Though I liked some songs, I'm not a big fan of FM members solo albums, except for Out of the Craddle. But it's sad to read that article anyway, which describes how Stevie so damaged his career. I wonder how it would have been like if she had gotten sober earlier. Maybe she wouldn't have collaborated so much with Fleetwood Mac anyway, but the little she would have contributed would have been much better songs.
Thanks to include that 1983 poll, too. I loved that year for many reasons, one of them the great music we got.

RAL is majorly liked on this board or at least it used to be. I actually think this review was kind to her because the album is incohesive and shrill. I dont like how Rolling Stone always made fun of her lyrics. But the reviewer makes a great point how the synth, steel guitars, and programmed bass just ruined the song I Sing For things. Oddly enough he thought Some Become Strangers as being one of the best songs. Imperial Hotel no doubt is one of the better ones but it sounds like a track the Heartbreakers created in 5 minutes.
Her career and music was not a priority in 1984 and 1985. It was about the party. She was always a coke head much of the early 80s but touring and dating Joe Walsh took things to a dangerous level.
It brings back memories how much I hated that review. It didn’t make any sense to me when I read it back in the day or today. Very poorly written IMO.

Seriously, no disrespect to those who hated it, but I remember reading this when it came out and agree/agreed with it. I too think “Imperial Hotel” is the best moment on the record.
The same critic wrote the review of Tango. He got that right, too, imo.
