I'm happy and sad at the same time. Honor her work is recognized but sad she never saw it happen by just a few months.
How Buck/Vie was never nominated and won for best pop duo is beyond me. This is way I hate award shows.

It's still weird knowing that she's gone.

Sheryl on piano, singing the first verse. Bonnie sitting on a stool, and sang the second verse. Mick had his talking drum, and was sort of doing a heartbeat sound with it, even for a couple seconds after the song was over. It was pretty moving.

I think tonight was the first time it really hit me. The day her death was announced I was driving home from burying one of my best friends who suffered from a horrible disease for the last few years. I literally heard about Chris’s death on XM just as I was about to pull into my driveway. I was already numb from
The past few days. I dunno, it certainly wasn’t like I didn’t get it. But it didn’t “hit” me. Until tonight. I’m not sure I ever realized how important she and her music was to me. I can trace my fandom of Fleetwood Mac to three different times in my young life and each time it was Chris and her songs that brought me in.

I didn’t like the first verse or the drumming at first. I thought it seemed to get better once Bonnie started singing. Mick thumping the heartbeat after the song finished tore me up.

It would have been nice if Christine was alive to receive her Grammy. Christine was such a great vocalist for more than a half of a century.

Bonnie is a much more emotionally evocative singer than is Sheryl (and I like Sheryl).

Yes, you could feel Bonnie's words. Sheryl was singing from her head and not really connecting to the lyrics. When they sang together it was a tad messy.

It looked to me like Bonnie was wearing an outfit designed by Margi Kent - whose designs Christine wore on stage for many years.

Christine and Bonnie knew each other for many years, but I wonder if they were good friends. They’re white women with deep blues roots and incredible pop sensibilities. That would have been an amazing side-project collaboration.

Wow, I felt that.

Bonnie sounded fantastic. I agree Sheryl seemed less connected (emotionally) to the song. Maybe she was concentrating on the piano parts. The two women did not synch well when they sang together, but Bonnie's "like never before" at the end gutted me.

I normally would say drums are superfluous on this song, and they are, but I was glad to see Mick up there beating a heartbeat through the performance. And finally, seeing Christine's lovely fact smiling down on them--well, I am really feeling this now. I'm about to cry. Seriously.

Mick's heartbeat drum is the best part of this performance. It's hard for me to listen to anyone other than Christine sing this song. Sheryl and Bonnie did a capable rendition, and I feel that they respected the song, but they're just not Christine.

I agree. But I would have been happy with just Bonnie. Sheryl doesn't have the right voice for this song.

I agree. Just Bonnie would have been better. One of the reasons I think this is that, like Christine, Bonnie was a pioneering female musician/singer/songwriter who came out of a blues background. They really had a lot in common.

And neither were flashy or conceited. They just saw themselves as one of the guys. Though their songs are distinctly from a woman's perspective.

Yes, neither of them seem to have cared much about being a celebrity, crafting a persona for themselves, or making headlines for non-music-related gossip. They achieved legendary status simply by being the best at what they did, and stayed humble about it because they knew their work spoke for itself.

I was struck by how old Mick is looking. I know he’s old….but he’s always looked pretty good for his age. This was the first time I’d really realised… ‘this guy is old’

Yes..you either look “older” or you’re dead. It’s sad to see our band age ……..

That would have been a great idea. After songbird they could have transitioned into Two Kinds of Love and Stevie could have dedicated it to Chris. It was written for her anyway.

And then they performed “One in a Million”— a song Bonnie would kill.
