After this tour, what do you think is next for Stevie? There is no more Fleetwood Mac, so she can work on any project of hers that she wants.
A new album, with new material or demos. The Rhiannon project, Country album, Covers album perhaps? Maybe even an art show or something exciting like a book. I hate to get my hopes up. I don't think she has any desire to record anymore and I haven't heard a think about Rhiannon since Covid. I don't even think she has the desire to write a book. So maybe an art show of her paintings? She can't just keep touring all the time can she?

I don't think she will record anymore. I think next summer she will announce a big farewell tour even though it may not be the last time she walks on stage. It appears she is attaching herself to Sheryl Crow again. It was not posted here but Sheryl joined her on stage in Nashville. Perhaps we will see Stevie tag along on her tour or something.
In this video, Stevie talks about Sheryl almost joining Fleetwood Mac and taking Christine's place right during the Christine tribute. Way to go Stevie!

She’s a delusional nut. The only way Sheryl was coming *this* close to joining Fleetwood Mac in 2008/09 was if Stevie would’ve been able to oust Lindsey ten years earlier than she did. Of course that would’ve never worked at the time.

I would have loved to have seen how she eased into this Christine tribute. Ladies and Gentlemen, Miss Sheryl Crow and then they sing with Christine photos in the background.
Ending with her discussing how Sheryl was almost Christine's replacement.
Just odd.

She is totally insane. This is what happens when you spend 50 years being told how incredible you are and have nobody keeping you humbled for at least the last 20.
She’s so upset about her departed best friend Christine. So upset she decides to dedicate her last song to her complete with photos of the two of them. Then she also brings her other friend on stage during the same song. This is beyond bizarre even for her. Why not do something else with Sheryl? Nutjob.

Remember she does have a concert with Billy Joel in March 2024. I think she'll continue this tour with no name into next year too with more Billy Joel dates.
The Billy shows did not visit a lot of markets: St. Louis, District of Columbia, Miami, Tampa, or Jacksonville, Cleveland or Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Denver, Buffalo, New Orleans, Charlotte, San Antonio, Anaheim.

The Eagles just announced their swansong farewell tour. Its called the "Long Goodbye Tour." It starts in September 2023 and continues all through 2024 into 2025.
I think my prediction will come true. Irving will talk Stevie into a farewell summer tour next year.
Its sad our band Fleetwood Mac never had the honor of a farewell tour. But you know who ruined that scenario. The band was already on its last legs with health and voices. Yet someone could not tour one last time with the guitarist because of ego.
Steely Dan is opening for the Eagles. What a show! How appropriate too. The Steely knives referred to in Hotel California was a stab at him. His girlfriend at the time was a huge Eagles fan and he could not stand it. The Eagles knew this and they were friends with him but thought the line was funny. No matter how he tried to stab the Eagles he could not kill the beast.
That is the concert of the year. The Eagles goodbye will sell out but Steely Dan too? Incredible.

Yep. Of course, he could have STFU about the Classic fests, played a couple of Peter Green songs, and delayed his solo album (which, ironically, got delayed three years, anyway). Maybe don’t pick the final stretch to be an a$$hole. Maybe appreciate you got one more Fleetwood Mac album (sort of) and be completely political. Nope. Not Lindsey. He had to be such a colossal a$$hole that Irving Azoff responded to him in the press and gloriously let the world know that of all the colossal a$$holes he’s dealt with -which includes The Eagles, Steeley Dan, the Doobies, etc.- Lindsey Buckingham was the colossal-iest a$$hole he’s ever dealt with and it brought him nothing but sheer utter joy that the last Fleetwood Mac tour was the most profitable Fleetwood Mac tour ever.

I'd go see this tour only if Bernie and Randy (if his health permitted) were on it. I've seen Vince and Deacon with them and I've seen Glenn with them.

No, it was Christine's passing.
There's the three year rule in Fleetwood Mac. Last FM show was end of November 2019. Also that show was majorly marketed as THE FINAL CONCERT (small print was end of the 2018 tour). During the show, Stevie said the audience would be their last audience for a while.
Stevie was planning to tour through at least 2020, she would have done the oldies set at festivals and amphitheaters. I think she may have made an album considering her comment to Ellen with Sheryl Crow about making albums because you love to. And she probably would have toured that 2021 or 2022.
I'm sure you know Crowded House was touring 2020 and on for their Dreamers Are Waiting album. And The Knobs too.

Hard disagree. Mick and Mike talked about Fleetwood Mac still doing festivals and a small run of shows here and there. Fleetwood Mac as a touring entity was over, though.
During the show, Stevie said the audience would be their last audience for a while.
Lindsey said the same thing after the Hollywood Bowl show at the end of the Tusk tour.
Stevie was planning to tour through at least 2020
Which would have meant Fleetwood Mac could’ve done a 2022 run of festivals and a small run of shows in select markets. Christine was still alive and not entirely opposed.

Hard disagree. Mick and Mike talked about Fleetwood Mac still doing festivals and a small run of shows here and there. Fleetwood Mac as a touring entity was over, though. But the subject here was a farewell tour for FM like Eagles Long Goodybye - that tour is not a small run of shows. If Stevie was touring ia solo album in 2021 and 2022 like she did for In Your Dreams, would she take the time out to rehearse for a small run of FM shows? I guess she would if it was the same setlist as the 2018-2019 shows. Though when she rehearsed for Classic, it was after she finished her tour with Pretenders.
Lindsey said the same thing after the Hollywood Bowl show at the end of the Tusk tour. Right, so exactly what I was saying. It would be two years until you saw Mac again. And Stevie's three year rule started after the SYW Tour. So 2019 to 2022 is three years.

Are you being facetious? Steely Dan is not a person's name. Dan Fagan &Walter Becker are Steely Dan just like Vincent Furnier is Alice Cooper.
It is in fact a reference to Steely Dan, but not even close to that reason.
“One of the things that impressed us about Steely Dan was that they would say anything in their songs, and it didn’t have to necessarily make sense,” [Frey] said. “They called it ‘joke sculpture.’ When we thought of this song ‘Hotel California,’ we started thinking that it would be very cinematic to do it like sort of The Twilight Zone – you just have one line that says there’s a guy on the highway, the next line says there’s a hotel in the distance, then there’s a women there, then he walks in. It’s just like all one-shots just strung together, and you sort of draw your own conclusions from it.”
Frey recalled that he and Henley "were sort of trying to expand our lyrical horizons and just take on something in the realm of the bizarre, as Steely Dan had done.”
That’s one of the reasons they mention the group in the lyrics; another was because the Steely Dan song “Everything You Did,” which was released earlier in 1976, included the line “Turn up the Eagles, the neighbors are listening.”

No but I was typing fast. Yes I know Steely Dan is not a person. Walter Becker was the person I was referring to. He had a very competitive relationship with the Eagles and his girlfriend was a big Eagles fan and it drove him nuts. For decades people wondered what the Steely Knives line was about. .
****Cut and Paste****
“Apparently, Walter Becker’s girlfriend loved the Eagles, and she played them all the time,” singer/guitarist Glenn Frey is quoted as saying in Gavin Edwards’ Is Tiny Dancer Really Elton’s Little John?: Music’s Most Enduring Mysteries, Myths, and Rumors Revealed. “I think it drove him nuts. So, the story goes that they were having a fight one day and that was the genesis of the line.”
The call-out isn’t really insulting – it’s sardonic in a very Steely Dan kind of way. But that reference would later tie the two groups together on a couple of different occasions. Future Eagles bassist Timothy B. Schmidt, who at the time was singing with fellow country rock icons Poco, provided backing vocals on The Royal Scam. Don Henley was even invited to provide the backing vocals for ‘Peg’, but when Henley didn’t mesh with the track, those duties were filled by Michael McDonald.
In order to pay them back for the lyrical reference, Henley and Frey decided to include a Steely Dan reference in their own work. While penning the lyrics to ‘Hotel California’, the pair originally had the line “stab them with their Steely Dan / But they just can’t kill the beast” included. When that seemed too direct for their nightmarish tale, Henley and Frey opted to change the line to “steely knives” in order to preserve the metaphor. “We just wanted to allude to Steely Dan rather than mentioning them outright, so ‘Dan’ got changed to ‘knives,’ which is still, you know, a penile metaphor.”

I've never been a defender of Stevie's nutty behavior or her inflated ego. But, in her defense, think about this.
She's 75 years old - the age when most people have already retired, downsized, and simplified their lives. Sell the expansive home, move into a condo, travel, hang out with friends, and reflect on life during the few years that you have left.
Most dinosaur rock acts from the 70s and 80s who can still fill an arena with an expansive music catalog are doing exactly what Stevie is doing - slowing down and playing their catalog of "hits" in a show that is heavy on technology and pre-recorded backing tracks. Just step on stage and sing along with the technology.
At 75, do you want to return to a corporate job to deal with headaches, office politics, and stress that go with it? I'm sure Stevie doesn't want to deal with record labels, radio, press, streaming services, and the headaches that go with that.
Her philosophy is probably: I have a catalog of hits, I can fill an arena, I need to stay semi-active - I just wanna travel with a few friends and have whatever fun is left to be had.
She's certainly earned that right.

They've all been jerks in the past, but never in the past has one of the members had another member axed from the band. I don't care how old somebody is, her actions totally sucked in 2018. She put the entire band in an awkward predicament and 1000% ruined the opportunity for a proper farewell with all 5 of them intact.

I agree with this. I don't find it nutty at all and it's typical that the shows mainly include their hits. I went to see Roger Waters twice, as I was interested to listen the whole Dark Side of the Moon (first time) and his classic great P.F. songs. Probably I wouldn't have gone to the concert if his setlist included just his 2017 album. Similar to other "dinosaur" shows I went (Pet Shop Boys, Rod S., Tears for Fears, Olivia, Pat B., etc.).
Of course with Fleetwood Mac it's different. I'd have loved a show with pure non-hits. But most of the public are similar to me in the case of the other artists I mentioned. As Glenn Frey said, he was tired to sing Take it Easy but he knew the people loved (and paid a lot) to hear it.
Probably the answer to what's next is another tour, if her health allows it. I'm not interested in her solo shows and never was that much, cause I like her far more within Fleetwood Mac. And now that her voice is not good, plus all the absurd things I read she said, no way.

Oh - I agree with this statement 100%. I'm just saying, going forward, and given the age of 75 years old, and now the passing of McVie, this is probably the best plan she has on the table.
Taking the 2018 events as water on the bridge - what else can we expect from any of them? The reality is that Stevie will probably only live another 10 years. Does she really want to deal with record labels, streaming services, music producers, recording studios, and record promotions?

I've said before on here that I believe that had Christine been alive and well, FM would have been playing in 2023 the current stadium dates with Billy Joel. Mick mentioned I believe in 2020 that FM had an offer to do a run of stadium shows with another act.
And the Phoenix venue would have been the Cardinals Stadium rather than The BOB if it was FM and BJ, and not SN and BJ.

I'd love to see her switch gears and do something really different. It would be really cool if she played smaller venues with more of a roots/acoustic based band with new interpretations of her solo work. Along the lines of what they did with Gypsy in 2001. However, she appears to be really locked into the mainstream, big venue shows that she's been doing for decades. She could totally do a one woman theatre show with a really pared-down band and stories woven in between. She could sound way better with the right material and venue. Unfortunately, she's surrounded by folks who would completely blow off the idea and tell her she will make quadruple the money if she does a co-bill with Steve Miller next year.
That's probably why I thought all of the club shows she did with the Foo Fighters backing her up were probably the most interesting thing she had done in 30 years.

What’s saddens me being a Stevie fan was when In Your Dreams was out, Stevie said she would never do the same setlist ever again. While I thought the 24 Karat Gold set was hit heavy, it certainly had multiple songs in there to reward people who have been seeing her for decades. But then once the FM 2018 Tour ended, she started doing the 2005-2010 casino style setlist again. I’d probably say her 2022 setlist was the biggest robbery of true fans who bought tickets. 2023 early shows were good with Sara, Fall From Grace, and I Sing For The Things, but some more deep cuts could’ve replaced the covers and other Mac songs.
I want the IYD Stevie back who had the guts to make the audience hear 7 songs off a new album and 3 from a 10 year old album. I can’t help but wonder if her and Lindsey kind of drive each other to make solo albums.

Stevie is all about big numbers, so she won't do any of that stuff.

I don't think we will ever see the remaining member of FM on stage together again. I feel John is done. And I don't see Stevie on stage with Lindsey ever again. I think she is going to stick to the words she said last year.
I would love to see Stevie do something completely different. I am so tired of her touring. I have tickets for the Pittsburgh show in September and I'm going with my nieces and daughter in law and sister in law. 4 of them have never seen Stevie and I'm already telling them it's not the Stevie I have seen in the past. I feel almost embarrassed. She's wearing tennis shoes again and a knee brace. I hate the hair and I hate the "uniform". I'm worried about the voice, but I'm hoping it's gotten better with touring. She's just not that performer that I loved onstage anymore. And it's ok, she's 75, but now I think it's time to let go.
I wish she would write a book. It can be about her albums and stage clothing, jewelry and hair. I don't care. If she takes her time and does it right, it could come out around her 80th birthday. Even one last album would be great. I asked the question, because at this point in her life, Fleetwood Mac is over. Her last youthful years were her 60's. This is the time to do all the things she talked about over the years that she wanted to do. I don't think touring should be on the table anymore. Even Waddy and Sharon have to be getting tired.

Agreed. I think Stevie will continue to do exactly what she’s been doing the last few years — never-ending touring in big venues.
At 75, do you want to return to a corporate job to deal with headaches, office politics, and stress that go with it? I'm sure Stevie doesn't want to deal with record labels, radio, press, streaming services, and the headaches that go with that.Probably why various projects have not materialized (Rhiannon, Vault part 2).
Her philosophy is probably: I have a catalog of hits, I can fill an arena, I need to stay semi-active - I just wanna travel with a few friends and have whatever fun is left to be had.
That’s exactly what’s in her head. In addition to this nonstop touring, she will periodically add her vocal to some younger band’s track. She did that a couple of times last year, right? The Killers? The 1975? I can’t even remember the names of all these bands that ask her to do vocals on one song, and then the press writes about it like it’s the greatest thing ever. But you never hear about it again after three months.
Also, let’s not forget this latest repackaging of all her albums from an independent company. This will continue to occur.

I love this hypothetical theory. If this had happened, do you think Billy Joel would go on FIRST with Fleetwood Mac closing the show?

I agree with this, I would LOVE to see a small, intimate theater tour with more of an acoustic feel - but it won't happen.
Many retired people around the age of 75 tell me they just want to downsize but stay active. She can't just sit in her ocean view condo surrounded by minions. The arena tours are a way of getting exercise in a simplified manner where she can just show up and sing to backing tracks.
The tennis shoes on stage are probably the prescribed manner of treating knee and foot issues due to advanced age. She's now wearing full wigs on stage and using a simplified wardrobe. This is all just part of being 75.
You are correct - these arena tours are all that we can expect from here on out. An autobiography coupled with a big screen film biopic would be the fitting way to go out. Something like the Elton John biopic "Rocket Man" would be great.

That ship sailed a long time ago. Her voice could not handle a small intimate theater with acoustic songs. In some ways the big arenas are a blessing for her where she can wail loudly over the music in the same range over and over.
She is 75. I love her desire to keep going. But she is not playing for us. She is playing for the corporate fans who flock to these shows to hear the hits. Her name is a huge draw and has always been which is why she is the most important memeber of the former Fleetwood Mac.

I think the last true tours for the true fans were TISL and IYD because of the amount of new songs.
Again, I loved 24KG but I was really upset that only 3 songs from the album were performed. Additionally, two of those songs really aren’t lyrically full but more instrumental. If You Were My Love was great. She should have done the 3 she did and done 3 more 24KG songs instead of Annabel Lee, New Orleans, and Moonlight or kept the IYD songs and done 3 more 24KG songs instead of Stop Draggin, Leather and Lace, and If Anyone Falls! All the Beautiful Worlds, The Dealer, and Watch Chain!

Maybe only 3 songs from 24K gold but she dug deep for many songs. She was performing Crying In The Night, and we got a mashup of Bella Donna and Wild Heart. Gold and Braid too. Her set was fresh which is rare. Not since Enchanted had she had such a good set. This is when If Anyone Falls came back into her set and a rare (at the time) solo Gypsy.

Yea I said I loved the tour but I like new songs. Also If Anyone Falls returned to the set in 2005, not 24 Karat Gold.

It's a testament to her and her youthful voice, that we love her or (as in your case, Homer and others, used to (past tense), love her.
We, as her true, long term fans, should be able to reach out to her on a personal level to ask her to think about how she wants to be remembered when she's gone.

Fleetwood Mac would have to be Billy's opening act because he has always sold more tickets by himself than they could.

I mean FM did not play baseball stadiums in the states like Billy does on his own. It would be pretty embarrassing for Billy if he opened for FM with Neil Finn and Mike Campbell in it, since they are FM members who didn’t have a hand in the FM songs they were singing.
Maybe they would rotate like other bands have on co-headlining tours.
It’s interesting that Stevie’s set time is shorter than Billy’s so even though it’s Co—headlining, she’s pretty much opening like she did for Rod Stewart, another co-headlining tour.

I think you are correct in this analysis. The idea of a post-Rumours Fleetwood Mac as an "opening act" is sad and unthinkable. I remember when the Dave Mason lineup of Fleetwood Mac was the opening act on a bill with Reo Speedwagon and Pat Benatar in 1995. When they rolled through Houston, Texas on the outdoor shed tour, I didn't even bother attending. How incredibly sad.

Well here’s the thing..
if she sang quieter with more control of her voice I think she could sing with an intimate acoustic backing.
And I would love to see/hear that.
Of course she won’t do that because she is a huge diva star, though at 75 why not do something different for goodness sake.
Please..

I don't think Stevie perceives time and consequences in the standard linear fashion. She's like one of the heptapods from Arrival.
If nothing else, her speeches suggest an unusual concept of the passage of time.

I mean FM did not play baseball stadiums in the states like Billy does on his own. Yeah, they only reached that level, it seems, in 1978 (they played several stadiums). Although in more recent times, they managed to play some stadiums, like Dodger, sometimes as part of a festival lineup. But even the US Festival crowd, which hit 200,000 on the second day, dropped to 75,000 for Fleetwood. At no time could Fleetwood have played the Coliseum or the Rose Bowl as the sole act on the bill, the way Springsteen, the Stones, and Elton John did.

In the 70s, it used to be popular, and then we really moved into the small opening act and huge main act model, but I don’t think that model can sustain itself in current times. Ticket prices are so outlandish that people want a bigger bang for their buck, no matter how much they love the main act.
