Little by little all the 70s bands are planning farewell reunion tours. (...) Now I’m hearing that Fleetwood Mac may be next. There is even talk, sources say per Mick Fleetwood, of reuniting with Lindsey Buckingham, who was fired from the group a couple of years ago. (...) John McVie retired from touring. Fleetwood Mac now would just be Mick and Stevie. They need Lindsay Buckingham, writer of many of their hits, to get on board.
I'm hearing sources (per voices in my head) say "Lindsay" should stay on his solo wagon and let Mick and Stevie sort out the embarassment they got themselves into.

I really don’t believe for one second that Lindsey would want to do anything with FM now that Christine is dead. Before, yes, I can believe he would have been willing to record or tour with them again; but not without Christine. And Stevie has made it clear she was never going to record with FM again anyway, so she’s not embarrassed in the least. She made it clear in actions more than words.
I can see possibly a tribute concert for Christine, but that seems less likely with every passing day.

Will she make a solo album? Or sing the oldies and cover songs for the years to come?

I don’t know what’s going through her head. When she participated in the rerelease of Bella Donna and the Wild Heart, I thought “oh, ok, she doesn’t want to record anymore but she seems invested in rereleasing her solo stuff.” And the label did a really great job with the rereleases- no vinyl, just CDs with all the extras and interesting liner notes. But then she quit that and focused on her 24 Karat Gold concert video and released Show Them the Way, which was horrible. Now she seems focused solely on touring and was content to let the record label remaster the remainder of her solo albums in one package, rather than give each CD the individual attention some of them deserved (Rock a Little, Other Side/Mirror, Trouble in Shangri-La, for example). No way am I going to pay $100 for remastered CDs that I didn’t like the first time around, but if they decide to release the remastered CDs individually, I’m more than happy to buy some of them.
So I guess I’d say she’s going to stick to the oldies with occasional cover songs.

My natural reaction to rumors of Linsey reuniting with Fleetwood Mac for a farewell tour would be that will happen “When Hell freezes over.”
But seeing the announcement and ticket sales for the Eagles “Long Goodbye” farewell tour, and the astronomical ticket prices for it, and how much the band members must be netting, makes me think twice about that famous phrase the Eagles used decades ago… and did make me wonder about the idea of Fleetwood Mac with Lindsey.
They have the same manager (Irving Azoff - “He’s Satan, but he’s our Satan”) and big money talks.
I also believe that above all, and despite the crap that happened with the band firing him, Lindsey cares about the legacy of the band, and I could imagine him setting aside differences with Stevie to do a farewell tour.
Will probably happen when Hell Freezes Over… but I’m sort of thinking tonight about the rumors in this article: “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire…”

god, please let it be over. They're 100. Lindsey was fired. Christine is DEAD.
ANYTHING beyond this is just f*cking PATHETIC.
I just looked at The Eagles tour dates..there is no way John could/would do a similar tour.
It would just about kill him off.
There are too many dates, too close together.

I always said it would happen. But Chris's passing changed my mind. Fleetwood Mac is not Fleetwood Mac without Chris. Did not John say he was done. I just dont see the point except one last cash grab. Stevie is already on the road performing the same Fleetwood Mac songs she would perform with them. Lastly how insulting to the legacy for Stevie to do an about face and tour with Lindsey after destroying the legacy of the band when Chris was alive and able to tour and perform.
God help us all.

You had me right up until your last statement. Fleetwood Mac’s legacy was not destroyed. They’re still considered to be one of the most successful bands ever. Rumours is still going to sell to new generations, like it always has. For all intents and purposes, Lindsey’s firing at the tail end of their run didn’t destroy their legacy, of which Lindsey is a huge part of. I’m not saying his firing didn’t impact their legacy, but I am saying it didn’t destroy it. I would even say most folks consider Lindsey a member, and not Neil or Mike.

We have a right to differ. If Stevie goes back its her guilty conscience about how she is blamed for a crash landing legacy.
I know we will all get the "this is what Chris would have wanted" blah blah blah.
I was watching that CBS interview with Chris during OWTS rehearsals. She was talking how they recorded songs and expected the band to release an album next year. Stevie backed out of the album and then could not stop the tour because contracts were signed. She robbed the band of a final album and goodbye tour.
Just when you thought it could not get any worse. Clearly Mick is broke again and the auction money went poof.

This just sounds like something Mick expressed as a wish - that he’d like to reunite with Lindsey and tour - because of course he would. There’s no reason to think, at least from what we’re given here, that things have progressed at all beyond that.
That said, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see this happen. It kinda seems like Fleetwood Mac takes their cues from the Eagles, and whatever they do, Mac does, a year or two later.

I think the fact that they didn't rerecord old songs and release them as an album with a new lineup like Journey, Blondie, KISS and other bands have says that they believe the songs with Lindsey on them are good as they are.
That being said, I say just re-release Rumours and include Free Fallin', I Got You, and Don't Dream It's Over on them. As songs 13, 14, and 15.

The Eagles did heal with Bernie Leadon, but not Don Felder. It's not going to happen. Even if Stevie can get Sheryl Crow and Vanessa Carlton to protect her from Lindsey.

I am only for this if Stevie is replaced. I am even ok with a parody Stevie. Something to take the edge off. I am tired of people leaving, getting fired, and being replaced. It seems Stevie is never replaced. I would love to hire the singer of the Ho Ho's to run around stage as Stevie. Its the last tour so lets have fun. Stop letting Stevie have control of this band. We dont want Chris replaced with Sheryl Crow.
How about each night a fan at random is picked to be Stevie on stage. I will volunteer for Miami or Pittsburgh. Some of my old shawls may still fit.
Could you imagine how fun this could be.
I WANNA BE WITH YOU

I don’t think Lindsey would do something with Mick these days if John wasn’t there, given their inclusion on UTS, GOS, and LBCM. I mean Twisted didn’t have John but I don’t even know why John wasn’t on it. But that was 1995 or whatever, almost 30 years ago

If Lindsey didn't do anything with the remaining members, I don't think it would be for a lack of John. I think it would be a legacy issue. SYW was Christine-less because she chose that. But, I'm not sure he would do anything other than a tribute.

I think the legacy issue would make him more inclined to do something with Mick. It would show that they were able to find their way back together after everything they’d gone through. You know, a profound moment.

Yes, me too.I’m looking forward to this New concert….I think if Mick plays on Lindsey’s next album and includes any leftovers from the Buckingham/McVie sessions would be a nice finale. I would have liked a better end but as they say…..”It is what it is”. I’m done with any new “live shows” from any of them.

Yes, what about it? Lindsey was very disrespectful to them and also to not include Mick and John on Go Insane and Out of the Cradle.
Did you see the comment I wrote about 30 years ago?...so Law and Order is over 40 years ago. Lindsey's changed since 1981 and 1995. He appreciates having Mick and John on his solo music.
I firmly believe Lindsey wouldn't do any recording or playing live with Mick without John. And I'll say in 2013, Stevie would have toured Australia and New Zealand without John, Lindsey wouldn't. They didn't make it to Australia until Two Years later in 2015.

Yes, again a bad call in my opinion. Christine wanted to record with the band for the 2002/2003 album. She just didn’t want to go on the road to support the album. Could have been a much better album as would the 2017 album if Stevie stepped in.

I think it wasn't the right call Lindsey made as a member of a band.
As a Stevie fan, I am grateful for the 10, including Not Make Believe, songs I got from that album. And Say Goodbye, Steal Your Heart Away, Miranda, What's The World Coming To have Stevie so much in them they sound like co-lead vocals with Stevie to me, which I love!

I firmly believe Lindsey wouldn't do any recording or playing live with Mick without John.
Based on what, though? Mick and Lindsey have both talked about reconciling and expressed an interest in working together, acknowledging that it would probably be outside of Fleetwood Mac.
If John WANTED to do the project, that would be one thing. But John’s made it pretty clear that he’s done.

How effing noble of him. Too bad he wasn’t that loyal to Brett.
Of course, by the time John was diagnosed, Christine’s return was imminent, so why bother playing Oceania with a substitute bass player when they’d be going down there in a couple of years with the full Rumours lineup? Still, they needed a plan B in case they couldn’t get out of their contract.
However, if Christine’s return hadn’t been imminent and Fleetwood Mac looked to be going on hiatus for three years or worse, maybe he would have simply replaced John with a prerecord, just like Brett.

No option to buy anything or listen to from Crowded House or Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs.

I feel the same way about Stevie haters, especially the ones who use far nastier words than anything SteveMacDonald has said about Lindsey.
Do you think Mick and Lindsey would do something Fleetwood Mac related without John? I totally do, because I think they know that John wouldn’t care if they did or not. He wouldn’t begrudge them for working just because he’s retired. And since Stevie won’t join them, and without John and Christine, there really is no FM. The only option left is a Lindsey solo CD, with an appearance by Mick.

Stevie is my favorite member. And as someone who's given her my money for decades, I'm just disappointed in the path she took after the promises she made to her die hard fans during the In Your Dreams and 24 Karat Gold Tours.

My language is what it is. The songs from his solo albums were from the mid-late ‘90s original GoS, which came out over the course of SYW, UTS, and GoS. Those songs were reworkings of songs from an album he originally recorded with Richard and his original solo band that the label rejected in 1995. That’s when the label pulled the plug on Fleetwood Mac, and stuck Rob Cavallo and Mick on Lindsey, followed by John and then Christine on a few songs. They also did a soft reunion with Stevie on “Twisted.” They probably recorded those songs that way to give them flexibility on how they could be released -solo or Fleetwood Mac- given the poor performance of OOTC, the confusing Time album, and major changes at the label -Mo and Lenny, as well as Steve Ross were all gone and the new guard was being run by bean counters.
As for the 2013 material, that was always intended to be Fleetwood Mac.
So, again, I don’t see what any of that has to do with a hypothetical album that’s not going a Fleetwood Mac album that they’ve both already talked about possibly making.

I’m surprised you saw her in June, and I’m really sorry about the setlist being so lackluster, which I totally agree with you on. I think I read somewhere that her 24 Karat Gold tour was her favorite, so I’m thinking that’s why she kept virtually the exact same setlist. It’s really unfortunate she she did that.
I’m disappointed in many of the decisions Stevie has made, too, but not enough to react much. Lindsey walked out on the band in 1987 and I still bought his solo album; Christine quit touring with FM after the Dance and I bought her solo album; Lindsey wouldn’t let Christine record with them on Say You Will, and that one REALLY ticked me off, but I still bought the album and saw the tour; and Stevie said “it’s me or Lindsey” and the band said “Stevie” and I still saw that tour. And really, if folks are really ticked about something a band member has done, by all means boycott the tour or album or whatever.
When 4 of the Go-Go’s kicked Kathy Valentine out and she sued them, I refused to see them live for that tour. I didn’t get on a message board and whine about how much I hated either party on EVERY posting or thread. UnwindedDreams, you do not do that. You state your opinion about the matter but not in EVERY thread, EVERY post. You can post in a thread about your favorite Stevie song and not say “I hate Stevie because she destroyed FM.” That’s very refreshing!

I for sure was in joy just to be at a Stevie concert again, but the setlist was a letdown. It actually wasn't a lot like 24 Karat Gold Tour - no Gold and Braid, 24 Karat Gold songs, Crying in the Night, New Orleans, Annabel Lee. And of course no covers on the 24 K Tour.
I did the 2018 Tour too. I didn't boycott it. I've made it clear my feelings on the set as a Stevie fan.
Basically, I've just had it with Stevie reneging on her promises about setlists and new songs. But she'll always be my favorite.

Yes, I definitely agree her lack of follow through with virtually anything is frustrating. Bur after hearing her newer stuff, I’m ok with Stevie not releasing new material, unless it’s collaborating with other folks like Maroon 5 and others.

What? Please explain.
He put in prerecords and continued with his tour last year after Brett had to leave the tour.
ETA for context:
It’s just pretty convenient to say Lindsey “stood by John” when John’s prognosis was good and Christine’s return was imminent. However, when Brett had to leave Lindsey’s last solo tour because he was dying, Lindsey just put the prerecords in and carried on.
John went along with Lindsey’s firing; Brett stayed on through the first rehearsals with Neil and Mike, spoke up on Lindsey’s behalf, and got fired for it.
When there was almost certain guaranteed money later, we can wait. When people have moved on, so will we.

Perhaps Brett did not wish for them to cancel the tour?
Cancelling the tour would not have aided Brett, who was terminally ill at that point after having been through treatment for some time. Also, no one knows how Lindsey took Brett's death, and no one can judge how another person grieves. Maybe he felt it best for himself, and for the others in his band, to carry on. As for money, yeah, FM can make up dates and pay back money that promoters might lose when shows are cancelled. Lindsey solo? Probably not. Lots of considerations.
Yes Brett got fired by FM but that had nothing to do with Lindsey.... it actually had to do with Stevie.... who would have been fine carrying on without John, so I'm not sure your point there.

Brett totally got fired for sticking up for Lindsey. He even said as much.
However, as you’ve just demonstrated, Lindsey’s sense of loyalty related to canceling shows is situational and has nothing to do with integrity. That’s just smoke, which is actually my point.

Brett was in tour rehearsals and then wound up in the hospital on the eve of opening night of Lindsey’s tour. It wasn’t some premeditated decision to replace Brett with digital tracks.

See, this comment confuses me… you acknowledge FM fired Brett, but specifically say it was Stevie’s doing. Even if Stevie wanted to fire Brett, Christine, Mick, and John could have said “no way” but they didn’t. I don’t think Stevie would have refused to tour if he hadn’t been fired, especially since Neil and Tom were on board. But Christine, John, and Mick agreed to fire Brett. It’s common for folks to be fired or let go all the time in real life, so FM had the right to hire who they wanted. Fortunately Lindsey immediately hired Brett for his tour, but the point is, it was a group decision to let Brett go, no matter whose idea it was, so shouldn’t anyone’s anger or disappointment in Stevie for that decision be expanded to include John, Mick, and Christine?

Didn't the guy Michael Kianka play Brett's parts when Brett couldn't play?
I wonder if it was known that Brett had only a few months to live and that's why the tour continued until Lindsey and other members of the company got COVID.
When Danny Federici was diagnosed with melanoma right during Bruce's Magic Tour, Bruce hired Charlie Giordano because Bruce knew Danny had limited months left. Thankfully I got to see some early shows with Danny on that tour.
While every member of FM, except Neil and Mike, "went along" with Lindsey's firing, there was talk here that John was very angry about it and Mick had to talk to him about it. And I believe Lindsey when he said Christine emailed him that she had nothing to do with it, plus in one of her final interviews she said Neil and Mike were great, but I'd always want Lindsey back.
And if I'm being honest, if it was Stevie who didn't want to tour Australia because John was undergoing treatment, the sentiment would would be she was loyal to John.

And Lindsey's shows may not be profitable as is. I love Brett, and I prefer him to Ricky Peterson in FM. The past is the past, but I think if they can manage one last tour and do it in a way that will honor Christine's musical contributions, then that's better than nothing. As the article suggests, Stevie and Lindsey can put aside their differences and hate each other when they go to their nursing homes.
I would go to a show if Lindsey comes back and it's the last chance I'll ever get to see them again live. If they want to bring someone to play keyboards and help out with some of Christine's songs, why not?
And I bet my last dollar that those of you on here bawling and bashing Stevie over all of this, you know you're going to be sitting on YouTube watching all the shows whether you want to admit it or not, so chill out.

For the love of Lindsey... I am so confuddled by Steve's point.
A one-to-one comparison between John McVie in relation to Fleetwood Mac versus Brett Tuggle in relation to Lindsey's solo bands is just plain disingenuous.
Steve is always banging on about the holy trinity of Mick-John-Christine being the defining core of Fleetwood Mac. John is literally half the band's namesake, has played on the lion's share of Fleetwood Mac's studio album tracks, and together with Mick has constituted the only unchanging core stage membership of the group since its inception (bar a few weeks with Brunning).
Brett, on the other hand, while often a key backing performer in Fleetwood Mac tours and Stevie and Lindsey solo tours over the years, only played on a handful of studio tracks from Lindsey solo albums, and given Lindsey's spotty and relatively brief solo touring history, could only be considered a 'core member' of the on-stage group if you hand-pick certain tours. (None of this is to diminish Brett's relationship or legacy vis-a-vis Lindsey, but to clarify the utterly different context compared to John and Fleetwood Mac.)
And before Steve trots out the point that Lindsey was keen to tour in 2003 without Christine, needless to say that was a completely different situation yet again. Christine had voluntarily retired and did not wish to go on tour. She was not ill and looking to recover before returning to tour. She did not seem to begrudge them carrying on touring without her (nor would it be like her to do so) and sent the band flowers on opening night wishing them well. In other words, they had her blessings to proceed as they did.

And before Steve trots out the point that Lindsey was keen to tour in 2003 without Christine
I wasn’t going to mention Christine when she was retired. The band had every right to continue without her. There’s no reason to begrudge anyone.
Just as there wouldn’t have been a reason to begrudge the band for doing the Oceania leg without John (provided it was with his blessing, of course). Lots of bands have to fill out dates with a substitute while a member is recovering. Were Christine, John, Stevie, and Lindsey being disloyal to Mick when they had Steve play drums on GYOW after Mick got too sick to finish the show?
It was no grand act of loyalty decided against going to Oceania without John considering Christine was coming back and they’d be going there in a couple of years with the full lineup.

I'm far more open to this idea. Beyond a one-off reunion with most of the surviving members as a final sendoff, Fleetwood Mac can cap off their activity now. Even with some of the notable misteps that have transpired over the past few years, their legacy is still largely intact when looking at the big picture. The majority of the American public is likely unaware that the 2018 lineup even existed and simply know Fleetwood Mac for the Rumours era material, which is the band's legacy at this point.

Valid point, but the idea of seeing Lindsey back with FM but singing Oh Well would be such a disappointment to me. I’d want to hear Go Your Own Way, especially with Mick on drums. Oh Well would be more of a tribute to Peter Green than Christine McVie. And could a tour with big names really be feasible, as opposed to a one time tribute gig? Lindsey, Mick, Rick, Billy, and Stevie would be a must, and John too, if he’d be willing. I’m curious who some of the big names are you’d like to see.

Chris is not replaceable. Some bands can get away with replacing a musician when a band member dies or leaves. The Who did it with their bassist and the Stones did it with their drummer to finish a tour. However Chris was also a major singer in the band. Its one thing to hire someone for keyboards but its a whole different thing to hire someone to not only play her parts but sing her parts. I don't agree with this at all. I could stomach Billy singing Go Your Own Way because its sort of an anthem and was always the Mac closer. But Neil singing Second Hand News and Monday morning was cover band material.
I admire Led Zeppelin. They lost their drummer and called it a day. The magic was gone and would not go on without their member. Mick already destroyed the legacy of the band (sorry bwboy). Just when you think Mick cant go any lower he surprises you. All this to keep Mick out of bankruptcy? Call me bitter but I could not stand to hear the constant tributes for Chris by Stevie while her pal Sheryl is singing her songs. Go on the road with Neil and Mike. At least there would be some consistency there. Mick threw Lindsey out a window for 8 million dollars. Now he's willing to pretend that never happened for another 8 million dollars.
Enough. Legends don't get replaced. I love how easy Mick feels with replacing Lindsey and Chris yet Stevie is off limits. Its insane now Chris had to sit down with Bekka to explain the rules. Bekka you are wonderful but a little bit of advice. Its not wise to perform any Stevie songs. Reminds me of that 1970s commercial: "It's not nice to fool mother nature"
Its not nice to perform Stevie Nicks songs.

They should do 3 concerts at the most. The most.

The craziest part of that clip was not Fleetwood Crow. It was the part where he suggests the band performing Buckingham/McVie songs. I do agree with him that the Buck/Vie album was the best thing the band did since Mirage though.
Could you imagine this?
Mick: Stevie, I spoke to Lindsey and we are putting a few new songs in the set
Stevie: What songs?
Mick: Lindsey wanted to do a few from his album with Chris
Stevie: What album is that?
Mick: The album you boycotted because Chris and Lindsey wanted to record and went on without you
Stevie: You have got to be kidding me
Mick: Do you think you can learn Red Sun?
Stevie: You can reach me by fax machine from now on. You decide Mick. Its Dreams or Red Sun. I you do Red Sun, I will not perform Dreams ever. Do you understand me. But while we are talking, Sheryl is putting My Favorite Mistake in the set. Tell Lindsdey he needs to learn the guitar on that one

It’s all good, Macfan4life. As Dave Mason of Fleetwood Mac once said, “we just disagree.”
Personally, I’m glad FM didn’t break up when Lindsey walked out on the band. If they had, we wouldn’t have gotten some of my favorite FM songs ever, including As Long As You Follow, Save Me, Love Shines, Heart of Stone, etc. Notice those are all Christine McVie songs, plus other favorites like Do You Know, In the Back of My Mind, Love is Dangerous, No Questions Asked, etc. Likewise, I’m glad they didn’t break up when Christine left, even though it’s such a huge disappointment that Lindsey blocked Christine from recording on Say You Will because she didn’t want to tour. Ironically, the exact same thing he did to FM, he wouldn’t allow for Christine (Lindsey recorded on Tango in the Night, but apparently had no intention of touring with them). Despite all that, I still love the band.

I would just make some slight amendments, changing "Lindsey recorded on Tango" to "Lindsey made Tango," and "had no intention of touring" to "realized by the end of that long process that they hadn't cleaned up their act and he couldn't survive a tour with them."
Agreed re As Long As You Follow, Save Me, Love Shines, Heart of Stone, etc.
Though since Christine had put out a solo record before and later did again, I think there's a good possibility that, had she left with Lindsey in 1987, we might have gotten a 90s solo album from her that perhaps would have featured some of those songs.

I wouldn't even say she's the Wicked Witch.. modern Stevie reminds me more of Princess Langwidere from the third book, Ozma of Oz- the vain, lazy ruler who's mostly interested in taking off and changing her head, based on her mood, from her "cabinet full of beautiful heads" instead of doing anything meaningful or productive.

I have a blind friend who's absolutely a genius musician. He can play almost any instrument, and his playing is absolutely out of this world.
He pointed out a few months ago, that chatgpt says that he was born without arms or legs. I guess he plays those instruments telepathically?

Christine delayed the tour because she wanted to do a solo album with John.
