One interview with rolling stone.
Ticket sales are not exactly stellar.

I guess we just keep pouring venom on the remaining members of the band and worshipping the fired saint, a former abuser of women with anger issues, who wanted to make another FM album which would have been heavily loaded with his own woefully unpopular solo songs which ruined the last several albums and made sales mediocre.

In all seriousness, it's interesting to me how divided this board is. I dislike Silver Girl and skip it; a Lindsey fan might say Stevie's songwriting sucks and that's why it's no good, while a Stevie fan might say Lindsey's production sucks and that's why it's no good. I say it's a bad song because it just is. With Thrown Down, Stevie and Lindsey fans might say the exact opposite if they like the song- Stevie is what makes the song good vs Lindsey is what makes the song good. I say it's a good song because it just is. Generally, I admit if I like or dislike a song, I credit (or blame) the songwriter more often than not. And there are definitely a handful of Stevie, Lindsey, and Christine songs that I hate. Not a lot, but definitely a handful. Silver Girl, Family Man, and Honey Hi, are all songs I dislike, but of course plenty of people here like them.

I think it makes sense that we won't hear much from the band until late August or early September, and then we'll see a lot of interviews and peeks of the upcoming tour. To do publicity now when they're not doing rehearsals until August would be pointless. Just my opinion. Do people think the timing of the tour and silence right now is a bad idea, or that it's indicative of a problem behind the scenes? I think it's pretty smart to announce the firing of Lindsey and the replacements in quick fashion, along with the tour dates, and then a few months of silence to give folks time to process the lineup changes.

Well I think ticket sales actually seem to be really good. The tour was like 8 of the top 10 selling events last week or something (I don't have the link).
So they had to do the interviews to introduce the new line-up and announce the tour.
In the meantime, there's been this SiriusXM thing which I suspect has been more help than hurt in the album and ticket sales department.
I'm more perturbed by lack of concrete details from the Lindsey camp about the best of and supporting tour.

Well perhaps the inference is that, as a new band, they should get in the studio and cut an EP ahead of the tour and rehearsals. But they won't.

There's usually quite a bit of press when there is a tour including lindsey, I just thought it was odd that it's been so low key and they have a new lineup to deal with.
Unless...and I'm not saying this to be inflammatory, they thought low key was the best way to handle it with tickets going on sale etc. Downplay the shakeup etc.

I’m with you on a lot of this. No amount of production could help Silver Girl. The lyrics are dreadful. It’s right up there with When I See You Again’s uninspired turd lyrics. Family Man and Honey Hi are also brutal. And I absolutely can’t stand Only Over You. The beginning is nails on a chalkboard to me.
I also have no issues admitting that whatever was done to Smile at You was a complete shame. The production sucks. But then I hear what Stevie did to If You Were My Love in the many demo iterations post-Mirage up to and including how she played it on tour and I think how the hell could you ruin such a great song (Mirage era)?

So glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. And I completely agree about When I See You Again- so bad. The only saving grace about that song is Lindsey's beautiful vocals near the end. Only Over You is a stinker, although I admit I can tolerate more than the others already mentioned.

This post is just pathetic. The former abusing and the anger issues did not stop the band from continuing to work with said saint for nearly 40 years. So that argument is actually just some awkward attempt to give the current band credibility when there is none to find anywhere. Also blaming Lindsey Buckingham for the lack of album sales - when he actually was the sole creative force that made the albums happen in the first place - is pouring venom on a former band member, so the pot is calling the cattle black.

It's not necessarily a bad song, I'm just not a fan of how he made his voice sound. In general I don't really like those vocal filters he's done on himself a lot in recent years. They sounded really cool on his albums in the 80s but now it just makes it sound a bit much. I get that he's gotten older and he never really had the strongest voice to begin with but I still think it sounds better more natural. I liked his songs from the This is 40 soundtrack a lot for that reason. And on the BuckVie album, save for one or two songs, he also toned it down with the voice filters.

i'm sure that's well worth it! every time i saw The Stones they were great. but - they are only touring Europe, and just several places in Europe, mostly stadiums. of course GA floor / grass tix are way cheaper than the Mac, and i am eyeing some of their shows this summer....
i have way too many shows i'm seeing in the next few months actually. some newer or brand new bands, some known, some unknowns, some older but still vital and making new music like Robert Plant (with Sheryl Crow in fact!) and David Byrne.

I knew you weren't asking me specifically, but you did ask why the poster told you and Mitzo to take a time out, so I offered an explanation. If Mitzo had expressed the same confusion you had, I would have told her that referencing Library's actions back then were unnecessary. I absolutely agree with you that to talk endlessly about Lindsey's past is unnecessary, and I understand why it looked like I was jumping on one side of the track, so to speak.
Wouldn't it be great if, when discussing the current situation within and out of FM, we could all do so without mentioning alleged bad behaviors from 40 years ago? I recognize and understand it's happening on both sides. I just hate seeing a thread on band merchandise that somehow has devolved into allegations against Lindsey, or a thread about Sheryl Crow that somehow devolved into allegations against Stevie. The allegations are even more horrible when I think it's entirely possible that there are people reading these threads and have dealt or are dealing with drug abuse, abortion, or domestic violence in their own lives, and here people are using these topics as weapons. And in a thread with a title that has nothing to do with said allegations! Talk about potential PTSD! That's why I said before if people want to talk about Stevie's abortions, I guess to show what an awful person she is, then start a thread with that title. Likewise, if people want to show what an awful person Lindsey is, by talking about domestic violence allegations, start a thread with that title. OR we could ALL just quit throwing that crap in random threads.

Lindsey dominated later FM albums, largely because he was unable to have a successful solo career, and it was an outlet for his obsessive compulsive creative tendencies. This gave the recordings a certain sound but it succeeded on the girl's tunes not his. His songs on Tango and The Dance and SYW were like his solo work... unattractive and self absorbed. Come, Murrow, Family Man, anyone? WTF. Now he wanted to record with FM again, likely because he knew his solo efforts would flop. And the band voted against another album with him, dreading months of his bullying lunacy with them dancing to his overwrought tune.

Tango in the Night was their biggest hit since Rumours...And his songs on it (minus Family Man) are fantastic.
And clearly Mick, John and Christine didn't "dread months of his bullying lunacy with them dancing to his overwrought tune" since they DID record an album with him LOL. That's it, it probably factually started our with scheduling issues, like you said the ball started rolling.....despite Lindsey wanting to tour with FM this year....then no doubt it was simply a huge ugly fight....and she said 'I can't do it. It's him or me'

As for pouring venom on a band member holy ****. Look at the grotesque accusations and characterizations of Stevie and Mick elsewhere on this board. Give your head a shake, child.
Your post makes me LAUGH. The BAND did not vote against a new album, the tambourine B/WITCH did. Do you want me to name a few of Stevie's songs and base a whole latter career on it? We can start with , When I see you again if you'd like. Her vocals during much of the second half of the 80's and 90's were the epitome of unattractive and self absorbed. I will add cartoonish to that as well. And the ONLY reason this board as turned into this is one persons fault.

And now, what are they doing? They aren't even properly in rehearsals till later in summer and touring in the fall. So what exactly is it they couldn't wait for???
I think that now that they finally got rid of Lindsey, they’re shoving in his face that they’re gonna tour whenever they want. Pathetic. And I hope they fail like never before.

LOL! Well, in memory of rational thought, could you answer the following question: Where is the good stuff that LB blocked with his own songs? On Stevies solo albums?
Everything she has published for decades now, are previously rejected, recyled leftovers from a time when she could more or less put a song together.
She has managed to write one relativly decent song in the last 15 years and that was "Illume", oddly enough it's on a FM album, made from scratch by LB.

I don't think Stevie compares herself to Bob Dylan.
That statement was made to Lindsey, during the documentary, "Destiny Rules, in regards to how she writes in the 3rd person, first, etc.
Stevie named a very famous person as an example of writers that write in the third person, etc.
Lindsey was telling Stevie it is considered incorrect to word lyrics that way, which is silly, because she's always written that way.
I think he was trying to "correct her" as cameras were rolling.
He knew she has always written "incorrectly," so why point it out in 2003 when cameras are rolling.
Her reply "You wouldn't say that to Bob Dylan," was pointing out some very respected writers also write their lyrics "incorrectly."
Fact is, some critics have dissed Dylan for his "incorrect" wording of lyrics, yet people love his songwriting, and he's very successful.
Stevie used Dylan as an example of a very respected songwriter that also writes, so called, "incorrectly."
I never felt she was saying she was as great as Bob Dylan.

I don't agree.
Lindsey "dominated"(produced) the album "Tusk," strongly. Before any members had a solo career. Which at the time was dismissed but now is considered a masterpiece by critics.
He helped shape "Rumours" into the iconic album that it is.
Just because his solo music wasn't very successful, that doesn't have anything to do with his role as producer of Mac's albums.
It's been revealed by Stevie herself, that even though Lindsey was not credited as producer of "Rumours," he was very much involved in the producing of that record.
He has always been behind production of the FM sound.

He and you aren't different tenses. He is third person and you is second person. They can both be used in a song if the songwriter is describing different people or viewing the same individual from different vantage points which is acceptable writing technique in some situations. I can see Lindsey's point but I side with Stevie on this one.

I don't think it's a big deal, but I've seen this referenced a lot on this board, as if somehow it mirrors their relationship or has some significant meaning. Lindsey pointed out something about the song to Stevie, she declined his suggestion, and that was it. I don't think most producers focus on lyrics, they usually just record the song, but I have no problem with Lindsey pointing out the seeming error... just like I have no problem with Stevie keeping the song as it was. Thrown Down is my favorite song on Say You Will. I was there for opening night of this tour and I was pleasantly surprised at how many songs they did perform from SYW, but also disappointed they didn't perform Thrown Down. IIRC, FM cut a few of the new songs early on, but I feel like they sang 7 or 8 initially.

Lindsey didn't call them tenses, and he was referring to the fact that Stevie was changing from third to first/second person throughout the song even though she was talking about the same individuals; the shift of person was abrupt and there was no logic behind it. As an English prof, I side with Lindsey.
It's this line that's really confusing:
"You can sit outside his door and wait; you can dedicate your pain to him" - until that point, "you" had referred to the guy in lines like "you've shaken my faith." Now all of the sudden, "you" is presumably Stevie, unless she's referring to a third party! Then the next verse it's "him/her" and the yous have disappeared entirely.... etc. etc.

I guess we just keep pouring venom on the remaining members of the band and worshipping the fired saint, a former abuser of women with anger issues, who wanted to make another FM album which would have been heavily loaded with his own woefully unpopular solo songs which ruined the last several albums and made sales mediocre.
Couldn't disagree more.
I don't judge work based on sales. I judge it based on creativity and songwriting strength.
Seeds We Sow is Lindsey's strongest album since Out of The Cradle. I thought it was near-perfect.
The EP was great too, thanks to Lindsey.
I also think the weakest songs on Say You Will were all Stevie's.
"Silver Girl", "Running Through Garden" (ouch), "Goodbye Baby" (ouch again).

They need to up their game if they want to sell this "new band"
I'm guessing that at age 70 +, they probably don't feel like they need a premise.
There will be a lot more press once rehearsals start. Probably a bunch of video content for the web and social media. Right now they're using Sirius XM to help present the band's history. That'll go away and will be replaced by something else during the summer and then in the Fall we'll start seeing more PR.
I won't be surprised if they record a song or two.

It was person AND tense. He originally suggested “He was going home.” Then he compromised with suggestion “Now he’s going home.” She held her ground and said he couldn’t make these recommendations to Bob Dylan. He said he couldn’t not bring it up especially since this was less abstract a song than Dylan would in these circumstances.

Seems things are getting a little tense!
I just watched it last night. He called them tenses. Go rewatch
I rewatched, and he seems to mention both explicitly, albeit in the vaguest of terms anyway.
Lindsey: "..the tense and the person..."
He seems to be speaking in a deliberately vague/trepidatious/deferential manner in order to get his point across with as little ego damage as possible; no luck though, because Stevie is glaring at him before he's even made his point (if the editing of the documentary makers is to be believed).
What always frustrated me about this "scene" is that Lindsey clearly does not enjoy giving her 'notes' (who would?), so for him to make a point of this I believe means that he really liked Thrown Down and felt the potential for it to be a hit or a well-regarded song that he could contribute to fine-tuning. We don't know whether he gave much or any advice about the lyrics in, say, Silver Girl, but my assumption is that he probably recognized that one as lacking hit potential and saved his battles. My point being: I wish Stevie had registered this compliment, rather than seeming so defensive about it. But I think Lindsey's approach was lacking, too; I think what he should have bothered to do was rework the lyrics to his liking, record it himself, and then let her hear that at least. If she's such a poet, she is more likely to be swayed by hearing an actual musical performance than listening to a vague and abstract grammar lecture.

Exactly. He doesn't call the "you/me/him" etc. tenses. However, I can see how it would be confusing for people because he does talk about the tense as well, and I apologize for not acknowledging that. I had indeed forgotten verb tense was also a part of the conversation.

This part always frustrates me as well; he is obviously trying SO HARD not to offend her, yet she acts like he's being absolutely AWFUL to her! As if he's insulting her SO BADLY! And she obviously truly believes he was being horrific to her, because she plays this clip again and again as evidence of how difficult he was to work with (especially highlighting it in the In Your Dreams documentary). She fully expects viewers to be shocked and appalled by his treatment of her. She has no idea how ridiculous it makes her look that this is her example of what a monster Lindsey is in the studio.
It shows how she has become completely incapable of handling even the gentlest of constructive criticism. This is what comes when you surround yourself with sycophants and become accustomed to nothing but praise, even when you are writing less than stellar material. You surround yourself with people who tell you that everything you do is great, and when anyone tells you differently - no matter how tactfully - that person is not only in the wrong, but terribly cruel. She gets "Yes, Stevie" constantly from her entourage and endless adulation from her fans; little wonder that eventually, she decides to cut the one person who doesn't always say "Yes, Stevie" out of her life in order to ensure her "happiness."
Imagine if she had been like this when Lindsey was helping her with her work in the past? Anyone who's listened to her demos knows that if she had told Lindsey "How DARE you tell me Gypsy is repetitive - you wouldn't say that to Bob Dylan" then it would have been crappy. However, with his help, it is my favorite song.
This kind of attitude is how we get "Lady", which is the same song twice over with almost no variety. Dave Stewart: "It's incredible as it is, Stevie! No need to change a thing from your demo! You don't need to add another verse! You fart gold! 24 Karat Gold!"
Sometimes you need to be upset if you want to face your imperfections and improve yourself. I think she's removed herself from reality, to her own detriment. I hope somebody can help her see this before it's too late.

I should add that Lindsey doesn't always know best; there are times when his advice shouldn't be followed (although personally, I don't think this was one of those times). It was Stevie's attitude that made me cringe.
An artist should welcome constructive input, even if in the end he or she decides to reject that input. Stevie could have considered it with an open mind and then said, "I see your point, but I feel it's important to keep it this way" instead of immediately shutting him down with this "How dare you! Don't you ever criticize my work!" attitude.

I saw Destiny Rules when it was first released, but I don't remember a lot of it. But I vaguely remember that scene and thinking Stevie was overreacting to his feedback. I agree, Lindsey was being totally appropriate, and she seemed to take it personally, like she thought he was being patronizing. Maybe his opinion really does matter to her, so she was disappointed when he found a 'flaw' with it. And since it's obvious to me Thrown Down was written about their relationship immediately after the Dance tour, maybe Stevie was hypersensitive because of that.

I agree with all of this but I think something worth adding is that back in the day, he would probably nitpick her songs much more and likely in a not so diplomatic manner lol so she probably developed a sensitivity about that which made her overreact. I heard him say that too. And it's true, she does. I once listened to a lot of her old demos that are on YouTube and while they are veerrrryy bare boned, it's pretty impressive how she can develop that essential rhythm for her lyrics just from her voice and the plink-plink-plink piano.
But a downside of that is because she writes so many songs I think sometimes that becomes visible in how some of her songs end up sounding so similar. Sable on Blonde versus Dreams is a great example of that. They're practically identical, just with different production. And a lot of other songs too.

They knew how to push each others buttons back in 1976, and 1981, and 1985, '97, '01, '03,'13 and they are still doing it today. Whether it's critiquing lyrics or making passive aggressive comments about a "beautiful wife and children" Its what they do, dysfunctional as it may seem. If it's true that Stevie's "camp" sent a spy to the Mike Levin event, Lindsey's comments and rebuttal to the Stevie comment would likely tick her off, because he was so dismissive of her. None of us know truly if she was the "driving force" behind him not being in the bad, but she's clearly okay with it. All of these things make up the drama that has followed these 2 for over 40 years. They thrive on it.

ITA. But personally I never thought this would happen and I doubt he did either. If she was the main force behind it then I would've thought that to be beneath her and if she wasn't but she let it happen, even that is shocking. She went ballistic when he jumped ship in the 80s and that was much closer to the worst days of their history.
Which is why I fully believe that she hasn't been in a normal headspace since Tom's passing and that really affected a lot of this.

I agree with you---and I really hope, not to be morbid--nothing happens to either one of them before they can resolve this.. And as a human being--I hope they do, Forget the weird comments about when they are 80.......whatever she said, their professional success are so intertwined, their catalogue of music has each others finger prints all over it... it would be sad to have it all end on this note.

I think the reason she overreacted was because she was told this by Lindsey over the years. In her opinion she feels Lindsey is being overly critical of her words which she thinks is only directed at her. She may have a point. Did Lindsey correct Christine's grammar or verb tense in songs? Maybe he did. Who knows. But its little things like this that this former couple quibble about constantly

I had a feeling getting the two of them back together in the band was too good to be true back in the day. 21 years - 1 album. Say no more.

As an idea for the new lineup ... putting out something like a three song EP might cool off some of the animosity and drum up much needed support for the upcoming tour.
Perhaps the EP could include one Christine song, one Stevie song, and one Neil Finn song. I'm not sure if Christine and Stevie have extra songs lying around but Neil is the type who has dozens of unreleased quality songs.
I know of five Neil songs, off the top of my head, which have never been released on a Neil Finn project and are pasted below. Any of these songs could easily be reworked by the band to sound like a classic Fleetwood Mac song.
1. Serious in Love

haha just seeing 3 videos of Neil Finn as possibly "Fleetwood Mac" music sent my animosity through the roof!
glad that support is "much needed" - i wouldn't worry, they will sell. just not to most of the people who used to be FM hardcores. but i saw Stevie solo fans who for the last decade wouldn't be caught dead at a FM show now planning to go to 20+ dates. so yeah, tix will sell, eventually. once the prices go down some more.

Puhhh, Sugar Mouse. I understand that you like the guy and I have nothing bad to say about him as aperson and as an artist, but I don't see how he can bring enough energy onstage to wake up FM. They must re-arrange alot of their songs and with this mellow guy in charge of that, I fear it will become a rather dull event.

He won't bring the same amount of energy, that's for sure. And that's not something bad to say about the guy. He's not Lindsey, that's all.
Anyway, I don't think he will stay much longer with the band other than the end of the US tour.

He could be Paul McCartney for all it matters. Given the circumstances of how he's been 'brought' into the band, it's only natural that many people won't really warm up to him. Respect and appreciate his talent sure, but still not be too happy that he's there.

This 100%. Even if you don't consider who carried most of the weight in terms of stage energy, they're just going to have to change so much. Lindsey's guitar/the way he plays is sooooooo built into the FM sound.

You don't have to sell me on Lindsey ... the guy is incredible. However, Neil Finn is also incredible. If you have to lose Lindsey, you can't do much better than Neil Finn.
Have you seen Neil perform? I've seen him many times including two nights earlier this month and he's a very energetic, passionate, charismatic lead man.
Don't believe me?
Check these out these two examples ...
The first clip is Neil killing it with Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam) singing Neil's old Split Enz song "History Never Repeats".
The second clip is Neil and his 7 Worlds Collide band performing a powerful version of his song "Suffer Never".

I don't mean talent. I'm sure he's very talented. Waddy Wachtel is a very talented musician but I've always thought he and his arrangements completely butchered songs like Sara and Gypsy on Stevie's solo tours. That's what I'm referring to. Lindsey is pretty specific in terms of his guitar and the way that he plays and it's a very, very essential part of the 'Fleetwood Mac' sound, especially in their live shows. They're going to have to change the arrangements of a lot of their songs and the way they've played those songs for years now. And that would be the same if it's Neil Finn or Eric Clapton being brought in.

You may be right about that. However, I can tell you then ... Neil is a master arranger and performer. The songs may sound a bit different, but they will sound good. Really good.
And Mike Campbell is the main one who will be replacing Lindsey's guitar sounds and I bet Mike's up to the challenge. Mike is amazing.
And I guess I'm not attached to the songs sounding the same ... I'm just attached to them sounding good ... really good.
For example, have you heard Mike Campbell's version of "Oh Well"? He kills it ... comes really close to what Peter Green used to do. See below.

He definitely won't bring the energy, no doubt. He's a mellow, chilled guy....he certainly doesn't walk around the stage, he's a totally different musician. There's not really any guitar players over 60 that come close to having LBs stage presence and stamina

Sugar Mouse, so am I - a huge fan of both. Split Enz, Crowded House, Neil Finn and the Finn brother's music are engrained into our lives here and part of our national pride and cultural heritage.
HOWEVER, whilst I don't begrudge Neil for accepting this gig as he's hugely talented, I am hurt that members of FM have meant that this vacancy in the band even occurred in the first place. I just don't think it's going to work, nor to be honest would it, in my opinion, with ANY Lindsey substitutes. No one can replace Lindsey or even with two new musicians replicate his sound or amazing stage presence. It's an insult. And if they play Don't Dream it's over, that's even more cringy...sure it is the only song most Americans know....but as I can see you have an impressive and extensive knowledge of Neil's work, it's hardly his best song at all is it? It's an average mainstream, radio song.

I 100% agree- "it will NOT be a FM show the die hards would expect." That is one of the main reasons I'm really excited to see FM this year! It is definitely going to be a very different tour, perhaps even a once in a lifetime opportunity if it really is a farewell tour or if it bombs so badly they hang up their hats at the end. It could totally happen, we'll find out. But a show with Stevie, Christine, Neil, or Mike dull? I'm not worried about that at all. But missed cues, mistaken lyrics, Neil getting swatted in the eye by one of Stevie's fringe shawls because he's not used to her spinning like Lindsey is, these are all things that would actually be hilarious or welcomed, because it's like a new band, not the same stuff we've all seen a million times, live or on DVD or even vhs or beta LOL! Not that I want Neil to get poked in the eye, but you know what I mean.

I’ve seen a lot of posts about Neil as well as tons of Neil vids from this person, and nothing about FM or Lindsey other than claiming how he / she loves them. Nope. I'm a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac. One of my favorite bands of all-time.
I especially adore the songwriting of Christine McVie (especially her songs from "Bare Trees" and "Mystery To Me" which are off the charts stellar), and I also love the production/arrangements of Lindsey Buckingham. I'd rank Rumours and Tusk in my short list of favorite albums of all-time. I think I've work out my vinyl copies of each.
Stevie Nicks is a bit more hit or miss for me. "Storms", "Beautiful Child", and "Sisters of The Moon" are unbelievable gems, but I find many of her songs repetitive and uninteresting.
And, of course, Fleetwood/McVie is one of the top rhythm sections in rock music history. The work they did on songs like "You Make Loving Fun" and "Dreams" is just mind-blowing. I love that they play to highlight the song rather than call attention to their world class talent.
And I also love the songs of Danny Kirwan. What a loss that was. Danny wrote so many great songs especially "Dust" and "Woman of 1000 Years" and "Sands of Time" and "Dragonfly".
I also liked the work of Bob Welch and thought he did some great work with the band. I'm not as big into blues rock, but I recognize the brilliance of Peter Green as well.
So overall, Fleetwood Mac is clearly one of my favorite bands ever. You'll find that my posts highlight the brilliance of Fleetwood Mac (and Neil Finn) and stay clear of the negativity that permeates so many of these threads.

Very few guitarists can match Lindsey... he is an extraordinary player and I love that Lindsey doesn't overpower the listener with his guitar playing. He always uses just the right amount of guitar to highlight what the song needs rather than trying to show off. Lindsey is, without a doubt, one of the best guitarists of all-time. And I'd also say he's one of the best producers/arrangers of all-time as well.

Thanks Missy. I can understand why there is so much negativity and anger on this forum. I was heartbroken when The Clash fired Mick Jones and when Marillion fired Fish. In the former case, that was the end of the Clash. In the latter case, Marillion went on to reach new heights. I'm trying to be optimistic here and focus on the positive; that a band I love now has a world class songwriter/lead man in Neil and a world class lead guitarist in Mike. Believe it or not, I actually remember when Lindsey/Stevie joined Fleetwood Mac back in the mid-70's and there were some that were angry that a great English blues rock band was hiring two no-name soft rock Los Angeles musicians. That change worked out ok.

I don't think I like Stevie as much as you do, and I also include the White Album on my fave album short list, but otherwise you have expressed my opinions exactly, even to your praise of Christine's early songs.
Very cool. And I see you listed "from Cape Cod". We lived in New England for many years (mostly Boston) and I miss it a lot. Such a beautiful part of the world. And, for me, Christine is the "secret weapon" of Fleetwood Mac. She's not as prolific as some but her songwriting is so magical. I hope she and Neil start writing songs together as they have similar songwriting gifts of melody and chord changes. And I also love the White Album ... probably my 4th favorite FM album after Rumours, Tusk, and Bare Trees. Great to meet you!

If it is to be believed I accidentally ran across a FB page that seems authentic and it says that Fleetwood Mac will have ten television appearances before the tour even starts. Says for us to listen carefully to the opening theme of American Horror Story for a special treat from Stevie. It's a wait and see and it all starts in 3 days on the Ellen show.

How exciting! Can you share so we can keep up with forthcoming news tidbits? (Provided of course that it is a public shareable page)

Yup! Seems to be a Finn fan attempting to create some good will and new fans for him.
It's easy to tell a Mac diehard from everybody else. There are "those questions," ya know?
While I'm not interested in Neil Finn's music (I listened to Try Whistling This and other albums on Spotify to give it a chance), maybe someone can tell me why Finn's Wikipedia page says:
On 9 April 2018, it was announced that Finn would perform with Fleetwood Mac as part of their forthcoming tour in 2018, replacing Lindsey Buckingham.
Isn't that a weird way to say it? Finn officially joined, right? I also see he put out a solo album a few months ago. Does he plan to support it? I'm getting the impression he is in Fleetwood temporarily or on some sort of contingency. Is that the wrong impression? Is he going to take off after the 2018 tour? And Lord knows what Mike Campbell is going to do. His soul seems devoted to roots and blues (not pop), and I can't see Fleetwood Mac reinventing its music the way it did in the past. The great Mike Campbell couldn't possibly enjoy playing Rhiannon and You Make Loving Fun and Don't Stop every night for the next few years, unless he's lost his mind.
Then again, I might be totally wrong (I know, right). I never would have imagined that the blues-loving Rick Vito would have felt at home doing Stevie Nicks songs. But there he was, in 1994, joining her touring band (and doing good work, too). So who knows whether Campbell will stick around.

I think Finn and Campbell know full well they will/could get the boot at any time should cooler heads ever prevail and someone/where in the realm of the self inflated egos of the remaining members of the Rumours 5 somehow convince LB to ever give them the time of day ever again to actually do a proper farewell tour.....well Mike and Neil--buh bye.

It is weird, but I don’t have a lot of faith in the people who decide how that page is updated. I tried to put TPATH and D&B as related acts, but was told that two members had to be a part of it to be considered an associated act. Never got an answer as to how, based on that rule, Chicken Shack was deemed worthy to be listed.
I also see he put out a solo album a few months ago. Does he plan to support it?
It’s a duet album with his son (and features Mick), it came out about two weeks ago, and he’s doing some shows in Europe while Fleetwood Mac is on break between legs.

The longevity of this lineup remains to be seen. Neil and Mike have both said they were in it for the long haul, although it was a little less than convincing. But, what else would they have said? They could easily make worthwhile contributions to the band, but I’m almost as impressed as I am depressed by the uncanny ability of Fleetwood Mac to blow opportunities.
And Lord knows what Mike Campbell is going to do. His soul seems devoted to roots and blues (not pop), and I can't see Fleetwood Mac reinventing its music the way it did in the past. I don’t know about that. He co-wrote songs like “Heart of the Matter” and “Boys of Summer,” and says Kiln House is his favorite Fleetwood Mac album, so there’s at least some connection to pop for him. He’ll also be able to scratch his roots/blues itch with the Peter Green songs. Fleetwood Mac seems like a good fit for him.
