Very nice place. It was weird, trying to picture Christine moving about through there. It still seems like a bad dream that she's gone.

Wow, what a cool place. I like the view from the top and the privacy. And neat architectural touches like those beams on the top floors. Very nice and tasteful. Cool location, too. I wonder how much time CM spent here in her last years? And, what shops and coffee spots she enjoyed frequenting that are nearby? Very cool.

She prob spent a lot of time there... i think she bought it in 2015? and as far as i know that's the only property she owned at that point. so when they weren't touring or she wasn't traveling, that was home. it's gorgeous. love that rooftop patio, and the natural light is beautiful. i heard she didn't drive at all in later years and used her car service to get her places, and in that area i bet everything is pricey and top of the line.

looks like it's been totally staged though, i guess all her stuff is gone by now.

I went to the auction of her things, a few blocks from my condo. Once a soapdish went for $900, I knew I was out of my league.

Quite lovely.

The article says this is Eaton Place, which is across the street from Eaton Square. These units in Belgravia are ultra-high-grade residences. Historically, some really important people have lived in Eaton Place and Eaton Square: two prime ministers, Neville Chamberlain and Stanley Baldwin, Vivien Leigh (who died there), Sean Connery, Rex Harrison, Roger Moore, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and even Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands. This is the London Bel Air. When Christine was in the mood for swank, she was certainly in the mood.

Do you think all those candles on the table are staged?

“She liked Belgravia, because she could walk to Harvey Nicholas and Harrods around the corner, and that’s what she used to always do when she came up to London,” he [Wyatt] recalls.

i would say probably? they do add color and make for an interesting photo. i really think all her stuff is removed by now... and even when she lived there i doubt she kept 100 candles on her dining room table lol. too much dusting for the poor housekeeper.

yeah totally not her stuff. that large living room was in the photos of her stuff for the last auction. that's where a ton of the tchotchkes for sale were. That kitchen is suuuuper tiny and not nearly as fancy as a similar sort of place in NYC would be. Perhaps the assumption is if you are that wealthy you are not cooking or eating in your home as much....?

Speaking of her auctions, I bought one of her road wardrobe cases in the first auction, and it was *very* fragrant with her perfume when it arrived. I assumed this was since it had been closed up for a while and that it would dissipate over time. It has not; in fact in recent weeks it has suddenly become almost overpoweringly strong out of the blue.

yes the kitchen is fairly small for a flat of that price, but i hear everything across the pond tends to just be a bit smaller ;)...i'm sure she could still do some cooking when the mood struck. she prob wasn't cooking for 20 people in that stage of her life.

that's so cool that the scent of her is getting stronger! i think expensive perfume/cologne lasts a while...

Yeah, I wish I knew what it was. The second auction, that had all her things from her home, had quite a lot of perfume bottles and I tried to see the labels on them so I could maybe check them out in a department store and see which one smelled the most like the wardrobe. I was able to make out the names of maybe a half dozen, but at the perfume counter at Nordstrom none of them really seemed to be the same one.

Just curious, do you have the wardrobe case displayed in your living room, or what?

I suppose when I still had my big house, that I'd have put it in the corner of my music room or something. Do you have your things in it, or is it just empty? Sorry, just curious...

You gotta hand it to Chris, John, and Lindsey. They went very long periods of time where they were not touring or releasing material and still managed to be smart with their money, living very lucratively for their entire lives.

Thats true. Chris and LB must have made good $$ in royalties though, the checks were probablyfairly constant. I guess John only got those from the chain? But he has always been super frugal. I'd never worry about him and money.

I believe they got royalties just from being ON the recording, too. And I'd assume John and Mick still got paid for being Seedy Management, at least up until they fired Mick.

I did have it in my house, in the family room where I had my piano and an original Wild Heart promotional poster that I forgot about and found 40 years later clearing out my parents' house. It has some dings around the edges but it framed up really nicely. Currently we are doing some renovations so Christine (as we call it) is in the garage until the work is done.

When opened it has one side with a clothes bar for hanging stuff and other side has a series of drawers with labels on them like "makeup" "jewelry" "shoes" "underwear" etc... I had thought I'd put her in a guest room and have it opened up so guests could hang a couple things in it while staying, but I could never bring myself to just clean it out and sanitize it. There are little bits of things like sequins that fell off stage clothes, an old hotel room key, the tag out of something made of cashmere, etc that I thought I would clear out and make it more utilitarian to justify the cost. But I've so far never been able to remove those traces. So I've kind of come to realize that it's actually more of an artifact to just display more than "use", like a piece of history, or a piece of art that you just enjoy for what it is

SOMEWHERE I have a response from Bob Welch, saved to a computer, explaining royalties and how they work. Mechanical royalties, etc. I still can't say that I understood it all, but he wrote a rather lengthy response to me.

it's prob way more complicated than i imagine. i'm sure bob knew the details!! but i think the seedy management thing was defunct by like 1980, wasn't it? so that didn't last too long lol

Wow, so cool. Nice idea to have it in a guest room, but I agree, I'd want to keep those things in tact.

It makes me sad that it's in the garage. I'd love to smell her perfume in it. ❤️

Nah, it's actually a really nice garage (no cars go in it so far). It was one of the things we did a big reno on last year to make it more of a workshop/hobby space. Right now the whole space (it's a two-car garage) is filled with her perfume. I think maybe because our weather has been warming up. It also has a dehumidifier where it is just because it was still rainy season, and some padding around it. (All better than how it would be stored in a warehouse with band equipment).
