Because if it weren't for him, she wouldn't be in FM and may have never had a solo career. WHY WOULDN'T SHE THANK HIM is the question? You know the answer. She's become a shell of her old self. I'd normally agree with this but I can see why Lindsey, and anyone else from Fleetwood Mac for that matter, wouldn't be on the very long thank list that she has for her solo career. In the grand scheme of things she owes a lot to her association with him but as far as him DIRECTLY affecting her solo career? She always went on about he was discouraging of it in the early years with dismissive comments (Stop Draggin’ My Career Around was his name for her first hit) and how the whole band did not acknowledge Bella Donna when she returned for Mirage. He didn't have any part of her solo career at all until Twisted, after she had already had FIVE solo albums in the can and her most successful days were over.
Not saying it was right to not thank him, I would have since he was the entire reason she was out in the music world with Buckingham Nicks, but I don't see how its necessary in this context. She wouldn't have thanked Mick, John, and Christine either for the same reasons: they put her in the position to ascertain a solo career but had no part or encouragement of building it. Those songs were her songs, those relationships with Iovine and the Heartbreakers were built by her alone, and (in her view) she ended up being a successful solo artist in SPITE of Fleetwood Mac, not necessarily because of it.
If anything it might be in worse taste if she DID thank him. I can't imagine how great it would sound if she acknowledged his immense impact on her AFTER getting him booted from the band.
I'm back and forth on the issue, and agree that she owes a lot of what she became to Lindsey Buckingham, but the solo career isn't really part of that.

I agree, it wasn’t necessary to “thank” Fleetwood Mac. The group was mentioned in the context of the role that they played in her solo career. It was a great speech in typical Stevie style. She looked and sounded good and I’m happy for her.

On MSN there's a really nice article about her induction, along with pictures and videos. It mentions Harry Styles in the headline. I was wanting to read about other inductees as well but the article only mentioned her. Her induction and performances appear to be a highlight of the ceremony... maybe because of Harry being the one who inducted her and performed with her?
I have to say, Harry Styles gave a great speech and his performance on SDMHA was fantastic. That blue suit was killer, too.

How do you know that? "What if" scenarios work in every way. With her looks, drive and talent, she would have made it anyway, Lindsey, Fleetwood Mac or not. She has all the qualities a true star needs, she would have been even more successful without the band/the ex-boyfriend. This thesis is actually more plausible than yours. Because, comparing the solo-career success, the charting of the FM singles and the current tour of FM - it rather seems like Stevie "made" Lindsey and not the other way around.
Also, I don't see why she would thank any member of FM for the sucess of her solo career. FM were introduced to the Hall of Fame, so that is all fully covered imho.

There is a great overview of the entire ceremony at www.ew.com and it's definitely worth reading. Sounds like a great night for rock and roll because the inductees were very worthy.
One thing I found interesting and disappointing was that the jam at the end featured almost none of the actual inductees. How awesome it would have been to see Stevie Nicks, Janet Jackson, Bryan Ferry and the others perform together.

The thing that's tickling me of late is how many people are slagging Stevie off...oh she's this, she's that, she's the other, she's evil blah blah blah. WHAAAATTTEEEVVVEERRR. Fleetwood Mac, all of them, have always been a bunch of Drama Llama's. The Lindsey firing is just the latest in a long history of fall out's and backstabbing and bitching and drama. I don't know why anybody expected any different from them!!
Personally, I'm not really interested in their fallings out. Or what Stevie may or may not have done to get rid of Lindsey. None of us know her, none us know how she or Lindsey or the rest of the band were really feeling about anything.
At the end of the day....I still love Stevie's music. From Buckingham Nicks, to Fleetwood Mac, to solo - I love all of it. I love her lyrics, I love her voice. And I have done for as long as I can remember. Whatever fallings out she may have with anybody will never change that. And her induction into RRHOF is well deserved for her contribution to music. It has nothing to do with her personal or professional relationships, it's about her musical output.
"She doesn't deserve to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 'cause of what she did to poor poor poor innocent Lindsey". Actually, she deserves to be there because of her music. End of.

As disappointed as I am with the FM drama, she did sound FANTASTIC. She has not done the high note in Stand Back (except once when she made a mistake) since 2011. I thought she was going to trip over her shawl. It actually amazes me because her solo band sounds 10x better than FM. That performance left me craving a solo tour.
Also did Harry Styles name drop "Ooh My Love" in his speech. So random and awesome.

It boggles my mind. I have said sooo many times that she was the one I loved the most for decades. I would always see FM and then always see her solo tours. I adored her and was a complete Stevie fan.
For some reason, I keep being told that I'm not suppose to dislike her now. Well, I like to think that it's because I have morals, and don't think treating other people, the way Stevie does, is cool. It's just wrong. She is not who I'd want my kids to look up to, so there is no way in hell I'm going to look up to her. Her behaviour is selfish, cruel, stupid and uncaring. That speech made me cringe.
So for the bullies who think we're suppose to get over it, and leave poor Stevie alone......nope, not gonna happen. Esp on a FM chat site. Sheesh.

Not liking Stevie is one thing. Viciously trashing everything about her virtually daily for over a year is another, it indicates something deeper than just some feelings about a band member and her actions. The idea that some of the haters here used to love her is even scarier - you are THAT emotional about Stevie Nicks??
Even with events happening with real people in my real life, I cannot work up that much hate.
I am glad she made the RRHOF and that FM is a going concern.

AMEN. The intensity of baseless rage here is truly mind-blowing. None of us (or least most of us) have never met these people, much less know the actual ins and outs of their business and their relationships. If Stevie were kicked out, I'd be upset, but you know, that's life. In any event, this is a thread about the RRHOF induction. The fact that more than half of the related posts are completely off topic speaks volumes about the small but vocal minority here.

But why should the latest Fleetwood Mac drama take away from her musical output and her back catalogue?
Sure, what she's done is a massive d!ck move, but if you're that emotionally connected to Stevie as a person to not be able to differentiate between a sh!tty thing that she's done and how great her music is and continue to enjoy songs and albums that you've done for years, then you've got bigger problems than anybody in Fleetwood Mac.
And like I said, there's always been drama and scandal associated with Fleetwood Mac, even before anybody had ever heard of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham - this is nothing new and just the latest in a history of nonsense.

It's not about being emotionally connected, it's recognizing when somebody is not being a good person and choosing to not support that anymore.

But nothing any one could do will ever take away my love for her music, especially the stuff with FMac.
I don’t despise her, I don’t know her.

I thought her speech was meh. I think Jimmy should have inducted her as a solo artist.Harry is . . . insubstantial. Although he gave it an earnest try and he obviously adores Stevie. But she goes back to the Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane years. She really merited a heavier hitter. So did Fleetwood Mac in 1998, for that matter. Sheryl Crow grew in stature later, but at that point she was fairly lightweight (and young).
You can tell how inapposite Harry was for Stevie's induction by reading his fans' tweets about the event. They are gushing and drooling all over him and his blue suit and his long hair, and many of them are like "Stevie who?"

"Sometimes I get catty."
yes, very curious for a woman who wants us to believe she was always all about empowering women blah blah blah.
She's always been about her ego and needing to be the one and only woman in the room getting all the men's attention. She used to brag that being "Stevie Nicks" she could get any man she wanted.
Now that that's no longer the case, she spins it that she "isn't interested" in having a relationship. Maybe true, but maybe not and now it's more out of her control.... possibly feeding the need for ongoing big success in her career.... It's one thing to no longer be a femme fatale, but to be a former "it" girl AND no longer drawing an audience would be way too much for her ego to handle.
Listen, good for her, I was a MASSIVE fan of her for decades, still have some attachment to her older music, but being older myself and being able to see more clearly her issues, I am fine to leave her to the side. Thing is, she's always been like this, we just hadn't seen it so brazenly before and we're all more mature adults and less the infatuated teenagers who gushed over her back in the day. Time moves on. This is apparent in her performances as well.

https://www.vogue.com/article/2019-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-induction-ceremony
Every show deserves to begin the way the 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony did: with Stevie Nicks belting “Stand Back” to an audience who was just as enthralled by her performance today as they were when the single first came out. “This is the original ‘Stand Back’ cape from 1983,” Nicks said, which isn’t particularly surprising given her recent comments about the temperature-controlled vault she keeps for her shawl collection.
Nicks was at the peak of her witchy Wiccan powers at the ceremony, which unfolded Friday night at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center ahead of its televised debut on April 27 on HBO. She was one of the seven inductees, including Radiohead, Def Leppard, The Cure, Roxy Music, The Zombies, and Janet Jackson (or Miss Jackson, if ya nasty).
While the ceremony made sure to give each of the inductees their lion’s share of attention, it was definitely Nicks who made the splashiest appearance of the evening. And it’s understandable why, given that she made history as the first woman to ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame for the second time (having previously been inducted as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998).
After performing “Leather and Lace” with her original duet partner Don Henley, Nicks introduced another special guest: Harry Styles. There to induct Stevie, he gave a loving tribute that was simple in execution, but deeply felt by the audience. “She is more than a role model—she’s a beacon to all of us. Whenever you hear her voice, life gets a little bit better. When she sings, the world is hers and it is yours. She is everything you’ve ever wanted in a lady, in a lover, in a friend. Stephanie Nicks, I love you. We all do. And that is true, Stevie.”
Nicks’s own speech was the sort of delightfully deranged wonder that only someone as beloved as her could get away with. Equally heartfelt and hilarious, Nicks essentially delivered a stand-up routine that one eagle-eyed Twitter user pointed out went over each inductee’s allotted six minutes. But given the hoots and hollers coming from the crowd, and how much fun Nicks was obviously having, one can assume that the Hall of Fame isn’t too upset.
“You all have been a fantastic, fantastic audience. . . . Thank you!” Nicks said. “If you ever need a keynote speaker, somebody to talk to, someone to talk to a group of people—I am your girl.”
Concluding with a duet of “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” that saw Styles standing in for Tom Petty.

Yeah...well it's all pretty well documented and public knowledge. There's one reason why there wasn't a new album with the 5 fireflies and one reason why one of the last remaining bands of a defining era are no longer complete....all over a rehash tour dispute that will be completely forgotten about in 5 years time. It would still be a rehash tour with Lindsey included, so spare me that line. My point is the whole thing was a giant display of greed fueled childish behavior. It was completely unnecessary, they should of hung it up for a year or for good. I'm not trying to rehash what we have all discussed a million times, I'm just saying that all the hopes of putting a nice bow on this little gift we called fleetwood Mac was abruptly smashed in the last remaining years of their productivity. That is why people are upset.
Had there been more substance or cause behind the drama, people may not have had the same type of reaction.
Looking at it objectively, that induction speech is an eye opener for me. Even had the events of the past year not taken place, I would of taken pause after witnessing that "speech"...and I'd say the same thing If Lindsey got up there and did the same. I'm sincerely not trying to be mean, but that was rather an incoherent mess and I cannot defend her on that.

You people have to stop assuming that because someone posts angrily here they are somehow eaten up inside. A post takes a minute. You can easily post in between job duties or golf course holes. What you see here is not representative of anyone's existence. Posts are not indicative of whether someone has a life or needs mental help.
Even if someone is a nut job, it's none of your business. Stop analyzing other posters. If you want to diagnose the band members go right ahead, but stop telling other posters what is wrong with them. If you are tired of them, block them.

I 100% agree that personal attacks on this board directed towards other Ledgies is inappropriate. And as much as I'm team Stevie (even while cringing at the thought of using that term), I very much respect the views of those who are frustrated or angered by how things have played out recently with the band. And I appreciate and respect those Lindsey fans who have chimed in with a measured voice of reason as to the seemingly endless invective directed towards Stevie.
But more to the point, what frustrates me is that, whenever I go to a thread with a designated focus (like this one), the same members repeatedly post non-responsive, hysterical expressions of rage towards Stevie. If they want to start a thread on how Stevie is the devil incarnate, go for it. But it detracts from the Ledge for it to infect each and every thread on all boards, and frankly, I'm sick of it.

Except, you kind of do.
People have their motives and baggage. Sometimes understanding that in its utmost basic form might help understand someone motives behind their comments.
For instance, “Lindsey choked harder as a solo artist than he choked Carol Ann”’ might be offensive to survivors of domestic violence. Just like someone might not want to be associated with the domestic violence they’ve suffered. But what do I know?

Hey, I was out 2006-14, too. I didn’t come around here to bash Fleetwood Mac, aside from laughing at the suggestion any of them were prolific, mainly because I have a good friend who releases more albums in a year than any of the Macsters release in a decade. That said, I never came around here to mock Stevie.
If you don’t care anymore, great! Now go away.
Cant miss me? Why would anyone miss me or why would I expect anyone to miss me? I dont expect anyone here to care if I came or went! My comment about leaving the buding was not meant as "this place sucks im out of here" it was strictly a figurative way of saying Im not the fan I once was.
Great. Stevie’s fans don’t care.

Except that’s EXACTLY what’s going on. All day, EVERY day on here as far as Fleetwood Mac and Stevie fans are concerned. Sorry you choose not to see it that way.
Who is analyzing you Steve or telling you to get psychiatric help or to go get a life?

I am wondering how far someone can go with crazed rhetoric before another poster can call him/her out. Seems no matter what anyone does or says, they cannot be criticized?? They can disrupt and repeat the same delusional infective over and over and nobody can point out that they are nuts?
Crazed rhetoric about an entertainer and public figure does not justify crazed rhetoric about a poster.

Not me, personally. But I have seen it. Lord knows I got banned for it.

wow. you've outdone yourself on this one.
well, that post of yours speaks for itself.
I get singled out for "mocking" Stevie? I said once she rambled on like an idiot. Never once have I used the terrible terms that other folks use on a daily basis.
wow. all this talk about rage. your post makes a great example man. You must be a knee deeper in this in a way that I dont understand. One thing is for sure, I definitely dont tell people to "go away" because I dont agree or dislike what they say.
Im sarcastic, I dont mince words, but im not out to be mean or cruel to anyone for the record. I dont know where your hostility comes from.
have a great day.

LOL oh yea he really messed up by avoiding two stints in rehab and "wasting" his 40s in a drug induced haze. If anything his leave actually helped him.
And yet you probably won’t get it.

so now you're cross posting my post from one forum to another?
LOL I wish you well. The more I try to diffuse this situation, you put another log on the fire. I dont want to fight with anyone. I dont think ive ever even used the term chiffonhead or buckaroo to anyone on this forum yet other folks are jumping at the first chance to throw it at me. Whatever.
To each their own.

LOL if this is your way of saying im a basher...I said nothing stevie herself hasnt said about that situation. she lost almost a decade where she could of made more albums or better albums. Im relatively sure she even used the term "wasted".
Again, that was intended to be delivered with sarcasm not malice.

Blimey...a few innocuous words of advice/support for a fellow human being is such a bad thing :(

Crazed rhetoric about an entertainer and public figure does not justify crazed rhetoric about a poster.
Keep telling yourself that.
I know some (not me, personally) see a parallel between their own struggles with that of some members of the band. Mental illness, addiction, suicide…
When those issues of the various band members’ pasts from decades ago are continually brought up, marginalized, mocked, and ridiculed, there are a lot of people who internalize that with their own struggles.
Sorry you can’t see that.

Sooo she can act like a smirking idiot at an award show but he can’t? #formerchiffonhead. She has been embarrassing for at least 15 years.

What's your point? I wrote those rules. I know what they contain. Thinking someone is a troll is no reason to tell them they need psychological help, as I said.

There's a little button you can click at the top right of each post and report them, which sends a notification to myself and the other mods. It's very helpful for us because we don't/can't see every single post, though we do try. I'm usually at work when I get to check the Ledge, and so I have to quick-glance as much as I can. However I also don't want to over-moderate either, so yeah, sometimes I miss things. Maybe we all miss a few things... but you guys can help us out and I encourage you to do so.
