https://youtu.be/1qhIpyVx9aY Our show in Knoxville, Tennessee. The crowd was full and enthusiastic. No real errors to remark on. I have posted a good dozen videos on YouTube and a few YouTube shorts. Not the best seats , I should have waited for the ticket prices to drop. Over all a good show. Stevie hit some high notes here and there. We will have to put up with Stevie for a while longer. She still can fill the arenas at the age of nearly 75 years old.

Did she mention Buckingham Nicks? She mostly has done that when playing Birmingham or TN.

One side: “No, no, I hate her, she broke up my favorite band, she’s old, she can’t hit high notes anymore, she should retire, she’s embarrassing herself.”

The other side: “Stevie is a goddess who can do no wrong. She sang Landslide last night as good as she did the first night she ever sang it. She still has the magic that made her the first female two time inductee in the RRHOF.”

Next stop Nissan Stadium with Billy Joel not at the Bijou in Knoxville. Haters are going to hate. We know Stevie’s voice is shot and she lumpers around but she has good tone and is in great and loyal band. Stevie said herself that she is an entertainer and not making obscure artistic statements.

Stevie is a proud oldies act. Good for her!

And noted that if any artist plays the Bijou, they failed in their career!

Fourth option: Stevie is always worth talking about, no matter what actually gets said. We sometimes forget to talk about the other gazillion members of Fleetwood Mac, so Stevie is our rock and prod.

Fifth option: When is that Dolly Parton album getting released? I’m tired of waiting around for music stars who sit on their stuff until Just. The. Right. Moment.

Last thing I heard, the date is November 17th. Probably by design for Black Friday sales. Sell it for $10, and move 5 million copies.

And Stevie and Dolly's friend Kid Rock is on the album. See the 2014 video of Kid Rock kissing Stevie's neck at a show in the old Palace at Auburn Hills!

I cannot deny this :sorry:

Do you really think her induction kept Tina or Diana out, though? They weren’t even nominated, were they? And they can still get in. From what I read recently in a book about Diana Ross and the Supremes, it sounds like Diana may have burnt some bridges and good will with regards to what she did to Florence Ballard, her Central Park concert, and the fiasco with the Supremes reunion tour. But she’ll still get in.

I’m more frustrated Cyndi Lauper didn’t get in this year. The Go-Go’s were kept out year after year until the recent documentary that showed how innovative they really were. I’m sure Tina and Diana will be allowed in, even though I fondly remember when someone here said Stevie shouldn’t have been inducted because she doesn’t play an instrument, yet they had no problem with the Supremes being in, even though they didn’t play instruments, either.

I do. If you keep yourself in a silo of music (Stevie, Sheryl, Madonna) which is mostly consumed by white people, you'll believe Stevie is the Queen of Rock. Whereas, people who listen to Black Artists (i.e. Lizzo and Beyonce) will tell you Tina Turner is the Queen of Rock. She had more hits than Stevie, much bigger tours, and her influence is seen in Janet, Beyonce, Lizzo, Britney and so many others.

And don't get me started on how the Hall has cheated Cher. Sonny and Cher should have been in the Hall moons ago and Cher should have been inducted twice after Tina. Diana, Cher, and Carole King should have been inducted twice before Stevie. Again, Cher isn't even inducted.

Stevie has Irving, who got himself inducted, and with Irving's friendship she had Jon Landau to help who is the biggest player at the Rock Hall.

Tina was inducted in 2021.

The problem I have with Stevie's induction is not so much that she got in, but more the fact that Female artists who were / are much more successful than her either haven't been inducted yet, or were inducted after her.

Stevie's solo career is a mixed bag. Her first album went number 1 and subsequent records sold well and all had hit singles ( though each album that followed the last sold less and less). By the 90's Stevie was as bad as Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper in that she wasn't having hits and she wasn't selling albums anymore as well as having to play some smaller venues.

She had a career resurgence thanks to the Dance but even with that none of her recent studio albums have sold even close to what her 80's output did.

When she took the stage they were playing Rhiannon which isn't even a solo song and that makes me think the board who decided to vote her in didn't even really know her music.

Tina Turner has consistently played Arena's and Stadiums since her Private Dancer comeback and at one point she had a record for the largest crowd ever at a single concert. She also had a record for having sold the most concert tickets of any female artist.

Cyndi Lauper was the first female to have 5 singles in a row make the top 5 and in total out of x number of singles that she's charted she had 2 number 1's.

Pat was the first woman to sell out MSG.

I can't help but think Stevie was put in by Irving to stick it to Lindsey.

As for her voice I would argue it's hit and miss. It's not what it was for sure but it's ok. It seems to vary from tour to tour. Some tours it is very nasal and others it isn't as bad.

Personally I don't get why she'd rather do the oldies tour vs making new music or finishing any of the other projects she has mentioned.

She'd rather play a cover of The Buffalo Springfield than her most recently written song which she said is as good as Edge of Seventeen.

Yes, but what people are complaining about is that Stevie was the first woman to be inducted twice, and that just wasn’t fair. Tina and Diana should have been inducted twice BEFORE Stevie. To me, it doesn’t matter when or in what order folks are inducted, as long as they are inducted.

Why shouldn't women of color have the honor of being first inducted over a privileged white person?

No reason. A couple of things though- I think Stevie’s people pushed harder for her induction than Tina or Diana’s people. Also, the RRHOF almost always inducts people who had a recent ‘success,’ and that year, Stevie had just come off a surprisingly successful tour, a concert film documenting said tour, and started another huge tour with Fleetwood Mac. The Go-Go’s had been nominated several times, but only inducted after a successful documentary was released that year. They even acknowledged if it hadn’t been for the publicity from the movie, they wouldn’t have been inducted.

The good news about having more women in the RRHOF is that they now can vote, so hopefully that will help with including more diversity. But they have to vote! The Go-Go’s have already said they intend to vote every year, because they feel women are underrepresented in the RRHOF. Hopefully, Diana and Tina are voting as well, and presumably for more POC.

I didn't know you had to push yourself to get in... isn't that corruption? You "pay" your way in.

The Concert Film of the 24 Karat Gold Tour came out almost 2 years after Stevie's induction. Also, her 2018 tour with Fleetwood Mac should have nothing to do with being inducted as a solo artist. Bringing that up makes the argument that she was inducted for being Stevie Nicks the persona rather than Stevie Nicks the artist with 8 albums. Also Tina had a box office smash West End Musical and Broadway musical in 2018 and 2019. Is that a recent success? Where's the musical about Stevie?

I believe Stevie should be in the Rock Hall for her solo albums, videos, and solo tours. But again, Tina paved the way for women to walk away from a band. And Tina didn't have the help that Stevie had to start a solo career. Tina had nothing when she left Ike and Tina. Have you watched HBO's Tina? It'll have you in tears. And I reject that Tina Turner has to push to get inducted. Tina's impact on music and rock and roll has been whitewashed by people like Irving Azoff and the white ruling class of the entertainment industry. Another classic example of a white woman in music standing on the shoulders of a Black Trailblazing Woman. Thank God Carole King had the moral conscience to say Aretha opened the door for women to be inducted into the Rock Hall. Stevie did not mention the women who paved the way for her. Only that she told HAIM members to make a solo album so they could be inducted into the Hall. It's as Christine said to RollingStone - Stevie is self-obsessed.

Tina, Diana, Carole have been recognized by Presidents with the Kennedy Center Honors or the Gershwin Prize yet they were inducted (for the second time) after Stevie, or not as a solo artist in Diana's case.

People pay for nearly every kind of award, sadly (just ask meghan markle.)

Academy Awards are effectively bought and paid for-- studios do a whole marketing campaign, sending freebies to academy voters, lavish lunches, wining and dining, expensive media ad campaigns. Grammys no different. It's all managers and publicists pulling strings and schmoozing the right people. It's where Stevie was always smarter than Lindsey in that she was more than willing to play the game and to align herself with the most influential people. Plus early on she got a good tutoring on all that from Henley, according to her. Once she figured out you hire the biggest pitbulls to do your dirty work for you so you can feign innocence, she was set. Remember, she gets the presidential suite because "I demand it"

Does it mean legitimately deserving people don't win awards? No. But it does mean not-so-deserving people win a lot of things that they wouldn't have based on merit alone.

You diminished Tina Turner by suggesting she should have been inducted into the Hall of Fame as a solo artist before “a privileged white woman” because she’s a WOC. Gee, why not say she should have been inducted first because she was a victim of domestic violence or whatever other passively pejorative classification you can muster up? Funny, I’m the one saying she should be considered on her own merits, not her demographic profile. But, go on with your garbage insults instead making better points.

Since you’re hellbent on bringing race into the conversation, Tina Turner’s post-Ike solo music was written and produced by white people, such as Holly Knight, who wrote songs like “Love Is a Battlefield” and “Warrior” and Rupert Hine (remember him?). She recorded mostly outside of the United States, her music wasn’t remotely urban-centric, and she was hanging out with the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bowie, Clapton, Bryan Adams, Mark Knopfler, etc. That’s what SHE wanted. Hell, she married a German, is living in Lake Zurich, Switzerland, and is now a Swiss citizen, relinquishing her American citizenship in the process.

Tina wanted the association with Jagger and Bowie much like Stevie does with Tom Petty and the Eagles. And speaking of La Nicks, unlike Tina, Diana, Cher, Pat, et.al., Stevie wrote or cowrote the vast majority her own material. So, it basically is a coin toss between better entertainer or singer-songwriter.

You make the same argument Trump makes that someone's race should not be considered for an honor. So when President Biden pledged to nominate a judge who is a woman of color for the Supreme Court, was he passively pejorative? And it was totally uncalled for you to say I should have said Tina should be inducted for speaking well. Perhaps you think that and maybe you have white fragility.

Have you had any discussions with Black friends about Tina Turner? I am always told by my friends they consider her to be the Queen of Rock and Roll.

And you don't read posts so you wouldn't see I wrote she had more hits, bigger tours, and a huge impact on today's most popular artists such as Beyonce, Janelle Monae, and Lizzo. Do you know these artists?

Funny, I was judging her not by the color of her skin, but by the content of her achievements.

You’re the one dwelling on her race. She escaped America to get away from people who constantly brought up her race. People like you. Tina Turner didn’t want to be a “black” entertainer, she wanted to be a rock star who transcended race, creed, gender, and nationality.

So when President Biden pledged to nominate a judge who is a woman of color for the Supreme Court, was he passively pejorative?
No, we’re not going there. The HoF and SC should never in a million years be equated.

And it was totally uncalled for you to say I should have said Tina should be inducted for speaking well.
How so? The way you keep bringing up her blackness and wanting to turn that into something relevant about her as a performer is akin to an old person saying “oh, he’s well spoken.” That’s what YOU’RE doing.

Perhaps you think that and maybe you have white fragility.

Not for a minute am I buying that you didn’t put your Stand Back shawl on and twirl awkwardly for at least 12 seconds.

Hahaha.:shrug::shrug:

Taylor has a good 10 years until menopause, so I think she wins by default.

What about Randy Bachman (The Guess Who/BTO)?

These Eyes, Undone, Laughing, No Time, American Woman, No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature, Let It Roll, Let It Ride, Takin’ Care of Business, You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.

Whoa ... I didn’t know that the Let It Ride dude was also the These Eyes dude!

Then again, I used to think the You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet dude was Joe Walsh because he sounded like the Life’s Been Good dude.

Same writer, different singer. These Eyes was Burton Cummings, Let It Ride was Fred Turner.

No, weÂ’re not going there. The HoF and SC should never in a million years be equated.

How so? The way you keep bringing up her blackness and wanting to turn that into something relevant about her as a performer is akin to an old person saying “oh, he’s well spoken.” That’s what YOU’RE doing.

Perhaps you have a severe learning disability that prevents you from having normal reading comprehension.

You mean like when I said Tina was simply kick ass better? You know, without qualifiers.I don't know how you could make a comment about a disability like that. I think you should apologize for that comment. I responded directly to everything you wrote. No need to hit or hit below the belt.

I don't want to fight with you. You hang onto my posts and try to hurt me, beat me down, and belittle me. Please block me if my posts bother you. They are my opinions.

I wish for diversity in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

It would have been so historic and empowering to have Tina Turner or Diana Ross as the first woman (Tina) or women (Tina and Diana) to be inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I listed the reasons for Tina to have been inducted before I mentioned that two women of color should have been inducted twice before Stevie.

I don't know why you don't want to amplify the feelings of the Black community about representation in the music industry. They believe Tina is the Queen of Rock. Just like Janet, not Madonna is the Queen of Pop. It doesn't matter that white people wrote songs that Tina sang - they're Tina's songs because Tina hit those vocals out of the park and they're on her albums. It's like Talk To Me is Stevie Nicks' song.

Young black persons want to see that anything is possible for them like Halle Bailey playing Ariel or Beyonce winning the most Grammys. So not seeing Tina having that honor was sadly a moment that was missed.

Janet Jackson said "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, induct women in 2020" - how is that different than saying induct Tina and Diana twice before Stevie Nicks? Have you heard of OscarsSoWHite? Do you agree that Oscars criticism?

I am acknowledging that the deck is stacked against women of color. I also support affirmative action and reparations. This influences my outlook.
And I believe that Tina's career surpassed Stevie's solo career which earned Tina the right to be inducted twice before Stevie Nicks. I believe Stevie's induction before Tina was whitewashing music history and taking away something deserved by a woman of color, once again, that happens every day in the United States. It was sad for music history and for the United States.

I believe the Hall has a problem with acknowledging Black artists and gay female artists.

Nothing but the best for you and yours.

You’re the one name calling and intentionally taking things out of context.

The the first inductee was Chuck Berry and the first woman inductee was Aretha Franklin.

You’re virtue signaling for something that’s not problem. The Hall has been pretty spot on.

How?!? How would it be any more historic for an organization whose first inductee and first female inductee were POC??? If anything, Stevie was the exception, not the rule.

While I think Tina was better and should have been first, a very legitimate case could be made for Stevie. Unlike Tina or Diana, Stevie is a songwriter and is still relevant on the touring circuit. Tina retired and Diana was semi-retired. Stevie never retired. The reason she was able to get Lindsey fired is the same reason she was the first woman inducted twice. She was the bigger name in the moment.

The person I wrote good reading comprehension to, after they said I said Tina wasn't inducted into the Hall of Fame, said I "should be studied;" I didn't say they had a disability. That person then attacked my sexuality by telling me to "eat a d***" They didn't say eat a booger or eat s***. I don't need to apologize for that.

You started by responding angrily to me with "What the hell are you talking about?" Is that a civil response to someone?

I don't see what I took out of context. I responded to everything you wrote to me.

It would be more historic because it's an achievement. It would have gotten tons of press and the current generation could have discovered Tina. Tina is still around to be celebrated.

I just think our views are different based on our upbringing and the company we keep. Most of my friends are Black so my views are influenced by my friends.

I also disagree that Stevie was a bigger name than Tina in 2019. Tina had a blockbuster West End musical about her starting in 2018 and her Broadway run started in 2019. And again, I wish you'd respond to Tina, Diana, and Carole King receiving the Kennedy Center Honors when Stevie has not.

I also think it's disrespectful to Tina to point out that she isn't a songwriter. Tina is the songs she sings.

Again, just opinions.

So, you made a snarky comment and got told to EAD, which means you’re just as capable of making snarky comments as anyone else on TL. But when I make a snarky comment, “you’re such a bully…oh, the abuse.”

And EAD is the same “f**k off.” Do you have any evidence they even knew your sexuality?

As for “What the hell are you talking about,” it’s because you were virtue signaling for something that’s not a problem. Which is something you do. You virtue signal, call people names, make character assassinations, and play victim when people snap back or come back with facts.

BTW, people joke around. Like, did you notice how I asked Homer if he wore a towel and did the crackhead dance during Gold Dust Woman and he said he did the Edge walk, you know, instead of making a federal case?

I don't see what I took out of context. I responded to everything you wrote to me.
The whole “well spoken” exchange comes to mind.

It would be more historic because it's an achievement.
Stevie’s achievements were also worthy, though. Whether or not they were more deserving is open for interpretation, but Stevie should absolutely be in twice.

It would have gotten tons of press and the current generation could have discovered Tina. Tina is still around to be celebrated.
Tina still was a year later.

Good for them. They got their honors, Stevie got hers. Broadway isn’t rock. Stevie had a successful solo tour in 2017 and was on a successful Fleetwood Mac tour in 2018-19. Stevie was out headlining arena tours, Tina and Diana weren’t.

Would you tell someone to "eat a p***y"? I find saying eat a d*** to be homophobic.

Tina was inducted 2 years later.

Broadway isn't rock just as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the Music Hall of Fame.

The 2018 FM Tour should have nothing to do with Stevie's solo induction. 24 Karat Gold Tour, that's fine.

As far as your issues with me, I'm still a member here and I haven't been banned.

I agree with those who think Tina Turner should have been in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before Stevie. Tina’s live show alone should have pegged her as a Hall of Famer. As for Diana Ross I see her being inducted within the next 3 years. Deserving women are finally getting what has been long overdue for them.

You expect me to believe you hang out with black folk and haven’t heard EAD before? Have you never watched Boondocks?!?

Tina was inducted 2 years later.
And, she’s still alive, so she got her moment. So, twice inducted, Kennedy honored, biopic’ed, Broadway played, massively successful, utmost respected in the industry, yet somehow still not respected enough because Stevie was the first woman inducted twice, proving the Rock Hall are a bunch of racists despite the fact Chuck Berry was the first inductee, six of the first ten inaugural acts inducted were black, and Aretha Franklin the first female inductee.

Got it.

The Hall is obviously not as woke as you.

Your virtue is firmly signaled.

Yikes. It is just as wrong to give someone a job BECAUSE they happen to be a random color/sex/age etc as it would be to NOT give them a job because they were of a certain demographic. Merit should be the only deciding factor period.

I played back my video of Stevie prior to Sara I can’t make anything out of what she said. The crowd didn’t help with their jabbering. I looked for other people’s videos of that show and I couldn’t find any that had Stevie speaking. By the way the closer videos I found of Sara are terrific. I like the arrangement on this tour.

What she meant to say is “i am Fleetwood Mac and I don’t care if I do this song now!” And of course, none of the rest of Fleetwood Mac could give a **** which songs she does in her solo set and likely never did.

Instead of pulling out rare Fleetwood Mac gems that get forgotten in the context of the band’s setlist, she plays the same Fleetwood Mac songs she’s done with the band a million times.
