They are all brazen liars. Do you believe Christine when she says she only found out Lindsey "left" after she returned to London? They would fire their lead guitarist without telling the pianist and songwriter/singer? Please.

And we know, since there is video evidence, that what Stevie said about Lindsey wanting two years off is a whopping lie. And do you believe she doesn't take breaks between tours, that she goes right into the next project? Right  And the tour hasn't even started yet and already she is claiming she is "sad". If I didn't already think very low of these people I sure do now.

This is all so hilarious. So the tour starts in October. I wonder if this whole thing is a publicity stunt (that ALL 5 are involved in) and LB will “rejoin” in August or September either with or without Mike and Neil. Might as well add this scenario to all of the other conspiracy theories.

And it is amusing Mick won't use the word "fired" and used "impasse", which really means nothing. And he says the band reached a decision to move on without Lindsey, but Christine said she knew nothing till she reached London. So which is which? Did they have a group meeting, or did Mick and Stevie decide for the rest of the band? You can't have it both ways.

the fact that they booked 2 LA Forum shows tells me they're not worried about too much about a decline iin attendance. They could have just booked one to see how the sales would go and then added it later but they went ahead and put both shows on the tour list.

Lindsey fans should be stoked.
Maybe we could put a moratorium on telling people how fans of certain band members should and should not feel? Seems like this is where a lot of problems start on this board, not to mention the obvious (and overlooked, by this logic) fact that many "Lindsey fans" liked him being in Fleetwood Mac. Not trying to be rude, just trying to be helpful to the overall discourse here.

I hope posting things like this help you feel better. Really. If it does, then I suppose it's a good thing. Me, I'm just grateful all 5 are still in good health and able to perform, especially after reading about Billy Burnette being in the hospital for the past 9 days.

You seem to be trolling as of late. You're entitled to your opinion just like anyone else. Your posts tend to criticize other people's opinion, rather than have one of your own.
Example would be your post that people are hyper analyzing rather than say.. Hey I love the photo and I think.. xyz..
And if Stevie were fired.. Yes, it would be great for her solo career, but it would not be good to tarnish her legacy and contributions to the band. And if Mick lied about it, I would be upset. She's not my favorite member, but at least don't lie to me about it.

I count myself in that group. I don't buy solo albums by any of the other members, but I buy all of Lindsey's. On the other hand, I think Mick and John and Christine bring out the best in Lindsey's songs. For instance, listening to the original leaked solo version of GIFT OF SCREWS, the songs on which Mick and John play (not to mention Christine's vocals on tracks like "Steal Your Heart Away") stand out above most everything else that Lindsey has released as a solo artist. Those people just have a vibe when they play together that adds so much warmth and personality.
I love Lindsey's music, but it tends to lean toward the cooler temperatures. It's sometimes so perfectly executed and precise that it loses something intangible that the band brings out naturally.
I think that's why I enjoyed Lindsey's songs on the THIS IS 40 soundtrack so much. I mean, the songs themselves feel like they're a little undercooked, but the production is warm and organic thanks to Jon Brion (who, by the way, is ridiculously talented as a producer, composer, and artist---check out his album, MEANINGLESS). Lindsey has a tendency to mess with his own voice with vari-speed, effects, etc., but he has a great voice, and it shines through on those Brion-produced songs.
Oops. I'm getting off-topic. My point is that I will miss hearing Mick and John and Christine performing Lindsey's songs.

She came back for the 2015 On With The Show tour, and last year recorded an album with Buckingham that they supported with a long tour that wrapped up just five months ago. “I had a great time with him on the road and making that record,” she says. “I was surprised to hear the news because it happened after I went back to London that the decision was made. But life moves on and I wanted to carry on with these guys.”

For Nicks, carrying on without Buckingham is bittersweet. “Our relationship has always been volatile,” she says. “We were never married, but we might as well have been. Some couples get divorced after 40 years. They break their kids' hearts and destroy everyone around them because it’s just hard. This is sad for me, but I want the next 10 years of my life to be really fun and happy. I want to get up every day and dance around my apartment and smile and say, ‘Thank God for this amazing life.’”

". ..they've already decided that this tour will feature songs from the entire history of Fleetwood Mac, not just the original Buckingham/Nicks run from 1975 to 1987. “We were never able to do that since 1975 because certain people in the band weren’t interested in doing that,” says Nicks. “Now we’re able to open the set with a lot; a raucous version of [1969’s] ‘Rattlesnake Shake’ or something. I’d also like to do [1970’s] ‘Station Man,’ which has always been one of may favorites. We’re definitely doing [1970’s] ‘Oh Well.’”

It's not bittersweet. She couldn't stand working with him anymore so she gave Mick an ultimatum.
She didn't want him in her life anymore but instead of quiting the band (as any selfless person would do) she got him fired. Because SHE wants to be happy. She couldn't care less about how her wishes were going to affect those around her.

She’s an ass. Once they had written their own songs, I can’t say I blame Lindsey for not wanting to sing other people’s songs in lieu of his own. If she was so hell bent on doing the old stuff why didn’t she ever drop one of her own songs and do one? Christine has a trove of songs from before 1975 that she hasn’t touched in 40+ years in the context of Fleetwood Mac. “We’re definitely doing Oh Well...”...but I’ll be off stage changing my cape while they play it..

The we don’t have anything else to do line is so telling. I had to jump into the gossip crap but ever since Lindsey got himself a family, there’s an undertone of jealousy or just simple resentment from her. I love the music that they created but she has truly gotten so insufferable in the last 15 years that it’s hard to imagine.

The reality is...they may attempt to do station man, rattlesnake shake, and oh well as a nice little blues segment but once they see people run for the bathrooms within the first few shows, it will quickly be reduced to only doing oh well and this entire BS about doing all these things they never could do before will prove to be a giant crock of crapola.
I find it incredible that for how many years they worried about doing too many deep cuts from the Buckingham Nicks era, it's somehow ok to load the set with even more obscure material that will be even more obscure to the radio casual fans that will be at these shows. None of it adds up. That older material will be just as foreign to this audience as new material will be.
Oh wait...perhaps that was Lindsey's entire argument in the first place.
Another iconic lie. Had Lindsey not been performing Oh Well way past 1975?
Well she conveniently forgets that. It wasn’t until The Dance that “Oh Well” was jettisoned (save for ‘09). Those facts do not support her narrative.

I don't believe for a second Lindsey wanted to put the tour off until November 2019. Ridiculous. But what are they gonna say?
And she's contradicting herself. She's saying he wanted to postpone the tour and at the same time she's saying she wanted to be happy for the next 10 years. Meaning without any Lindsey drama. So, was it a coincidence that he wanted to postpone the tour? Please!

This is where I’m at too. She is as hypocritical as ever and her actions are beyond disappointing as far as this fan of Fleetwood Mac is concerned. I’m not a LB guy or a SN chiffonhead. I’m a Fleetwood Mac fan. I like these five people together - they bring out the best in each other musically. I won’t stop loving what they did in the past but I have no use for her or this sham of a touring “band.”
And to be clear, I think Mike Campbell is awesome and I’d have rather seen Lindsey join the Heartbreakers than this crap. And I had no idea who Neil Finn is other than knowing Don’t Dream It’s Over. I don’t blame these two guys at all. They’re getting paid to do a job that was offered to them.

I'm disappointed in her. I thought she was more principled than this, but I guess not. Shouldn't have been a surprise after the Bob Welch HOF fiasco, I suppose.
Yep. The Bob Welch fiasco was when I began to question my queen.
She's almost as big a liar as Stevie and Dick. The four of them can kiss my ass.

Let me get this straight, so it’s OK for Stevie to demand they tour only every three years, but if LB asks for one more year (and that would make it 4)he gets fired? I really loathe her.

Ugh. Ol Sourpuss Christine from the Dance is the real Christine!
As for Bob, I notice they didn’t mention any of those songs. From what I’ve heard of Neil, that’s where he’d actually sound right going into the pre-75 catalog. I can’t see the guy on some of the Peter Green era stuff at all.

Staying a bit off topic. I loved that 4 (mick,John, Christine, Lindsey) line up on BuckVie. I love having them playing together. The sound and chemistry is awesome.
Buck Vie is my favorite album since Mirage. Lots of FM magic on it.

Red Sun, Too Far Gone, OWTS, and Carnival Begin sit up there with anything they’ve done in the last 35 years IMO. If the Queen would’ve bothered to have any involvement I think it would’ve been one hell of a final Fleetwood Mac album. But instead it will just fade into obscurity while the band soldiers on with a cobbled together cash grab tour.

I'm really bitting my tongue, not saying what I want to say about Stevie.

You are onto something there. Lindsey needs to call up the rest of the Heartbreakers and strike a deal. They are a world-class band that can play just about any style he throws at them, and he already knows most of them.
I think it's unfortunate that some fans are being disrespectful to Mike and Neil, who were simply the guys who answered the phone and said, "Yes."
Even though FM, Crowded House, and TP and the Heartbreakers are three of my all-time favorite bands, I'm not sure that I'll go to the Houston show. But that has nothing to do with Neil and Mike. I think FM tickets are overpriced, I think they're greedy millionaires who insist on selling tickets months (sometimes up to 11 months) in advance of the shows, and they always do Amex pre-sales (I'm not an Amex customer).
But if they release an album, I'll most likely buy it!

Exactly! Makes me wonder if she knows that, now. That she f*cked up what would have been a beautiful swan song for them.
It's beautiful as it is, but it probably could sold at least a million with the FM name, and some goat breath on it.

I have to admit, if this is true, I think it was an unreasonable demand. November 2019 would be 13 months - over a year. Say what you like - "just a year" is a long time for most people.
Yes, it's true in the past Stevie has demanded they wait as long as that if not longer (she is why we didn't get a 2017 tour), and it's hypocritical for her to condemn Lindsey for it. She hasn't been the "team player" she's characterizing herself as for a long time.
But just because she makes such selfish demands doesn't mean he should do the same.
What puzzles me, though, is that if this is true, where is the term "firing" coming from? If this is all there is to it, it seems Lindsey would simply quit, no? "If you don't postpone the tour, I'm not coming." That's called quitting. That's not being fired.
"Firing" suggests something else.
I have a feeling this isn't the whole truth.
I'm not saying it's a bald-faced lie necessarily - I'd hate to think that - but perhaps the truth is being "massaged" and key facts left out. It just doesn't quite add up otherwise.

None of them do. I have been a fan for 35 years, and I am aware there are many people who have stuck by them far longer than that (I'm not that old  ), and this behaviour is the reward we get from them. People have spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on CD's, tour tickets, merchandising, etc. just to be flat out lied to, on national television no less. Don't buy any of it. It makes zero sense that Lindsey would put off a tour until 2019. The end of this year certainly but the end of 2019? No way.

For Nicks, carrying on without Buckingham is bittersweet. “Our relationship has always been volatile,” she says. “We were never married, but we might as well have been. Some couples get divorced after 40 years. They break their kids' hearts and destroy everyone around them because it’s just hard. "
So, this is really like Stevie and Lindsey finally getting a divorce after a 40 year marriage? So it IS about her?? And, like real married couples, they get divorced and it breaks their kids' hearts....... are WE the kids then? We have broken hearts because we're children and our parents are breaking up?
See, that might have worked in the past, when so many of us were a lot younger and less experienced. The difference this time, Stevie, is that we're all grown up, and we've got lots of our own life experiences, and we know how marriages work, and work relationships, and how business works. And we understand that this band has become just about business.
So we aren't just upset because mommy and daddy split up......even grown children come to realize their parents are better off apart than together and unhappy. What rankles is the WAY it was handled, where one partner went out of their way to screw the other one over. You know, like if mommy didn't split the house 50-50 with daddy but instead made sure she got all the property for herself.
As I type this a commercial for the tour just came on..... all about "THE LEGACY CONTINUES" and "ALL THE SONGS YOU KNOW AND LOVE"
That to me does NOT sound like a "NEW" band looking to be creative.....

I would be very afraid of that too. Except for the fact that Stevie watched people flood out of her shows during her many deep cuts and it didn’t phase her.

Hasn’t she been on record as saying she can’t see distance at all? Maybe she couldn’t see them running for the bathrooms when she played her clunker version of If You Were My Love toward the end of her set? A deep cuts show is always desired by band fanatics (of any band), but rarely works at an arena or stadium show where the tourists come to hear the hits and popular album cuts. I’m not seeing the people at a Fleetwood Mac show being as tolerant of an obscure set as people at a Pearl Jam or Bruce Springsteen concert.

the fact that they booked 2 LA Forum shows tells me they're not worried about too much about a decline iin attendance. They could have just booked one to see how the sales would go and then added it later but they went ahead and put both shows on the tour list.

If Lindsey had been replaced by anyone other than Mike Campbell, I don't think I'd be on board.
Fleetwood Mac was the greatest live show I had ever been to (on the Tusk tour and then again on the Mirage tour), until I saw the Heartbreakers play on the Hard Promises tour and a few years later.
We should all keep in mind that most Fleetwood Mac fans aren't on these boards and show up at concerts for the music. The drama makes for news, but after that it's about the songs.
Am I disappointed that Lindsey isn't on this tour?
Absolutely. Crushed, in fact.
But I can't live in the past and I don't need to shell out more money for another tired set of greatest hits.
Am I interested in the drama and the fights and the impasses? Not really -- I have my own life with very little free time.
Looking forward to what they come up with and can't wait for my kids to hear what Mike Campbell sounds like. They made me promise to get them tickets for this tour, so I'm hugely disappointed they'll miss Lindsey - but they got to see him on the Buckingham McVie tour last summer.

But tensions were building, Fleetwood said, because Buckingham would not sign off on a new tour they'd been planning for a year and a half.----- "Was Lindsey effectively fired?" Mason asked.
"Well, we don't use that word because I think it's ugly. And it's not a question that Lindsey has huge amounts of respect and kudos to what he's done within the ranks of Fleetwood Mac and always will," Fleetwood said. "But it's like a marriage that came to an end and there are reasons why. … But as a band we needed to move on and we have and that's —"

If all the angles that are angering people, this being a problem with fans puzzles me the most. What’s wrong with Stevie’s happiness being her own #1 priority? I think this concept of “she makes tons of money, she should not be selfish and do what the fans want the most” her happiness should absolutely be her #1 priority, especially at 70. And that meant her leaving the band or Lindsey at this point. And Mick chose to keep Stevie. It may not seem right at all, but I still maintain that Mick had the most power to do things differently. He catered to strvime s happiness. I really can’t fault her the most in this.

The band said no to this, so LB asked about pushing back the FM tour. They said no to that, too. He dug in, they dug in ("impasse"), and Mick fired him after getting buy-in from the McVies and Stevie.
I suppose this is all just a theory based on publicly available information, but it seems like the most likely series of events, to me at least.
And why did the band say 'no' if they were planning to start the tour on October?
And he certainly didn't ask to push back the FM tour for 2 years.

Stevie wanted Mike Campbell in the band because he can help her write.
I don't have a problem with that part, per se, as that's what bands do together. You see that in The Pretenders, No Doubt, etc, where a singer isn't a musician.
This struck me as interesting, coming from Christine: "The essence of the band was great and fun--and the three voices sound really good together. I'm really happy." She didn't say, "Lindsey was unfairly sacked," or anything close to that, and she was probably the closest of any of them to Lindsey for many years.

That's more of a whispering down the lane thing probably. Everyone adds a few months retelling the story that wasn't actually "released."

From January 2018 (when he was fired) until November 2019 is 23 months.

Right. I'm certainly not trying to justify why Mick, Stevie, Chris, and John did what they did. Was just trying to simply lay out what I think probably happened. I think the whole thing was handled horribly and is unjustified.
I also have a hard time believing he asked Fleetwood Mac to postpone until November 2019, but I suppose we'll have to hear from the man himself on that one? This is clearly the company line, as far as the band is concerned. Just doesn't pass the smell test (to me).

But he already told in that video after Musicares that he was planning on doing both tours at the same time. He clearly wasn't expecting to get fired.
We are so lucky to have that video! Really lucky. If not, they will probably get away with their lies.
Very thankful for the video. Not sure if the person who shot the video posts here but I want to tell them THANK YOU!

This is all so hilarious. So the tour starts in October. I wonder if this whole thing is a publicity stunt (that ALL 5 are involved in) and LB will “rejoin” in August or September either with or without Mike and Neil. Might as well add this scenario to all of the other conspiracy theories:
You know, I think you could be on to something. This was one of my first thoughts at the beginning of this who fiasco. I do not think Lindsey will rejoin for this tour at all. However, it sets the stage for a FINAL farewell tour with the Rumours 5 in 2020/2021. Think of the publicity. Lindsey returns for the FAREWELL TOUR to end all farewells. It would keep them on the road for the better part of two years, playing all US markets twice.
It is quiet possible that Finn and Campbell know that they're just filling in. They were sitting around needing to make some money, so why not? It gives Buckingham time to do his solo thing and spend time with family. We could all be fools. The publicity stunt to end all.

majority rules in this band
but Chris didn't know about it because she's in london?
so that leaves Stevie, Mick and John
and do we REALLY think John cares about his say?

John doesn't care about much. I think he has very little say about what goes on. Furthermore, he doesn't care. His motto is, "JUST TELL ME WHAT TIME TO SHOW UP. MAKE SURE I HAVE COMFORTABLE ACCOMMODATIONS AND SOME DECENT MUSICIANS ONSTAGE, AND I'LL JUST PLAY THE SAME BASS PARTS I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR 50 YEARS." "What time is dinner? Get me back to the hotel to relax and smoke a blunt. Is my boat nearby?"

Fleetwood Mac Detail New Tour and Talk Life After Lindsey Buckingham
In their first interview since firing their longtime guitarist, the group discusses balancing lingering tensions with an expanded live palette
Fleetwood Mac discuss life after Lindsey Buckingham and plans for their massive, upcoming tour.
Randee St Nicholas
By Andy Greene
A little over a month ago, the majority of Fleetwood Mac – Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood – quietly gathered at a little theater in Maui with their future in doubt. The band had secretly parted ways with Lindsey Buckingham, the longtime guitarist and voice behind many of their most enduring songs. According to the group, the split came down to a scheduling conflict surrounding a world tour. “We were supposed to go into rehearsal in June and he wanted to put it off until November [2019],” says Nicks. “That’s a long time. I just did 70 shows [on a solo tour]. As soon as I finish one thing, I dive back into another. Why would we stop? We don’t want to stop playing music. We don’t have anything else to do. This is what we do.”

Lindsey Buckingham's firing is just the latest in a decades-long game of musical chairs for the Hall of Fame band
So instead, they invited Mike Campbell, the former guitarist of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Crowded House frontman Neil Finn and spent a few days workshopping tunes from their vast catalog to see if this new lineup had the right chemistry. “I immediately felt like I’d known them for years,” says Christine McVie, “even though we’d only just met.”
The new lineup will embark on a massive 52-date tour beginning October 3rd in Tulsa and criss-crossing the country before wrapping up in Phladelphia in April 2019. Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, May 4th at 10 a.m. local time. (A complete itinerary is listed below.) The group also announced the launch of a SiriusXM channel devoted to the band beginning Tuesday, May 1st.
Nobody in the group is quite willing to say Buckingham was “fired,” but they don’t completely object to the term. “Words like ‘fired’ are ugly references as far as I’m concerned,” says Fleetwood. “Not to hedge around, but we arrived at the impasse of hitting a brick wall. This was not a happy situation for us in terms of the logistics of a functioning band. To that purpose, we made a decision that we could not go on with him. Majority rules in term of what we need to do as a band and go forward.” Buckingham did not respond to multiple requests for comment for this story.
"Majority rules in term of what we need to do as a band and go forward" - Mick Fleetwood
Buckingham’s ousting marks the latest messy chapter in the ongoing 50-year Fleetwood Mac story – or, as drummer Mick Fleetwood tells it, business as usual. When key early members like Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer left the group in the early 1970s, Fleetwood got right on the phone and recruited new ones. The group never stopped working, even when Nicks left in the early 1990s and a new lineup found themselves opening up for the likes of REO Speedwagon on the state fair circuit. “There’s no doubt that my instincts, for better or worse, have always been to gravitate towards going forward,” Fleetwood tells Rolling Stone. “Having said that, I’d be lying if I didn’t literally say to myself, ‘This one needs a lot of thought.’”
One of the first people that came to mind was Campbell, who was at his home on the Hawaiian island of Kauai when the call came. It happened to be his 68th birthday. “I was sitting in my yard by my pool contemplating my future without my partner [Tom Petty], which was going to be a dark place in a lot of ways,” he says. “ I said, ‘Give me a day to think it over.’ The more I thought about it, the more I though it could be great. I’ve known Stevie for years and we’ve always been very creative together.”

Rob Sheffield on Why the Latest Fleetwood Mac Breakup Is Peak Mac
The band's firing of Lindsey Buckingham might be the most quintessential chapter yet in the band's epic saga of dysfunction
Not long after getting a commitment from Campbell, Fleetwood called up Finn at his New Zealand home. The singer had enormous success in the 1970s and 1980s with his bands Split Enz and Crowded House, but he was now earning a comfortable living as a solo artist with a devoted cult following. Getting back in the arena rock game was the last thing on his mind. “I was stunned when I got the call from Mick,” he says. “I was enjoying my life and my music, but I have a restless nature and now I’m relishing this beautiful gift that’s been given to me.”
The group has yet to begin formal rehearsals - which they say will last two months working five days a week - but they've already decided that this tour will feature songs from the entire history of Fleetwood Mac, not just the original Buckingham/Nicks run from 1975 to 1987.
How does this all feel to bassist John McVie, the guy that put the “Mac” in Fleetwood Mac but speaks so infrequently that most fans don’t even know what his voice sounds like? “I felt very comfortable when we rehearsed,” he says. “It seemed to fit. It’s another exciting chapter in the book, in the saga.”
The expanded set, however, doesn’t mean they’ll be neglecting the big radio hits like “Gold Dust Woman” and “The Chain.” “There are 10 hits we have to do,” says Nicks. “That leaves another 13 songs if you want to do a three-hour show. Then you crochet them all together and you make a great sequence and you have something that nobody has seen before except all the things they want to see are there. At rehearsal, we’re going to put up a board of 60 songs. Then we start with number one and we go through and we play everything. Slowly you start taking songs off and you start to see your set come together.”
"This is sad for me, but I want the next 10 years of my life to be really fun and happy" - Stevie Nicks
The band realizes that a Fleetwood Mac tour without Buckingham will be a different experience, but they soldiered on without him on the 1987 Tango In The Night tour and didn’t see a big decline in attendance. They also had 16 years of successful road work without Christine McVie when she left in 1998.
