Mick Fleetwood on viral video and whether Lindsey Buckingham will return
Mick Fleetwood thinks it’s “cool” that his band’s classic tune “Dreams” is climbing the charts again.
Last month, Nathan Apodaca posted a TikTok video of himself skateboarding and chugging cranberry juice while lip-syncing to the Fleetwood Mac 1977 hit “Dreams.” The clip has been viewed over 30 million times, resulting in Apodaca being gifted a cranberry-hued truck from Ocean Spray and the Stevie Nicks penned song gaining over 8 million on-demand streams last week.
Fleetwood, 73, even made his own TikTok copying Apodaca and the two met up via a Zoom chat.
The British-born musician is humble about the video’s success chalking it up to a “moment of connectivity” that “just resonated.”
“It was a reach out with a smile,” he told Page Six from his home in Hawaii. “Here I am and here we go. It’s so what we need right now. And how cool is that?”
“It was sort of a huge accident. This is hugely gratifying and it’s fantastic,” he said.
Fleetwood Mac are as famous for their songs that defined the ’70s as much as their internecine squabbling, which has led to members leaving and returning.
The most recent was in 2018 when guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was fired.
Fleetwood, who says he spoke to Buckingham recently, “has no idea” if Buckingham will ever return.
He explained in a not very clear or succinct way: “I think the reality is without going into huge detail, one of the things I always say is that the disconnect happened and there were emotions that were somewhat not removable and there are personal things within the band and Lindsey’s world.
“All I can say is really openly is that Lindsey Buckingham and the work he has done with the band is never going to go away and we have a functioning band with the changes that we made. You know time heals and it was lovely to be able to talk with him.”
Fleetwood said the two spoke by phone after Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green passed away age 73 in July.
“Lindsey said, ‘I know you’re really sad and of course, I was.’ And that’s what reconnected me and Lindsey. We had the greatest talk. It was like we’d just spoken five minutes ago.”
The drummer is looking forward to a post-COVID time where he can perform again and “there has to be a positive outcome of stories to be told by all of us.”

Mick is just keeping his options open in case bankruptcy looms again and may need Lindsey.
Mick is just keeping his options open in case bankruptcy looms again and may need Lindsey.
yep!
and here's another article now. while i know Lindsey wants a peace with people who have been his family for the huge part of his life, and must be happy that they finally reconnected, i hope he NEVER goes back for anything like a full reunion tour. he wasted way too much time on FM, and he should keep working on all the stuff he's been doing the last 2 years. he's finally getting some nice street cred, and getting his name out there on his own. 1-2 Classics style shows sure, but a tour? nope. plus they are all getting ancient.
Mick finally answered Lindsey's call, after not answering them for 2.5 years. Stevie may or may not have sent him ridiculous note, not apologizing for what she did to him.
calling that being in touch is stretching it. but it does show what a decent human Lindsey Buckingham is.

Fleetwood Mac reconnect with Lindsey Buckingham
Fleetwood Mac stars Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks have reconnected with axed bandmate Lindsey Buckingham.
The Go Your Own Way star was ousted from the group in 2018, after which time the star claimed only to have heard from former bandmate Christine McVie.
While the group continued with Crowded House’s Neil Finn and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers star Mike Campbell, both Stevie and Mick have recently confirmed they’ve been in touch with the hitmaker.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Stevie, who recently released new single Show Them The Way, revealed she contacted her ex after he suffered a heart attack last year.
“[I said], ‘You better take care of yourself’,” she recalled. “‘You better take it easy and you better do everything they tell you and get your voice back and feel the grace that you have made it through this.'”
The former lovers fell out over comments Buckingham made at Stevie’s expense when Fleetwood Mac were honoured as the MusiCares Person of the Year in 2018, and he was asked to leave the group.
Following her gesture, drummer Mick also spoke with his former pal, telling Page Six the pair chatted following the death of Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green in July.
“Lindsey said, ‘I know you’re really sad and of course, I was’,” he shared. “And that’s what reconnected me and Lindsey. We had the greatest talk. It was like we’d just spoken five minutes ago.”
Touching on whether there’s a possibility of Lindsey rejoining the group, he added: “I think the reality is without going into huge detail, one of the things I always say is that the disconnect happened and there were emotions that were somewhat not removable and there are personal things within the band and Lindsey’s world.
“All I can say is really openly is that Lindsey Buckingham and the work he has done with the band is never going to go away and we have a functioning band with the changes that we made. You know time heals and it was lovely to be able to talk with him.”
Fleetwood Mac haven’t released new music since their 2013 Extended Play collection. Stevie, meanwhile, is hitting cinemas with her 24 Karat Gold: The Concert movie, which is out later this month – followed by an accompanying live album.
Someone else who lives in his own world.
Haha, he is funny. But he doesn’t know.
However, I think Lindsey dictated that answer as to whether Lindsey will ever rejoin FMac......

lmao you obviously haven't paid attention to any of Mick's answers on Lindsey ousting in the last 2.5 years. they are all non-sensical like this. because there's no sense to the whole thing.

Let's face it....the reason Mick is vague is that the entire conflict rests on Stevie. It was between those two, it was brought forth by her, fueled by her when clearly attempts were made to resolve the drama.
Stevie = money, Mick is not going to go out on a limb and put Stevie on the spot by saying "it's up to her if things are ever made right again"
They spent 3 years tip toeing around Stevie during the making of Buckingham McVie, expect it to continue as the embers of this fire continue to cool off.
WTF...it's 1996 all over again.

and that is why Lindsey should never accept to go back again. because it will just be more bs and tiptoeing and time wasting.
but yes, that's why Mick is going in circles saying nothing - because there is no rhyme or rationale to what happened, just some stupid whim and decades old resentment between Stevie and Lindsey for owing each other their careers and her not being able to shake that off.

I wonder who called who? The article makes it sound like Lindsey has been calling Mick everyday and Mick finally answered. Doubt that happened. Let's not forget the lawsuit that Lindsey won. Hopefully Lindsey will never go back if for no other reason that they are all too old. The fact that Lindsey still hasn't released his album that has been finished for years is disconcerting unless he is planning on slow down to retire. No doubt that the firing and heart attack had a big psychological affect on him.
The only reason we're hearing about this now is Stevie has a project to promote and Mick is exploiting the recent viral video either for attention or money or both.

Lindsey should never go back. Again.
They treated him like a dog. F*ck them.
I wonder who called who? The article makes it sound like Lindsey has been calling .
no, article doesn't say that - Mick is intentionally vague in the article.
what we do know is that Lindsey was trying repeatedly to get in touch with the bandmates in 2018. he probably mostly gave up after that, and was probably in touch on and off with John and Christine since.
and then he obviously called Mick after Peter died, to check whether he's doing ok. as a decent and caring human that Lindsey is, loving his wayward douche-baggy band family despite everything. and that time, unlike all those calls and emails in 2018, Mick answered.

yes to all of this.
if he goes back to any kind of longer touring and talk about album making that will never happen with the other 4, he's a complete idiot undermining his own legacy.
in 20 years since The Dance reunion, they only put out 1 album and 1 EP. he tried and tried and hoped and waited.... and finally when he managed to push out Buckingham McVie, that was the straw that broke SN's vanity. 1 album in 20 years is a waste.

I don't see Lindsey returning to Fleetwood Mac because he'd have to become part of their partnership which I think would mean he gets a share of the pot of gold.
I think Neil and Mike were salaried for the 2018 and 2019 tour, maybe they gave some golden carrots in the contract to Neil and Mike like a cut of merch, concessions, and sponsorship. But then another contract comes with the next tour.
I don't think Stevie would want Lindsey to return to getting the same share as hers. I think mitzo will come in to support this statement:laugh:

If the stars align, that lineup will reunite again for one last go-around. Lindsey is all about the legacy, Mick is all about the money and Stevie is all about looking good in the eyes of the press and the fans. A lot of fans turned on her and she even alerted to the fact that pretty much blindsided her.
And lets face it, Mick has been in this position before. He knows as nice of people Neil and Mike are, and no matter how good they are at their craft, they are essentially Billy and Rick 2.0. They were temporary shoe fillers and nothing more. If he wants a dump truck full of cash, it has to the Rumours line-up.
And with Lindsey, I think hes over the drama. He more than likely just wants to end on a high and call it a day, seal up the legecy of the band once and for all.

Fleetwood Mac legacy was sealed long time ago. they are that band with 3 completely different songwriters who wrote some incredible songs and sang some incredible harmonies, while all interchangeably breaking up and sleeping with each and fighting and loving and hating each other while doing mountains of drugs... and keep selling bazillion copies of that Rumours album where each song is a hit.
and then they milked all that into oblivion by doing greatest hits reunion tours forever-more. how would yet another reunion tour change anything in that legacy?

Before Christine came back, supposedly the split was:
$tevie - 40%
Lindsey - 30%
John - 15%
Mick - 15%
Even with Christine, I doubt it was an even split, even among the singers. $tevie is too powerful and.... witchy(damn "b" is broken on my phone).
And come with a truckload full of Lindsey HATE.

What an inexcusable louse Mick has become.
This part of the article sums up his personality:
He explained in a not very clear or succinct way: “I think the reality is without going into huge detail, one of the things I always say is that the disconnect happened and there were emotions that were somewhat not removable and there are personal things within the band and Lindsey’s world.
“All I can say is really openly is that Lindsey Buckingham and the work he has done with the band is never going to go away and we have a functioning band with the changes that we made. You know time heals and it was lovely to be able to talk with him.”
The reason this is so torturously unclear is because Mick has been using double speak for decades now. He can't or won't say what he really wants to say and instead says what he feels he needs to say in order keep the cash coming. Caught between his heart (and a shred of decency?) and his overwhelming greed, he comes off like an incoherent coward. You can't have it both ways, Mick. Either entirely disavow Lindsey to please Stevie, which would also mean owning your decision to fire Lindsey, OR own your decision and openly apologize to Lindsey.

What does Mick mean by personal things in the band and Lindsey's world?
Yeah, I'm wondering about that part too. It's like there's some sort of friction between the rest of the band (or more like Stevie) and Lindsey's family. I mean, they're his world. We all know things between Lindsey and Stevie are not ok, but Mick mentioned his world, not just Lindsey.
The events during the night of Musicares are being confirmed.

They are now a viral trending, Billboard Top 40 charting band again. Mick would be insane if he isn't sitting on his little island with dollar signs in his eyes thinking, "Stevie hates backlash and her solo career has slowed, Lindsey and I are on speaking terms, he is readying a solo album, Chris and John are still around... perhaps we politely retire this era and usher in a grand farewell tour. That'll bring in lots of money. Album. Live show. Tons of press. Tons and tons of money."
It's like the lead up from '92 to '97 all over again. I can see it clear as day. As much as I would hate to gag my way through the song and dance lovefest show again, the general public will eat it up - as will the new generation that have found them.
All thats left is the revelation that someone is working in a studio with Lindsey on something.

This shows what kind of person Lindsey is. He really cares about these people. Why I don't know. They are back stabbing, self -serving, lying and cowardly people. They threw Lindsey under the bus. John says nothing even though the band bears his name. Christine didn't back Lindsey even though she wanted too. Don't get me started on Mick and Stevie, who orchestrated this whole thing. And now Stevie is so sad and Mick is glad that he and Lindsey are friends again. Puke emoji! Lindsey should never go back. Except for one concert where he makes a big pile of money for retirement. Use them like he was used. I can't believe this is what has become of this band that I have loved since 1975.

SAY YOU WILL was an anomaly in that pattern. You could see that Lindsey was committed to trying to push additional creativity forward. Stevie warily joined and then, apparently, was traumatized because Lindsey urged her not to shift voice in “Throw Down.” There were probably 3000 other irritations and microagressions between them.
Since then, Lindsey tried to corral everyone to make an album, and Christine’s return made this seem VERY possible, but Stevie refused....She’s Bob Dylan, damnit, so don’t tell her what to do with her words.

Indeed.
2020 was a wash for touring etc. 2021 remains to be seen.
She's got her 24k film coming out, which won't likely be playing in theaters, and if it is, won't do huge business to start with and then with covid even less.
Her song won't make a dent, but I think right now she's more about "staying relevant" and putting something out.
The Rhiannon project I will believe when I see it. I and others have been hearing about this project since the 1970s. To put it in a different perspective, imagine if we were sitting here and it was 1920 (instead of 2020) and we were saying "She's been talking about that project since the 1870s".
TWENTY years back in our current century, and then another THIRTY years back into the previous century.
I admit I would see it, whatever it is, but....someone else better be the engine behind getting it done or else ....
I think she defines her "youthful" years as the years she can still put on the extensions/a wig and make up and not look like Bette Davis in her final years. Vanity is a thing with her and she wants to be remembered for how she LOOKED not how she LOOKS if you get what I mean.
Does anyone think even *she* can weather another Mac tour?? I don't. If the money was right however you know she'd do it. Didn't they all, including Mick, say that this last tour would be their last major tour??
I hope LB doesn't go back....but, I could see all 5 caving for something recorded. Either a live in a studio thing like The Dance, or a big show at an arena that gets filmed as the capstone. I'm getting the vibe from LB that somehow he's not entirely shut off the such an idea.....:distress:

I think too much blood has already fallen into the river. And frankly I got tired of the "lovingest/fightingest band" soap opera. Plus, their voices are not good anymore. And what for? To read and get upset about what Stevie said, to criticize Mick and his hunger for money? I'm not interested at all.
Nowadays I just enjoy again the old material but I'm not interested in waiting or expecting a new impossible album, or waiting for the 5 to agree being together at the studio, which could happen in 2054.

Now THAT would be impressive! They'd ALL be past the 100 mark and surely that would set some sort of record... assuming the Stones haven't found a miracle preservative before then.
It occurs to me that a number of artists have done or tried to do the hologram thing where you can "see" them performing long after they're dead. One can only imagine that each of their heirs would have to come to an agreement and would probably carry the grudges of their family member... so we could have intra-band squabbling going on forever!

Mick is starting to milk the BIG 5 machine. I may be wrong, but history has taught me well.
Indeed. Stevie recently admitting to reaching out to Lindsey after his heart attack, and seeing vitriolic posts online about her firing Lindsey were the opening salvo. This is Stevie showing vulnerability, which she just doesn’t do. When Stevie doesn’t want to be on the record regarding a specific topic, she makes damn sure her interviewers don’t bring it up. Her starting to discuss Lindsey and the true nature of his firing etc is absolutely deliberate.
Mick saw the door was cracked, so he nudged it open a little further. He’s trying to walk the line yet be noncommittal for fear of Stevie’s wrath, but he’s nudging the line all the same.
While I think there is zero hope for another Mac studio album, I think the possibility of some sort of farewell reunion is crossing all their minds. Stevie, Mick, and Lindsey all have this need to be loved by the fans and press. They are all in legacy mode, too. They may not want to all be together, but they understand they pretty much have to undo all of this crap. At this point it would make for a monumental happily ever after... or if left to stand would tarnish their 50 year careers and future legacies. They know what they’ve gotta do. And it’s clear to me these processes are most certainly being set into motion behind the scenes.

here's the deal - back in 1997 Stevie's career was in the toilet. she needed the Mac to pull her out and make her career viable again. now? she's on her legendary top. she is using huge draws like Harry Styles to stay relevant. and, by throwing out Lindsey and diminishing Christine, she's created illusion that she is the only frontwoman / singer /songwriter of Fleetwood Mac. that FM equals her. what she and many of her fans always dreamed of. so why would she want Lindsey back and diminish all that? similarly, solo she's on the top as she keeps reminding everyone at every turn. she's a legend.
Yeah but Stevie is the stopper. She is working on a solo album and I doubt she is going to give it up for Fleetwood Mac. She has no time left. Plus she has to fit that Rhiannon project in.
exactly. she only talked about Lindsey because she wants to "wash herself clean" of all the crap that she all of the sudden realized is still sticking to her for what she did to him and for breaking up the band.
since she talked about Lindsey, Mick figured he can too. because he did her bidding and won't let her come out smelling like a dying flower she calls herself and put it all on him. so while she allegedly all of the sudden put together some completely offending note to Lindsey after reading all the hate thrown her way, Mick one-upped her describing the actual conversation he had when Lindsey called him after Peter died. Mick is keeping all his options open. his restaurant is letting go majority of the staff. he will probably go bankrupt again any day now.
now before we go too far down the vortex of reunion, i want to remind everyone that many people here thought that when ousting Lindsey was going on in the background, people here were having delusions about us not hearing anything because FM was secretly working on an album.
Lindsey was interviewed month after Peter's death on that zoom call. so after he presumably talked to Mick. he didn't have much to say about Stevie (he said one credit he had to give her is that she was always going for commercial success and unlike him she clearly saw that's only achievable by them moving to LA). but he was only talking about his solo plans, and timeline for the album and the tour. and how appreciative he is of the lucky life he has and his family in these crazy lockdown times. no talk about any band reunions.
I think LB wants back. He is not done with them like some of his fans are. It’s disheartening to me. I liked the guy from 1987. I liked it when he was more wanted than wanting.
i feel the same as you. i know he wants the reconciliation on a private level and i am ecstatic for him that seems to be happening - somewhat.
but Fleetwood Mac events? one-off like the dance was? sure. tours or anything time consuming? please no.
please Lindsey no. you are flushing your own legacy down the toilet if you do that. and you were just starting to get your name more known. and some street cred that participating on The Killers / Caution gave you. don't throw it all away.
Back for what :shrug:One last big cash grab "farewell" tour with the Rumours five. To do another Fleetwood Mac album when we know that Stevie won't participate even though she wants to make another solo album and just put out a dud new song? It would be a disappointment if he did want to rejoin this unsavory bunch.
yup.
there will be no Mac album. definitely not with Lindsey. and another cash grab tour would diminish, not build their legacy. unless Stevie actually exits Fleetwood Mac. which she has no need doing. the other 3 would be more than happy to work and push an album out with Lindsey then. but it should be under FM name, not like last time.
now, again, one-off event or two? sure.

Also...we already know how Stevie handles people coming back into the band. Christine finally returns to the band after 18 years and you could definitely smell the resentment from Stevie. All the talk was about Christine and THEN all the talk about Christine and Lindsey’s album. She completely snubbed a new Fleetwood Mac record that involved Christine. That speaks for itself.
If Lindsey were to return, all the press would be all about his return in light of the 2018 drama. It would just create even more resentment.
There’s no good moves left for Lindsey as long as she is in the band. None of the tours are worth the sh*t storm they kick up.
Good for Lindsey if he can patch it up with Christine, Mick etc but at this point his best option is to bow out of Fleetwood Mac events. Make another album with Christine and walk away from the Mac.

I forgot about Mick's restaurant! You're right, tourism to Hawaii was totally shut down for several months and is still really limited because a lot of people won't fly. I bet he applied for some of that gov't sustenance money but that's done and Trump says he won't offer another round of it, so yeah, if Mick doesn't want to lay people off he or his partners would have to lay out their own cash.
In addition to Harry, Miley Cyrus has been touting Stevie the last couple months, she based some lines in her latest song on the chorus melody of Edge of 17 and (unlike Stevie herself) she contacted Stevie to tell her she borrowed from her song and to get Stevie's ok to keep it in as a tribute to her influence on Miley's work. She reports getting a letter from Stevie saying "you can borrow from me any time". We've only heard about it thru Miley, interesting to see if Stevie ever mentions it. Everyone has commented on the similarity to Edge of 17 and done mash up videos of the two.

Speaking of band members talking to each other (or not), this from Stevie:
Speaking of friends Stevie Nicks have been in touch with — don’t count the members of Fleetwood Mac. “I haven’t talked to anybody in Fleetwood Mac. I haven’t even talked to Mick. I’m really, really good friends with Mick,” she said. “Not only did I not call them, but they didn’t call me either. It seems like everybody is very much existing in their own bubble. It’s like there are people that I really need to call that are important to me that I have not called.”
Fleetwood Mac wrapped a yearlong tour in December, just months before the pandemic hit.
“Whenever I feel really guilty, then I say to myself, ‘Well they haven’t called you either.’ That’s your excuse out. Soon as somebody calls you, then you have to call them back,” Nicks continued. “It’s society of pandemic. We’re all going to be so excited when it’s over that we’re all going to be over-friendly and calling people all the time and people are going to be like, ‘Back off. Stop.’ I think that hopefully we’re all going to get through this and please God will show us the way and we’ll be OK.”
She also says she's been watching lots of old medieval movies in prep for the Rhiannon tv series that started getting planned back in Jan/Feb.

So much for that “group email” she mentioned after the tour wrapped up. Everyone was buddy buddy!
According to Mike Campbell he sent some song ideas over to her and she never called him back either...
You have to wonder if....as the dust settled following that last tour if they all had a chance to think “wow, that was really effing stupid”

The thing is, Lindsey would not see it as a betrayal of his own legacy. I suspect that he still believes he needs the big machine to distribute the small machine creations to the most people. We live in a DIY world and I am sure that Lindsey’s children know it, but I don’t think he does. He doesn’t know he can get exposure without FM. Even if he was beginning to catch on to this before, the pandemic has changed that. It has limited his options, because he cannot tour like he wanted.
Now, I realize that the success of the cranberry juice fellow should tell Lindsey that anybody can get millions of ears, under the right circumstances. They don’t need a big name band. He doesn’t need one and should just be happy to still have artistry to share, no matter how small his audience. I think he learned this overtime, but mortality may have caused him to go backwards.
If he did reunite, it would not be to abandon his new material. It would be to help it, the surest way he thinks he knows how.

I guess I see this a bit differently from the majority here. Lindsey was so clearly hurt when he was removed from the band. Go back to the lyrics of On With the Show. He saw this band as his and their surviving legacy and his sense of community, even if the community was not always unified. That was all taken away from him in a phone call from Irving Azoff and everyone in his community stopped talking to him. The hurt and pain from that forced separation and subsequent isolation is real, its deep, and depressive.
Further, for the prior 21 years he was the band's driving force and frankly why it came back to life and then thrived during its revenue making heyday, post Stevie's temporary career crater, Mick's bankruptcy(s), Christine's departure. The Dance does not happen. Say You Will and its 130 date tour does not happen. 2009, 2013, 2014-2015 tours don't happen and the band becomes so irrelevant, there is no chance the financially successful revamped 2018-2019 tour takes place. In his mind, Fleetwood Mac had become his band and I am sure he at times became overbearing and controlling, but he was also essentially given the power. As Stevie, famously said, Fleetwood Mac is a democracy, we all get a vote, except Lindsey, he get's two. They empowered him, he became the big (well really skinny) daddy. Then the family left him.
He had a heart attack, he had open heart surgery, his children are getting older. The youngest will graduate high school in 2022. In my opinion he sees his mortality and he may prioritize his need to reconnect with his estranged band family and he needs to be part of the final incarnation of Fleetwood Mac for his posterity, legacy and peaceful closure.

Stevie's round of interviews continues with one in The Guardian here in the UK - not much sign here of any rapprochement:
'Has she spoken to Buckingham since he left? “No.” Do you really think you’ll never appear on stage with him again? “Probably never.” Really? “Uh-uh,” she says, indicating a firm no.
She says people always ask the band: “‘Do you get along?’ We’d go: ‘Not really.’ They’d say: ‘Are you friends?’ and we’d go: ‘Not really.’ ‘Do you see each other when you’re not on tour?’ ‘Er, no.’ It has been like that since 1976.”'

Wow her comments are just so...ugly. Now she's talking for the entire band claiming none of them are friends and essentially, never have been since 1976.
It's a sure stab at Mick and Christine.
From the article:

It's a far, far, far cry from Lindsey's email, asking to resolve the issues and closing it with "I love you all"
This makes me so sad. There's nothing worse than a bitter old woman or man. She's filling that role beautifully.

It's interesting she talks about her abortion. I was thinking lately about her never having children even though she said she wanted them as far back as the Rolling Stone Rumours interview. She said she was so busy with her career. that it was impossible. Sorry, I don't buy that. Madonna had children, J-Lo, Brittany Spears. I could go on and on. I believe it was her lifestyle of drugs and partying that kept her from having kids. She couldn't stop cocaine long enough or stop pills or drinking long enough. And yes, she is famous, but not in the same vein as Madonna or others. It was the drugs that took a lot away from her. She could have done so many more albums with and without Fleetwood Mac. And now, I see a lonely woman, who lives in the past, only wanting to tour. Not interested in doing anything new. I doubt we see the Rhiannon project.

Once again an example of Stevie's selective memory / spin.
Sometimes that's how SHE'D answer, especially if she was mad at Lindsey (and moreso after she became a bona fide solo success and wasn't as dependent on him).
On the other hand, SHE was the one who insisted on pandering to the shippers and choreographing all sorts of bull-doody hand-holding onstage AND during publicity interviews for several of the tours before Chris came back, the longing gazes onstage, dropping those tantalizing "you never know" sorts of answers in interviews, "Lindsey and I will always love each other on some level" "We get to re-live our romance onstage" "I was the girl who loved him for all the right reasons" "One day when one of us dies the other one will be sitting on a bed alone" blah blah blah
MANY of us knew for years and years that she was spouting nonsense meant to sell tickets. But her spin worked and many thought there was still something between them. So for her to act like "We TOLD everyone for years that we were not close so why are you all surprised now" is a bs attempt at gaslighting.
And besides LB, what about all the "Mick and I are so close" "Mick and I hang out and watch movies together" "Mick and I get together in Maui" "Mick is one of my closest friends" "Mick and I will be besties forever"
Maybe she's finally old enough to finally drop the mask and reveal the truth, that she was only ever in it for the money and the fame and "I'll never be the one to break up this band" well....she finally decided she's ok with that after all.

I agree. It's true stars are always very busy. But that doesn't make "impossible" to have children. Anyway, if something positive can be obtained from there, it's that it was a wise decision not to have children while being an addict.
And I don't buy Mick's "We had the greatest talk. It was like we’d just spoken five minutes ago". Yeah, sure. After the demand and that Buckingham claimed that he lost an estimated $12 million in upcoming tour ???

Agreed. It kind of makes me wonder what happened. After the 2018 tour wrapped up was there talk about making new music and Stevie had issues with that AGAIN? Hence, what appears to be some ice between her and the rest of the band?
What happened between the email where everyone was keeping in touch to mid pandemic and nobody is talking.

I totally buy they had the greatest talk and I would suspect subsequent talks since.
New age Lindsey is much more forgiving and wanting. Mick having not talked to Stevie since December, is sensing that Lindsey is his path forward post pandemic, and despite what many want to believe, in my uneducated opinion, I think Mick and Lindsey have a pull to each other, and Lindsey has a soft spot for Mick. Tango 1985-1987, Solo sessions in 1996, The Dance in 1997, Say You Will 2001-2004, FM into Buckingham McVie 2012-2017. He always becomes drawn to Mick. I am quite sure Lindsey pays Mick for those studio sessions for anything other than Fleetwood Mac branded outcomes.
Mick sees at the very least a viable Fleetwood Mac with Lindsey and Christine fronting it, knowing that Lindsey will want the FIVE together again, and it will be Lindsey who will show up at Stevie's door, heart in hand.
As I wrote earlier, Lindsey feels pain and for him relieving the pain, is at the very least being the last band leader of Fleetwood Mac and at most the one who brought the FIVE to the FRONT one last time.

I agree it must have been a shock to his system. He realized since they wouldn't make new music that they didn't need him any longer in the studio. Even if they did agree to make another album, Stevie probably wouldn't want him to play the producing role that he had in the past.
But it seemed that they would still need him on stage. I certainly thought so. I felt he was such a powerhouse, so energetic still. Mick would comment on how he never left the floor. I couldn't envision their show without him. I felt that Stevie has been miffed that he upstaged her ever since the SYW tour, but on the other hand, I thought she liked the fact that she had a lot of time backstage and could change her clothes, sip some tea and then return and dazzle her fans without straining herself too much physically. It gave her so much more money and exposure than her solo shows, but for less work. That's why I thought the live shows still gave him leverage. With Christine's return, I didn't think that would suggest to Mick and Stevie that they could tour with two songwriters. I could not have foreseen that she would kick him out and I guess Lindsey didn't either. He didn't know that he was expendable.

I had long felt that Mick and Lindsey genuinely loved each other and I still think that Lindsey cares for Mick. Even after leaving the band, Lindsey attended Mick's wedding. He had a soft spot for him. Mick may have been high, but he was in the studio with Lindsey all day and all night long. He made Tusk possible. I thought they were rooted together. I didn't think Mick would do what he did. Now, I just don't credit Mick with any feeling any longer.
For Lindsey, I believe the sentiment is still there.
Paul McCartney once described how he just kind of lightly rubbed George Harrison's wrist at the end. And that always got to me. I thought, you know, I thought maybe Mick and Lindsey had something like that.

.
during 2018 tour meet and greets, Lindsey would tell us that "Mick is weak" and that he also thinks Mick is "too embarrassed" to talk to him after succumbing to Stevie's pressure to break up the band.
so yes, Lindsey still probably cares for Mick.

But at least she's not claiming that her and Christine are like sisters any longer.
Michele
Christine probably asked to stop doing that.

I've been saying all along, the source of the problem is $$$tarry Nicks.
$he used her pull to Trump Mick, McVies and Mgmt. She played her ace. And $he used it to rip the band into what $he wanted it to be.
Blame Mick, Christine, John if you want. But, $he tied their hands. Many Millions of dollars that many many people count on were held in this so called "star's" hands. And she let her overblown ego, her soulless personality, and her long brewing vengeance make a move that ruined the legacy of the Rumours 5.
.........but yet she still uses it to gain relevance.:(

Mick sees at the very least a viable Fleetwood Mac with Lindsey and Christine fronting it,
well said.
and then you went off to the imaginary land:
I knowing that Lindsey will want the FIVE together again, and it will be Lindsey who will show up at Stevie's door, heart in hand.
As I wrote earlier, Lindsey feels pain and for him relieving the pain, is at the very least being the last band leader of Fleetwood Mac and at most the one who brought the FIVE to the FRONT one last time.
no Lindsey will not show up at Stevie's door. she would have to come begging. and she won't because she has it all now as far as career goes, and she doesn't need the other 4.
The youngest will graduate high school in 2022. .
perfectly observed and described.
I In my opinion he sees his mortality and he may prioritize his need to reconnect with his estranged band family and he needs to be part of the final incarnation of Fleetwood Mac for his posterity, legacy and peaceful closure.
don't think so. he might see FM as a closure, but he's completely aware of toxicity between Stevie and himself. love/hate has become pretty much open hate now. she's not even trying to conceal anymore all the jealousy and hate she feels - it comes out so completely obvious to any unbiased reader in her latest interview. also, she is finally openly saying what he's been telling people for the last 8 years - no, they don't like each other, they are not friends, and no, they never talk unless they have to on stage or for recording.
In your subsequent post, you quote me with 100% accuracy, so I assume in the prior post the quote function may have played games with post. So I apologize if that is the case. Best always - John
no problem, apology accepted.
I did exact same thing with both your posts - because i so completely agree with the huge parts of both your posts so i wanted to make sure that's quoted.
i'll make sure never to agree with you again lol. :xoxo:

My two cents:
This is all academic.
Whenever worldwide (or even just American) touring resumes–and for the record I think it will be quite some time–it won't be as before. There will be distancing requirements that mean a lot less profit (if any) in the kind of large-scale tours the band used to do. It will be many a year before tours of that scale go on as they did pre-COVID.
So there is no pot of gold in the offing.
If anything, that may mean some reconciliation can occur because the greed that contributed to the severing of ties won't be there to impede the mending of fences.

I don't think she sees any of those people as Fleetwood Mac, not Mike and I think she sees Sharon and Lori as hers more than FM's.
She answers the reporter's question about whether the band members have been in touch, and she says she hasn't contacted them and they haven't contacted her.
Then she says that there are a lot of people who are important to her that she hasn't contacted but should. That's where I was putting Mike, Sharon, Lori, etc.

but wait, there's more!
Now suddenly, it wasnt just Stevie that wrote a letter to Lindsey, it was the entire band!
