Just an interesting piece of knowledge…and fun.
And I’m not wishing to start any Political chitchat at all.
And if this piece is not allowed…that’s fine
But
In the UK November 5th is celebrated every year….
(Just coincidence it’s your Election)
As Bonfire night….
….Remember, Remember the 5th of November
….Gunpowder , treason And plot.
It celebrates the conspiracy to blow up the Houses of Parliament.
On the 5th,1605…Guy Fawkes and his co conspirators attempt was foiled…

But in the Uk we still celebrate with Fireworks and Bonfires…
Now mainly organised displays but when I was growing up…..in your back garden..
Such fun, with Bonfire Toffee, spuds cooked in the ashes and Parkin…
Sparklers, Roman candles, Catherine wheels and jump in Jacks
as many fireworks as your pocket money could buy…as I say now big organised events.

Just a thought as the USA goes to the polls..

Interesting. I didn't know about that celebration. Actually I learned about it thru The Crown Gunpowder episode (S5.E8) and made me read a bit more about it.

Interesting. I didn't know about that celebration. Actually I learned about it thru The Crown Gunpowder episode (S5.E8) and made me read a bit more about it.

It was a plot by Catholics to get rid of the King…James, who was a devout Protestant, and Catholics at that time were persecuted..

Today it’s really good fun and most towns and villages have Bonfires and Firework displays
