Well the tour was not a Rumours lineup so I think this is the right forum. What song from the Tango in the Night Live DVD is your favorite? There are 13 songs, so it wouldn't fair to post a poll with just 10 options:
1 The Chain
2 Everywhere
3 Dreams
4 Seven Wonders
5 Isn't It Midnight
6 World Turning
7 Little Lies
8 Oh Well
9 Gold Dust Woman
10 Another Woman
11 Stand Back
12 Songbird
13 Don't Stop

I went with "Another Woman." A great version of a song that turns up on no other live release.
Honorable mention to "Isn't It Midnight" for showcasing how Stevie could have contributed to the studio version.

Contrary to other opinions.... I really don't like this Isn't It Midnight... Something about the percussion I don't like.

As much as I liked the live concert, the lip syncing concert video is not my taste. I hate all the Stevie close ups in Dreams and GDW. I think the Chain is a lame version and someone correct me if I am wrong but both Rick and Billy take Lindsey's vocal which sounds cheezy IMHO. I love Isn't it Midnight but the close ups of Stevie ruin it for me.
I vote Everywhere. Its a live cut of the song being played during rehearsal. We get to see Stevie smoking one of her long Kool 100 cigarettes and her with little make up, hair fried and her jean skirt? But her coming in late and her "I wanna be with you" is so vintage Stevie how could you not like it
Seriously, if this was the actual video, Everywhere would have been a big hit on MTV and possibly a big top 10 hit.
BTW, the editing compared to Red Rocks is only slightly better. In Red Rocks Stevie has different hair but they keep the camera for live shots far from her. The close up singing was reshot. With Tango, we get those fuzzy, cloudy edits with showing the crowd with some haze of the band on stage. Red Rocks is so bad its good. Tango is just bad. I like Songbird with showing live clips because at least its not lip synced
My least favorite moment on this Tango video is GDW; Stevie with her Debbie Gibson hat, big earrings, and the constant close ups and Stevie's constant "oh yeah's" Pick your path and I'll pray OH YEAH. Watch your sunrise love to go down OH YEAH. NOT AGAIN BABE

I saw the tour early when Little Lies was just breaking on the charts. They did not perform Everywhere. But when it was released as a single this video shows them rehearsing the song that they probably did not expect to play and then added to the set. It should have been the official video for Everywhere. A lost opportunity IMHO. I'm pretty sure in 1988 I waved my cigarette around to the opening of Everywhere just like Stevie  I loved my white washed jean jacket as much as I loved hers :) I bought mine in 1987 and it was probably the happiest I ever was buying something. White washed denim was the hottest and fasted fashion trend ever 1987-1988
Chris chasing the camera guy with the hair dryer is pretty cool too.

I haven't watched in years because it's such a poorly produced "live" show even without the numerous Stevie closeups. I think I Loved Another Woman was the least overproduced of all the songs so it almost wins by default for that. Rick's performance is pretty great though.

It's the only Rumours video I don't own(other than I think I have a vhs COPY somewhere). SO CHEESY. Old I'm Not The Boss's closeups are so ridiculous. Tango is/ was overproduced in every way possible. Every facet of it.

That's an understatement on all accounts. I am in the minority around here that does not really care for Tango. Like Time, it has a few excellent songs but its not something I care to play. I understand the pressure Lindsey and the band were under but its just way too programmed and over produced. Everywhere is an excellent example. The album track should have been the demo. A programmed track that they could have pumped life into like the live version. Then Everywhere fades to even more programming of Carolyn. Very little if any group effort. Chris's songs are good and the only ones you hear on the radio today. Even on 80s channels you never hear Big Love or Seven Wonders. They are lost in the glitz pop crap of the mid/late 80s. For an album that had several pop hits, it sold far less than albums that had similar radio success. I actually prefer Behind The Mask overall. This video of their concert is also typical of the late 80s. The visual was more important than the audio. I dont even like Tango's album cover. Slick, "modern" late 80s. Big hair, big shoulder pads, shiny outfits, Debbie Gibson hats, long gloves OH YEAH. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOT AGAIN BABY NOT AGAIN
The reason Little Lies was the biggest hit and is the only top 10 single you still hear from the album is because it has life (sorry Steve, not because Lindsey left). Its not stuck in the programmed 80s sound. Thank goodness Little Lies did not take the same approach as Everywhere. It would not have had the same success. Long story short, Tango has good bones and some good songs and had tremendous potential but the big 80s synth pop controlled far too much of this album. Stevie contributed all "current" and freshly written songs for Tango. Someone should have stood up and told her the songs were crap and asked her to dig out an older song like Smile At You or something.

I don't really care for Tango OR BTM. White through Mirage live in my heart, always. The ONLY other FM album that does, is BuckVie.
If I were spending the rest of my life on a desert island, those 6 albums would go with me. The rest are just filler.

Tango In The Night
Nights In Estoril
Freedom
Isn't It Midnight
Smile At You
What's The World Coming To
Little Lies
Miranda
Thrown Down
Save Me
Running Through the Garden
Bleed To Love Her

Amen. I love all the album overall, but those two Stevie songs toward the end (I love "Seven Wonders") are terrible. She had good ones in her hip pocket. Had the band used those instead, the album would have been solid start to finish.
Such a shame.

This thread had me watch the Everywhere video last week. Last night in bed while watching youtube, my smart TV recommended Isn't It Midnight from the same video. I have not seen in years so I played it. OMG. Its completely a video of live footage edited in. At no point while performing on stage will you see an audience. They show audience shots but its of the band walking and waving on stage. Even crazier is some of the same clips appear from the Everywhere video i.e. Stevie with her red hat talking to the back up singers and Rick and Billy coming down the stairs and waving. I was 17 when this came out and sadly I was fooled. At least Red Rocks showed the actual concert performance from a far with the real audience. The close ups were just shot and added later. Tango is ZERO live performance with splices of backstage, stage shots of the band not performing. The band is lip syncing and performing on stage while everything around them is edited in. Watch the link below. The audience is edited in. Also see the same clips from the Everywhere video. Were we all this dumb in 1987?

What do you mean the video has zero live performance and they’re lip syncing? I thought the only fake footage were the closeups of Stevie- she’s lip syncing there, of course, but otherwise it was recorded live.

The entire concert is lip synced. All the close ups are like Red Rocks except its even worse because they are pretending to sing with the live track. Look how made up everyone is with perfect make up and even the way Christine is "singing." They are not playing in front of an audience. All the audience shots are edited in. For example you will never see them singing and the camera pans to the audience. Then all the concert footage is edited in like a video within a video. Even when the music is playing and there is "singing" there is a far away shot with Stevie with a red hat. She is not wearing a red hat during Isn't It Midnight. Lots of bands did this in the 80s. Its one slick music video that has live music in sound only. Now that you know, watch the link and it will all stand out like a sore thumb. The entire concert is live music but a video of glamour shots on stage with concert footage (not of them singing or performing) edited in.

Were we all this dumb in 1987?No, I knew it was fake ersatz sh|t the second I saw it, and I hated it. I was dying for a Stop Making Sense kind of quality from Fleetwood Mac in those days ... well, I was hoping in vain. The concerts they released were completely shoddy. More clodhopper than rockhopper, if ya get my drift.

I remember being embarrassed by the repeated (staged) footage throughout several songs, and the desperation I sensed coming from the band upon Lindsey’s departure. Or maybe that was really anxiousness and it was coming from me. It’s hard to see your favorite band crumble before your very eyes.
That said, that band’s soundboard or live-in-studio performance of Isn’t it Midnight rises above the sad spectacle.

I will rewatch it again soon. But just going by memory, I’m certain there were scenes during Stand Back, for example, where the camera is behind Stevie and you can see the audience, plus that whole choppily edited sequence where she ‘jams’ with Billy. And you think the intermission with Mick doing his body drum is fake, too? Maybe when I rewatch it I’ll see what you’re seeing, too.

Stand Back also does not contain any live singing. The footage you speak of shows Stevie on stage (live) with different hair than her close ups. So there is an audience in a few quick clips but its not synced with the audio track. It's edited in with everything else. The live shots edited in are from stage performances of Stand Back with her Stand Back costume. Those few live shots on Stand Back on stage are edited in too. Watch and you will see.

I watched it tonight, I can see a lot of what you’re saying. I don’t think as much of it is as fake as you do, but even if I’m wrong and it is all fake, that doesn’t bother me. I mean, I’ve been looking for the video footage of this incarnation of FM lip syncing to their Behind the Mask CD in Japan for years- that’s the closest I’ll ever see so many of those great songs performed “live.” Watching this video has always been disappointing for me because of the refilmed closeups of Stevie, the crazy out of order scenes and camera angles, and the annoying scenes of Mick walking down the hallway.
But what’s good is really good- Rick Vito is so good here. He’s just an awesome performer, and what he does on Isn’t It Midnight is incredible. I also love Billy here, his backing and harmonizing vocals are fantastic. Rick and Billy make this worth watching, but I still enjoy Christine and Stevie, especially on Stand Back, Little Lies, Everywhere, and Seven Wonders. Am I the only one who thinks Stevie looks better here when she’s rehearsing in Everywhere than she does when she’s all made up for the camera?

I wouldn't say she looks better. She's just real. She's a time capsule of 1987/1988 with her platinum blonde hair and her white washed denim.
Back to the video. The singing parts are fake but even the live footage parts are edited in even though they are from that song. It would have been nice to have had real live parts through the whole video. But in the late 80s everything was made for MTV and slick video production. I guess it was cool back then but today its so bad its laughable. I had the Fresno show on cassette and they sounded different from this video. I even wonder if they performed the songs in studio or on stage without and audience and then lip synced. The audio could be as touched as the visual. Remember that this band pretended to play to an audio track for the Clinton inauguration for Dont Stop.

Yes, that was discussed here several years ago when Christine leaked it in an interview. She was very casual about it like no big deal. The microphones were live so it was real singing but fake playing. They taped Stevie's tambourine so it would not make sounds and mess up the recorded track and be picked up by live microphones.
I remember how shocked I was about 20 years ago when I learned Sara was touched on the live album. Its so beautifully perfect and now we know why.

My favorite was always “I Loved Another Woman” probably because it was the most honest song on it. Also, I didn’t know the song, since the early stuff outside of Then Play On and the Chess album was impossible to find. I only vaguely knew who Peter Green was at that point

What's your least favorite song on the Tango DVD concert?
My answer is easy: Gold Dust Woman. The version from this era is my least favorite other than Stevie's 1989 version. Something about the 80s and Gold Dust Woman does not fit. Besides the music, Stevie's close ups are too annoying in her Debbie Gibson hat and long diamond "Golden Girls style" earrings and her long black gloves . But Stevie's ad libs during the song in her klonopin era are nails down a chalkboard for me. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Not again babe. Not again. No no no no no. Not again babe.
Seriously Stevie. NOT AGAIN (please).

You are a seven wonders freak
What is your take on Seven Wonders on this video. IMHO its the most obvious that the audio track is not taken from a concert and maybe studio recorded? In the end when she does her spoken ..."certain place.....certain time" It sounds too studio IMHO and cant imagine that soft speak live in a show. I had the Fresno show on cassette which was recorded for some radio special and the Seven Wonders on that show was so much better. This concert version runs slower than the real concert versions, no?
1. Isn't It Midnight
2. The Chain :sorry::p

I'm a fan of everything "bad" about production that's already been listed here, so I love this DVD in its entirety. :o

They are still my choices. I like Another Woman much more than Oh Well in that concert.
It's a shame they didn't include Black Magic Woman, we'll never know how it would have sounded, especially if Rick had sung it. According to Mick's book, John objected.
Rick Vito chimed the blues with touching fidelity on Peter's beautiful "I Loved Another Woman," and we revived "Rattlesnake Shake" to powerful effect. (We had discussed adding "Black Magic Woman," but John McVie vetoed this because he felt the song was too identified with Carlos Santana.)
It makes sense, besides Another Woman was a great choice. However, when I think that 2018 band included Don't Dream It's Over and Free Fallin' in its setlist, it makes me think that my feeling that that band was no longer Fleetwood Mac was correct.

Rick included it in his 1998 solo album Pink & Black. He named it I Loved Another Woman, like the original track in Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac album, contrary to the title in the Tango DVD, "Another Woman".
The 1990 Save Me CD single also uses the short name "Another Woman" (the same Tango audio). Does anyone know why the band didn't use the song's full name in the live version releases?

That's how Rick made it to the band. Mick was over Billy's house one night recording some stuff and Billy took Mick out to a club to see Rick's band. Rick played Peter Green songs. When Lindsey left Billy was the quick call but then Mick remembered Rick playing Mac tunes and he made the call for him to join.
Learning and knowing those Peter Green songs paid off big time.

What's your least favorite song on the Tango DVD concert?
I don't have a specific song, but I don't like the Lindsey parts sung by Billy. But I understand they wanted to play The Chain and Don't Stop. I think the fans wouldn't have forgiven them if they hadn't done it.
Well I do have a song. I do like Another Woman by Rick, a lot, but since Lindsey's version of Oh Well is so ingrained in my mind, I don't like Billy's live version. Yes I remember original Peter's, but I have heard Live album so many more times so that version is always the first that comes to my mind.
They played GYOW during the Post Rumours lineup years (including the Time concerts!). Wise decision they didn't include it in the DVD. Inevitable comparison.
