View Full Version : New Cd?
I hope Stevie releases a new cd and doesn’t just rely on these one offs. She has the money and at the end of the day the mp3 versions won’t be a part of her legacy. Release a new disc like every other artist does.

She could learn from the Fleetwood Mac releases. She started with a reissue but gave up. She could also do LIVE anthology albums of her tours. I for one would love a Best of Enchanted tour. Rhino would do it.

I think she's too embarrassed that a new album only sells 20k copies.
She's a numbers gal, living in a singles world.

Has anybody noticed that it's been over 10 years since her latest album 24 Karat Gold Songs From The Vault?
Could The Lighthouse be the lead single off a new album?

Nope. (My bet).
I just don't think she has the attention span / stamina/ whatever for the weeks and months it takes for a whole album.:sorry:

Interesting. The new music video has a million views but the song has not charted on Billboard Hot 100. We'll see if her Saturday Night Live performance gets it on that chart.
This is the longest wait in between Stevie albums...if another one comes.

I was one of the million views. Like I'm sure most everyone else, I was excited to see Stevie had a new single and with fingers crossed hoped finally, FINALLY the possibility of a solid song for my ears. This is the song that will show Stevie's still got ink in the inkwell to write a classic. Speaking for myself, I was again disappointed. It's not a bad song, it's just meh. In all honesty, I lost interest less than halfway through the song and have no desire to ever hear it again. Again, not because it's a bad song, it's just so forgettable.
Watching her on SNL did nothing to change my opinion, in fact it made it worse. While inspiring to see her at her age still going strong, the shouting of songs instead of singing (my opinion) is just cringe at this point, and I frankly don't want to remember one of my all-time favorite artist this way.
At this point, if she were to put out another album I would be hesitant to make the purchase, and I hope she doesn't. Her best course of action at this point is to solidify her legacy by focusing her energies on finishing up the remastering and creating expanded reissues of the rest of her albums, notably Rock A Little and TOSOTM. At the most, put out a 24 Karat Gold II album, but instead of redoing the songs remaster the actual demos. Some of those demos have great vocals from a voice at its pinnacle. It would be an absolute crime to those songs to replace them with a shot voice...no disrespect intended.

I was one of the million views too. I watch lot of new songs at YT. But I don't often buy new music in digital format or CD anymore (in fact I don't own a CD player anymore). I have to be a big fan to buy new material. Obviously my latest purchases were Fleetwood Mac.
And I suspect a lot of people do the same, so views aren't necessarily a good indicator.

Vinyl is running circles around CDs and digital these days. Everytime I go to the record store customers have a handful of vinyl. The industry is doing a great job on the packings and manufacturing, but vinyl is terribly expensive. I'm just glad the industry is still doing well. Entertainment will always be a priority for people, which explains the ridiculous price on concert tickets.
I’m old school for sure. I still have some vinyl which I play occasionally. I do have my music on electronic devices. However, I love my cd library. It’s like a book shelf of books. For me it’s thousands of cds. I have at least 7 cd players in my home.

Same. I want to OWN a physical copy. AND, something that I can play in my car. Vinyl's a pain in the ass.
I listened to her new song once, and that was enough. It's sad that some people(entertainers) don't realize when it's time to retire.

I rarely buy any new music these days. Maybe a couple CDs a year?
Know what really grinds my gears? REMAKES. Half of the sh1t(movies and music) they put out now are remakes of classics. There's no ARTISTRY in that.

I think that a reprint of Rock a Little would do well in the current market. High 80’s sound is IN again. The production of that Album is not all that different from a lot of music now. There is enough B side and outtakes of that album to make a three disc set along with some live stuff culled from RedRocks. They might even be able to dig up a soundboard or two of her duets with Tom Petty from that era. Insider live. Etc. oh. And maybe even Her performance with Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. Or the with Heart!? Sure the drugs were heavy but there are some diamonds in all that.
A OSITM might also have some good gems.

What makes a Rock a Little reissue interesting is more of what didn't make the album than the original. She wrote and recorded so many songs during that era and to have them cleaned up a remastered would make an interesting listen into that somewhat chaotic era. Certainly we've heard most of them and they've made other recordings like Running Through the Garden (Why she didn't include this, remains a mystery), You Like Me (a great Little Rock song she gave away) and the early takes of Greta or what became Whole Lotta Trouble. I'm sure there's lots that never leaked either. With OSOTM though, the best songs did make the record and others were understandably left off so not much of interest there, although it contains the gems Rooms on Fire and Ooh My Love, it gets dragged down by some lazy vocals and bad covers.

Yeah, there's a possibility you are correct and I am just overexcited. It's also possible SLN1 could have seen the 2020 clip they are showing online that has been tricking people(including myself) into thinking this is the new interview. It's also strange the Lighthouse is being released in November. Don't they realize most people would have downloaded it by now from somewhere else? It should have been available the second it was released to radio.

This makes me think of when Stevie was releasing all her older albums. Seems like we always got something leaked in advance — either some not-yet-mastered tracks or even a track list. But with 24 Karat and now this (?), nothing is leaking at all. They’re running a much tighter ship over there at Nicks Land.
My only prediction for a new album is that it will contain a number of songs either written by many of her pop star friends OR will feature them on duets or backup vocals. It’s all about star power. I can picture a new album only if Lana del Rey, Sheryl Crow, Harry Styles, Bette Midler, Elton John, Michael Grimm, Billy Joel, Vanessa Carlton, Haim, Dolly Parton, the Gorillaz, etc., were on it. (It might even contain a collaboration with Lindsey, which would explain the recent buzz.) I think the collected star power is what would convince Stevie to do a new album. Dolly Parton’s rock album and Elton John’s lockdown album may have been influential.

don't feel too tricked, though, because one of the still photos they are putting out definitely DOES look recent. In the old interview/photos from that interview Stevie is wearing a mask and has her long straight hair, the interviewer is in a flouncy white top with a chartreuse and pink robe/cape thing. (click to 3rd pic in the series on the Instagram link below)(they also link to the video of that 2020 interview)
In the first pic Stevie has her current corkscrew hair and the interviewer is in a totally different outfit, black with a print design. https://www.instagram.com/fleetwoodmacnews/p/DBUg21pT_Ap/?img_index=1

the thing is, when you see her without makeup, or, without stage makeup, she is unbelievably gorgeous for her age, or any age.
Someone had a link in another thread to a photo of her, Lindsey, and Christine taken at their band's private dinner in LA back when Chris was coming back, and Stevie looks STUNNING with little to no makeup.
There were a few pics of her during her mom's final days, with her and her brother and maybe it was Vanessa Carlton who took it, anyway Stevie again had no make up, and I swear I thought it was her from 1979.
Even that photo of her after SNL looked more natural with her bangs swept off her forehead (hard to tell if she was still wearing stage makeup as she had a mask on)
The heavy eye makeup AGES her. Especially the harsh black. For a while whoever did her makeup used a dark but softer brown and it was far, far kinder to her.
She's also hit the limit on filler... she needs to proceed with caution going forward. The larger mouth is a by-product of too much filler and/or pulling of the face skin that stretches the mouth. Again, she shouldn't consider that she's competing with Taylor Swift or Beyonce or whomever who is decades younger than her. She's the legend, and she's earned the right not to distort her face into a caricature of her former self.

I think she's making a mistake by trying to look younger than she is, it produces the exact opposite effect. I hope she doesn't end up doing what Meg Ryan did to her face.

In the new RS interview, Stevie says she didn’t make The Lighthouse to be a hit single. I guess that was her spirit behind Show Them The Way as well. Both of her 2020s releases didn’t have commercial success but for millions of YouTube music video views.
