relationships and fans pretty much knowing whom they're about. Taylor may in fact have been inspired as a baby writer by people like Stevie who wrote about their lives, but now it's come full circle... Stevie always talked about how her songs were coded, or that she would say her songs were about real events but she wrote about them in an indirect way and all that. Times have changed, and she has to have noticed how much success Taylor has had (and so far no ex boyfriend of Taylor's has sued her) and now Stevie has decided to really lean into it. In the past there were obvious songs about Lindsey on Rumours but as she moved into different relationships over the years she was more vague.

Here we go with Prince again. We know for a fact that Prince told his studio engineer to keep Stevie away from him. Later he does come into the studio per her request to finish Stand Back and leaves. She meets him again on the Wild Heart tour where she crashes on his kitchen floor and the next day he drives her to the airport. Stevie says he was not into her drugs. They meet again during the Purple Rain premier but he is annoyed at Stevie for leaving early. Stevie says in her 1994 LA radio interview that Prince refuses to talk to her but she does not know why.

Someone please tell us. How were they ever friends? Maybe they hung out without drama watching the Stand Back world premier on MTV at her house? He even declined her gift she wanted to give him during the Purple Rain party.
I dont get how she keeps saying they were friends. She is saying that When Doves Cry was inspired by Edge of 17? Was it not her that ripped him off and put doves crying at the end of Edge of 17 live in concert? When Doves cry is about Prince's relationship relating to his parents, no?

The bottom line is she’s not easy to work with and has never made friends with other musicians she can collaborate with. There’s a short list of folks who have been able to work with her on a limited basis. Even Dave Stewart wound up being a once and done. She’s 76, pretty much alone and has spent the better part of the last 15 years defining herself by her past. Her exaggerated stories about Prince is all she’s got at this point. She’s not making headlines with her recording output.

From Wikipedia:
"When Doves Cry" is a song by American musician Prince, and the lead single from his sixth studio album Purple Rain. According to the DVD commentary of the film Purple Rain (1984), Prince was asked by director Albert Magnoli to write a song to match the theme of a particular segment of the film that involved Prince's character The Kid's intermingled parental difficulties with his father Francis L. (Clarence Williams III) and mother (Olga Karlatos) and a love affair with Apollonia (Apollonia Kotero). The next morning, Prince had composed two songs, one of which was "When Doves Cry". According to Prince's biographer Per Nilsen, the song was inspired by his relationship with Vanity 6 member Susan Moonsie.

I think the Wikipedia page needs amended: "Song was inspired by and co-written by Stevie Nicks. After turning down Purple Rain because it was not good enough, Stevie gave Prince a rough draft of When Doves Cry. Prince played a track but it was Stevie's idea to remove the bass from the track. Stevie Nicks to this day reminds her audiences her contributions to the song during the end of Edge of 17 singing "I know what it sounds like when doves cry." It was the only lyric that Prince removed from the song which irked Stevie so she put it in her solo set. Prince offered royalties to Stevie for the song which she rejected and said "now we are even since you played on Stand Back."

Well, there’s Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Don Henley, Vanessa Carlton, Sheryl Crow, Kenny Loggins… and from all reports she got along just fine with Dave Stewart. So who didn’t she get along with? My point was, appearances and touring aside - she's worked with all of those people once or twice at the most.

Beyond Jimmy working on 2.5 albums between 80-85, she hasn't had a lasting working relationship with a single producer in the subsequent 35+ years working in the industry. People who genuinely enjoy collaborating do not have this track record.

And yes, I'm aware that Mike Campbell has given her and written many, many tracks over the years - I'm speaking to folks she's worked with on specific projects, in a large capacity.

You bring up a really good point that does not get mentioned much. Stevie does not get along with her early and primary producer Lindsey Buckingham. Her first solo producer walked away from her third solo album in the f**king middle of the project. She had bad blood with Rubert Hine after OSOTM. Stevie hated Glyn Johns and blamed him for the Street Angel fiasco. My hunch is that he questioned her work ethic.
Rebound to the Mac and we get the infamous "would you say that to Bob Dylan" quote during SYW and production process. She also was not comfortable working on Tango at Lindsey's house.

Ironically, Lindsey probably holds the record for being the producer thats worked with her the most.

Folks also forget that there was a good ten year period after TISL in which Sheryl Crow was hardly ever mentioned again. It wasn't until the Christine replacement fiasco in '09/'10 and the joint appearance on Oprah's final show week in 2011/12 where they seemed friendly again.

All of this is why I still take issue with the term "prolific" so often used to describe her in the press. She had 4 solo albums in the 80s, and 1 actual studio album in the 90s of new material. There are a lot of singer-songwriters that are truly prolific and their output is easily doubled compared to Stevie.

After TISL and Sheryl’s 2002 album C’mon C’mon, something was up with Stevie and Sheryl. I wondered if it was Stevie not liking Lance Armstrong.
Then after IYD, Stevie made Waddy a co-producer on 24 Karat Gold. I think Stevie was mad with Dave for writing about their sexual relationship in the 80s.
For her Covid releases, she used Greg Kurstin as a producer, and for The Lighthouse she had Dave Cobb and Sheryl Crow as producers. This after saying “I’ll never do an album without Dave Stewart.”

We know the reason Fleetwood Mac hasn’t released an album since 2003 is Stevie. And that includes the SYW lineup, the OWTS lineup, and the 2018-2019 lineup. She didn’t want to make an album with any FM lineup.

This is as good a place as any, to drop this tidbit.

So my friend in Nashville, Dennis, told me today that he used to work security in Chicago(where he's originally from), back in the early 80's. He was talking about really bad experiences.... he said he led Stevie to the stage, in the early 80's, and that she smelled absolutely disgusting. I said, "gassy?" He said, "no, complete body odor! It was awful!"

Maybe it was her stage clothes? Still....

yep... Sheryl went from being her bestest friend ever to falling off the planet....

I do recall that on Oprah (I'm sure people can find the clip somewhere) both Stevie and Sheryl were on and Sheryl said that when she (Sheryl) was talking about having kids (she adopted I think) and had her boys that Stevie had warned her that she would never get her career back if she left to have kids (or something very much along those lines that kids would crash her career) and Stevie FREAKED OUT in the moment and was like trying to cut her off "I did NOT!" "I didn't say that!!!" and if you watch it Sheryl kind of like smiles this sly smile and almost sort of laughs at Stevie's reaction. It was very curious... I mean I am totally NOT surprised at all that Stevie would not want that comment to come out and that she would lie about having said it because she's so super conscious of her image and wanting people to love her and all that and she clearly knows that would not be a well-received thing by the public.... And at the same time you know she really probably believes that (maybe it's her way of rationalizing not having kids herself over the years or whatever who knows) and I can TOTALLY see her doing her thing of being big mama who knows it all doling out advice to the younger crowd like she's Buddha or something and telling Sheryl that having kids will ruin her career....

Stevie still thinks it's the 70s when women DID have to choose between career and family. Now there's tons of women in music who have had kids and have stepped away from their careers for a time (and not even always because of kids, just because they needed a break) like Celine Dion, Adele, Sheryl, Mariah, actresses like Cameron Diaz who is slowly coming back, Jennifer Lawrence, etc etc. Plus Stevie likes to think that she knows everything that applies to everyone rather than realizing that just because HER life went a certain way and SHE made certain choices that doesn't necessarily mean anything about anyone else's life.

And oh btw, I would ask her if stepping away from a career or not touring for awhile or whatever to have kids is really any different or frankly if it's not better than losing your career for a number of years due to drug addiction and rehab....??

Well, there’s Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Don Henley, Vanessa Carlton, Sheryl Crow, Kenny Loggins… and from all reports she got along just fine with Dave Stewart. So who didn’t she get along with? Prince? I’m genuinely sincere when I ask who you’re referring to- I like gossip just as much as the next person!

and let's not forget she had a major falling out with Waddy at some point in all this (80s? 90s?) I forget, but he didn't tour with her or work with her for a number of years. Not sure if it was after she had an affair with him (during which I believe he was married, and I think to the same woman he's married to now...?). I’m somewhat chagrined that I remember this from the time, but Stevie said in an interview after TISL, “Sheryl, call me!” It did sound like they had parted ways and Stevie was on the outs. I totally understand what you wrote. She's so worried about record sales that it seems a fresh new album from her may never happen. She's been talking about making an album since the end of 2019.

And back to her lazy bums comment about Fleetwood Mac: in December 2019 -she made an Instagram post where she said she was more tired than she bad been after any other tour she had done. I'm not sure why. I saw that tour and her only "high energy" moment was her Gold Dust Woman pointing dance.

She said at this Pollstar Induction that she doesn't take vacation after Fleetwood Mac tours yet all she did after that 2019 tour was do 2 corporate shows with the casino setlist at the beginning of January 2020 and not record any new music.

And then, that they got her a TRAINER. How embarrassing.

And then, that they got her a TRAINER. How embarrassing.

•Both McVie and Fleetwood enlisted personal trainers to get them into shape. (Her flat is littered with dumbbells and a large blue exercise ball.) "The aim is to be fit enough to stand up for two and a half hours balancing on one foot, which is what I do," she says, playing an air keyboard to demonstrate her stage position. "I'm all occupied.”

•From Farias Fitness:
Fleetwood Mac
In 2013 I was introduced by some of my clients to Mick Fleetwood, the drummer from my lifelong favorite band, Fleetwood Mac. After a few meetings and particularly memorable paddleboard lesson, I sent Mick a coaching strategy outlining a plan for a 45-lb weight loss, reduced arthritis, and getting into “fighting shape” for an upcoming world tour. Not long after embarking on my “Eat Clean” lifestyle change, Mick was reaching his weight loss goals, feeling better than ever, performing with a new youthful vigor, and had talked Christine McVie out of retirement and into returning to the band. Christine had never worked with a trainer or nutritionist before but could not have been more motivated to get “stage ready”, knowing the endurance required for the upcoming 130 show world tour.
I trained both of them every day and cooked all their meals. The fitness and wellness transformations I achieved with them led to an invitation to cook for and train with them on the world tour. Quite simply, it was a once in a lifetime experience of luxurious travel with the most dedicated musicians, friends, and tour group imaginable.

•“Stevie told me I had to get in shape, because the road was grueling,” McVie told the New Yorker, “and I said, ‘Stevie, you must recall that I was in the band before you were. I know how hard the road is.’”
Ultimately, though, McVie did begin working with a trainer.

•Stevie Nicks has shared her own exercise routine
Nicks says that in order to keep in shape for tours, she spends time on the treadmill (Stand Back!) and Power Plate. This is a machine that sends up to 50 vibrations per second through a person’s body to activate muscles.

Nathan
04-27-2025, 12:24 PM
Nothing embarrassing about having a trainer or getting shape. I just thought it was cringe when they would tell this story on stage and SN would include that she also suggested Chris get a trainer. And Chris did...insert applause.

"The aim is to be fit enough to stand up for two and a half hours balancing on one foot, which is what I do"

^^ Neat approach!

It’s sad to know that after changing her lifestyle by working with a trainer and adopting a healthy diet, she would still become sick. Not saying those things stayed intact after touring, I have no idea. But to take that concentrated effort and then to still get ill is heartbreaking. I know that it happens and it’s mostly comes down to hereditary and genetics. But it’s just all very sad for someone that brought joy to so many people to have had to endure.

I have a faint suspicion that it will be a troubled project with a possible non-release.

The idea of a batch of songs about her exes is intriguing. But once again the fabled RHIANNON album withers on the Vine of Unmet Expectations and shrivels on the Bloom of Professional Duplicity, while the Weeds of Empty Promises threaten to overrun Stevie’s Garden of Unearthly Delights.

A potential update on the album, although I haven't seen any other publications report on this. Stevie's designer Margi Kent was interviewed about her attire and image and also briefly spoke about The Ghost Record. Here's the excerpt in question.

Kent has heard Nicks’ new album — due for release in 2026 — and reports it has the “energy of ‘Bella Donna,’ which is pretty amazing after all these years … it was a very emotional listening party.” Nicks wrote the album, which she calls “The Ghost Record,” while she spent three months in a hotel after fleeing the Los Angeles fires.

I think it's great this album is going to see the light of day. We were all skeptical. BUT--I have to say it, since it's her designer that's spilling the tea, shall we hope they are designing a new wardrobe for the tour for the new album? Or for the photo shoot for the album cover. so.....there was the Rhiannon project.....

there was a rumor at one point about a second vault album...

then it was going to be album of songs about exes.....

now she somehow wrote a whole album about/during the fires??

if it's a bunch of songs like the Kennedys and that Dave Grohl collaboration about heroin and even the lighthouse song all of which I found droning and tedious and uninspired....heaven help us.

you know, billy joel recently decided he was done writing songs because he'd pretty much said whatever he wanted to say and had the insight to realize he'd run out of new ideas...and was just repeating himself.... maybe someone else needs to realize she needs to stick with the golden oldies most of which are already beyond her abilities anymore.... she is NOT mick jagger who can still pull off most (not all) of the stones' hits and genuinely dance around a stage

her songs lately have just been her meandering thoughts in frankly rough draft form that she refuses to polish and refine because she thinks every brain fart is genius and refuses to consider otherwise. it's really getting rather sad.

I am not sure who changed so much, Stevie or me. I just seem to find myself drifting away from her music both old and new. Its a huge turn off to listen to her rambling on stage, in interviews etc.

i totally understand that she is an entertainer- it is a schtick- Stevie Nicks at home is not the Stevie Nicks we see. But when I watch the old interviews and shows where she is high as a kite, happy, funny, moved on stage like she was an ethereal being and magical all rolled into one bundle of beautiful cosmic energy I say to myself that is the Stevie I love.

That Stevie is gone and never coming back. Whoever is guiding her to do the crack dance and wear ramen noodle hair and ramble on stage like a three year old in need of attention is not doing her any favors.

I find myself finally letting go. After 50 years, I just can not watch this anymore…something has faded away.

It makes you appreciate “Dreams” and “Landslide” and “Leather and Lace” all the more. You realize just how good they are as songs. So long ago . . . ages and ages ago. Not many people become worse songwriters after fifty years in the industry, but she somehow managed it. You keep waiting for an excellent song from her again.

What was new and excellent in 2011? “For What It’s Worth,” “Moonlight,” “You May Be the One,” and “In Your Dreams.” I have, quite frankly, forgotten “Wide Sargasso Sea” and “Italian Summer.” They were overreaches. She wanted grand romantic landscapes, like “Sara,” but they were pissers. And “New Orleans” as a form of collective therapy for a damaged city is an embarrassment.

I would say that “In Your Dreams” is by far her best song since 2011. It would have been a great addition to Mirage or Tango. (It even has a great bridge.)

So It is being reported that at the Pollstar Awards, Stevie just announced she is releasing a new album called The Ghost album. It was written while away due to the Palisades fires and the songs are about her memories of the men who have been in her life. 7 songs are written so far.
This article from People says the album is coming out on her birthday, May 26, 2026. Not sure how accurate it is.

it makes me sad too. she really was trying to get herself together, she went to rehab at least twice and even if it didn't totally work, she definitely improved-- heard she and john were both trying to cut back after his cancer, she really wanted both of them to be healthier and certainly didn't want to be drinking a lot in front of him. also heard she was into the green shakes and alternative health things (sort of what jenn tini and her sister talk about on their insta...) and this may not have encouraged her to see "real doctors" as much as she should have.

her mother died quite young but her dad lived until about 90ish, so idk if genetics played a part but all those years of smoking prob didn't help anything. she'd been dealing with awful back pain for years and was getting treatment for that (and i think still had some issues w pain pills because of that pain) but she didn't know how bad things were until it was too late to do anything about it. I heard she (along w many of us) struggled with isolation and loneliness during covid, and then was sooo excited to be busy with the auction, she put a lot of time into that and was really looking forward to it. She was supposed to have gone to a 'before auction gathering' type thing that was scheduled for nov 30th (the day she died) but called julien a week before to say she couldn't make it.

part of me is glad it didn't drag on too long... but still sad that she was gone so quickly, and sad for the few people around her who loved her who must have felt so helpless while trying to just be there for her.

i'm in the 'no need for FM to do any reunion' camp... all this talk of how the other 4 'should reunite to honor chris' sort of annoys me. let it go. it's done now.

You know, I thought(in recent decades) that major artists were required to have complete physicals, before sponsors and promoters would lay many millions on the dotted line. Maybe they're not that thorough, after all?

I mean sh1t, if I could get a full body scan for free, I'd be doing it, especially after 60 or so. If I had 100 million, I'd do one every year, just to try and catch something before it catches me. The one thing in life you can never buy, is your health.

This article from People says the album is coming out on her birthday, May 26, 2026. Not sure how accurate it is.

https://people.com/where-are-fleetwood-mac-members-now-11941406#comments

Couldn't find any other recent article about it, apart from those issued last year, and this one from february, though it didn't mention a release date.

https://people.com/where-are-fleetwood-mac-members-now-11941406

It's interesting to know about their new material anyway, but as I already said in other threads, I'm not excited about any new album from Mac members. Of course, I wish them all the best.

Well, actually there is something I do like whenever the possibility of new albums from any of them arises. Activity picks up again here at The Ledge.

i don't think full body scans would be included in the physicals, though...? maybe bloodwork, a stress test and that sort of thing. i mean i assume john had a physical before their 2012 tour but still ended up going to the hospital in berlin and being diagnosed w colon cancer. MRI's aren't cheap-- i just had one last week and it was over $10,000. i prob have to pay over $800 for it but i was kind of relieved to be having one just for my peace of mind. i heard chris had x-rays for back pain but i assume no MRIs, which would have shown cancer. but yeah, she had the $ to do it if she wanted. i guess it's human nature to tend to NOT want to imagine anything is cancer. :(

In the UK we have a health service which is always moaned about but is free.
I had an MRI for my spine, which being a wuss, I couldn’t finish. ( I had claustrophobia)
So, a seated open one, was found, 50 miles away…I attended that and it was fine..
I have spinal stenosis which has been treated and I’m fine….for free.

I developed severe vertigo in 2018, and was actually having my legs go out from beneath me, after getting oxygen deprived while swimming, and did 2 MRIs, and don't remember them costing anything. I think insurance covered them completely. But after a couple months, "most" of my symptoms had disappeared, so then insurance refused to allow(pay for)any more. So they never did find out what
caused it.

But yeah, I think most people just want to assume there's nothing serious(especially cancer) going on.

that's true, i forgot about your country's lovely health care system. it's kind of a nightmare over here, esp now thanks to the orange idiot telling us the fed govt can't be responsible for paying for health care. people can lose their houses because they have to pay hospital bills. anyway.. i was on my stomach for my mri so i actually didn't feel too claustrophobic! wish chris had had one for her back...

The very last one I did, was in a brand new machine, and(I was on my back) had mirrors above your face, angled at 45 degrees. I was literally watching cars parking in the parking lot, during the entire procedure. It pretty much took all the claustrophobia away.

American hospitals price gouge its citizens… they care more about profit than care… $10,000 for an MRI is ridiculous. So many Americans do hospital tourism and travel to Thailand for any medical …one fly there, get an MRI at bumrungrad, stay at a nice hotel, all for less than you paid for your $800 deductible. bumrungrad international hospital is one of the top hospitals in the world (many of the doctors are trained in the US) They also give you test your results within 30 minutes… none of these stupid games that American hospitals play with waiting for results— they usually won’t give test results at the hospital — they tell Americans they can get their results at theirs doctor office in a few days (so your doctor can charge you for an office visit). bumrungrad has transparent pricing listed on their web site. No insurance approvals/denials. Just pay and go. They even list the prices online for heart surgery, hip replacement, cancer treatments everything. No waiting in an ER. Everything is fast, professional and easy. The hospital rooms and service is like a four star hotel. I can never understand why Americans put up with the BS of dealing with American hospitals which focus on the “business model” when they can just get on a plane and fly to Thailand. Most sick people already paying huge deductibles…for a $10,000 or $20,000 major surgery deductible you can get a lot more bang for your buck as a medical tourist.

Not only Thailand. Many peruvians who live in USA usually come to Peru for visiting relatives but also they take the opportunity but just for dental procedures, that are much cheaper than in the US. But about other type of medical care, private hospitals are very expensive if you have no private medical insurance, a 3-day hospital stay without surgery can cost US$4,000 (that's a lot for peruvians), with surgery it would be much more ($20k, $30k). Public hospitals are almost free but some are poorly maintained and all are overcrowded, specially the ERs. So definitely that's not an option for hospital tourism. But in dentistry, it is very common for foreigners to be treated.

Besides, if you go to a private hospital ER, and you have no insurance, they ask you for a $ deposit as a guarantee, otherwise they practically don't treat you. My friends in the USA tell me that private hospitals did they receive you in ER, they won't let you die. That's a difference with peruvian private hospitals. Of course, when you get the bill, you'll have preferred to die, or so I'm told. :)

Totally agree. Mexico is also great for teeth and eyes. My friend had a total knee replacement for $10,000 in Thailand that included 5 night stay in the hospital private room (US hospitals kicked you out after a night, two at the max) and 2 weeks in rehab with almost constant care. US does not provide rehab care for knees or hips but for surgery that does require rehab the staff only work with you once maybe twice a day and you lay around the rest of the time. It’s terrible.

To your point a private hospital (like Bumrungrad) and the charges are a king’s ransom to a Thai citizen but to an American its cheap. $70 for an MRI. $30 for an xray. Heart surgery $10,000. In the US a heart surgery is anywhere from $100,000 to $500,000…. Maybe even more nowadays. And they are still run like a business not a care center. Ridiculous.

Its even worse if your claim is denied. Devastating financially for many people.

I think socialized medicine like in the UK is wonderful….but that will never happen in the US. Way too much profit in sick people.

This puts me in a cranky mood. I was looking forward to seeing what Stevie has written about all her old loves from the perspective of age and maturity. Those relationships now lie in smouldering ruins. I wasn’t quite expecting the album to scale the heights of the Ibsen play as a family tragedy, but I thought it could be insightful and maybe even comical. (After all, who doesn’t look back on their old loves with a mix of sadness and humor?)

And regarding the oft-mentioned Rhiannon movie, I think that has never ceased to be just an idea (or an opium dream as we say here). However I learned there is a 2018 movie, "Every Day", where the main character is named Rhiannon, there you go!

Yes, it was going to include a dozen versions of the song. Stevie plonking on the piano, Stevie with the USC marching band, Stevie with Taylor Swift, Stevie with BTS, Stevie singing with just Mick on the drums for accompaniment, Stevie and Neil Finn, Stevie singing the song while rollerskating and drinking cranberry juice, Stevie and Waddy singing it, Stevie and Sheryl Crow, Stevie and Miley Cyrus, Stevie and Harry Styles, and finally a Christmas version with Stevie and Jason Kelce shaking jingle bells.

I don’t know for sure but my assumption is the magazine picked up a March 2025 statement that stevie made about the new album that she calls the Ghost Album (she started putting together while at the hotel during the fires) and they mistakenly thought it was a May 2026 release.

So yes, in Stevie’s mind there will be a new album.

That is not a fact. Stevie had a listening party this year of her new songs. She announced last year she had seven new songs recorded. She also confirmed in "The Church of Stevie" interview she was focused on releasing another album. She's just been touring every year, plus she hurt her shoulder, but she's had a lot of time off since her 2025 Tour.

Well according to Vanessa Carlton, the album IS coming out, and she's heard it: https://people.com/vanessa-carlton-advice-stevie-nicks-gave-her-exclusive-11955197

When asked if she had heard Nicks' first new album in 14 years that she's set to release, Carlton confirms she has.

"I cannot say a word more," she says. "The world should get ready. That's all I'll say. Stevie's coming. Let's put it that way."

Added Carlton: "It's Stevie, so it's glorious."

In April 2025, Nicks revealed that she was working on her 14th album, which she had referred to as "the ghost record," per fan-captured footage.

This was the "fan-captured footage" they referred to (her speech at the Pollstar Hall of Fame awards in 2025):

I see three possible things happening at the moment:

1. There's a completed album - but nobody will give her a deal/contract, because it's as cringy as "Show Them The Way" etc. etc.

2. Her PR team is trying to crank up the vibes/anticipation to create the biggest possible "splash" they can.

3. #1 is true and they are hyping it up (#2) to attract attention from record companies.

Also - do any of her gen z fans even know who Vanessa Carlton is?

I am so disappointed in these couple of shows she has done. Nothing is different. Same hair, clothes, ugly tennis shoes. Same band same backdrops. Same setlist. Same, Same, Same. So why even go on tour. Doesn't the band get bored? And it seems that people are coming to the shows. I just can't anymore. I hope there is a new album. She said at the end of her first concert that she was busier now than she was at the age of 32, which would have been Bella Donna era. I find that hard to believe. I guess the documentary and maybe a new album and also the Practical Magic 2 movie is coming out. Maybe there is a few Stevie songs. Her voice just isn't the same anymore though and I'm not sure how I feel about new things from her. I feel like it's time for the book she's been writing forever to finally come to be.

If they are well paid, that reduces or compensates for the boredom. And if people are coming to the shows, there is considerable money coming in. Or maybe they are like those long-running Broadway show actors who play the same role every night and enjoy it, who knows.

As I said in other thread, if they (any band member) release new material, good for them, but I no longer expect anything special. Sure I'll be curious to listen to it, but I'm sure I won't buy it.

THIS, 100%. Fourteen songs, two of which are covers, one from over thirty years ago and one from over SIXTY years ago. And the only songs that are remotely interesting to me, TWH and BD, are condensed into a lazy medley. I am so glad to be seeing Florence + The Machine tomorrow night in AC. Every song on her new album is amazing, and the tickets were only $59.00.

Her 14 song set has kept me away from seeing her live for a long, long time. In the past 10-15 years she's really found a way to do enough talking to stretch a 14 song set to almost a two hour show. In reality, she's been doing 75-80 minutes of music charging 200+ bucks for average, back of house lower level seats.

I love when artists tell about a song or any relevant episode. Donna Summer was very charismatic in that regard. Barry Manilow too. And they didn't take too long. But some artists didn't say a word during their shows and that's very cold.

But to spend so many minutes talking, no way! It feels like a rip-off, it would make me want to demand my money back, especially now that concerts are so expensive. I haven't been to one in years.

I feel like it's time for the book she's been writing forever to finally come to be.

That book falls into the category of the Rhiannon movie she's never going to make. She actually told an audience somewhere in the last ten years that she decided not to write that book after all.

Better that way.

I really enjoy reading autobios. Although I know they can have very biased arguments or errors because memory often fails, or even deliberate lies, they are very interesting (as long as they're not a collection of gossip). I've read Chaplin, Elton, Celia Cruz, former presidents, writers, and well, you know who. :)

But in Stevie's case, it would be a best seller, no doubt. But there are so many contradictions and controversies surrounding her arguments that they don't sound like accidental errors and have caused so much unease. So it's probably for the best that she decided not to write her memoirs.

at that rate it should just be more appropriately billed as "An Evening with Stevie Nicks: Stories and Songs" or something and not as a "concert" in the traditional sense.

If Stevie doesn't like that Lindsey edited out multiple verses of Sara and changing tenses to make her songs a more commercial product, she sure wouldn't like a editor taking out parts of her life that comes across as babbling to most people in a memoir. I would think that there would still be some interesting parts to make it worth reading though.

Well based on her RRHOF speech a while back - it sounds like she would claim in any book that she was the sole person behind the launch of her solo career and she orchestrated and built the entire thing herself.

The problem is...there is literally a list of people a mile long that were a big part of launching her solo career so any kind of revisionist claims she wants to make in a book will be quickly disproven across the entire music community.

She knows she has a good thing going with the existing amount of BS she chooses to shill, a book would open the door to make her look bad because she knows she can't do it in a balanced way.

It's funny - for decades she always spoke to there being too many people still alive that she didn't want to offend by writing a book. The truth is, theres too many people still alive to call her out on her BS. That's why she hasn't written it.

I would like to purchase you a drink, sir...

Yeah, she's nuttier than a fruitcake. And I truly believe, that she believes her own lies.

🤮🤮🤮 What a pathetic display of ass kissing.

Nicely summarizes Stevie’s vast network of friends!

Good news about the album — it’s a go. I’m in kind of a weird position for myself after fifty years: I’m more interested in it lyrically than musically. I want to see which former flames get the dirt dished on ’em.

Look for some kind of contribution from Lindsey, too, like a guitar part or a backup vocal.

I am so disappointed in these couple of shows she has done. Nothing is different. Same hair, clothes, ugly tennis shoes. Same band same backdrops. Same setlist. Same, Same, Same. So why even go on tour. ……….

Her voice just isn't the same anymore though and I'm not sure how I feel about new things from her. I feel like it's time for the book she's been writing forever to finally come to be.

I agree 100%. I have been saying all this for a while. It’s so hard to watch her go down this road. I blame the people around her for not having the courage to tell her to her face. I wonder if it is because maybe she holds a grudge and they are too scared of how mean and vindictive she can be? LB was the only one who would call her on her s**t. And now…. It just doesn’t matter. She is so far away from who she used to be—there is no coming back from whatever “reality” she has created in her head.

It’s interesting … these conspiracy theorists talk about celebrities being cloned and how the clones are “not quite the same” as the original person…..

Sometimes I wonder…..

Hey Homer- I would love to hear your two cents on the clone theory… without using the word bats**t my dear….

would a new album really be her 14th???? I'm too lazy to count them all out.

it is most certainly not her 14th album of all new material.

does she even have 14 albums solo (including compilations????)

or are they counting her FM albums too.....

Or maybe, maybe, Stevie was kidnapped years ago, and the one we see on the shows is... is... Medusa Nicks, Stevie's evil twin sister!

There are “rumours” circulating online that Beyoncé is about to drop a rock album that will have a collaboration with Stevie. Speculation started after Beyoncé posted a clip of Stevie discussing her participation in the Bootylicious video. Maybe Stevie’s waiting for this kind of publicity push before dropping her new album. If so, this would be the best marketing stunt that her team’s ever done. They’ve dropped the ball on so many missed opportunities in the past, could this be true??? Probably not…but we shall soon see.
