LA Fires

Both Stevie and Lindsey live right in the midst of the area consumed by fire. Stevie's big house in the hills of Santa Monica next to Pacific Palisades, her "rock and roll apartment" right on the PCH and Lindsey is up in the hills in Brentwood also in the thick of things. Both areas were given evacuation notices as of last night; Pacific Palisades and the stretch of Pacific Coast Highway thru Malibu and down thru Santa Monica is just devastated.

Hoping not only that they and their families and teams are safe but that they didn't lose homes and belongings in the process.

Is Stevie still out on the road?? On a slightly cynical note, I'll be awaiting in the future her new song about the fires.....:sorry:

Last I heard (which has been many years now) John was in Woodland Hills, and that also in the danger zone.

A friend of mine lives just posted she is ok, she is closer to downtown LA than to the hills or parks affected by the fires. How terrible, fires in California while freezing weather hits central states, east coast, and parts of Europe.

Doesn't mean their properties can't burn down though, sadly....:( I'm sure their houses are filled with expensive items (yes, all of which can be replaced like recording equipment etc...) but also memorabilia etc.

And as I said, hopefully their teams are all ok too....they have people who work for them who also live all over the LA area (not everyone is rich and famous).

Oh, they will definitely be safe. If they suffer losses, it should only be material and only those things of sentimental value will affect them the most. It is not the case of families who will lose everything and suffer the most, regardless of whether their houses are insured or not.

One still wishes that everyone is safe, whether they are ordinary people, celebrities, royalty, etc.

Actually, the fires are *quite* close to that house.

I won't post where Stevie's actual house is, but if you look at a map of the area between Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades, there's an area where the streets fan out in a sort of circular pattern.....luckily it seems her actual house has so far been spared but when a fire is within a couple of streets I'd say that's being at risk. :shrug:

I don't know why some on here insist on making this political; OF COURSE it is horrific if ANYONE loses their house and everything they own. And sure, rich people can afford to rebuild and re-buy everything whereas middle class or working people may not. However, I will point out that this is a FLEETWOOD MAC FORUM and thus the focus here is on how things relate to the members of the band.:shrug: Just because people are on here talking about possible impacts to Stevie and/or Lindsey doesn't mean that outside of this forum they aren't aware/sensitive/compassionate/or donating to organizations or others who help those who are not rich. Needless to say, sleep has not been a thing for the past 36 hours.

Lindsey, Mick ande Stevie (or their assistants) are active on social media, they have not posted anything about it.

When I read the first news about these fires I thought they would be like those that happened before. I have a friend in San Bernardino whose house almost burned down several years ago. I mean I always read about fires not so close to Hollywood, Sunset Blvd, etc. Now I see these fires are very very close to city areas. and seem to be much larger than those from the past. So sad.

Sad and outrageous that there are fake pictures in social media too. I saw one of the Hollywood sign burning. That was fake, at least until this morning. There are homes not far from there so they shouldn't lie nor joke like that.

Funny they talk about her saving "her" house....but east side of Chautauqua is where her boss's house is... not sure I can imagine Karen owning a home there, so wonder if she lives in the big house (Stevie's niece was for a long time... i think even Karen must have a limit to her patience...it's like live-in nannies who feel like they never get time off because the kids are always running in wanting something lol. sometimes you need to exit the premises and be unavailable for a little while.

Yes, I recall an interview a print journalist did with Stevie a few years back (before COVID at least) and it was done at her apartment overhanging the PCH. Stevie showed the interviewer her fridge which had packages of prepared food that she was getting from a meal prep/delivery service (she might have been getting in shape for tour or something; I remember she joked about the little packages of carrots stacking up in the fridge). And then the interviewer left, it was evening, and it seemed very much like Stevie is there by herself at that point. But Stevie herself has described that apartment as like one giant kind of rounded room. So...maybe Karen tucks her in at night and goes home til morning..... I kinda hope so.:eek:

I presented a list of the things those people did. Some got married; some had kids; some did both...... These are facts, not my recommendations. I personally don't have kids, and am well aware one does not need children to have an adult life. Not everything is personal, and facts are facts, whether some people like them or not. Stevie's long-term commitment has always been to her career over everything else. This is the choice she has made. She is allowed to make whatever choice she wants. Each choice has its own consequences. She's the one who told Sheryl Crow that if she (Sheryl) had children, she would lose her career (Sheryl said this on Oprah with Stevie sitting beside her, who freaked out and tried to deny she said it). Sheryl had two kids and as far as I can tell isn't in the poorhouse. Chrissy Hynde also had children and kept her career. But, and it's a big "but"....you have to WANT it to make it work. Stevie never really wanted that.

In the fifty two years I’ve lived in Los Angeles, I’ve never seen anything like the Eaton and Palisades fires. My heart goes out to all who’ve been affected by these tragedies. That said, we must all embrace the spirit of togetherness, compassion, and the resolve to rebuild.
