In a taped video from May, Stevie said she was working with Greg Kurstin.

What happened with Dave? Remember when she said I'll never work on a record without Dave. This is her second project with Greg rather than Dave.

Are you being real, mitzo? Cmon with that. If Mac was doing something, Campbell would produce and if needed, Neil would co-produce.

I'd say new Stevie album. She's got tour dates this summer fall so I'm guessing she'll want to play new stuff. I don't think Show Them the Way would work well in a festival setting unless it's significantly rocked up.

Ok, this guy is a really good producer. I didn't like the song Show Them The Way but I liked how it was produced. I hope he can reign her in and shorten her songs and make them more to the point. I don't want another Show Them The Way, but this producer did a good job. I also hope he puts a filter on her voice because of her age.

I was imagining her co-writing with this guy and doing demos for an FM album. But yeah, the most unlikely scenario of all for sure.

Maybe she wants him to rearrange and possibly produce her Rhiannon material, to give it a contemporary rock and roll sound. That would be fascinating to hear, in my opinion, and I’d really look forward to it. (All those songs can be done differently from lugubrious piano ballads.) She ought to hop on that if she ever wants it to see the light of day.

she has consistently griped about not having time for that project "so many things to do" and then the universe gives her a gift of a WHOLE FRIGGING YEAR where she couldn't tour if she wanted to, and if she wanted to record she'd have to do it at home... so why not use all that free time (remember the whole buying a trailer in Malibu and living alone by the sea??? Seems like her apartment overhanging the PCH with it's great sea views would work just as well). Instead she b*tched about being soooooooo bored during COVID and not being able to go out. Her writing days are DONE. She could have worked all sorts of sh^t for the Rhiannon project.. wasn't she talking like a Broadway show in recent years?? NADA. She even moaned in several interviews about being bored with her housemates... and snapping at them when they suggested it was a good time to record a bunch of stuff that to do that SHE was the one on the hook to write whatever material so they could record it and they just didn't realize how HARD it is to do..... Remember when she told us HERSELF what a "prolific" songwriter she was, songs just POURING out of her every night and day... Clearly that's dried up. COVID would have been a perfect time to work out a plan for Rhiannon. I'm betting if not now, never.

You may be wrong. Consider the fact that Show Them Way was a song she wrote a long time ago and she was really happy with the way he produced it. I think that she may want him to produce other songs from the past that she has written because she liked what he did with Show Them the Way.

Also, Kurstin has won Record and Album of the year before. He has also produced numerous hits and I think that this is the type of person Stevie would want for her Rhiannon project.

I don't know if I'd be excited about a Rhiannon movie, series, play or anything. The song was even not inspired on the actual welsh legend. She just found the name, beautiful, after reading a novel, not the legend (though the characters are the same, or so I read), and she wrote the song.

Anyway, what story would be that in the movie or series?? I guess it would be another try like taking to Broadway Queen's or Rod Stewart's songs. Though I admit I've not seen those, I believe the only truly success of that idea was Mamma Mia, and shouldn't have been copied.

Dave Stewart was all about sharing updates from 24 Karat recording but Kurstin may be a top secret guy.
I still think album. The handful of shows she's doing this year fits very well with the happenings of 2010... she did like 8 shows while recording IYD.

bombaysaffires

but this wouldn't be just any movie, it would be her movie... well, likely they'd built it out of Evangeline Walton's story which Stevie bought the rights to.

in may 2020 she was saying:

Stevie Nicks is hard at work amid the current coronavirus pandemic, working on both a book and a movie inspired by Fleetwood Mac's 1975 hit, "Rhiannon."

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Nicks, 71, revealed that working on the book and movie had already been her priority after Fleetwood Mac finished touring as part of their An Evening with Fleetwood Mac trek in late 2019.

"Last year, I made a pitch to everybody that when this Fleetwood Mac tour is over, I’m taking next year off because I want to work on my Rhiannon book/movie," she shared.

"And I want to maybe work with some different producers … I don’t know what I want to do! I just know that I don’t want a tour," she added.

Inspired by the book Triad by Mary Bartlet Leader about a woman named Branwen who is possessed by another woman named Rhiannon, the song was written by Nicks and originally recorded by Fleetwood Mac on their eponymous album in 1975.

RELATED: Stevie Nicks Tells Harry Styles Fine Line Is His Rumours in Statement About Coronavirus: 'Way to Go'

While speaking with the publication, Nicks also noted that she has "Rhiannon"-related poetry that she has been working on for decades that she hopes to record while in lockdown.

"I have some Rhiannon poetry that I have written over the last 30 years that I’ve kept very quiet," she shared.

"I’m thinking, 'Well here I have all this time and I have a recording setup.’ And I’m thinking I’m going to start doing some recording. I’m going to start putting some of these really beautiful poems to music, and I have the ability to record them. So that’s on my to-do list."

She added, "What all we have right now, if you’re home in quarantine, is time, unless you’re taking care of kids. So, really, you could do anything you wanted that you’ve been wanting to do your whole life. So that’s how I’m trying to look at it." (https://people.com/music/stevie-nicks-working-rhiannon-book-movie-amid-coronavirus/ )

And just 8 months ago she was talking about making it a tv series instead and picking who'd she want to cast:
LA TIMES Oct 1, 2020 "The moonlight confessions of Stevie Nicks"

When she wrote the song "Rhiannon" in 1973, she had little knowledge of the folklore behind the name. But five years later, a fan sent her four paperback novels in a Manila envelope — author Evangeline Walton's adaptation of the ancient British Mabinogion. Nicks was so transfixed by the literature that she eventually bought the rights to Walton's work in the hopes of bringing the epic to the big screen.

Because of the scope of the story, it was later decided that the movie should be a television miniseries, and earlier this year Nicks says she finally signed a deal with a studio to make it. She has 10 songs that she's never released, still on cassette tapes in a suitcase, set aside specifically for the project.

Despite her 2014 turn on "American Horror Story," Nicks has no plans to play a major role in the miniseries, though she's not opposed to the idea of "riding by on a white horse or something." She won't dish on her dream cast but says that Harry Styles "is definitely in the running."

Who's holding their breath?

You're right. Think of "Call on me for Magic." That song is a masterpiece we never would have known about had not one of our Ledgies been checking out that producers web page. And while we're on the subject of producers, Stevie once hired Glyn Johns to produce Street Angel for her. She ended up disliking everything he produced for her and I gotta tell you, I have heard those tracks and they are all fantastic. She trashed all of them and redid the record and was never satisfied with its outcome. You know how you guys love to repeat Stevie's, "Well you wouldn't say that to Bob Dylan" line? Well Ann Wilson has the same story to tell about Glyn Johns as well. She says, " he called Nancy a 'Hippie'." Some people can be overly sensitive.

Remember that Street Angel recording sessions with him began in 1992 at her peak klonopin addiction. I cant even imagine working with someone so aloof and drugged. For what he had to work with, IMHO Street Angel turned out fine. I love the country rock feel of the album (yet Homer claims to like country rock but hates this album is beyond me). I dont like how Stevie blames everyone but herself for the flop album. She says she wanted to redo the vocals on the album. The vocals are fine. She was in a major decline in her life from 1992-1994. Its a miracle an album was even put out.

Maybe he said: Can you bloody show up on time? Who do you think you are? I've been here waiting for 2 hours. And Yes, I've told Bob Dylan that several times so stick a cork in it.

Also remember Street Angel had other songs on it that Glyn insisted Stevie put on the album. In revenge, she removed them and put Docklands, Jane on Listen To The Rain. Some of the songs removed were written by Glyn's son which is probably why Stevie removed them. Unconditional Love was supposed to be the lead single and supposedly a video was shot. Stevie went on a rage and never even bothered to do a video for her first single in many years which hurt the single and album. The songs removed were God's Garden, Inspiration, and I Call You Missing. 2 songs that people make fun of are Docklands because of "laundromat" and Jane because of "chimpanzee." Both those songs were added after Glyn walked away. But this was not the first time a producer walked away in the middle of an album with Stevie.

With the Eagles, Glyn insisted on no drinking or drugs in the studio. Henley had no problem with it. Glenn had a problem with it, and he and Johns were "like oil and water".

Stevie had not one but 2 ace producers walk away in the middle of an album because of drugs.
When she fired Frontline and blamed them for making her go to rehab, things got worse. She had 2 albums in a row in chaos. Timespace was not properly promoted where she toured months before the album was released and never did any of the new songs on stage. The tour ended and finally the album was released and no one cared. MTV really did not even play Sometimes Its A Bitch. Then when she was off the short tour, she was interviewed by Rhonda UP ALL NIGHT where she stated she already missed the road. Then she did finally perform a new song on Arsenio (too late girl). The promotion was all screwed up. The album and single/video released and then you do your TV spots and hit the road to promote it. Then klonopin also made Street Angel an train wreck to get through. Lord help you what people had to go through during the first year.
Missed opportunities big time. During the summer of 1991, the country was celebrating the end of the Persian Gulf war. She could have dedicated Desert Angel to the troops from the stage and even released it as on official song and dedicated proceeds to the troops. Ooops, I forgot. It was not released till months later.

Despite her 2014 turn on "American Horror Story," Nicks has no plans to play a major role in the miniseries, though she's not opposed to the idea of "riding by on a white horse or something." She won't dish on her dream cast but says that Harry Styles "is definitely in the running."

Who's holding their breath?Oh, yes, oh my! Harry Styles as the prince and Vanessa Carlton as the princess — a TV dream team. The Rabe actress, too. And Chris Nicks, surely there is a part for him? Seriously, though, I’d like to see Vince Gilligan write and produce it, rather than the American Horror dude, who strikes me as second rate.

Desert Angel was an embarrassment. It was God awful and didn't belong on any album. Nobody bought the album for that song.

Come on now. She was born in the desert in a manger so she knows how it feels there. You may not care for the song. However, it was big news back in 1991 when Stevie wrote to the troops. Troops signed flags and sent them back to her. It was reported that she wrote a song. I surely was curious to hear it yet it was never released even as a tribute to the troops. Whether you like it or not is not the point. I was making the point how screwed up she was and her management was. By the time the album was released, the welcome home parades were over. Also how do you go on tour to promote and album and new songs and not perform at least one of the new songs.

Correct me if I am wrong but he never responded to her attacks? It shows what a bigger person he is. Good gosh can you imagine the stories he could tell and embarrass her.
Here is a little glimpse of what he had to deal with in early in the process. He thinks he brings her a hit song and slated for the first single. Can you sing this song Stevie? And this is how she sounded. Its really sad. I assume he knew he was over his head.

There is nothing wrong with calling a spade, a spade. But I think all this so-called "honesty" is nothing more than justification for just being mean. The thing that kills me with this site is if you hate her so bad, then why are you even here? I just don't get it. Isn't this suppose to be a site for people that really like Stevie and her work? Maybe, if she bothers you as much as you say she does, you can take your "honesty" and go somewhere else with it. Or even start your own site for people that hate Stevie Nicks. It wouldn't break my heart to not have to read all this negative BS all the time.

I think you're forgetting that Stevie wants the world to think that she was the good girl of rock and roll in the 70s...which is hilarious. She behaved no differently than other male or female rock stars of that era. She milks the drug addiction stories for dramatic interviews but sweeps everything else under the rug.

In recent years there has been this annoying exaggeration that because she wrote songs about her ex that it somehow automatically makes her a feminist.

Camille Paglia would say that Stevie’s sexual life, the numbers and the multiplicity, make Stevie a feminist icon. That I would buy. But Stevie has always had a streak of nutty puritanism in her: won’t take the blouse off, even when the shot doesn’t include boobs, but has two or three sexual relationships in the same short time frame (sometimes with married men), etc. She’s a puzzling contradiction. She’s a real star.

and of the 80s also. She did an interview about how on her solo tours she and the girls can't just go out to bars and whatnot because they would automatically be classified as in her words "loose, roaming women". As someone else pointed out, sleeping with at *least* 2 of the male members of the original band (I remain unshocked should something about John come to light), also road flings with later band members (Rick), shared crew members with her female band member (Curry, and whoever else), relationships with studio engineers, nearly all her producers, at least one of the heads of her record company, various solo band members, her rehab coach who was in a committed relationship (a great romance, still forbidden, still outrageous), at least 3 members of the Eagles, a one night stand on a whim with Dave...... so yeah, the Victorian blushing virgin routine is quite.....laughable.

Not to mention she said back in the Bella Donna promo days that her approach being around the Eagles was to be "very quiet and unassuming around them and trick them to death"... not very feminist a la Janis Joplin who owned her sexuality or Grace Slick for that matter

Listen, I don't care or judge her for her sex life. She behaved no differently than men in rock and roll.

I am calling out the hypocrisy of playing the innocent and/or gaslighting everyone about your behavior. Why even engage? Just make your personal life off limits. This is harder for her because she has built her reputation as a songwriter on mining her personal/romantic life. So why not just own it? She came of age in the free wheeling 60s and then into the 70s, so it wasn't like society wasn't already aware of women's sexuality. In many ways she's a product of the 50s when she was raised, and her parents' morals. She's not always as with the times as she would like to think. She's gotten more open about some stuff since her parents are gone.

But beyond her sex life, which again I don't care about, she very much catered to powerful men in her life and career, and played on her femininity and attractiveness and downplayed her ambitions to get men to help her or do things for her. This is NOT "feminist". Again, it's the hypocrisy I find annoying.
