Their brand is ruined.
Are they really THAT STUPID? Not seeing how it would affect their brand?
Well, we know that Mick is that stupid, but I'd hope $tevie would be a little more business savvy that that. But her massive ego blinded her to the possible backlash.

That makes us three. After she said 'no' to a new album she thought that was the end of it. But hell no, Lindsey went further a did his album anyway and with everybody but Stevie in it. And then he had the audacity of promoting it with a tour. How dare him?! Hence the firing. The end. :D

Fascinating stuff... it's finally putting data to the anecdotal discussions of ticket sales & prices we've been talking about around here for months. I have to wonder how many of the current ticket transactions were snatched up by scalpers, too... and if there will be a mad rush to dump them at a loss as shows start approaching.
I also have to wonder how much the band itself is kept in the loop about these figures- I'd have to imagine much more so than the general public. With ticket prices down 20% and an additional member added to the band, this will absolutely hit them where it hurts most- their wallets. Makes you wonder how badly Mick is sweating right now! :p
You have to laugh, really..
Did they never think sacking Lindsey just might affect ticket sales?
Even if Stevie is so in diva mode these days to ponder the long term
aspects of her actions and Mick can only think as far as his nose-end.
Their management should have known this would happen...

I would think that the band's management would already know before they booked the tour that the ticket prices will be lower. It is not the classic FM line up. However, my bet is that this is still one of the tours with the biggest revenue in its time frame. I am ignoring all of the ridiculous Stevie bashing comments. Not even worth their grain of salt. I could care less about those folks opinions.
Lindsey is gone...and the band goes on. And I heard that BM album so I know she isn't jealous. And, I honestly believe she isn't petty like those throwing around those types of remarks.

Exactly! He may be just as much of a diva as she is but he's not the one who threw weight around to get someone else fired. Granted, she has more power these days than he does but even if he did have that power, I very highly doubt he ever would've done something like that out of pettiness. His 'power move' is making an album without her probably just to show her "fine you don't want to be on this, then don't, but we're not stopping". But to use your power to get someone kicked out of the group they've put decades of work into? I never thought Stevie-- or anyone in the band for that matter-- could do anything so ugly.

This. Just think, back in the 70s after Lindsey and Stevie split he could have easily pushed her out of FM. Lindsey was who the band wanted after all... and Stevie wasn't taken seriously by anyone in FM, even after she had been a member for years. She was a source of constant fodder for music critics, too. Especially after her affair with Mick, I think Lindsey could have made a pretty solid case to can her. Not to mention it was a hugely male-centered world back then. Getting rid of Stevie would likely have been all to easy.
Even in the 80s when Stevie was spiraling out of control and was essentially absent from the Tango recordings, Lindsey didn't try to get her fired. Instead, he just walked away. Without Lindsey, Stevie would not be famous, period. So for her to shove him out of the band just seems heinously duplicitous... especially considering the reasoning the band gave for his firing. No one has made FM wait around and burn through precious time more than Stevie Nicks.
As far as Lindsey being a diva, I just don't see it. He's not the one who demands concert footage be reshot with ridiculous overdubbed close-ups. He's not the one with excessive tour riders regarding food & hotels etc. He's not the one who comes & goes in the studio as he pleases. Yeah, he has super high expectations and demands in regards to quality- but how exactly is that a bad thing? He was essentially the architect of the band's sound; he absolutely put in more studio time than anyone in the band- 2/3 of the time working on songs that weren't even his. So I think he earned the right to challenge the others to up their respective games.
Again, Stevie has always been my favorite member... I'm no blind Lindsey sycophant. I just feel this whole situation is grossly unfair to Lindsey, and the band's legacy itself. Yes, the band has always reinvented itself... but it's not 1975 anymore. They have frozen into a solid definition, and Lindsey is a key part of that equation.

Well, we're now learning some stories from the 80's about Mick and Stevie ignoring Lindsey I've never heard before.
I'm reading some books and I'm learning that Fleetwood and the McVies never had a problem firing band members. I'm not saying Stevie is innocent, but she surely found support in her decision.
I'm sure what angered her the most was the fact that Lindsey went ahead and did an album without her.

I might add. I'm so curious to know what Christine really thinks.. I know she's under contract and not much she can do... but has she called Lindsey? I know so many folks are willing to give Christine a pass here. I am not. She said herself she was excited to get out with the replacements. I really struggle because I want a proper farewell to this band. Now, it just feels like a sad replica of Journey. I want the 5 Fireflies together again but I SOOOO want to know that Lindsey also told them to Stuff it. Such a dichotomy of emotions.
I love Buck Vie but if Lindsey gives Christine a pass on this to do Buck Vie 2....welll.....And Christine, if that's the case, look out, because Stevie could have you excommunicated too.
While I am not going to see this karaoke extravaganza, I am very excited to see how long it takes for Stevie to finally cave to the mentionistis. It will happen it's just a case of when.

I too do NOT give Christine a pass. She's the one who could have saved the day, and she did nothing.
I guess all the love they showed on BuckVie was just meaningless stage drivel. :distress:

This is my take. I have seen many nasty posts on Facebook by now ex friends (I unfriended and blocked them) where Lindsey and or his family have been attacked. They bring up decades old abuse "allegations" and or behavior by Lindsey while ignoring or making excuses for everyone else in the band. One person went on and on claiming Buckingham McVie was called that just to piss off SN. They bring up how he left in 87 while ignoring the reasons behind that.
As far as I am concerned NO ONE in the band gets a pass for their past behavior but all of those things happened decades ago so why is it OK to cherry pick everything bad Lindsey ever did while excusing everyone else.
One of my favorite comments was on Instagram where some trolls went after his wife claiming that they only have the fancy house and money etc because of SN and her success. Obviously just some brain dead **** disturbers with nothing else to do. Then there was this beauty from an ex friend on Facebook that was posted a few days ago.
The fact you LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM even mentally let's not even delve into the physical abuse you put Stevie through sickens me!! Even though it was first documented in 1979 (tusk tour) where he kicked her, hit her with his guitar on stage and mocked her and christine even hit him afterwards. It wouldn't surprise me if he did it again.... the fact he's been KICKED OUT of Fleetwood Mac whether you like him or not makes me so happy! Stevie can feel unnerved and free on that stage without the presence of him being there I know I'll get comments through of silver springs moments and the sara moments but seriously she might have gotten over it (which I don't think she had clearly) He is and always will be a woman abuser Anyway rant over but let's not forget. Pretty slanderous I say. This is from a teen who has previously posted about wanting to meet SN and hoping to gets Karen's info so he can get a meet and greet through her. Keep dreaming buddy.
Then lately I have seen people post articles or quotes re Storms or Gold Dust Woman (The books) and they act like it is the gospel truth what was written in those books.
As for the tour, his own family has said that what Mick and SN said re the tour delay is not true and people don't believe them. His wife runs a reputable business so I hardly think she will lie and risk her reputation.
Plus all this talk about Lindsey was the one who didn't want to play the old stuff (pre B/N) is BS. Mick is the leader and the buck stops with him. If he really wanted to play Bob Welch, Peter Green, Danny Kirwan materiel he would have insisted it and he never did. I met him in 2009 and he said they don't play that stuff because most of their current fans don't know those songs and they would want the hits. Now all of a sudden Mick is interested in that material. Same goes for some of the fans of FM. Before this happened they could care less about songs not from the B/N Era and now suddenly they all excited about that materiel. I know this as in the past when I expressed my issue with them not playing songs from that era they said things like nobody wants to hear that stuff it isn't well known etc.
The ticket sales are very bad and I wonder what will happen if they get closer to show time and they still haven't sold many tickets.
As far as I am concerned Mick and SN have only themselves to blame if this tour flops. They know what they did and clearly it backfired as fans are not lining up to buy tickets.

Exactly. There's still two months ahead to fill those arenas and no matter how much people want this tour to fail; those seats will be filled once the tour starts.
I also want this tour to fail but let's face it, we're talking about FM, and casual fans still don't know Lindsey was fired. Besides, I don't think Lindsey's potential return to the band is linked to this tour's potential failure.

I'm pretty sure casual fans do know Lindsey isn't going to be on the tour. Most everybody knows this by now. The point is that they don't care. They're casual fans. They want to hear the hits and as long as it mostly resembles Fleetwood Mac and Stevie is there, they don't care about the specifics of who is performing.

I would love to do an interview with John and Christine.
both of them could have stopped this yet didn't.
I loved the BuckVie record but now that video looks so weird to me....
...and this bit about Lindsey holding them up when Stevie did just that -for years- and Lindsey is the one to get the boot? no.
Lindsey is obviously very intense and of course that probably drives everyone nuts but look at it this way....he's trying to make records your great grandchildren will love, not just do endless cash grab greatest hits tours.
They should have given him his props but they didn't. ...and Stevie not being able to table the BS and cough up 3 songs for a proper Mac album is reprehensible, she's had 30 odd years to do it. Selfish.
I'm not going to root for them to fall on their face, rather, something I think is far worse. This longtime fan is going to give them a big MEH.

I don't think you need today's happenings to prove that. Stevie's last 2 solo albums, In Your Dreams and 24k Gold were recorded and she loved to promote the songs on tour. I saw her 24k Gold tour and she LOVED talking, singing, and promoting all the new songs.
I don't think anyone believed Stevie when she gave the reason not to record with Fleetwood Mac. It was a lame excuse. I expect the band to perform at least 2 new songs on the tour just to try and convince everyone they are a real band.

What I noticed is that tickets on what used to be Lindsey's side are extremely "cheap" in comparison to Christine's or Stevie's side. For example, row 5 at The Garden on Lindsey's side is $800, whereas on Christine's side is $1800 and Stevie's side is $2000.
So even if they end up selling all tickets, they're already facing some financial losses. :)

Yeah, those are scalpers' prices. Vivid Seats is a scalpers' site. Prices are pretty much the same as The Classics last year. I don't see much difference as when Lindsey was in the band. Maybe on TM but not on these kind of sites.

But how will they give us new music? Christine is the only one left who can write a decent hook, but in the last 40 years, she has done her best work within FM, which means together with Lindsey. Stevie has raided her vaults, she can't write anything even decent for deades now. Who will produce her songs, Dave Stewart? I have no idea about Neil Finn, but his strongest output is older, too. Mike Campbell, okay, he is a producer and writes songs. Too bad that TPATHB have always bored me to tears. Idon't see an album emerging from this mashup of people - there is no frame, talent, drive, energy and no urgency to make an album happen.

Finally, someone said it. TPATHB bore me to tears, too. I usually like one song per album in the old days. But, it's so generic to me.

Yeah, TPATHB made very high quality but utterly generic music. Everything they released almost seemed to be crafted by a corporate committee. I guess this explains my always complex feelings about Bella Donna, too. The music quality song for song arguably beats any other Stevie solo album. Yet the album is largely cold and lifeless to me. Other of her albums like Rock A Little and OSOTM might be white hot messes, but they at least had some real personality to them.
Regarding Dave Stewart producing Stevie’s songs in a supposed new FM album- not going to happen. She’s reportedly had a falling out with him and tossed him aside. Par for her course, Lindsey is the only one who has produced more than 2 albums with her.

I hope the creative energies will flow now that the source of trouble for the band is gone and new strong talents are in. Or maybe you are right that without Lindsey they are a laughable decrepit bunch of talentless has-beens.

You may be right but I wonder given the high prices if people are not willing to pay those prices for a new lineup of FM. If people were really interested wouldn't they have bought tickets by now?

It's funny, I'm a huge Christine fan and I have no desire to pay money to see them again. The BuckVie show spoiled me. I see why Lindsey fans don't want the Fmac tour as much as the solo tour. You get a better product for a better price.
I've seen all 3 singers do solo shows and I have to say Christine' 1984 was my fav. Out of the Cradle tour was a close 2nd.

I agree with you 100% and I almost feel guilty about it. The Buck/McVie show was so good. I was in the 7th row. It was a dream come true to see them up close. I just wish Chris would have played some solo stuff.
With this upcoming tour, I also have no desire to see them. I tell myself this is probably the last time ever to see Christine live but I still wont go.
I want a Mac show 100%. To think the set list is going to included Stand Back, a Petty tune, and a Crowded House tune, plus 2 "new" songs that no one will ever hear again. They will throw in the Mac staples, Dreams, Chain, Rhiannon, blah blah blah
I just see no reason to see this tour.
Now if Chris surprised everyone and does Why (which will never happen), things could change.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I am interested in seeing them and have not purchased my tickets yet. The shows in my area are still months away and I don't want to tie up the money that far in advance. Also, I am holding out hope that there may be some additional dates added that are a bit closer to me that don't involve as much travel. I'll grab something as things get much closer. If all the good seats are gone I suppose I can always go the StubHub route.

My feelings exactly. It's not that I didn't pay attention to FM during the years Chris was gone, I just didn't care enough to pay arena prices to see the band without my favorite member. That changed when she returned; I anted up for a full band show and then for BuckVie last year. BuckVie was a great show; so much fun to see the two of them interacting like that on stage. (The pointing and gesturing during "Go Your Own Way" was laugh-out-loud funny.) But now I can't bring myself to support this band, even if it's my last chance to see Christine in concert.

Besides Chris in '84, the only other solo FM shows I've seen over the years have been Bob Welch and Peter Green. Great shows, but Chris in '84 was the best. At this point I am anxiously awaiting my first opportunity to see a solo Lindsey show.

I will eat my shoe live on Facebook if anything from the BTM era is played
With 2 Stevie songs (solo and Petty)
1 crowded house song
2 new songs
2 classic Mac songs (pre Stevie) for the new guys to do
That's 7 songs!!! That's 1/3 of the set list which leaves no room other than Dreams, Chain, Little Lies, Rhiannon, Landslide, Don't Stop, YMLF
Maybe the "Rumours" will be true and Journey will open the show and they can do a joint medley of Don't Stop Believing and Don't Stop

I agree. This is going to become the $tevie Nick$ show for a couple reasons.
1)The old goat got Lindsey kicked out of the band.
2) Christine is starting to lose it. Barely playing keyboards now, and her voice is fading. So I don't see her taking any chances on more obscure songs. I(unfortunately) doubt she'll play a larger role than she previously did, mainly due to the above reasons.
So WTF will Neil sing besides GYOW, DDIO, and a couple PG era songs?

I may be in the minority on this board but I think the Mac tour will sell very well and I don't see them wanting to share profits with anyone especially since they have 2 new members who want to get paid $$$$$$$

I think these 2 new members likely get paid considerably less than LB would have.....hence more coin in others pockets. Mike and Neil don't warrant getting paid what lindsey would have. So at the end of the day, Mick and Stevie have more money in their pockets. As do John and Chris--Now, depending on the set list for this circus.....well all bets are then off.

Stevie will probably have more money in her pockets but she will also have to work more. She supposedly took Lindsey’s place and in the band. Nor Neil or Mike. She did. So I expect her to work as much as Lindsey did. If she can’t do it, she should probably let others take her place. You know, people with some musical background.:laugh:

I actually agree with you. Stevie will have to work a lot harder during this tour now that LB is not there when he is usually the one who works and owns the stage. And you are right she won't be able to keep the pace, nor will she enjoy how much more exhausting it is for her when she has no doubt more vocal work to contribute.

It’s OK. And I guess that assumption would make sense when you consider The Pretenders play a lot of songs and so does Stevie but The Pretenders get all those songs in in under an hour. They are way more efficient then Stevie.

It will definitely be more work than past FM tours but I don't think it's beyond her physically. I do think that she might find it to be a lot less satisfying emotionally.
She loved acting out the drama with Lindsey - it brought out the fire in her and enriched her performances - and now she has nothing to work with. Neil and Mike were hired because they will go along with whatever she wants, but soaking up sycophancy won't give her any adrenaline rushes. I'm betting the "Fleetwood Milquetoast" tour won't be as fun as she thinks.

In my opinion, this has been the decline of $tevie. $he has surrounded herself with yes men. Without that friction, she's just had to rely on her past legend status in order to sell tickets and make records. She needs to be challenged. Interesting that Dave Stewart was canned, too. I don't understand why everyone says ticket sales are bad for the tour. The venues are not selling out immediately like the Dance or On With The Show but they will be sold out or near sold out in many cities. I just checked the south Florida show and the arena is 3/4 sold and the concert is not for another 6 months. In 2013 the Mac cancelled their south Florida concert along with Montreal due to poor ticket sales. The following year in 2014 it sold out with Christine. Sales are brisk. Stevie just got off a sold out solo tour. Most of the people are Stevie fans who loyally fill the arena.

Are you still on this false narrative? In the majority of markets ticket sales are off by 20% at a comparative time elapsed from the onsale date / prior to show date and that is at a 20% decrease in average price point.
This is not a disaster, everyone’s costs will be covered, but it is most definitely selling under expectations.

NO, its NOT a false narrative which is why I brought it up.
20% off from what? Time elapsed? LMAO On with the show tour was announced and sold within a month of the first concert. These dates were announced over a half a year before the performance in many cities. No comparison there.
The bottom line is while they may not get On With The Show numbers, they will get Unleashed numbers (that tour cancelled shows but had very strong numbers in most cities). Don't forget, Unleashed was in the top 10 concert grosses of 2013.
You can scream FAKE NEWS all you want but the facts show otherwise. The tour is barely promoted since it has not even started yet. Stevie had worst pre-sales for 24k Gold and sold out the most arenas during her entire career which is why she kept extending the tour. We all laughed after the first month of ticket sales but sure enough the asses were in the seats and sold out. The only people that buy concert tickets 8 months before a concert are hardcore fans. The arena will be casual fans who are mostly there to see Stevie. Casual fans are not flocking to buy tickets to a concert half a year away. On with the show was like the Dance. It was a moment in time that cant be reproduced. The Dance was the band reuniting all 5 Rumours members. The Dance brought back Christine after 16 years. There is no new album and Lindsey is gone. Of course its not On with the show and those kind of ticket sales. You cant compare these tours. The Mac double backed over most US cities during On With the Show. Having said that, the tour will be very successful and not just "covering costs" as you pretend in your false narrative.
Even the chart that is provided has tickets a whopping $8 less than On with the show at the BBT Arena. OMG 8 whole dollars from the Mac's peak concert tour ever!!!

I am not going to debate this with you. Average ticket price is not higher and shows are less than 60 days out. We can cherry pick good markets and poor markets, but the average is what it is.
In my 21 years visiting the ledge I have neve posted fake news and used what information I have had access to give like minded fans a bit of additional insight. I am not a bomb thrower or a power poster, and always try to offer nuance in my posts. I will not be labeled a liar. I am fine going back underground as far as this forum again. Probably for the better given the vitriol contained within these circular threads.
I am right on this and not going to debate it anymore. Choose to believe what you want and enjoy the show!

Its not a debate but you want to make it a debate. I doubt you would disagree On With The Show was the highpoint for Fleetwood Mac concerts. The ticket prices, the excitement of Christine, the long tour, double back on cities, the revenue, etc.
Many like yourself and the OP's posted chart is comparing apples and oranges. To compare this upcoming tour without Lindsey to the On With The Show tour is ridiculous. Even if Lindsey stayed in the band, I doubt they would be able to reproduce those kind of numbers and excitement. Nonetheless, my point takes issue with this comparison. I think most bands or concert promoters would be thrilled with a 3/4 sold arena and 7 months to go before the concert.
Without a doubt the tour will be successful. Most of the audience comes for Stevie and she always puts the asses in the seats. What I am saying is a no-brainer. What I take issue with is people saying ticket sales are poor or the tour will just cover costs.
That is completely not true. My feelings would be to not have a successful tour without Lindsey. But my feelings have nothing to do with reality. Its going to be a long and very successful tour and expect it to be in the top 10 concert grosses of 2019.

One final point and then I am out.
When the term “cover costs” is used it means all your expenses including band guarantees. The guarantees assure that the each band member will be well compensated for the tour. It is the promoters who make less or suffer losses if the tour revenues don’t meet expectations. Band just loses potential bonus income on the revenue beyond expection or potenatial multiple night stands or 2nd and 3rd routings as promoters won’t risk it, unless guarantees are reduced to be more in line with actual revenues.

John Run, I am sorry this poster is being so disrespectful towards you. I think anyone with discernment can see you are someone who actually has knowledge in this area and does not have an agenda. Certainly those of us who have been around know this.
The ignorant will always call the informed liars when the facts don't suit their narrative, regardless of all evidence to the contrary. They are also the most shrill and aggressive, sadly. "The worst are full of passionate intensity" as Yeats said. He preceded that with "The best lack all conviction" because, in part, of how often those in the right let the worst dominate.
While I think it's fine to leave this "debate" because you've proven your point, I hope you do not let this poster drive you away from the Ledge entirely.

I agree completely.
Promoters probably need to see 75% capacity(or more) to even break even. Before the promoter even makes a penny. So yes, they're going to be much less likely to book multiple dates in a market, or "iffy" markets.
So yes, the band will get paid, but if the promoters don't? They're not doing it because they're fans. It's their business, and they're not going to be happy about getting f*cked.

But if it turns out to be a great show, which it actually has the potential to be then it will sell. It's way too early to call it a failure.

OMG
I cant believe writing a post about the obvious would lead to such a wild response accusing me of an agenda, promoting a false narrative, and even more surprising being disrespectful. Huh?
Some of you are very brash writers in this forum. That is not usually me.
Lets clear things up if I can but sadly truth does not matter these days. People believe alternative facts because their feelings tell them so.
So lets stick to 100% indisputable facts.
First me pushing an agenda. I am not seeing this upcoming Mac tour and went on the record about it. I was one of the more vocal writers around here when Lindsey was fired. The band is in my town on my birthday and I am not going. Nothing would make me happier than to see the upcoming tour a complete failure. So all you wild cats out there thinking I am cheering for a successful tour are wrong and all of my statements over the past year are consistent on this. I used to take the flames on this board for not even calling Finn by his name and called him the "Crowded House guy."
Next....I have scanned Ticketmaster out of curiosity and the sales are not fantastic but brisk and well above average and see signs of full or near sold out arenas by concert day. Oh how dare I saw this. Off with my head!
Now the most obvious part is Stevie doing her mini solo stuff on stage. Stevie just had her most successful solo tour selling out arenas everywhere. HELLO people. These fans will be at the show. Every Mac tour Stevie has participated in did pretty good. She kept the fans there in 1987 when Lindsey left and she kept the fans there after Say You Will when Christine left. This is why Mick picked Stevie over Lindsey. Oh gosh I said that too. Off with my head! How dare I go there! And so disrespectful to say it. Next point is falsely comparing this upcoming tour to OWTS. Not right to do because that tour was the reuniting of the 5 Rumours era members just like the Dance was. Would it not be a better comparison to 1987 or 2012-2013? Of course it would. How dare I point out the obvious again.
For anyone to say the tour wont be successful is wrong and not living in reality. Case in point. We just went through this 2 years ago with Stevie's 24k Gold tour. Read the posts on here. We all mocked the pre-sale, and constantly posted photos Ticketmaster blue dots in arenas. I was on that bandwagon how no one cared about 24k Gold and no way she could fill arenas anymore. You see, I am strong enough to admit when I was wrong. And I was 100% wrong.
I know there is still anger about Lindsey's firing but you cant let it warp your common sense. I still cant believe American Idol was a successful TV show. But just because I don't believe it does not make it true. This upcoming tour ticket prices are certainly more expensive than Unleashed and at this point the sales are similar to Unleashed. Unleashed made a ton of money even cancelling Montreal and South Florida due to poor ticket sales. If my memory is correct, Unleashed finished in the top 10 concert gross for the year.
There is nothing to debate especially since the tour has not even started yet. There is no disrespect of anyone. Some take things way too personal. However you are entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts. The Stand Back crowd will be there in all their glory. And yes believe it or not, its still a very large group

RBBM
But, compared to which. And even if it is a halfway, somewhat still decent concert, as far as concerts go, although it would have to be STELLAR for those ticket prices, IMHO, it'll not be a Fleetwood Mac concert. It'll be a cover band in which some (and not always the best) members of the actual band, also play along. Alright, I'll call a spade a spade, and mean, IMO, Stevie not being the best one of the actuals.
And then, if it were a mind-blowingly good show! as far as concerts go! Then, still, the drama that preceded it will leave a very nasty aftertaste. Or should. Injustice is injustice, no matter how you spin things. And I'll personally not ever condone it nor support it with even a penny.
