She is a bit of a copycat here, but I do love that witchy picture of her and her dog.

I don’t read it as an indirect endorsement of The Vice President at all. Taylor Swift said she’s voting for Harris and Walz and signed it Childless Cat Lady.
Stevie said research the candidates and signed her post as the name you titled the thread by.
Stevie (and Taylor but she voiced her endorsement) just amplifying an unintelligent comment a senator made on “Fox News Channel”.

It is very clear who Stevie is endorsing here. if nothing else, the orange guy's stance of women's reproductive heath would be something she would not support.

Liz and Dick Cheney would disagree that her post was a clear endorsement of The Vice President. Taylor said Kamala Harris. Stevie didn't say The Vice President's name. Stevie's thinking business.

who brought up Liz and Dick? btw, they both made it clear (straight out of Liz's mouth) that they are both voting for Harris. Save your arguments that they are voting for her but not "endorsing" her as they have different political philosophies. In a presidential election, your vote IS your endorsement.
Back to Stevie, the fact that she mocks the republican (Vance) accusation of dems all being single cat ladies by calling herself a single dog lady, is very clear. She won't tell her fans how to vote, which is wise, but she is clearly signaling her personal preference.
Hope you vote, whoever it's for!

Stevie had no issue speaking about Trump’s COVID mishandling in 2020, but now in 2024 she’s not saying anything about Trump now that she has concert tickets to sell.
She’s telling people who’ve voted in elections since they were 18 to vote when she only casted her first vote five years ago.
I’ve never given birth but I have a cat. I wouldn’t call myself childless. I’m a mom.

I find it hilarious that this idiot, that only cast her first vote five years ago, is telling people how to vote. And more so, that she's afraid of harming her ticket sales, when she's knocking on death's door. Google says she's worth 120M.
What cha worried about, Stevie? A few empty seats? Stand for something, other than popularity...
She's a numbers gal...

To be fair though she endorsed Clinton in 2016. Its ok.
I think she did fine. This board would have lit up like a Christmas tree if Stevie wrote some long lecture about politics.
I called it an indirect endorsement because she does not even mention Harris's name. But it was an endorsement. If you are going to venture into politics. No harm no fowl. Stevie has just over 400k twitter followers. Taylor Swift has almost 100 million.
On another note, the right freaking out over Taylor Swift is insane. Henry Wrinkler had the best response to Jeanne Piro on Fox when she accused Swift of using her influence to persuade people to vote a certain way. His response was "is that not what you do?" We have first amendment rights to express who we want to vote for. Mehgan Kelly went over the deep end. I used to have a little respect for her because I thought she was treated a bit unfairly by NBC. But now she is just as full of conspiracies as Roseanne. She was dropping F-bombs and was spitting angry because Taylor Swift endorsed Harris. I see no one on the left complaining or caring that Kid Rock or Hulk Hogan endorsed Trump. People have lost their minds. Kelly was accusing Taylor Swift of forcing children to get transgender operations.
Be careful everyone because clearly there is something in the water to make people this insane.

Don’t worry about ticket sales Stevie. Whatever the audiences, you can always just tell people you had the biggest crowds ever seen at a concert. Bigger than Woodstock. Biggest ever seen anywhere in the world. People will be sick of attending such busy concerts.

Sometimes I think it's my disappointment and anger at Stevie that makes me dislike and criticize everything she does these days, but everything she says and does always seems so disingenuous and opportunistic. At least her biting off of TS would seem less desperate if she ACTUALLY endorsed instead of this duplicitous half-assed pandering. Yuck.

She's such an opportunist. She is trying to remain relevant to this generation through Taylor Swift. She is in her 70s for God's sake. It's embarrassing. I can't stand her.

Rockers have been political since Flower Power. To me, endorsing a candidate is just waxing political — it’s no big deal. Some greats benefit by being political — Laura Nyro, Neil Young, Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Rage Against the Machine, the Clash, Midnight Oil, and so on. Political concerns were part of their entire makeup as artists.
It’s only a little odd with Stevie because she was a self-described non-voter most of her life. But even that’s not a big deal for her to publicize that she now recommends voting (as long as she isn’t saying one thing in public and doing something else in private).
If Lindsey endorsed a candidate, we wouldn’t think anything of it. It’s expected from him. He even played a Democratic fundraiser a few years ago.

I do get your point but I think it’s working ……I will say the young-ins all love her.

I don’t care if an artist declares those kinds of opinions or which political leader he/she supports, as long as it doesn't go overboard and influence their presentations (or support a proven criminal, of course).
For example, I saw Roger Waters The Dark Side of the Moon Live tour in 2007. I think it was the best concert I have ever seen (yes, I admit that even though I’m a Fleetwood Mac Fan). So I was very excited when he came back in 2018, but days before I read he was mentioning something against some leader of the country where he was singing, for being accused of some crime, corruption, etc. That usually generated applause from half the audience, and boo from the other half
Fortunately he didn't do that in Lima, he just shared his opinion "Stop corruption!" without mentioning anyone, which I thought was very appropriate. The entire audience applauded him.
But a large part of thne show he projected the image of a famous leader, who was ruling at the time. No matter who he was, or whether I agreed with it or not, it seemed exaggerated to me and I felt saturated at the end with so much political messages, most of them based on memes and caricatures of this person. I was looking to appreciate the artist's music, not attend a political meeting, and for a large part of the concert I felt like I was at one. That's the reason the 2007 concert was far better than the 2018 show.
