people were apparently in front of the venue last night handing out local Lindsey Buckingham show flyers

That’s a didja.
I mean, I guess it’s cool, so long as it’s respectful. Some/most people just want a fun night out listening to music they like and don’t really care about what went down.

How sweet! I am sure it did not sway a single ticket holder to not attend after all. But cute thought! Maybe they’ll attend a solo show anyway.

I have no problem with people handing out flyers about Lindsey's solo tour at a FM concert, as long as that's all that's on them, and nothing nasty. But would people get upset if someone was passing out flyers about FM's tour at a Lindsey concert? In both cases, it's kind of like, what's the point?

I would love it!! Can you imagine people being pissed for standing by LB and handing out FMAC flyers!!:laugh::laugh::laugh:
I would respect that!! Understand it, maybe not so much. But, it's still funny.

I wish this was not posted because it makes me very sad :(
Lindsey has sold only around 26 tickets in Miami. Apparently this was an option to get people to notice Lindsey's solo tour. But unfortunately the mass that go to Mac concerts are more of a Stevie cult. If she was not on the stage 90% of them would not be there.

Oh wow. That’s sad. Although, Miami is kind of a fickle market.
Apparently this was an option to get people to notice Lindsey's solo tour.
That’s great, but is that the appropriate way to go about it?

Really? 90%? I thought most people went mostly because they liked the music.

How viable is a tour when nobody buys tickets? He probably should just quit.

No I disagree. He loves small venues and loves performing. However Mac fans do not support Lindsey nor Christine on solo tours. Yes 90% of the "fans." Christine had a hit album and sung most of the Mac hits and in 1984 I saw her concert only attract 200 people at the most. Last year Christine and Lindsey could not even fill small theaters in most of the cities. The masses flock to Stevie. Lets be real. If Stevie was not in the band but Lindsey was, they would be playing small theaters. I don't understand it but is just reality :(

From what I saw his show in Miami has sold about halfway. It's roughly a 2K seat venue, one of the largest he's playing, and he's sold roughly 1K. Which still isn't that great but I'm not sure where you got the number 26 from. There's no way they would have added a show there if they had even remotely projected it would sell that poorly.

yeah Miami show is really weird, been watching it for weeks now. almost every other show practically sold out within days, but Miami is like non-existent. can't figure out what is it about that show, or venue or date?
i think advertising LB solo shows at FM tour shows is a cool spontaneous grassroots way of doing it - why not? i'm on twitter and i see people saying how Lindsey live is spectacular and that theyd go see him in a sec if he was touring again - and they are stunned when i link them to the tour dates - they had no clue. so why not tell FM audience which is by default so obviously overlapping with LB audience that he's gonna be in their town?
i realize it's not very useful for all those venues that are practically sold out, or when his shows are before FM, but when the situation is like it was in Tulsa? why not!

Yeah all balogna. LB has three shows in three days in central/south Florida. He’s selling just fine. His second show of tour has only 4 tickets remaining, his first concert has about 20. He’s doing fine.
haha and talking about #hatersgonnahate - just looked through the rest of the messages in this thread. don't y'all have some fakewood tour to enjoy and be "positive" about?
regardless of your wishes, Lindsey's solo tour has been selling out really quickly in most places this time around. way quicker than his previous tours in similar venues.

He past actions contributed to his being fired. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it did not come into play. Otherwise this would not have happened.

They could have and should have fired her at past points, but they didn’t.
They should have fired Lindsey in 1980 after Australia but didn’t. They did this year though.
Of COURSE Stevie has something to do with it. But so does Lindsey and how he treated her and others and his overall behavior/attitude for 40+ years. That is clear. It all came to a head this year, obviously. But I doubt this would have happened if he had been a sweet, innocent man who got along with everyone the last 40+ years. He played a part too.

Lindsey isn't perfect but I hate it when people bring up his pas behavior and seem to ignore her behavior. Facebook is brutal for that. Stevie is the only one who has held up the band on records and tours. I have always maintained any of the bad behavior by all was largely due to the drugs fame etc. I have never excused anyone's behavior but I think Stevie has allot to answer for since 2009. Lindsey wanted new music and she has stalled and made excuses etc.
The current tour set list is decent but again another tour playing allot of songs they have played countless times before and no NEW album. I know a new album won't sell allot of copies but at least it would show they are not just a GH jukebox.
What kills me though is that some people are still claiming Lindsey kept them from playing their older stuff which such BS. FM is a group and I don't believe for ONE second that Lindsey has that much power to demand that they ignore the pre 75 material. Even if he did what is the excuse for all the non FM songs performed from 87-now vs actually doing some rare cuts. They should have never played Stand Back , Go Insane etc at a FM show. FM has a rich history of music and they should ONLY be playing FM music.
I am glad people are handing out flyers. As long as they do it peacefully and respectfully I have no problem with it.

I don’t like the notion that we have to pick sides, the “go to this, not that” mentality, the “#istandwith…” tribalism.
I’m very excited to be seeing both. I stand with the music I have loved for over 30 years, and this particular move offers up more music, not less.

What kills me though is that some people are still claiming Lindsey kept them from playing their older stuff which such BS I doubt it's true, too. At the very least, it's reductive. Since he joined, he made clear to the band (and the public) that he didn't feel an affinity for the Bob Welch material. But he's never had anything but praise for the Peter Green material. He told Jim Ladd in 1981 that he loved playing Oh Well, and he played that one in every set from 1975 to 1982. As we all know, too, he did Green Manalishi for several years.
If you listen to him speak in interviews and get to know him musically, you can see that he isn't just flatly rejecting Fleetwood Mac's catalog 1967 to 1974. His thing has always been to give his own music priority, or the music of artists that mean a great deal to him personally (like Farmer's Daughter and Brian Wilson). The band decides as a group what to play onstage. These are group decisions based on expediency or what will work best for a particular set. (Example: keeping Gold Dust Woman out of the 1980 and 1982 sets.) It simply isn't true that one guy, the guitarist, flat-out refused to put anything old into the set for thirty years. Everyone plays a part. (Why didn't Stevie sing Silver Springs in 1987 or 1990?)

That’s one of the most covered songs around, though. It’s scope goes well beyond just Fleetwood Mac. And, you’d have to be an idiot to be in Fleetwood Mac and talk down Peter Green. That said, Lindsey listed Peter as an influence on his lead playing in a 1993 Guitar World, and said he and Dashut would listen to Then Play On back before he was in the band.

Which leads me to believe that the setlist may have been at least a factor in the recent split. Lindsey said that some of the others lost their perspective over their 43 year legacy, but it’s now abundantly clear that they were wanting to explore the 50 year legacy, warts and all. I could never imagine a scenario where Lindsey would approve of doing a song from “Time.”

Which leads me to believe that this majority rules is just a bunch of BS. Lindsey was "fired" by majority rule. But majority rules couldn't put pre-75 songs in the set list?! Which is it?! Lindsey decides which songs to do on his own? If Mick and Stevie wanted to do those songs by majority rule then, they very well could have then and there!! I'm getting sick of all the crap this band is spewing of late.

What you’re saying doesn’t discount this scenario:
LB: I want a new album.
SN: Absolutely not!
MF: We want to do stuff throughout the entire spectrum of the band’s history.
LB: Absolutely not! I won’t play those songs, except, maybe, “Oh Well.”
MF: We want to play a couple of Peter Green songs, as well as a Danny Kirwan song and a Bob Welch song. We’d even like to maybe do a song from “Time…”
SN: And a tribute to Tom.
LB: I’m not doing anything like that. Just our songs. This is our legacy!
MF: But, Lindsey, this is a band, and the rest of us want to…
LB: No. We’ll do our typical set and I’ll do a concurrent tour for a new solo album.
MF: Okay, but we still want to…
LB: Not happening.

It’s also possible that the setlist has nothing/ little to do with the firing and that decisions to do a bunch of pre-BN songs, a song from Time, and TP song were made after the firing in light of the new configuration.

Are you thinking at all about the set list yet? Will it be very different than the last tour?
Yeah. I was in Italy recently and met Stevie out there. Actually, she was in Capri and I was close to there. She said to me, “Let’s sit down and really listen to some stuff that sort of almost got forgotten.” So I know she’s already thinking she wants to do some things we haven’t done in years. I always think that Stevie and Lindsey should do a Buckingham Nicks song in the set. And have Christine should do a blues song. I hope it certainly won’t be the same show as we did before. We always played nearly three hours, and we cut it back a little bit for the wear and tear, but we do over two hours. And when you got three singers, which is, like, three bands, really, to get that perfect set, it’s a trip.

I'd like to know if there was ever an ultimatum given to Lindsey. Do this tour not concurrent with yours and we want to do the pre-75 songs or else you're out. What would you have done if you were Lindsey? Say no?! This is a joke!

No one ever has enough money. He had to lose being a member of FM and making millions touring with them. Same reason Mike and Neil joined. You know, flying on private planes and all that fun stuff rich people can do. Playing your songs to lots of people in places like the LA Forum. Really?!

No one ever has enough money. He had to lose being a member of FM and making millions touring with them. Same reason Mike and Neil joined. You know, flying on private planes and all that fun stuff rich people can do. Playing your songs to lots of people in places like the LA Forum. Really?!
So, then, the only reason Lindsey was in the band at this point was to fly in private jets and play the forum. Got it.

No that would be Mike and Neil, not necessarily Lindsey. Lindsey wanted to be creative and make FM more than a cash cow grab. Lindsey likes money. We all like money. :woohoo:

No that would be Mike and Neil,
Neil just released two albums in the last year with no expectation of it leading to anything beyond what his fans would appreciate, which he was completely happy with. Mike has been rightfully mourning the loss of his best friend and bandmate of 50 years. Both have had storied careers. Neither needed this gig. Neil has said that he is under the impression that there will be new music. Maybe he’ll be right.
not necessarily Lindsey. Lindsey wanted to be creative
Then why all the faux outrage? He’s now able to be as creative as he wants to be, which I find exciting.

Steve, as much as I love you as fellow FM fan, and as much as you pay attention, you don't. Mike and Neil have said so themselves they were chomping at the bit at joining FM. Those were their words, not mine. The money, the glory, the living high on the hog. All of that were their words, not mine. If creativity follows, then so be it. I don't think that's high on their priority list though.

Because he deserved better. He deserved that pot of gold after contributing so much time and effort into developing the songs and sound of FM. A lot of the ones they are playing in concert today. Making that money on what Lindsey was chiefly responsible for. You know the Rumours 5 sound. I agree though, at least he is free to be creative as he wants to be. Even though it is the twilight hour, I wish him all the best. He so deserves it!!!!!!!

I totally agree. He deserved better and frankly I can't figure out why so many fans are supporting the band knowing full well what went down. Mick and SN did him dirty and for no good reason. The lied and in Mick's case continues to do so.
I also find it so insulting how people think anyone can replace Lindsey but not SN. He is irreplaceable. Mike and Neil should have said no. but obviously Money is worth more then anything to them.
I can assure you that make no mistake if what happened to Lindsey happened to SN most so called FM fans would not pay 10 cents to see them in concert no matter what they were playing.

Mike and Neil have said so themselves they were chomping at the bit at joining FM.
Funny, I heard each of them say they needed a day or two to think about it. I heard Liam Finn, who played “Need Your Love So Bad” with Mick, talked his father into it. Neil was headlining a big festival the day he got asked.

Well, like LBCM, it is, but may be a matter of how it comes to fruition.

Because he clearly got nothing out of it. Prove me wrong. Make his tour a huge success. But don’t pretend that talking down the band on social media will do any good for his cause. It’ll just put people off the band, including Lindsey, altogether.

You're correct. Mike told Mick that he needed time to think about the offer. Neil initially didn't want to accept the offer but his son Liam talked him into joining the band. Fleetwood Mac is Liam's wife favorite band and Liam has become a huge fan of the Mac.

I’d be willing to believe that, if not for this…
Rolling Stone, August, 2017 (https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/the-last-word-mick-fleetwood-on-fleetwood-macs-dirty-laundry-bands-future-110414/)
There are a million examples in print and on radio where this or that member said, "Maybe we'll try a couple of old songs from the catalog on this next tour," and . . . nothing like that happened. Why should one statement quoted by Rolling Stone at this time convince you that the band suddenly decided to "roam vast" over its 50 years? Don't you remember Christine telling Jim Ladd, before the 1982 tour, that she was thinking about pulling some of her Mystery to Me and Heroes songs out of the cupboard? She said something like, "Now that I have trained myself to sing well, I want to play some of my old material because those old vocal tracks never pleased me."
Are you unfamiliar with Stevie's oft-quoted comments that "We can't throw in too many new songs because audiences will get bored" and "Look what happened to us in Kansas City in 1977"? Whether a song is a new song or an old song that may as well be new to the concert audience is moot: Stevie's true feelings are apparent. A concert set should consist of the familiar.
The idea that only some members of the band were sitting around for decades, slow-burning with the desire to play 1967 to 1974 songs but continually sabotaged by some other members . . . this is bunk. And the idea that one of those members who slow-burned with the desire to play old songs was Stevie Nicks . . . this is a layer of crud on the bunk.
It was probably Mick and John who were cool with the idea every tour. They're easy. They recorded all fifty years. They aren't songwriters. When you're a songwriter and your song is a radio hit, it's natural you want to perform it live. As Fleetwood Mac cemented its iconic whatness with multimillion-selling albums, the concert set ossified. Who is surprised?
(By the way, I'm not suggesting that, during the set planning for 1979, Lindsey didn't urge everyone to play a lot of Tusk. Of course he did. But that's not the same as saying that he wouldn't "allow" this or that from 1970.)

David, I think Stevie was emboldened by how well her 24 Karat Gold tour went, which had more deep cuts than usual, which might have been what Mick was partially referring to in that interview.
Nah. Just accept I’m right and move on. :D
Haha, seems that's the only way to stop going around in circles with you or rebutting your splitting hairs on everything discussed. :D
Using the term chomping at the bit was probably not the best term to use referring to when Neil and Mike were asked to join the band. Yes they both didn't decide instantly, but it didn't take them long. Mike, a day? And Neil was rehearsing with them 2 weeks after he was asked. They were both very eager and excited to join. The prestige, glory, and money being on the BIG STAGE with FM was far too appealing for them to pass up.

The whole private jet/LA Forum is a red herring pulled out of a much bigger conversation Mike was having in regards to Tom's passing and the possible sudden end of The Heartbreakers. When people die or relationships end you always sit and think later wow I'm never gonna do (blank) again. Mike seems like a pretty humble guy and I don't think it's some huge priority that he flies on a G4. He was and is processing a loss.
Rolling Stone being the journalistic whores that they have always been (not necessarily a bad thing) threw that salacious bit of red meat out there for the FOMO/outside looking in folks, a little bit of which exists in all of us.
I'm not going to sit here and watch people start trashing Mike or Neil for that matter when Saint Lindsey f*cking Buckingham is building 20 million dollar spec homes and flies on a private jet to every god damn show. It's f*cking hypocrisy on the part of those making it a thing and takes us yet even further away from the music.
Your 6 month long psychotic break over whatever the hell happened between FM and LB is exhausting and quite frankly played. I don't have the patience for it anymore. He's doing his tour and they're doing their tour. They are both releasing retrospectives with over 100 songs combined.
Anyone want to talk about music?

David, I think Stevie was emboldened by how well her 24 Karat Gold tour went, which had more deep cuts than usual, which might have been what Mick was partially referring to in that interview.
You're right. She has stepped out of the usual on some of her tours. I'm not totally familiar with the 24 Karat tour, but I saw videos of the two title tracks of her first two albums. I wanted to give Stevie a warm handshake when I saw those. And her 1998 tour with Sleeping Angel and Rose Garden and Garbo, too. Muchos kudos. I saw Stevie's first tour and felt the excitement of seeing her play a Tom Petty song I had no knowledge she even knew. So she has definitely made her brave, funky choices, and they almost always turned out to be very welcome.
But she has never been a shock jock of the concert set list. She usually treats her choice and running order of songs as a commodity: this year sounds a lot like last year, which sounded a lot like the year before, etc.
And even more pronounced than the choice of song for a tour is the arrangement of the song. Depending on the band, it's almost always the same. There isn't much difference in the way Dreams is done onstage from decade to decade. Maybe the fatigue we sometimes say we feel with certain songs is really a fatigue with the musical sameness. (What if this year they did Dreams entirely a cappella, with Stevie, Christine, Neil, Mike, and backup people?) Lindsey does this too, I'm bummed to say, but on occasion he "reimagines" a song by giving it a new arrangement or a different atmosphere, as he did with Big Love and what-all I can't think of the others. I think on one tour of his, he did I'm So Afraid with a greatly-pared-down drum kit, which made it sound kind of futuristic or sci-fi.
I've always been of the mind that I don't care what they all play, if they're playing it differently. Remember when Matchbox 20 turned Never Going Back Again into a minor dirge? It didn't work for me all that well, but I was happy about the attempt to really reimagine the damn old thing---like going from bluegrass to Depeche Mode.

Definitely. I would add, as a big fan of their music, I've watched the Mirage, Tango, White Winged Dove, Dance, and Rock a Little videos so much that I burnt myself out on songs that were always featured, such as GDW, Rhiannon, and Dreams. That's not Stevie's fault, but that's why I personally could go without ever hearing those songs live again. So your idea that they could mix the arrangement up is fantastic, and I think even the casual fan would like that. Although can one really be called a casual fan of they pay $100 for a ticket

Lindsey isn't perfect but I hate it when people bring up his pas behavior and seem to ignore her behavior.
Almost every article about Stevie mentions her former drug use, love affairs, excesses of the 1980s, etc. so her behavior has hardly gone unnoticed. And I think Mick and Lindsey had both rightfully blamed her in the media in the past re: album and tour delays. In my opinion the whole TITN period (during the recording, before L left) is when they should have fired her the first time. The second time was when she did not want to record after Christine came back. But it was a business decision not to, just like it was a business decision to fire Lindsey a few years later.

Sorry what I meant was the fans not the press. Since he was fired many people have brought up the abuse stories and that Tusk tour incident as if it justifies his firing. I don't know how many people are on Facebook or in any of the fan groups on Facebook devoted to SN or FM but allot of people in those groups are really nasty towards Lindsey and or his family or the fans that don't have anything positive to say about SN.
I keep asking myself who so many fans are supporting the tour when it is so obvious what they did. When are people going to stop drinking the kool aid and stop giving a pass to greedy Mick and his selfish money hungry antics. Same with SN. She has allot to answer for going back to 87 when she barely showed up for work an album to delaying a 2012 tour and then a new album with the 5 of them. They bent over backwards time and again for her especially re Buckingham McVie when they waited for her to contribute to what should have been a new FM album. Why is it that she gets a pass for her diva antics as of late but if Lindsey asks for one thing (Doing solo dates in between FM shows) suddenly he is a POS. and he gets the boot.
Plus the people gushing over the cover songs they are doing makes me scratch my head. This is FM's 50th anniversary celebration so they should only be playing FM songs. If they wanted to do a tribute they should be doing 5 or so songs from 67-74 with an introduction from Mick and a video tribute to the members from that era (Kind of like the in memoriam segment the Oscars do ). The Tom Petty tribute feels so tacky and imo confirms even more that Tom's Death has allot to do with why SN got Lindsey fired.
