'Spiritual warrior' Stevie Nicks urges fans to wear face masks
bangshowbiz.com
Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks is calling on her fans to make it their "mission" to fight Covid-19 and stay safe by wearing face masks.Stevie Nicks has urged her fans to wear face masks and "change into spiritual warriors" in the fight against Covid-19.
The Fleetwood Mac legend has shared a diary entry dated July 17, in which she details how, amid the coronavirus pandemic, she has found her own "magical place" where she feels "safe" and she is encouraging everyone to join her in making it their "mission to do all that you can to stop the virus".
She wrote: "Feeling slightly euphoric and inspired to be alive and still be able to feel young and safe here."Right here in this moment, I feel hope. I feel happy. I feel safe. Tomorrow when I wake in the afternoon, the news will negate all the goodness until tomorrow night, late when I come back to this place where everything is possible."She continued: "If everyone could just wear a mask and stay in as much as possible -- you might be able to find this magical place I have found, in the early morning when everyone sleeps. And when you wake up, make it your mission to do all that you can to stop the virus before someone you know falls really ill. Because then, you will be too late. Your life will be forever changed."
The 72-year-old singer is desperate to be able to return to the stage to perform again. However, she insisted that if people don't unite and go to war with the deadly virus, the world will never be the same again. She added: "In order for us all to get back to our former lives -- we must all change into spiritual warriors."We must make it our mission to fight the virus; otherwise there is nothing left. If we don't get ahead of this now, we will live with such guilt and regret that that it will destroy us. You can't go back. You can't push rewind."I want to go back on the road. I want to sing for you again. I want to put on those high black suede platform boots and dance for you again. I want you to forget the world and sing with me."Please don't throw this world away."Please don't give up on humanity and let this virus win this war. It's up to us now -- because nobody is helping us. Nobody is coming to our rescue. No one."
The emotional note comes after the 'Go Your Own Way' hitmaker admitted she regrets never getting to share a stage with late Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green. The musician recently passed away at the age of 73, and Stevie - who joined the band in 1975, after Peter had already left - paid a glowing tribute to him.She said in a statement posted on her Twitter account: "I am sorry to hear about the passing of Peter Green. My biggest regret is that I never got to share the stage with him. I always hoped in my heart of hearts that that would happen."When I first listened to all the Fleetwood Mac records, I was very taken with his guitar playing. It was one of the reasons I was excited to join the band."His legacy will live on forever in the history books of Rock n Roll. It was in the beginning, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and I thank you, Peter Green, for that. You changed our lives. (sic)"

How nice. Always great to hear from Stevie. I even like the Stevieisms, like "slightly euphoric." (I am passionately noncommittal about Stevieisms. I find them extravagantly nondescript.)
Applying a little explication de texte here, I think even her rambly syntax and word choice betray something deeper and darker - about herself. This seems like classic projection in a clinical sense, but what does it mean? A 72-year-old with a lifelong little-girl outlook on the world is not surprisingly having intimations of her own mortality, but I think these references to guilt and regret and being "destroyed" indicate something really, really deep and dark. They aren't just arbitrary diaryspeak. She is a fascinating person and a transcendent, generous artist, and yet Stevie is unsettled in her castle. She is not at peace, I think.
"If we don't get ahead of this now, we will live with such guilt and regret that it will destroy us."
That isn't an Old Testament, prophet-from-the-hills moment. Stevie is talking about herself.

Yeah and she can recycle lyrics from Angel, Street Angel, Sleeping Angel, Touched By An Angel, Desert Angel, Soldier's Angel, and throw in the chorus from Cheaper Than Free for the heck of it.

David, are you suggesting she is merely expressing her deep fear of death, or that perhaps she has regret for what she has done re: Lindsey and the band??

I saw John Oliver talking about his wife. She was a medic in the war. She enlisted on September 12, 2001. And he says that he told her he was doing stand up in Philadelphia and that it was a war zone and she asked him to rephrase that because she was sure even though it might’ve been a tough comedy crowd in Philly that it was not really a war zone compared to Fallujah. This made me laugh and think about Stevie‘s comparisons.

No matter what she says, it will be interpreted as something to make fun of on here.

Stevie Nicks Fears She Will Not Sing Again after Contracting COVID-19 – Why Does She Think So?
August 14, 2020 | by Olowokandi Fiyin
Veteran singer Stevie Nicks gives a stern warning to her fans and urges them to take COVID-19 seriously as she fears that she might not be able to sing again if she contracts the virus.
Stevie Nicks has a stern message for her fans and followers who refuse to take the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic seriously. The singer who has been advocating for people to wear their masks and keep safe took to Facebook yesterday to issue another warning.
In the lengthy post, the “Landslide” crooner referenced the current statistics of deaths in the United States as an indicator that the virus is wreaking havoc even though many treat it with levity.
Describing the novel coronavirus as a “silent killer hiding in the shadows,” Nicks begged her fans who refused to wear masks to do better and not consider it to be a political statement.
It is no surprise that [Stevie Nicks] has significant concerns about the virus as she reportedly battled the flu last spring.
She further explained that the virus was no respecter of status or age and that those who have contracted it still grapple with its after-effects, before offering a grim reality about how the diseases my affect her. She wrote:
“If I get it, I will probably never sing again. Put me on a ventilator, and I will be hoarse for the rest of my life~ I don’t have much time… I am 72 years old….”
Nicks made sure to call out people who were gathering at beaches, bars, and parties before likening the world’s current situation to the season of “American Horror Story” she appeared in.
In conclusion, the 72-year-old highlighted the repercussions the virus could have on the music community and senior community members, begging people to “never put your family members who are older and more fragile in danger.”
It is no surprise that the singer has significant concerns about the virus as she reportedly battled the flu last spring. Nicks’ fears about her health are valid as CDC reports that sore throat, congestion, difficulty breathing are some of the symptoms experienced when COVID-19 is contracted.
It will be recalled that “The Chain” singer became a music sensation back in 1975 when she signed with Fleetwood Mac.
Her grandfather Aaron Nicks, a renowned country singer, was the one who bought her first guitar and taught her how to play famous country songs.
She was part of the band, “Challenging Times” and collaborated with Lindsey Buckingham before joining Fleetwood Mac. Alongside being in a group, Nicks has a thriving solo career.

It saddens me to read how scared Stevie is. My oldest sister is a couple of years younger than Stevie and she shares the same terrible fear. Like Stevie, my sister has not left her home. Her son does all the grocery shopping for her. I work as a janitor and after 2 and a half months of living in fear I decided to go back to work the first week of June. It was like falling off the horse and getting right back on even tho you are scared. I'm so glad I made the decision to return to my regular routine. I'm still cautious but I'm no longer terrified. Staying home and hiding away from the world will keep u terrified. Stevie has always said when she writes songs, she tries to give a feeling of hope in each tune. I'd like to read in the next journal entry she offers us, some semblance of hope for her fans. There is help coming our way. The Russians claim to have a vaccine already and others have said they are in phase 3 of vaccine trials. With so many scientists working around the clock for a vaccine, I truly believe one will be discovered and I look forward to that day. I also wish everyone would go back to work. If one person at your job gets covid, then everyone connected can go home for 2 weeks. The moral of my story is hope.

Stevie's communication style certainly has a dramatic flair, but overall, taking this virus *too* seriously is not the problem we've had here in the US.

I support the quarantine, but I am sad for the people who are ending their lives locked up and isolated. My mother is 83 and she’s in a different state. Maybe I will move her out here next year. I don’t worry about her getting it, but I do worry about how being cut off from friends and family has affected her emotionally.
Amid all the despair, some things have changed for the better. I think of Stevie’s Edge walk. She wore gloves as she touched the fevered fans, but then she would go over to Sharon and Lori and rub the Ebola-infested gloves all over them. Even when she was held by the waist for safety, the Edge walk was never a good idea. Nor was it a good idea for Libdsey to throw sweaty towels into the audience, even if fans asked. I am glad that is over.
Oh you guys that stand at concerts, you will get your comeuppance. Even when live shows return, they aren’t going to let you crowd the stage anymore. They aren’t going to let you push and flail. You are going to have to keep your seats now. I will be in heaven. Justice will reign.

Early into this, I posted something on FB about people being lonely. "Friends" that live in house with OTHER PEOPLE would say, "Oh, just get over it". There's a huge difference in being quarantined in solitude, and doing the same in a house with several other people. For people who live alone, and no longer have their "social hours" with others, this can be a prison.
Even when/if we get a vaccine, you don't think we'll be able to crowd stages again, or have Stevie rub her virus encrusted gloves all over her girls?

I think there will be a residue of caution even when we get the vaccine, because we’ll be aware that another unforeseeable virus can attack again, even if we get this one under control. For us, this is new, but other countries had it really bad with SARS. Now we know that we are not
invulnerable.

I agree that for a while we'll be cautious, as well we should be.
I wonder what how things played out after the Spanish Flu subsided? Months of caution? Years? Of course it was a different time, not being bombarded with news 24/7...

June 23rd, when my roses were almost touching Christine's toes! (stage was at least 5 feet high, and I was pushing them as far as I could, yet they were still a couple inches from touching her toes)
The album was released 14 days before that, and I listened to NOTHING but that for those 14 days. I know how much more enjoyable a concert is when you know all the songs, so I had 14 days to learn them!

Sucks that happened. I actually saw the exact thing happen during her 1984 solo concert. There was this guy at the far end of the stage that had a giant white box of red roses with a giant bow, etc. She was saying goodnight and even the small crowd was trying to get her attention to see the guy at the far end of the stage. She never saw him. However, some stage guy saw this and took the box and went back stage. So we can assume she got them.

Yes and she can finally complete the animated feature "Goldfish and Ladybug" said to be the Dr. Zhivago of cartoons as well as the Rhiannon film once slated to be directed by" The Man Who Fell to Earth 's" Nicolas Roeg and the biography that she was going to have written for her by 35 years ago deceased wingnut author Taylor Caldwell! So much to look forward to!:blob1::blob1:

Well, and she never seemed to notice mine! And she walked off stage without them. Now, mind you, Imma stubborn ass...her assistant came out to get her personal things off her keyboards when the show was over, and I had a short conference with her..."my lifetime favorite musician, blah, blah, blah....", and she took them and said she would give them to her. Now, I'll never know if she did. Well, I HAVE to believe that she did give them to her....
Although my number was in the card, and Christine never called....:distress:

I know someone that lost their sense of smell from Covid. It was her only symptom. One night her daughter asked her mom to smell this new perfume. Her mom could not smell it and went to a doctor and got a covid test. She was positive. She had no fever or any symptoms except she lost her sense of smell.
It eventually did come back though.

It took about 10 days not to have a fever for 3 days. I had every symptom except the cough, which I am now reading makes some people more prone to long lasting symptoms. I do feel fine now, but still cannot freaking smell. It's been 8 weeks and it's getting severely depressing. Life just isn't as enjoyable when you can't taste and smell properly. I'm so sorry secondhandchain. This year has been brutal. I hope your sense of smell and taste come back for you soon!! But I am glad that you recovered, and don't have organ damage (except for your nose and tongue) or debilitating side effects like blood clots, kidney damage, etc. This is one nasty virus for some, it's just a crap shoot as to how it affects you. At least until we understand it better.
I also believe that we may not be able to get a full vaccine, but possibly one that lessons the symptoms. Or an antiviral treatment that works on those that get the virus.
