Oh seriously! It breaks my freaking heart!

I was listening to a bootleg the other day of "Without You" from 2013 and Stevie was intro'ing it with this beautiful story of how much she loved Lindsey and he was saying the same and it was so freaking sweet and wonderful.

Listen to how she talks him up in this video below and how he responds. Lindsey says at 6:15 "There are a few more chapters left in the book of Fleetwood Mac and I love you, Stevie. I love you." Stevie: "I love you." Where did that love go??

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpeQXCnr_mA

Stevie and Lindsey, in the clip below about 4:25, talk about becoming "the new George and Gracie" and Stevie says, "When the music is gone, we can do comedy." Lindsey talks about insisting she be in the band before he joined and says "That's love."

I think their relationship was actually good in that time. But it soured later on, probably exacerbated by the OWTS tour coming right after. They shouldn't have done back to back tours like that, they needed a break from each other but because of Christine returning they did it anyways.
And then Stevie continuously refusing to record, thus the BuckVie album etc etc.

Imagine having a horrific, nasty break-up and having to continue to work together, sing painful lyrics to each other, and never getting proper closure.
I am not buying the story the band is telling why Lindsey was let go.
Nor am I buying the story some of the fans on this board are assuming.
I think there was a huge, nasty fight before the Music Cares show.
Like REALLY nasty.
But that's just my opinion.

Although there are clearly also other factors at play (like Tom Petty's untimely demise last year and the effect of that on Stevie's perspective), I think you have something here.

Although SnL are two adults and can't blame Christine's presence if they're not getting along with each other, she is senior to them in the band (now in a very literal sense ) and her return would have upturned whatever delicate balance and narrative they had going on as the Buckingham and Nicks Show, and possibly resulted in a regression of mindsets, dynamics and behavior to what they were in the 70s~80s years.

Came across this quote:

"Lindsey is probably the man who loved me the most in my life. So when I die I will remember that: that of all the men in my life Lindsey, absolutely, bar none, was the man who loved me the most." - Stevie, Q Magazine, 2008

I really hope Stevie turns it around or, on that deathbed, I fear she will be filled with regret....

It is likely that Stevie still loves Lindsey and realizes how much he has loved her. Despite that, if Lindsey backed out of a contractual obligation to tour for the next year (Lindsey has not denied this), then the band was within its rights to let him go and find replacements. There aren't many jobs where a person can refuse to show up at work for a year and not be fired. If you have a job like that, count your lucky stars.

Even if everything you said is true, honestly... the "bosses" had a choice here; they did not HAVE to fire him. They chose money over a 50 year relationship. To me, that is very, very sad and wrong.

Oh boy not this contractual obligation again. Show me the contract. Show me the proof.

I give up.

Edited to add that "he has not denied this" is NOT proof. I have not denied to have stolen my neighbours car, yet, I haven't.

If by "loved the most" she mean "boinked the most", than "correct". I honestly don't think that woman has truly loved anyone but her own reflection. Ever. People who are great at writing about love seldom experienced or had much luck with it. :sorry:

Like the monignior at my church growing up once said in a sermon "love is NOT a pulsating pen......" You get the picture.

Ouch! I don't believe that! She surely loved Lindsey, who was there for her before she was a famous rock star. He knew the "real Stevie." (Now there's one less person around her who doesn't just see her as a rock star.) However, it is possible that she has never been able to surrender her heart entirely to anyone. Perhaps she always holds something back. Thus, "the story ended tragically."

I was going to start a separate thread about Lindsey and Stevie but noticed the discussion here has evolved into that anyway.

Lindsey and Stevie did love each other. Do they love each other still? Of course they do. Listen to the emotion in She Loves Him Still, recorded just four years ago. And I have NO DOUBT that Stevie is going to drop some bombs in the form of two or three new songs on tour about, you guessed it, Lindsey. :xoxo::xoxo:

Or maybe she will just sing "My Mother's Rings" about her mom.

:(

Stevie and Lindsey were together EIGHT years. My dad dated a lady named Lizz for EIGHT years. He never got over her, even though he remarried, he still hates anyone to say a bad word about Lizz. But my mom is another story, he has loathed her for the 16 years they have been divorced.

Stevie is Lindsey's Lizz. Or Lizz is Dad's Stevie. The men and women we never get over, even if we move on and you know what - after 43 years as close colleagues, who can blame them for wanting time apart, when their full time touring schedule would push them to breaking point and damage Lindsey's marriage and Stevie's romance with Dave Stewart? (Tongue in cheek there)

If it were a mutual decision to take some time apart, then that would be one thing.

But Lindsey was fired from the band he had devoted most of his life to... FOREVER, unless things change. Stevie ripped a huge part of his life away from him. She tossed him aside like garbage and replaced him with another man in a heartbeat, as if he were nothing but a sideman.

How are they going to come back from this?

I'm afraid she destroyed their 50 year relationship forever. :(

I hope I'm wrong.

I hope this has not destroyed their relationship forever too.

Aside from her brother, who else is still alive that she has all that shared history with?

I guess you just have to hope she wakes up one morning and realises today is the day to suck it up and give him a heartfelt apology.

I get your point, but to a lesser extent I would also say Waddy, Mick, John, Christine, Richard, and Keith. They all knew her before she was anyone.

Lets not forget how much she loved her parents.
So, because Lindsey is fired from FM, we now are having to name proof that Stevie has indeed loved people in her life, and not just her own reflection in the mirror?
Truly weird

Richard and Keith don't count. She doesn't stay in contact with them. Their "shared history" ended a while back, just like high school friends you don't talk to anymore.

Mick, John, and Christine knew her before she was anyone... for a few months!

You have a point with Waddy, but I think "to a lesser extent" doesn't really convey how wide the gap is.

The thing about Stevie and Lindsey's shared history is that they met when they were teenagers. When you're young, there's a big difference between 17 and 23.

And unlike Waddy, whose relationship with Stevie has always been filtered through nothing but music, going back to the guy with a guitar smoking pot on the floor who's part of the LA scene.... Lindsey goes back to the teenage kid grabbing lemonade out of her mother's refrigerator when they both were still living with their parents in the suburbs, nursing dreams. The gap is huge.

As Angel75 says, other than Chris, there isn't any other living person who has consistently been in her life for that long.

To throw it into the flames...

Tragic.

We've got a bit of a criss-cross here. SteveMacD was naming people he thought Stevie had a shared history with that was comparable to her shared history with Lindsey's, not people he believed she loved.

However, I am sure you are right that she loved her parents very, very much.
