I don’t remember if this was posted in the past. Probably it wasn’t the exact question, so here I go.
Do you remember the first Fleetwood Mac records (albums, singles, vynil, CDs, tapes, etc.) you bought? And when? My list:
Live vynil album, I got it in 1982.
Tango in the Night. Cassette, 1987
Fleetwood Mac/Rumours Two on One. Cassette, 1988
Tusk. Cassette, 1988
In the early 90s I started to migrate all my FM material to CDs, and got new ones (Mirage, Behind the Mask, and later Time, etc.). I no longer remember the year I bought those. Why I didn’t get the Mirage tape in the 80s? I taped from a friend’s vynil album, though not the entire album but the songs I liked the most.
I never bought any single record, but as an honorable mention my brother got the YMLF single record in 1978. However, it was not until 1982 that a became a fan. I kept that 45-rpm record for a long time. It had Gold Dust Woman in side B.

May I help you?

My cousin moved in with us when I was in 7th grade, with her 8- track collection. I instantly fell in love with Rumours. I honestly can't remember if she also had White, or I went out and bought it. But I have very vivid memories of buying Tusk and Live.
Formats? Mirage was the first one I bought on cassette, and if you ever wondered when 8- tracks were dying, Bella Donna was the last 8- track I ever purchased.

I am not as old as you old timers on this board

Bought Rumours in 77 probably on vinyl. Tusk in 89 on vinyl and clung to it for a few years making a few mixtapes of it. To play in the car and so on. Loved it and still do.
Bought Bella Donna in 81 and was so disappointed, plus lived abroad with limited access to western music 81 - 84. I ignored Stevie and the band until Tango hit the radio waves in 87 and Seven Wonders pulled me in. Then bought all the releases I had missed and kept up from then on.
I even have Time.

I bought the Greatest Hits CD in August of 2000 at a WalMart in Lakeport, California. I can't remember after that.

Can’t remember the format (either cassette or CD) and can’t remember where purchased but the order I bought everything….
1988…didn’t initially buy TITN….but played the hell out of my parents vinyl.
This ignited my love for the band and went on to buy…
Behind the Mask
Rumours
White album
Mirage
Greatest Hits (1970)
Live in Boston (1970)
Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac
Mr Wonderful
Then Play On
Tusk
Live
Future Games
Time
Kiln House
The Dance
Say You Will
Bare Trees
Mystery To Me
Heroes
Penguin
Buck-Vie
Can’t remember at what point I bought Greatest Hits (88), Very Best of, or all the various other blues compilations.
Until the recent deluxe releases the only record I had on vinyl was Tusk. I still absolutely love the extravagance of that package.

Trouble in Shangri-La on CD, purchased in Autumn 2004, in Fairbanks, Alaska. :thumbs-up:
I was quite excited -- title track especially.

That release was a first. There was lots up build up before the release because Stevie had been working on it for years and it was her first solo studio album in over half a decade. They sold online downloads of the album. I remember buying the download and when the CD was released it would be mailed to you. The download gave you access to the album weeks before it was released. That clever trick made the album debut in the top 5.
It was the spring of 2001. Stevie also had a #1 dance track with Planets that summer. I was still in my club days back then. It was a great moment right before the world was going to change forever. Having said that its one of my least favorite Stevie solo albums. There are about 4 good tracks. It all has a similar studio musician sound over produced by Sheryl Crow. No real chances. No songs grab you. No guitar solos. No cracking drums. Its so meh.

My first was in 1997 or 1998 when I bought Greatest Hits (1988).
I remember playing that CD on repeat while trying to complete the Super Mario 64 video game.
I'm completely inept at video games, so that meant a lot of repeat playings of Greatest Hits -- which by the way included Oh Dianesince it was the UK version.
So I still have an association with the game when I hear some of those songs.
The first ones I bought at the time of their release were TISL, Say You Will, In The Meantime, and Under The Skin. It was a fun few years to be a newcomer fan.

I bought Mirage at a Zayer's. It was on display at every cashier.
I gave it to my mom as a birthday gift and then took it back!
I guess my gift was a Mirage. As it said, "Hold Me!"

On topic, I just took an online quiz, and it stated that FM Greatest Hits is widely considered to be the LAST 8-track ever produced.
I usually cling to formats like Stevie and Mick to a coke straw.... it's hard to believe that Bella Donna was MY last 8- track, 7 years earlier. I guess I was tired of fighting the player in my car, shoving shims in with the tape, to get the high end.

I remember Zayres. They were a bit wild. I got a bike there once. They would let the kids ride the bikes in the store. For some reason they were more exciting to go to than other department stores. Maybe it was just ours though.

I grew up near one. They had Mirage displayed at every cash register lane, like Hershey's with almonds.

I hated tape, with the exception of recording (using my tape recorder).
But, the first White album cassette I purchased, sounded so good in my Sanyo walkman!! But, after a few plays it started to wear. Those things were rough.

I worked at a grocery store in high school, and we had these little flat box cutters(with a razor blade in it). I always had to shove the cutter into the player in my car, beneath the 8-track, to get the treble to come in.

Finding good sound quality in cassettes was like wining the lottery. My Tango cassette sounded very very good. But the Rumours/White two in one, and the Tusk cassette were just fine. I bought them in 1988, but I don't remember when they were released.

Most cassette albums sounded just fine or even not good enough. I didn't understand why, what was the logic. I remember when I recorded some Mirage songs from a friend's vinyl album, on his Technics stereo deck in 1982, to a TDK AD cassette, it sounded really really high quality. So I don't know why most purchased cassette albums didn't sound high quality.
