View Full Version : The Death of the Ledge? Open letter to Admins and Owner

What is happening? I am putting this here so more people see it.

Ive been coming hereon and off since I was 17, back in 1997 when The Mac came BACK from the dead. NOW things are not so good here and I can't find a Contact on the main site anymore for the owner of this site.

The Ads or Popups are out of control. it is Literally killing this board. Is it malicious spam from Asia trying to install back doors and worms on peoples computers? I am on a MAC so I am unaffected by such things, but is that really how to run a website?

For over a month I could not even get on to check this site until I installed several Popup and Ad blockers. Other people have said the same thing. Some people are willing to wait the EONS it takes to SOMETIMES get onto the site and read and post.

The traffic drop is obvious. Few new posts. Fewer people browsing.

This site is DYING. the writing is on the wall. People will go elsewhere for their NicksFix and MacAttacks. Facebook... wherever.

I have posted about the problem a couple times in other threads on Chit Chat and so far nobody seems to have addressed the problem.

Please Address this problem and save this website, the historical information and messages for FUTURE ledgies.

My best advice is to just hang in there. The new owner seems to be an anonymous source. Traffic will pick up again when Lindsey starts his tour and when FM begin the rehearsals for their upcoming world tour.

I’d like to think this will be so....but I’m not sure.
I don’t long on as often...it takes too long.
Eventually I’ll cut right down till log-on speed is back to normal...
It’s too much hassle....😢😢😢😢
As you say we will look elsewhere...

And, it IS what it is.

Free sites like FB have taken a big toll on band sites.

So, if the new owner bought it only to sell ad space, there's absolutely nothing we can do about it(unless you want to make him an offer for the site - it might be far less than it would've been a decade ago[well, that's guaranteed]). But again, if the OWNER doesn't give AF, crying isn't going to get us anywhere....

I thought about posting something like this several weeks ago. Traffic and posts are way down on the site. Do the moderators have any contact with the owner? The site is slowly dying.

I fear any pick-up in traffic will be short-lived. Realistically this will be the last FM tour. I'm sure there'll be some Ledge discussion then but after that's done....

I wonder how much it costs to maintain such a site (not for profit)????

Like vivfox said, posts will become more frequent once Lindsey's and FM's tours start.

I'd hate for this site to die. I know many will be more than happy.

I was wondering the same thing, but it seems like nobody cares, so what's the point?

I'm wondering too if suscriptions will still be automatically renewed, given than nobody seems to be in charge.

I think you are missing the point I was making. Lack of interest has nothing to do with the number of posts going down. Its the access to the site. When I just logged in it took 1:22 for the site to load. Many don't have such patience to read and post on a site that seems to be bogged down or offline when you try to access it. It seems to be getting worse IMHO.

Surely it's a bit of both though. The Ledge is never going to have the sort of active membership it may have once had due to other social media options. Interest picked up a bit at various times over the past year with various releases and tours etc. However, even then participation hasn't been great. It will pick up again over the next year when aforementioned activities take place. Traffic has, and will continue to be affected due to the load times, but even if there were no advertising at all there still wouldn't be huge numbers coming here.

(I've only been a member for a couple of years- long after its heyday). But in my opinion The Ledge has lost contributors due to;

1) Proliferation of other social media forums
2) It's not always a nice place to discuss things
3) Long load times

In that order of relevence

I'm not missing the point. If you have lost interest, you don't wait 1:22 for the site to load and you don't post. I can wait forever because I haven't lost interest and because I xan do other things while waiting.

But like FuzzyPlum said, many have also lost interest because they feel attacked or they feel their beloved band member is being attacked.

Let me be (even more) clear. I log into this site EVERY DAY even with the ridiculous long waits. However there are times I do give up especially on my phone. It just will not load on my phone. I have noticed that since these problems there have been a decline in posts. Many posted this months ago and they left. As someone that comes here every day I see this. There are days now with no one posting a thing. That never happened before. Usually there is at least a new thread or someone commenting on an old thread. I just don't buy the coincidence that this decline just happened the same time the site was sold and went under attack. I still come here EVERY DAY, multiple times a day. The fans here are very seasoned and better than any other site. There is not a lack of interest. There is more Mac material lately than ever. We just came off one of the biggest years eve. I have given up coming here a few times because of the wait and that is coming from someone who probably spends WAY too much time here. I don't get defensive in needing to defend the site. I also don't believe for a second there is a better Mac site out there who has better followers.

I visit often On my iPhone as well. There were times I could not get the site to load at all. Time out errors. I finally broke down and installed a ad block and pop up blocker App and like on the desktop it solved the problem. People who are smart enough to have such Programs on their computers and iPhones will still be able to use this site but many people won’t bother coming here at all.

no.

no band activity will make it come back. because however much people might be interested, unless they install pop-up blockers on their mac devices and phones, they cannot even access the site. and on other devices, loading is incredibly slow and then it times out.

there's band activity right now. tons of performers plus Bill Clinton added to MusiCares as a presenter of the award. yet the site is dead. because we cannot even see it.

Well everyone sure makes me glad I don't try to access this site on my phone! With my 5 y.o. laptop, Windows 10, Google Chrome browser I've been able to access the site without any problems, just like I have for years, without any noticeable difference.
As a long time member I will say: the traffic here DOES ebb & flow. Just when you think it's gonna tank another wave of posts and conversations come along. And I'm sure other social media has taken some people away.
I will be REAL SAD if the day comes along when we see the end to the Ledge!:distress::distress::distress:

I found a way in through an old link on my old computer but I was unable to load the Ledge properly all this time since whenever I was last on. (Just checked: 01-25-2017, so almost a year ago). Something titled lapi.ebay.com... is where things stop and load no more. Even now I can only load the newest thread listed per each section.

Anyway, I guess I've not been the only one.

This makes sense. What I think is happening is that the Ads are asking for access to secure data and cookies and other personal files on the computers to research your browsing history and refine the content of the specific ads we each see. Something it broken. The other thing that could be wrong is that the portal created by the ads are looking for security vulnerabilities on the system and tryin to get root access. I have worked in IT for 20 years. You can get infected with ad bots and spyware and malicious programs, password recorders and ALL that JUST by loading a JPG ad on a website that is allowing Ads to be posted. The other thing that could be wrong is the code is bad, with redirects upon redirects. Whatever is happening needs an expert in HTML, php

I agree with this however I would put reason #2 as reason #1. I know of 15-20 folks that used to come here on a daily basis that refuse to come back because of the nastiness that has become The Ledge. It is truly sad...this board was quite the deal when I first joined.

I have to agree with a lot of this. I took a break from The Ledge while I was in college, but I was on here almost every day back in 2010/11 at the ripe old age of 15. I couldn't see myself doing that now - a lot of bitterness (which is fine, everyone's entitled to their own opinions of course, I just don't think I would have wanted to be around those vibes).

I spend the most of my time now on Twitter. It's much easier to have a conversation because it's all instantaneous. News can spread faster, media is easier to share, and the user interface is better.

That being said, I hope The Ledge continues on. It was how I made some of my first FM friends and found a space for me online where I could actually connect with people. Whether I was ranting about fights I was getting in with my mom or getting into silly discussions about which Lindsey era I loved more, The Ledge was always there for me and I really miss it.

I use Firefox with an ad blocker and I never see an ad on the Ledge.

I also have a direct link to the forums bookmarked. I never go to the homepage of the site. (Is there a homepage on the site?) I never have to wait to get into the forums page. It's pretty much, click the link, I'm in.

As for Facebook and Twitter, the problem is the superficiality of the "discussion." Here's a typical FB post: "I saw Lindsey & Christine last night and they were awesome." Here on the Ledge you get longer posts, more in depth commentary, MUCH more interesting dialogue.

It is very literally true that the existence of the Ledge (and, before that, the message board on the old Christine site around the time of the release of 'In the Meantime') has sustained my interest in this band. Without having the in depth and thoughtful discussion here, I honestly think my interest in Fleetwood Mac altogether would have waned long ago.

As for the fact that some folks here are a little rude sometimes, are fans really that thin skinned that they can't take a little silly insulting of their musical heroes? If that's the case, that's really kinda sad. I'd much rather have that than sycophantic hero worshipping.

I often find that the folks that complain about rudeness or nastiness are the same ones that aren't really cordial unless you agree with them. Not all, but most cases. I have made some stellar friends here and hope I continue to do so.

I am using Chrome and don't have many problems like being reported.
Also, I find that the ads are usually my google searches.

In my case, Twitter isn't better than TL when it comes to fights. I have been blocked by some nice ladies, just because they didn't like what I said on my timeline. You can find them everywhere, not just here. And don't let me start on IK! :D

I'll definitely make some time to update my browser, see if i need newer ad blocking stuff.

Fleetwood Mac is many groups with one rhythm section and almost endlessly fascinating to me. So many unique and high quality artists throughout the whole history. Even someone I might get along with least if they ever cared enough to post here about any aspect of any of the line-ups we have in common that we appreciate some of the same things, we're all sort of related no matter what. You only see that with a few long-running groups, like The Grateful Dead. It's woven into your life and you cannot really leave the chain?

95% of the time, I have NO problem getting on here. No lag or anything. On phone or computer.

This isn't the online world that it was 15 years ago, and(unfortunately) the ledge(or any other band site) will ever return to the glory that it once was.

I can't say this about all Russian ladies but...
One of my friends works with a guy who met
and then married one of Russia's best. And I'd
bet you could guess what eventually happened.

I'd be glad to comment on old Hillary, but I'm sure
that the comment would be moved to the netherworld
of the Ledge. Which is without a doubt the "Chit-Chat"
section. Where all post and threads go to die.

Hi - I don’t think popups are the reason this board is dead and sucks. I think the main reason is that nearly every thread turns into obnoxious misogynistic backslapping posts between a couple of guys about Stevie. I came to the board last year interested in intelligent discussion about my favorite band but quickly saw no need to waste time on such a pathetic board. Meaningful criticism and debate about the band and its members would be fine but that’s not what exists here.

That’s a nice opinion. That’s how the Ledge has been since I started in 1997. Let’s not forget the Black Ledge incident of 1998.

But that is not why people can’t get on and had not been able to get on for three or four months. Traffic dropped considerably.

My point is the board goes in cycles. There are lifers, and people like me who were obsessed and here daily for hours all night. Yes. The Black
Ledge scared a bunch of people away from the cyber bullying including someone I was good friends with and a very pretty girl that I went to the first show of Enchanted tour with. (Front row) I was 17-20 years old. I got a “life” finally and became more an lurker. I’ve seen ups and down years here. This was an UP year with the Stevie and BM tours. Both Ledge forums were much deeper until the Ads got out of hand. You can already see that traffic is WAY up from the number of guests that show up as currently browsing and people logged in. I agree with your points, but really, imo, when facebook and the like took the world by storm, that was THE major hit to all sites like this. We'll never see the heyday(for me, like 2004/2005) like we had back then. And that has nothing to do with ads, or a dinosaur band, or as*holes here. The times have changed, and technology with it.

From what I remember, it was sort of an "underground" Ledge started by people who had either been banned by the original Penguin/Ledge owner/moderator, or left on their own accord when others were banned. Lots of the content was geared toward knocking/bashing the "real" Ledge. The incident I think eventually lead to the Ledge being shut down for a few months as a sort of cooling off period, then re-launching around '99 or '00 in the format we have today.

That was pretty much the way 3 other boards were started. Sort of...
"Seven Wonders" began as a result of a Ledge crash. It was down for a couple days?, and we had so much traffic then, people were freaking out, so it(SW) began as a "free message board". But it rapidly turned into a Stevie worship site. If you dared say ANYTHING bad about her, you were banned from the board.

There were two other "underground" boards like Black Ledge. The first? was Horsemanity(one of the things that caused the 2007 exodus was that the mods[one in particular] were out of control. One night, one person asked a bunch of us to put a pic of the backside of a horse as our sig pic. I think 17 of us did, and 13 got temporarily banned[no explanation why 4 people didn't] The bans were lifted after only a day or so, but people were PISSED, so we left). That group went on for a while, until we figured out that there was a spy in the group. So that group was abandoned, and a new group was started, called Homanity, obviously excluding the spy.

That said, ^, in retrospect, those two groups were MEAN. I mean, I know I can dish it out, but the groups were too mean for me. Hate and snark, 24/7. A few of us left the group after a while, because it was a very negative place to be. I used to have it bookmarked, but can't find it now. Hopefully it died. There was one instigator who was behind both groups, the horse's ass pic we all posted,...all of it! It took YEARS until they finally banned her from The Ledge. Her name starts with a C...

I already know I'll regret it, but what't the "Black Ledge"?

Lets see.. I think it was around 1998. Summer-ish? It was before I left Connecticut and that was June 1998, So before that.

Anyhow, the way I remember it was that there were two "Factions" The Stevie Poopin', Pro-PeterGreen crowd, and the Stevie lovers. It was not that the ANti Stevie were all that Anti or the Pro were all that Pro. It was like it is now. One would and could say mean things like Discuss her alleged Abortions and how Street Angel sucked and the other would have none of it. Same story as now. Same musical, different cast.

The Anti-Stevies got to the point they were being nasty to some of the Stevie people. There were Clicks for sure. This was at the same time we were mailing Dubbed cassettes (remember those!?) between members for access to Bootlegs before MP3. Im not sure who started it, but the meanness and nastiness resulted in some Bans and some people getting upset. So one of the the members created another BBS (Ebullition Board System) identical to the Ledge at the time. Their Mascot was a Troll doll, and the name was Black Ledge. (Back in those days each Ledge had its own color scheme)

Someone who was a "spy" in the Black Ledge group gave the secret link to someone on the regular Ledge and posted it on the Main Ledge So everyone could read all the mean things being said. The Black Ledge was less an "alternate" ledge for discussion about Fleetwood Mac and was more a place to dig and poo on people on the Regular Ledge. I took screen shots of some of it before it was suddenly taken down when the Black Ledge owner realized people had found it. The things being said were making fun of people Body, Weight, Face, Spelling, there were "impersonations" with names similar to the Ledge user names and lots of meanness. It was BAD. I was 18 at the time, the Internet was "New" to a lot of us, and this was before CyberBullying was a "Thing" in the news. But it was cyberbullying. What was said really hurt a few people.

Back on the Main Ledge the owner Shut it down a while, I think a couple weeks, and the Black Ledge was taken down, moved or whatever when they realized they had a Spy playing both sides.

It was a different time for me for sure. I was a loner in High School and moved a lot, The Ledge and the Talk to Me Chat Room was a hangout and past time for me. It was really ALL I had for a while. That incident changed me and my outlook on life. I took it WAY too seriously, and learned that the Internet is NOT real life, and that the Anonymous nature of it all is dangerous. People say things they would not say in real life. Same holds true today, and perhaps even more so. Thing is there was NO excuse for what went down and the way the Black Ledge people behaved. ZERO excuse.

Happily, I the person who I think was more "hurt" found happiness and love and got a real life, meeting someone from the Ledge, sharing their common love for Stevie and Fleetwood Mac, and got married. Last I heard they had kids and farm and dont come here much, if at all. The other girl, who I had a crush on, left around 1998-99 and I lost track of completely.

A few years later, around 2002? I think. There was another big Blow up, some of the same people were involved. I think that after that I just stopped posting for many years, unless it was a big year. But I also went to College, found Sports, and friends, and didn't need to use The Internet as a crutch for not having a life.

Anyhow. This place does go in Cycles. It has for 20 years. Keeping it up and running is important though. There is a community here, and the historical aspect of searching for threads and Info help new fans discover things. We didnt have MP3s back then, and now if you want to know about the 2001 "My Heart", for example", you can find it here on the Ledge and learn about it, or "Call on me For Magic". If not for the Ledge we wouldnt know about those songs existence at all.

That was the second interation of the chat. The original was very archaic by internet standards. It crashed ALL the time. It was slow. And the odd thing about it was you could create any name you wanted when you connected. This meant that people would sometimes spoof names. Someone, I forget her name, would log in as Stevie and someone would log in as Stevie’s old assistant. And they would have conversations as those “characters”. Someone also pretended to be Barbara Nicks (Stevie’s Mom). I totally bought it. I was so dumb. As most 17 year olds are... I mean... kids that age are eating Tide Pods now.

I think that part of the reason that the exodus of 2007 happened is that people were getting permanently banned for having one strike even if they had gotten the strike years before then. The strikes were put in place after the Arizona Ranger wars of 2001/2002 then you needed 3 to be permanently banned .When that rule was suddenly changed and people were retroactively banned others also left in sympathy with them.

Mass exodus aside, none of them were are detrimental as the MONTH along inability to even access the pages themselves. This has gone on months. The casual browser of the site won’t wait around the minutes it takes just to check out a daily blurb or news story. Ain’t gonna happen. Look at how there are 100+ “guests” on the site NOW. That means people use this site and don’t post. They are likely downloading MP3s or learning about concerts or looking at the pictures fans share. That’s not gonna happen if The Ledge is inaccessible. I too missed the drama in 2007 because I had become a lurker after I “grew up” and stopping giving a Poop about what people say about me. I post my opinions and the. Do t reply to attacks on that opinion. If people don’t like what I think then Who cares. What annoys me is when people automatically HATE everything Stevie does after 1983 because she’s not young and fit and sounds like she did in 1983. That’s just dumb. If you don’t like her why call yourself a fan! LOL.

I lurked during the time of The Black Ledge. I was scared to join a forum/message board back then. Everyone seemed to know so much more than I did. All the drama made me even more frightened of joining. I only joined the Ledge to ask a question about Stevie's TISL tour... but then I kept posting.

I had a forum for a few years myself at my site. It was mostly for people who liked both Stevie and Lindsey, liked talking about their interactions as as couple, and got excoriated for that on the Ledge. We did branch out, though, talking about their solo careers and the Mac. It was pretty active for a couple years, from about 2002-2004. However, after the SYW tour ended, things died down. I closed it about ten years ago after I stopped updating regularly.

Seven Wonders.... yeah. I remember that.... the whole debacle with hiring Stevie really hurt that site, too, if I recall correctly.

I don't post regularly on here anymore simply because I'm older now and I have less time. Back in 1998, I was still in college, and I had just discovered the Mac. Now, I'm a full-time college professor teaching an overload. Things change. ****Holy crap, typing that made me feel old.****

Something that I came to understand a long time ago is that in her prime Stevie Nicks was the most charismatic American rock star since Jim Morrison ..IMO there is no way that she could have sustained that level of performance into middle age and beyond and neither could Morrison had he survived. Once I accepted that I was able to still get a lot of enjoyment out of her later work ad performances.

Dear lort... When we left in 2007, someone said(about someone else), "why does she have to be such a sandy c**t?" And I thought that was about the funniest name I'd ever heard(paints quite the visual in your mind, too). Soooo, my name on one of those replacement boards was Sandy C**t(with actual letters, not *s, because ANYTHING went on those boards).:wavey:
That's funny.

So one of the the members created another BBS (Ebullition Board System) identical to the Ledge at the time. Their Mascot was a Troll doll, and the name was Black Ledge. Ahhh, yes . . . I think I do remember the Black Ledge.

Someone who was a "spy" in the Black Ledge group gave the secret link to someone on the regular Ledge and posted it on the Main Ledge So everyone could read all the mean things being said.
Ahhhh, yes . . . I think it's coming back to me.

There was one instigator who was behind both groups, the horse's ass pic we all posted,...all of it! It took YEARS until they finally banned her from The Ledge. Her name starts with a C...The statute of limitations is up. It was Carrie, right?

She was a pistol — I liked her.

Until I found out that she and her cohorts were making fun of me in private.:lol:

I would imagine that we're seriously off topic by now.

She.... might..... have been behind most of the Ledge implosions. Directing. Producing. Puppeteering.

I have one good friend that is still good friends with her, so I'm trying to not outright call her what she is... Okay, I will. An evil genius. A complete instigator. A master manipulator.

And it was all fun and games until it felt like we were Nazis terrorizing the world. And then it was overload. It was a HUGE relief when she was finally banned from the Ledge.

She was funny, and very witty, BUT, she was also the one PMing us, getting us to put horse's asses as our signature pics, etc... She loved to stir the pot, and stir the pot from a hidden place. She also started the "other boards".

To John, I don't really remember WHY she was banned, other than it was pretty common knowledge that she was an instigator, and always toed the line of not getting banned. I think things got really stressful here one too many times, and Michele got her banned??? I'm not certain on that, but I THINK that's how it went down. Don't quote me. I don't think she ever got all three strikes, but I think her cover as master manipulator was blown, and it was time to just show her the door.

All that said, I LOVED what the Ledge used to be. circa 2006/7. It was kind of like FB, in that we were here all the time. But to me, the death of THAT Ledge all lies on the "supermod" of the time, Johnny Stew. That kid that posted here all day long, starting thread after thread on the same topic....everyone bitching about it.....no one could stand him.....and Johnny Stew told us all, "he can do whatever he wants. Complain about him, and you'll be given strikes". The situation would have taken care of itself eventually, but giving that kid carte blanche to annoy the F out of us for months on end, caused the other boards to start, and ended was what was(to me) the glory days of The Ledge.

One of the second lessons I learned about The Internet was that people could be false and crafty and say one thing to you in a Chat, say something completely different to someone else and watch and get satisfaction from seeing drama and chaos unfold. They also can create multiple screen names and log in from two machines at once in their home and carry on conversations posing as two different people. No learned all this the hard way. That’s why I only come here for news, links, discussion and NEVER for friends or to get to know anyone beyond a casual reply to a thread about FM. I’ve been coming here LITERALLY half my life. Actually... MORE!? Holy crap.

That's complete BS - I certainly could "stand" him. I think Johnny Stew is a great guy. It's impossible to be a moderator without pissing people off (I know that from experience), but he did his best, and he wasn't the completely unfair egomaniac you're portraying him to be. Gerald (shackin'up) is a very nice guy. I remember in Dallas on the SYW tour we were trying to get him down in front so he could get closer to Lindsey. I have met some fantastic people through this board. We've had so much fun at the shows and beyond through our mutual love of Fleetwood Mac.

He wasn’t saying people couldn’t stand Johnny Stew, it was this kid who annoyed EVERYBODY, and never really posted much about the band, IIRC. I’d successfully repressed all memory of that kid, but he was one of the few people I ever blocked. Johnny Stew, for whatever reason, wouldn’t ban the kid.

I apologize for not reading your post more carefully, and realizing that while you were criticizing both, your uglier statements were directed towards someone else.

As far as whether or not I "like" you - it's true I find your posts rather unpleasant to read when they contain such insults, even when they are directed at band members rather than fellow posters. (I do not have a problem with your posts that are not ugly, I should add.) Your statement about me was yet another unpleasant read.

Still, I don't keep an "enemies list" like some here. If I think I have something to add to a conversation, I reply. If I think a post is BS, I say so. I don't check who wrote it first.

Thus, I certainly do not intentionally misread your posts, or anyone else's.

IF IF IF CM did in fact keep Bob Welch out of the HOF, it made me lose a decent amount of respect for her. But she's still my favorite. But I guess I've always known that you don't F*CK with CM. You'll lose. Ask Bob.:(

Just my 2 cents; I am thrilled Carrie got booted from TL and still remember why. It had nothing to do with me but what I remember most about her is how from the day I joined until the day she was banned she was always rude to me. In private messages she was brutal.
Also it is obvious the new owner of TL is not interested in revealing him/herself nor is Michele ever going to tell us who it is.
We should all consider ourselves lucky that whomever the mystery person is, we are not being individually judged for our past transgressions.
It has been real nice seeing several people in this thread posting new thoughts. Shows me that even though they are not around on a regular basis, an interesting topic or thread makes it worth their time to check in once in a while.
And as I have stated before, a new album or new tour always brings people back to TL.

Wait.... what?? I missed this post earlier! I always suspected dissention had multiple user names on here, though! He was something else! I really liked that Stevie-Hold-Me-flinging-hair avatar he had. So appropriate.

Speaking of multiple user names, I remember when one guy, Carne Vaca, had two user names and accidentally posted as himself under the fake one, outing himself and getting banned as a result. Oops!

Also it is obvious the new owner of TL is not interested in revealing him/herself nor is Michele ever going to tell us who it is.
We should all consider ourselves lucky that whomever the mystery person is, we are not being individually judged for our past transgressions.

Interesting! Being a bit out of the loop, I assumed the new owner was simply running The Ledge as a for-profit enterprise (hence the ads) and did not frequent the board.

Shows me that even though they are not around on a regular basis, an interesting topic or thread makes it worth their time to check in once in a while.
And as I have stated before, a new album or new tour always brings people back to TL.
That certainly is the case for me.

... But in the end, she was truly a cancer on this site. Not everyone that got to see the evil that we did. She manipulated everybody.

I never thought of her as Snoke. I really must
have missed something.

While I'd never claim that she thought of me as
a friend, we did get along. What little we pm'd
each other was pleasant if I remember correctly.

I'll have to start paying attention.

Most people don't know, because the manipulation was all done in the dark, through private messages and the like.

The horse's ass pic... that was 100% her.

At first, her shtick was funny, until it became cruel. She was Hitler, taking over the ledge, through hate.

I danced in the street, the day she FINALLY got banned. I thought it would never happen.

The last time I saw her post was around the time when Christine won the Ivor Morello award. I hope she is doing great wherever she is.

Why is it impossible to embed videos in the Present Band section? It works in all the other sections of The Ledge. Are we being punished and forced to wear ash on our foreheads for the sake of Lindsey Buckingham?

It doesn’t work in the Christine McVie section either. Wonder if it takes up memory of something like that.

Also it is obvious the new owner of TL is not interested in revealing him/herself nor is Michele ever going to tell us who it is. I've been pondering the mysterious identity of the owner. I think it may be a hedge fund, or possibly a member of the Eagles. I shudder to think that it may be Jonathan Todd. If I had my druthers, it would be Nepotista or Lesley Thode.

She [Carrie] was funny, and very witty, BUT, she was also the one PMing us, getting us to put horse's asses as our signature pics, etc... She loved to stir the pot, and stir the pot from a hidden place. She also started the "other boards".
She and I shared a love of All Things H.W. Fowler. I think what cemented our friendship in those days was an interest in the syntactical and dictional grammars of Henry Sweet, Otto Jespersen, and George Curme, and following that lexicographical progression all the way to the transformational-generative grammars of Chomsky and Randolph Quirk.

God bless her, that little dickens!

The only thing contributing to the decline of this site are the a-hole personalities of certain people on this thread, who have always been super critical of band members in the beginning, but now with recent developments within the band and LB, nastiness has turned into hate. I unfortunately became a part of it in a few posts, but needless to say nobody on here has anything nice to say anymore. I still love the music and the people involved with it despite what has been happening. I still listen to the music and I would still support them in their live endeavors. They are in their later years of life and I'm not going to waste an opportunity to sit behind a screen and bemoan everyone and everything about this band, and the people on this forum who are beyond bitter and resentful, despite their self-righteous reasons and beliefs as to why they are right over everyone else on here.

Some people on here really need to get a life, and I visit this board less frequently now because of the lack of civility brought forth by the members.
