She doesn’t sound averse to new music for the first time in 15 years... makes you wonder if Tom’s passing might have shifted her paradigm. Either that, or she’s simply on her best behavior since this is a charity honoree thing.

Or she realized that she f*cked up by not turning BVie into a FM album. And saw how much they loved doing it and the tour.

Don't they have a tour booked already? "we're open..." Weird.

I agree. She and Mick always love creating drama, whether it's true or not.

Honestly, I'd rather have another BuckVie album and tour.

I think she's just on her best behaviour. Nothing there suggests any interest in new music, it's just the wrong event to say that she doesn't want to record any more.

Exactly. She also took no interest in promoting the big Mac world tour. She played her "I don't know anything" card ;)

That was my main concern, that she didn't say boo about the tour. I expect her to pretend to be open to new music with the Mac (she isn't) but being mum on the new tour? Is the tour signed on the dotted line? Does anyone know? I'm personally not going to see another cash grab tour, but I'm curious as to why she would pretend they have no idea what's happening in 2018.

Pretty sure the tour is cemented. I remember them saying they'd signed on the dotted line.
I wonder if she's intimating she's free later in the spring so she could do some recording...
...but Stevie, Lindsey has his album coming out. I hope you don't want him to shelve it.

Hey I still want to see one more album with the 5 of them. Don't think it will happen but ya never know. We will see all those tracks of Lindsey's eventually. How many times has a FM album started as a LB solo album? Pretty much everyone since the early days.

You make a great point about a FM album starting as a LB album. As far as the FM tour goes I thought it was a done deal. Listen to the last min of this interview (posted by button-lip). Lindsey says "it's not on the books yet, we're talking about it". He sounds casual, maybe they've all agreed to the tour but just haven't signed on the dotted line.

Why he just doesn't say.....Once Stevie decided not to be a part of the project we couldn't call it a Fleetwood Mac record. PERIOD!

I'm thinking she's just in that place of getting off the road and in the state of mind of - "I get to sleep when I want!" "I get to eat when I want!" etc...to come down from being on the freakin road! And— she's starting to process TP's passing.
The last thing on her mind is talking about going back on the road. Or anything to do with work. It's exhausting and draining. Give the girl a break and let her take a breath.

I doubt the band sits and books the tour. Other pros do that. Stevie probably just hasn’t seen a final schedule, hence her answer. Didn’t some media reports say a late 2018 tour? We may not hear thing until March/April if then.

jbrownsjr

I believe they are just in that state where the details haven't been approved or finalized so why speculate. She's rich.. and she's going to Hawaii for Feb/Mar.

That is what she knows. Can't fault her for that.

But she wasn't specifically asked if they band will do another album, and she didn't say: "I won't do another album"

I personally believed she won't do another album with the band, so there won't be a new FM album. But I have faith in another BM album. No matter how many friends pass away. It's just the way she feels right now.

I'm going on a quote u made on FB about Lindsey's album coming out in April. My guess is he wants to tour for that before they start rehearsing the FM tour. And I also get the impression from LB that he really is not in the mood to do a long FM tour. He seems so detached from the band these days.

I agree. I think he had enough of 80 dates of not being creative.

With BuckVie he was able to write, produce, perform with Christine and still have a financially healthy product.

When I saw him at the BuckVie Q/A he said going back to CitiField and Dodgers stadium during BuckVie tour was a "mind****". And he didn't put a positive spin on that.

I don't know Lindsey's worth but surely he doesn't need money. He might not have the hits of Stevie or Christine but he gets an equal album sales cut (and them some due to his producer cut).
As far as hits are concerned, surely Go Your Own Way is just about the most played Fleetwood Mac song...isn't it?

What does he have in the bank? £60 mill +

(more if he manages to flog his house).

He says they've tentatively scheduled a FM tour for "the end of 2018." We've heard rumors of a Lindsey album coming out as early as this April.

So I'm confused about how people are twisting Stevie's vacation comments here... If she's on vacation for the next two months and her schedule is open after that, how does that in any way invalidate a 2018 tour? We've heard from Stevie, Christine, Mick and Lindsey regarding a 2018 or 2019 tour so it looks like they're all on the same page that it will happen, they just haven't hammered down exact dates yet. Lindsey's comments seem to indicate that he has a solo album, a new Buckingham McVie album and a Fleetwood Mac tour, as well as possible smaller tours, all in the works.

I'm all for the new BuckVie album, but we need a smaller FM tour for that to happen. I sincerely hope they are already working on it, since Lindsey already finished his solo album and of course there won't be a new FM album for the next tour.

Those two make me so happy, I really hope they keep doing it until they no longer can.:woohoo:

And yes, no matter how much Stevie likes us to think "everybody is happy to see each other" after a three years hiatus. We know it's nothing like that  You can know it just by looking at Lindsey's face in comparison to the BuckVie tour.

Honestly, to me, the BuckVie shows felt like a poor man's Fleetwood Mac. I could tell the new songs had been designed for a Fleetwood Mac album and they were forced to fill a gap without her there for that harmony. Little Lies without Stevie left such a hole people around me were singing her part during the chorus. It only made me want a Fleetwood Mac tour more.

I know I have no one but Stevie to blame for the fact that we didn't have one before. I desperately hope she doesn't pull out again....but I don't think she will. Too much money is on the table.

there may not even be any $100 tix for FM, if judging by prices for other artists of their generation already on sale touring this year. then again, maybe those other artists are saturating the "legends" market and FM will come in too late so won't be able to demand those prices. Radio City tix wsre definitely not going like hot cakes at the crazy prices, even though that was a much smaller venue, and for charity, with all those other huge names attached to the event.

watching videos from Musicares reminds me of something i so dislike about FM shows - i see a video of the Chain where John or Lindsey are doing a guitar solo and the fan with camera zooms in on Stevie just standing in the middle of the stage instead (of course for the chain Harry was there so they all just zoomed in on him and ignored FM all together lol). or i see a video of Tusk and instead of Chris-Linds little accordion-guitar dance fan's camera follows Stevie just walking away. or during GYOW instead of Chris-Lindsey interaction or Lindsey playing guitar solo, again - fan's camera follows Stevie just walking around. during BuckVie tour, i actually got to see those solos in fan videos. i actually got to see Chris-Linds Tusk interactions.

GYOW, however much in its core is a kiss-off song for LB-SN relationship, received a completely new life on stage with a little play Chris and Lindsey would do during shackin' up line, with the bat. i miss that when i see the stale version of the FM dynamic on stage now. i see Chris taking a bat out at the beginning of the song, but has nowhere to actually use it! ;)

Not sure why anyone would think new music is on the way. If they can't agree on radio station or a tour, why would a new album be in the works?

I have no idea what the issues are; but if i were a guessing man....

LB has to scrap plans due to FM tour and rehearsals. (I mean look at the time line) If he wanted to get this music out he should have released it now (with a small tour). But then there are changes at his record company. So who knows the business of that fiasco.

Mick wants it to be a long tour and CM/LB want a year or less. That way, BuckVie II can happen.
SN will do what Mick wants because she see numbers like Mick and that's important to her.
JM will do whatever Mick tells him because he's made it clear he plays bass and doesn't even like being in the studio for more than a few takes.

I wouldn't mind if Stevie went solo and actually wrote another album. Christine did blues or another BuckVie album. LB did his solo album and tour. Mick and John and Christine do a blues album with Eric Clapton. (dreaming!)

But another 2 year greatest hits and Stevie talking, and rehearsed speeches? blahhhhhhh it's so tired.

Agreed on all your alternatives to a long Mac tour (that blues one in particular would be mind blowing, just with mike Campbell in my scenerio . The only way a long no new music tour would be ok and even something to really look forward to is if stevie Lindsey and Christine take all their cool creative set list ideas from their solo/duo tours and infuse them into the Mac set list.

It's weird that Lindsey and Stevie were holding hands on stage (arm in arm actually) for the Music Cares event while Mick and Christine were speaking. Are they always faking it? Or are they faking that they hate each other? One never knows with them. Could they be faking the hate to add drama?

Remember, no matter how bad it gets between them, Stevie and Lindsey went from playing high school parties in San Francisco to becoming international rock legends together, and a night where they were being honored for their music, which largely documents that journey, had to be an awe inspiring moment that they could only share with each other. I can imagine Lindsey having a moment where he looked at his 17 year old daughter and 19 year old son, looked at Stevie, realized they were roughly that age when they started, looked at the crowd, thought about what the event was for, and got lost in the totality of the moment.

That said, my take on the drama between them is that Stevie (and Mick, for that matter) exaggerates the drama to the point where it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Lindsey played along during the years Christine was gone for the sake of the band. After Christine came back, he quit playing along. He had a collaborator, and Stevie kind of lost her power in the situation as far as he was concerned. I’ll be curious to see what their chemistry is like on the next tour.

It would never happen, but I would love to see a tour with the Heartbreakers, Stevie, and Chris Stapleton. His version of Learning to Fly that he did after Tom's death was awesome, as was his Grammy tribute. But he of course has his own amazing stuff going on.

I have lost all interest in a FM tour. Paying ridiculous price to watch either tense interaction or phoniness is not appealing, as much as I would love to see them one last time.

They seem more creative apart than together. So be it.

I'd love to see a 4 piece like Steve said. The duo is great. Stevie needs to get off her butt and write another solo album. Circa Wild Heart.. some nice beautifully crafted pop... maybe Jimmy will jump in with her. Do a tune with the Heartbreakers..

My point in posting that is to wonder how much of their drama is real. Not for any other reason.

you know, if we are talking about drama, i think a lot of it is real. these are weird, self-centered, over-indulged people who achieved tremendous success and made tons of money, so they could hire people who had to listen to them and stroke their egos. Lindsey once said that criteria for mental illness and who'd be termed "crazy" is very different out in the real job world vs if you are in a successful rnr band. i think although they stopped doing drugs and alcohol and seem to be mostly living very health-conscious lives, that drama and push pulls between FM band members (probably helped by their managers and lawyers) is very much still there and that's why every time they want to do something - an album, a tour, they all have different opinions and it goes in circles way longer than it should before anything gets done. but i guess they made it like that through the last 40+ years so they'll probably get it somewhat together for a possibly one last tour too. or maybe they won't, who knows?

My point in posting that is to wonder how much of their drama is real. Not for any other reason.

I know. I think SnL love drama. I think they just don’t know how to live without it. Maybe Lindsey was mad or moody at Musicares but Stevie was not the reason. Who knows. They’re complicated people (SnL, the Brits are fine!).
It’s gonna be an interesting tour, that’s for sure... if we ever get one.

Isn't it funny how no SANE person would ever think that, yet ~some~ fans eat it up, when they can apply it to you know who?

I don’t think it’s a matter of fans’ sanity, I think the Stevie-Lindsey drama became the primary storyline used to market the band since it was clear Christine was done at the conclusion of the project. Otherwise, THIS picture wouldn’t have been one of the primary images used to market “The Dance.”

I disagree, I always see it as Lindsey laying on the over the top affection....kissing her hands and head, rubbing her back, Eskimo kisses, saying I love yous....the lot. Its seldom Stevie being 'sloppy datey'. That's what sets the shippers off, as he's the married one so it doesn't make sense why he is so much more intimate than her?

Maybe in 1997, but not so much on the 2009 and 2013 tours. He seemed to be begrudgingly playing along, at least to me. Notice how he’s been kind of quiet about Stevie since Christine came back.

It's an interesting point because you had a few fans that were absolutely enraged when Christine came back. And felt she completely ruined SNL relationship.

The marketing worked. I would read hate posts on a B/N page about Christine. It was quite hilarious.

He bit her shoulder on the 2013 Nashville concert and Stevie didn't even blink. On the 2015 NZ concert (the last of the tour) their goodbye after the last song was out of a love movie.

I don't think Lindsey was playing along.

Yes, and I remember at that time some turd posted a YouTube video claiming Christine was a 70 year old transvestite who wormed her way back into the band and brought it down.

I'm bumping this because it's fascinating to watch this again knowing all we know now. This is the night of Musicares, and when asked what the band will be doing next, Stevie stumbles ever so slightly and then says she doesn't know. That she's going off to Hawaii for 2 months because she's tired, she's just done 70 shows on her solo tour and she doesn't know what the band will be doing but they're all "free" going forward.

Now square this with the post-firing of Lindsey where they insist they had the tour all set and ready to go.

Exactly! I couldn't give a flying **** about the Stevie and Lindsey romantic charade. It's about the music to me. I think most of us have known it's been "over" between those two for a LONG time, with the exception of maybe Stevie, in her fairy tale mindset. I'm really puzzled as to why you're placing the blame on Lindsey for the oldies road show. He was the one who wanted to keep FM a creative and viable group, not your precious Stevie Nicks. Maybe Stevie could've left the band and FM wouldn't have been an oldies road show. Stevie didn't want to work with Lindsey, it wasn't the other way around. I think you've been highly unfair to Mr. Buckingham, based soley on your assumption that he's done something so totally out of line to her to cause his dismissal. Where is your proof? Do you not understand the dynamics of this band and the characteristics of all of them? You know Mick and Stevie had an affair whilst they were still in the band together? And Mick just so happened to be married at the time? What makes you think Lindsey is the evil perpetrator here? How do you feel about a man who cheats on his wife and a woman who repeatedly has affairs with married men? What does that say about their characters?

Like your side's argument that because Lindsey had some violent/verbally abusive tendencies between 1970whenever and 1987, he MUST have done something unspeakable to have been canned:rolleyes: it just couldn't have been the rumored ultimatum of an insecure egomaniac who's worst traits have strengthened rather than softened with age, backed by a greedy financial idiot afraid of his cash cow flying out the window.

That doesn't sound like the personification of pure evil- it sounds like a very plausible scenario put into motion by two people who have questionable character & self absorbed motives.

Regarding why Stevie would wait until now to exact her payback on Lindsey for whatever nastiness he perpetrated towards her in the past, there is an old saying: "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

In other words, if you want to really get back at someone, don't do it, don't "serve it up to them" when you are hot, angry, really in the emotional upset phase. Wait. Let things, and let yourself, cool down. When your emotions are calmer, cooler, you can make a more rational decision. You can be more cold, hard, calculating if you are not still worked up and emotional. Wait. Carefully. Let the other person and everyone else think the fuss is over. And when you are not all fired up by emotions, you can plot an even more cold revenge.

I don't know if Stevie actually spent recent 30 years plotting out how to get her revenge, but boy when she saw her chance, she did not for one second let it go by. She jumped on it. She wasn't thinking about the longterm legacy of the band, she wasn't thinking about hey this is one last go with these guys and I'm free. She clearly still harbored resentments to Lindsey.

And I actually think she's harbored resentments or whatever towards LB since the SYW album. She's put up roadblock after roadblock every step of the way since then to NOT do anything more than the cash grab tours with this band. NOTHING else. Mick publicly groveled at her feet to get her to do stuff, LB publicly groveled, writing songs to her (the EP and even on SYW) and was very careful in interviews to say complimentary things etc. When groveling wasn't enough Mick gave interviews blaming her for the death of the band, etc. In fact, to me, Mick publicly shamed her about this a thousand times moreso than LB did. Why isn't she mad at him?

In any event, the opportunity came, and she took it. I don't think AT ALL that her actions were caused by Tom's death, or that she is "acting out of grief". Stevie is very clever, and she knows a good opportunity when she sees one. Tom's death just gave her a plausible cover for justifying taking her revenge finally.
