She says Lindsey likes to leave at 7pm and it's one of the reasons they fight. Um Stevie...I'd be annoyed too!!!!

I'd love for her to know how much ~SO MANY~ people's opinion of her have changed over the years...that she's a delusional loon.

But I'm sure she doesn't care, as she's her own biggest fan.

He was THROWN Down once again by her in the media.

She called him MR. USELESS. Does she realize that it's NOT really funny when we all know she has real issues with Lindsey. It's very passive aggressive to try to paint it as a joke.

Her immaturity as an adult goes along with her constant reminder to us and the world of her entitlement. We owe her. She's Stevie Nicks.

I thought this same thing. He's said in the past that it's different with Stevie because she doesn't play an instrument etc. Imagine if he was like "Stevie just sings she's basically Miss Useless in the studio and in preparing the live shows..". Chiffons would spin everywhere!

It's total passive aggressive behavior by her and it, like her, has gotten old. She has to be a total nightmare to work with if you're Lindsey (not that he doesn't have his own ability to be annoying). The rehearsal time comment is just ridiculous. Get over yourself.

The "MR Useless" phrase is about her getting a job in 73 or whenever... while Lindz woked on becoming a better guitarist. It's not a reference to him now in the least. Watch the video. It's around the 5 min mark.

Right. I knew exactly what she was referencing. You have to read between the lines. Calling him Mr. Useless under the guise of referencing his inability to contribute to their ability to eat and pay the rent nearly 45 years ago is just another way for her to take a jab at him.

Agree about the bitterness - it is pretty sad.

I really doubt that Lindsay cares one bit about Stevie calling him Mr. Useless when describing their life in 1973. I mean, does anyone really thinks he gives a comment like that a second thought? Not making excuses for her, but this is an example of fans being more upset than Lindsay. Besides, if she really felt that way at the time, then her stupid comment says a lot more about her for staying with him.

Now if she had used that term in the present tense, I would think it a much bigger deal and could see why people would be offended for Lindsay.

Thanks for the encouragement, Elle! I remain on the fence, but I am much more likely to go to this venue because, even though Northfield/Cleveland is further away from me than Dayton was, I have a lot of friends there, so it would actually be easier on me. And it's a Friday. And it's their second leg, which means a second chance. If my friend up there says he'll go, then it's on; if he doesn't, we'll see. He's going to let me know by this weekend if he can go. I'm glad you're going. My friend didn't elaborate, but he said it's a decent venue.

She called him that because he refused to get a job other than working on music. Put yourself in her place. You are a 20 something year old female singer trying to break into the big leagues. Your boyfriend sits at home all day long and plays guitar while you are out working and paying the bills. Yeah...I dont think anyone on this board would appreciate that...and I also think that the language that would be used by them about their partner would be a lot more harsh than Mr. Useless.

But, go ahead, crucify her as usual. We all know Lindsey had a very spoiled upbringing. Has he ever had a real job? He has slapped her, thrown his guitar at her on stage, told her what to wear on stage and what not to wear. But she is the bitch here. Whatever....

except that's not true, according to other people who were there. it's just Stevie's convenient story.

and he has always been classy about it and let her get away with telling that story, as he does.

her story was he worked as a telemarketer one day and got immediately fired. their friends' stories talk about him making money for them by painting houses for people. and of course as a session musician. something she couldn't do since she had no such skills.

So, if ok to call someone you have known for more than 50 years "useless" because he supposedly refused to get a job other than working on music? Why didn't she work on music too? Oh, right..... !

You don't know if anyone on this board hadn't live that situation, and she could have easily gone back to her Daddy, one of the big heads on Greyhound, and back to school.

Both had very spoiled upbringing. Don't put her here as a martyr who had to struggle to make ends meet, because we all know it was not the case. It was not as if she had no choice. She refused to take them because she didn't want to study and it was easier to dance and sing.

I think it is pathetic to try to read something into this that isnt there. If they were that much at each others throats, I dont think that we would be hearing about a tour in 2018 at all. I, for one, hope it doesnt even happen. I do not think that Lindsey has the vocal chops anymore to tour. I would prefer to have Stevie solo anyway.

I agree. Also, I think it's sad that people can't handle what was clearly said as a joke. I'm sure it's nothing that Lindsey hasn't heard already. We see MINUTES of their lives and it's ridiculous to dissect every little word they say about each other and think we have any clue about their relationship.

how long was Stevie a waitress??

She didn't last very long as a "cleaning lady" nor did she do a very good job (unless you ask her). She also worked as a dental assistant and had to quit after like 3 days because she couldn't take the strain of leaning over. (her words).

So I think she should be very careful about the term "useless".

In the Sound City documentary she reads a letter she wrote to her family during the making of the Buckingham Nicks record. In it she says she's "getting tired of being in the studio making music 12 hours a day". Really? You're making your first album, your dream, and you're tired of it?

Remember this is the girl who said joining FM was "like joining the Army" and you have to be "on time, as on time as you can be" and "there's no calling in sick". I was always somewhat sympathetic about all that because it's hard when you get no downtime to chill out. But as I got older and wiser I realized, there was clearly plenty of time to par-tay, she made sure of that. Some of the Mac performances reflect it.

Now, over time she does seem to have embraced the work ethic and became a workhorse. To the point that it now seems like she's so built her life around work that she can't give it up.

But back in the day, I'd say "useless" was a word that cut both ways. Listen to her demo of Rhiannon (which I love) and then listen to the version that went out into the world.......and think about "useless"......:sorry:

She breaks my heart. She really truly does.:(

Very valid point. If you're talking about personal relationship especially. But they use the press to air their frustrations with each other professionally and always have. So while I agree we definitely don't get to see the TOTALITY of their working relationship, we do get glimpses of it. And when you have seen enough glimpses over 40 years and there's a real consistency to those comments, you can, I think, draw at least a few valid conclusions from them.

In a recent print interview (maybe it was the transcript from this interview without editing? can't recall) she said "I work with Lindsey when I have to." And other than that they don't see each other, because he's got his family commitments and she doesn't.

Interesting choice of words. "when I have to". Not, "I see Lindsey when we work together in FM but otherwise we don't see each other socially coz he has kids blah blah blah"

Not "we see each other when FM gets together"

Rather, "I work with him when I have to". As in, when I have to go out on the mega cash-grab tours. (Does this mean she doesn't want to do them but feels she owes it to other band members like Mick and John??) I mean, if she doesn't enjoy them, why do them????

Does she do them because she likes being one of the only 70-ish female rockers still out there drawing big crowds? Does she do them because she likes being part of a band that still can compete with other mega bands still touring?

We assume she doesn't like recording with him, so she's stopped doing it. He's clearly, by comments from almost everyone in the band, become the director of their live shows, the musical director, etc etc.... so it sounds like he has as much control over live shows as he does in the studio, so how is it ok to tour with him but not record?

It all seems too contradictory, unless you go back to the ego thing. If the tours are mega successful, she'll put up with him. If the albums were still selling mega numbers and they were having hit singles, my bet is she'd be right there recording as well.

"I will always be that gypsy"

Stellar August 13, 2017 Sunday, StellarVIC Edition

Byline: TIFFANY BAKKER

Between Fleetwood Mac and her solo career, Stevie Nicks is one of the bestselling artists of all time. And in the lead-up to a new Australian tour - and her 70th birthday - she is showing no signs of slowing down Every night before she goes onstage, Stevie Nicks has a longstanding ritual. "I make my little mix tapes, and I play them and I twirl around and dance my way through three hours of make-up and getting ready," the rock legend tells Stellar, adding that her current playlist features Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez.

"I like to keep up with what's current and, honestly, if I wasn't touring I would still be listening to music and dancing around my house." When Stellar speaks to the Fleetwood Mac icon it's close to midnight, but Nicks - a lifelong insomniac - is right in the middle of her day.

"It's the best part and most zen part of my whole day," Nicks says, adding that she stays up "writing in my journal - poetry, songs, movie ideas, anything".

"It's peaceful because everybody is asleep except you. It's when I feel the most creative and also my most calm." At 69 (she'll turn 70 next May), Nicks's frantic itinerary is enough to make any average person want to lie down.

In the three weeks before meeting with Stellar, she's pinballed between a solo gig in France, a massive Hyde Park show in London with her old musician mate Tom Petty, a Los Angeles stadium concert with Fleetwood Mac, a 70th birthday show in Texas for another good friend (and former flame), Don Henley of the Eagles, and now she's in New York where she'll play another stadium gig with Fleetwood Mac.

"Sometimes I would like a serious vacation, you know, like two months in Hawaii with my dog, because at times you feel like you hit a wall," she admits.

"But there is always going to be that knock on the door and I'm always going to be called back to one of the two big things in my life, which is basically either Fleetwood Mac or my solo career." But even after her phenomenal success (between them both she's sold some 140 million records, making her one of the bestselling artists of all time), Nicks still has a compulsion to work as hard as ever. She's also been open in the past about choosing her art over getting married and having a family.

"I have a love of music that goes far beyond what I do onstage," she says. Like the title of one of her most famous songs, 'Gypsy', Nicks got a taste of the nomadic life early on when her father would move the family around with his work, and decades later the lifestyle still suits her.

"I could roll with that. I was able to go into new schools and make new friends. My brother, on the other hand, didn't cope with it so well," she recalls.

"So the thing is, am I still that gypsy? Well, I was always that gypsy." In recent years, her life has been split between her solo tours and Fleetwood Mac's massive touring commitments. But returning to Fleetwood Mac, one of music's most dysfunctional families, comes with its own issues.

"Compromise with Fleetwood Mac has always been an ongoing challenge because we seldom agree on anything," Nicks confirms.

"Everybody has a big, huge opinion and you make your choice - is it worth fighting about? Is it worth throwing the next two days of rehearsals away because everybody is pissed off? Or is it worth fighting for something you believe in? It's like being a politician in a lot of ways; you have to choose your battles, and sometimes you have to let things go even when you don't want to." These days, the singer says her relationships with her famous band mates Christine McVie ("Chris and I have been the best of girlfriends since the day I joined Fleetwood Mac"), John McVie ("I adore him") and Mick Fleetwood ("I'm godmother to his daughters") will go beyond whenever it is that Fleetwood Mac ends.

But her friendship with former love and musical collaborator Lindsey Buckingham remains tricky. The pair met while they were both at high school in California and formed musical duo Buckingham Nicks in 1972, before joining Fleetwood Mac three years later. Their combustible relationship, particularly leading up to the legendary 1977 album Rumours, spurned hits such as 'Go Your Own Way', 'Dreams' and 'Landslide'.

"Lindsey and I never see each other. He has a family - a wife and children - and I do not have a husband or children. I mean, it's just a different world," she says.

"The thing is, I work with Lindsey when we have to work together, but his whole deal is very different than mine. He has to leave at 7pm at night to get home and have dinner with his children, and then he has to get up early with them.

"Like, are you kidding? I don't even get up until 3pm and he wants me at rehearsal at 2pm? No, our lives are so diametrically opposed. So that's kind of where our relationship is." Recently, Nicks has been enjoying touring with Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders, and will bring the tour to Australian shores in November.

The two icons, surprisingly, had never even met before making the decision to tour together.

"The first time I met Chrissie, I was playing a show at this big arena, and my hair was in rollers and I was wearing these big black glasses, being driven around on a golf cart. And she saw me and started laughing, and I said, 'I know, I look ridiculous - I am ridiculous,' and she said, 'No, you look like Elizabeth Taylor. I'm touring with Elizabeth Taylor.'" And Nicks, who has been a frequent visitor to Australia, can't wait to return. "I always have a really good time [in Australia] because it's a very special place and I have really great friends there, and it's very different from the United States," she says.

"It's a friendlier place and it reminds me of how the US used to be. And with everything that's going on in the political landscape right now, it'll be nice to go to Australia and get out of here for a while." She has also been enjoying the tour because it's given her the luxury of performing some rare solo songs and some newer material she's either never or rarely performed.

"I've had to wait until I'm in my sixties to play some of these songs," she says with a laugh.

"And I'm so pleased because it's that that makes me want to continue to tour. If I have to go out there and do the same songs every single time I go on the road, it gets boring and it's not very creative after a while." One hit she does perform is the 1986 classic 'Stand Back', which originally featured her friend Prince on keyboards.

"Prince spent a lot of time worrying about me," she remembers. "Our friendship was kind of odd; we didn't see each other that often, but when we did we really were musically very tight. But he was always worried about my drug habits; he always thought I was going to have an accidental drug overdose and die." When Nicks was struggling with addiction, she recalls Prince coming to visit her with little care packages.

She's previously said that she spent "millions" on cocaine in the '70s and '80s and also had an eight-year addiction to prescription drug Klonopin, until eventually getting clean in 1994.

"There would be cough medicine for my throat, but he would only let me have a spoonful. I'd be like, 'Chill out, my friend, I can have another one,' and he'd say, 'I did not come here to start new drug habits for you.'" Sixteen months later, and Nicks is still grieving over Prince's death. "The fact that my friend, who was so anti-drugs, is not here is so disturbing to me. I miss him." When it comes to herself, Nicks is not one for reflection and finds the idea of being referred to as an icon almost absurd. "It's really nice to know and people tell me that, and I feel a great amount of pride, but at the same time that person - basically the person I am onstage except in much better clothes and much better hair and with heels on - is really the same person I am sitting here right now," she says.

"I'm pretty much the same person that I've always been. I'm nice part of the time and irritated part of the time; that's really who I am, and I've never changed since I joined Fleetwood Mac." When Nicks surveys the music industry landscape today, she reckons it's become difficult for emerging artists.

"You have one big song and you better follow it up, because they will just find somebody who is younger and cuter than you are." "It's a battle," she continues. "And I don't know what I would do if I was 21 and in their position. The only thing you can say is that Lindsey and I really believed that we were very good and that we were really, really special.

We just believed in ourselves and we believed that what we had to offer the world was really spectacular. It sounds conceited but it wasn't. We just weren't going to give up." She also has concerns with the lack of control musicians today have over their own work.

"I love a lot of current music, but a lot of these artists are being told what to do by producers and the record companies. You know, their songs are all starting to sound very much the same to me, and that bothers me because I think, 'I really like that song, but the production sounds just like the production on the song before it and that's kind of a turn-off.'" She remains optimistic, though.

"I love Harry Styles; he's so cute and charming and I think he can do anything he sets his mind to. And there's a Fleetwood Mac and a Led Zeppelin out there somewhere.

Whether or not they'll ever be able to rise to the top is the question, because the industry slaps them down, but my advice would be to any musician is just don't give up. Believe in yourself." With that, she gets set to go back to her evening, but sleep is still a while off.

"I have this thing, like between 3am and 5am, when it starts to get light and it's really beautiful, and I just sit there and I drink tea and I read Vogue and I just look out and think, 'Why would I want to be asleep right now? Why would I want to miss out on all of this beauty?'"Stevie Nicks's 24 Karat Gold Tour with special guests The Pretenders comes to Australia in November. Tickets go on sale August 18; livenation.com.au.

except that's not true, according to other people who were there. it's just Stevie's convenient story.

and he has always been classy about it and let her get away with telling that story, as he does.

her story was he worked as a telemarketer one day and got immediately fired. their friends' stories talk about him making money for them by painting houses for people. and of course as a session musician. something she couldn't do since she had no such skills.

Yes, in that one Warren Zevon book they said that when Lindsey got the offer from Mick Fleetwood he was making $400 a week playing on tour and the guy didn't know why Lindsey would consider joining the Mac because his tour haul seemed like so much money to them, back then.

the fundamental problem is people don't want to ever admit their heroes have flaws. So when flaws are pointed out, they lash out at whoever points them out. It's the old "shoot the messenger" thing.

I love Stevie. I have loved her since the 70s. Barely a day goes by that I don't listen to her music, which I love. I also think for a long time she did indeed get a hard time from Lindsey and I admired her for not saying in the press the reality of what (I believe) happened at times with him.

That said, she has indeed changed over recent years. This isn't shocking, I mean everyone grows and changes over their life. It would be totally effed up if she was EXACTLY the same person she was ten years ago, let alone 30 or 40 years ago. We grow. We change how we feel about things. We soften on some things and we harden on some things.

If we accept that she's not a total pathological liar and actually believe her in some of what she's said recently (not just the Oz interview), she's now in the mindset that it's not worth recording with FM ever again, that she only wants to work with Lindsey when she "has to", she finds FM tours a bit boring and not creatively fulfilling, yet she will still do them because they sell well and make money. Records don't so the strain of making them (with FM/LB) is no longer worth it to her. She's a legend. Hoteliers in Italy need to frame her words because they are so spectacular, etc etc.

Look, she's pushing 70. She's done it all a million times. She knows what she wants and knows who she is and when you get older you get a bit crankier and more set in your ways. Whatever she says about Lindsey changes depending on what day it is, what their last interaction was, etc etc.

These are her foibles. They might disappoint you, but they are part of who she is now. Maybe she was always like this and we just never saw it. Or maybe it's age. Who knows. But lashing out at people who are only commenting on her own words and expressing how those words make them feel won't change reality.

As far as I'm concerned, Lindsey, Stevie and Mick are SPOILED BRATS. John and Chris are the only level headed thing about Fleetwood Mac. I've supported this band emotionally and financially for the better part of 40 years. But if Stevie (The High Priestess) and Lindsey (The Tortured Genius) can't manage to come to a compromise regarding a studio recording schedule, they are venturing dangerously close to no one giving a damn.

Seriously? Stevie Nicks can't be bothered to get out of bed before 3PM to get her a** into the studio? She would only need to "adjust her schedule" for about 8 weeks to lay down some vocals on songs that have already been arranged. How does Christine put up with these two?

Lindsey and Stevie--most working Americans can hardly relate to your woes! Get the f**k over it, stop being a wuss, and get to work like the rest of us. We're supposed to spend our hard earned dollars on your childish whims. I think not. Grow up!

It's not that Stevie won't record with the band because she likes to sleep until 3pm. She recorded FM, Rumours, Tusk, Tango, Behind the Mask, and Say You Will with them, so that's not the issue. She doesn't want to record with Lindsay, that's all. Unfortunate, but true. So people express their anger or frustration by 'joking around' on here with unnecessary comments. Yes, I totally agree with this. I love Stevie, too; people change. I know she said that her #1 priority was FM, but this apparently has changed. I hate to see people bash her. If she choses to leave the band & do her own thing, so be it.

At the time, yeah, maybe she thought Lindsey was "Mr. Useless". I'm sure she doesn't think so now. They were really young then. She felt he should just stay put & work on the music while she was the breadwinner.

So in conclusion, I'm just saying, yeah, people have a right to their opinion about Stevie, but the bad stuff they say it is hurtful to her & her fans.

I think most of us know that everyone has flaws, including Stevie and every single member of this band. People on here who like Stevie and her solo work just get fed up with the regular trashing of her and her fans.

It is ok for us to attempt to get across out point of view, just once in a while.

I agree there is no need to trash a poster for his/her opinions if you disagree with them.... just disagree with their opinion. We can disagree without being disagreeable.

I'm a Stevie fan, so if anyone thinks I'm a twit, so be it.

I'm also majorly just a fan of the entire BAND... I have and will continue to see all of them solo and in whatever configuration the band is at any point in time.

I think there is a bit of snobbery among those who are fans of the band towards those who really are only fans of one individual member, i.e. those who would not go see FM if their favorite member was not there (be that Stevie, Lindsey, or Christine). I think it strikes some people as odd those fans would come into this, the BAND forum, and then get upset at what they read, rather than just go to the forum dedicated to their favorite member. If anyone is totally in love with one particular band member, that's great, and there are places where you can marinate in all that love and never hear a bad word. In the band forum, where people talk about ALL the members of the band --- good AND bad, annoying AND endearing traits-- you might hear comments that aren't so flattering about the band member you adore. Especially in times like this, where people feel somewhat ripped off if you like at not seeing all the promise that came with Christine's return being fulfilled.

Stevie said forever how much she missed Christine and would love for her to come back. Well, finally she did..... and Stevie did what feels like a 180 and said "I'm not interested in working on new stuff with FM after all". Does she have this right? Absolutely. Do people feel she's responsible for squashing the dream of the return of the 5? Indeed they do. It isn't really anything to do with does she have the right to do what makes her happy. It's more about the TIMING. Like, "really, you're going to play that card NOW??"

She adds insult to injury when she piles on comments like finding FM tours boring, and working with Lindsey when she "has to" and whatnot. Do we know all the behind-the-scenes drama that may be contributing to this? No.

People need to be able vent their frustration and dashed hopes about the band with others who share that pain. That shouldn't mean bashing other people......but this being The Ledge..... a few digs here and there are pretty tame.

I disagree with most opinions on this thread and take issue with the hateful, often misogynist language used about Stevie. She acted like a professional at the classic shows while Lindsey acted like a child, trashing it in advance in the media and physically showing his immaturity during the shows. So maybe it's all a wash.

well let's not go down that road of comparing one show and saying it's representative of how either of them behaves all the time, because there are certainly examples where the opposite was true. So in the end, you're right, it's a wash.

Again I would suggest that it's not necessarily Stevie saying she doesn't want to record, it's the timing of her behavior.... it seems to contradict much of what she said during all the years Chris was gone. Her current attitude simply does not reflect that of the woman who said she'd offered Chris $5million dollars to come back.

But calling people who post here 'pathetic' is crossing the line- the rules say not to do that, so I don't understand why the moderators haven't intervened.

The 'pathetic' comment wasn't aimed at somebody in particular, just some fans (not all of them) who have a very narrow vision about Stevie. And I wasn't talking only about this forum.

I was also called 'honey', a mysoginist comment, if that makes you feel better. And I didn't complain at all.

People need to be able vent their frustration and dashed hopes about the band with others who share that pain. That shouldn't mean bashing other people......but this being The Ledge..... a few digs here and there are pretty tame.

I think everyone is ok with a few digs, and being critical of band members and disagreeing.

But some of us are talking about something else...

So I have a request... can the posters who on a daily basis use hateful language towards Stevie fans please refrain from doing so. These posts aren't being moderated which some of us don't understand, but according to the rules of the board these kind of posts are not allowed.

To continually ridicule and make it clear that you despise a large section of this board, makes it toxic and bitchy in the Rumours forum much of the time. It doesn't seem fair on the thousands of members, many of whom are Stevie fans.

Of course it's ok to criticize any band member, but using hateful, misogynistic language, and regularly slagging off a large proportion of board members just isn't ok

I agree re: going down the road. But that's not what I was doing. I was pointing out that Stevie said in one interview the thing about 3 pm and Lindsey was kind of an ass at the classic shows and therefore I consider all of this to be a wash based one time incidents during what is clearly a tense time for FM.

You make a good point re: Stevie's remarks re: Christine. However, perhaps she really just meant that she'd like Christine back for the tours. And nothing has changed - they had the On With the Show tour and they will go on the 2018 tour. I don't believe Stevie ever said anything about wanting to record, but I could be wrong.

people knowing exactly how Stevie feels and that she's just fine? wonder when they last talked to her. you know, we all thought someone like Chris Cornell was doing great, or at least was just fine. :distress:

it's interesting how we can have guys calling a woman misogynist, and then turning around and being completely misogynist towards another woman, isn't it? i think that's a part about SN's fandom that really bothers me, as a woman. you can't put one woman on a pedestal and say that everything everybody says against her is misogynist, while at the same time trashing majority of other women.

honey is far from a misogynist statement. It might be condescending, but it expresses no HATE towards women which is what misogyny actually means.

check for yourself. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/misogyny

The (Etymological) Roots of misogyny
Misogyny may be distinguished from the closely related word sexism, which signifies discrimination based on sex (although it most frequently refers to discrimination against women) and also carries the meaning “behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on sex.”

Misogyny refers specifically to a hatred of women. The word is formed from the Greek roots misein (“to hate”) and gynē (“woman”). Each of these roots can be found in other English words, both common and obscure. Gynē helped to form gynecologist and androgynous, and misein can be found in such words as misoneism (“a hatred, fear, or intolerance of innovation or change”) and misandry (“a hatred of men”).

oh i agree! the same as most of the stuff said against SN's behavior / statements is not misogynist either - and yet people love to throw that word around if anybody states anything against her.

if i just look through this thread, there were at least 4-5 condescending comments directed just at me - let alone Ana and others. and although i try, many times i can't resist replying to those - if someone's condescending to me, they might get a reply! then probably someone else will say i'm bickering against them.

Stevie is ridiculous (she even said so herself) and definitely says ridiculous things, and has done for years. Lindsey at times can be a complete ass - like when he looked as though he wanted to rip the head off the stage technician at the Classic East (it was a bit more than jumping up and down). They both have their problems.

How about we stop fighting over who is best, who is right etc, who is to blame? Maybe the Ledge would come to a standstill?? ;):distress:

People defend Stevie and get upset about others going after her like she's their mother. This is because Stevie fans are generally the outcasts and sort of emo kids in high school. They are obsessed with the whole witch thing and relate to it because they are into weird emo crap like that themselves. They have no companions in their life besides internet friends they've met on sites like Tumblr so they must look up to a musician and defend her like they persoanally know her. Don't @ me

Just to give you an example - I'm a Stevie fan and got into FM as my parents bought the greatest hits album when I was 13 years old (nearly 30 years ago!). I've not heard of the term emo kid until tonight, I definitely don't see her as my mother, and don't use tumbler or much other social media. And I do have companions. Maybe I'm a rare Stevie fan

the thing is - you can't throw in she-does-this / he-does-this and then expect no reply when you are really calling for it!

does Lindsey have a temper which these days manifests about once per tour on stage when something is not going right? sure. is he an ass for that? maybe. i guess you don't get mad that easily, or in his case when something that should go a certain way, in front of 1000s of people watching, is not. back in 2012 he threw a guitar on stage when something was off at his Santa Cruz show. people who were there said he was seriously mad. then he stopped, collected himself, and made a self-deprecating joke...(it's on youtube, something like "i was gonna play this guitar, but now i guess i'm not!" - something to that effect.) it was interesting to watch. I tell ya, if it was the guitar tech he was mad at....he PAYS that guy to make sure every guitar is tuned and ready for the next song(because Lindsey does use different tunings). So yeah, if the guy f*cked up, and tuned it wrong, or handed him the wrong(ly tuned) guitar, I'd be pissed, too.

What? I doubt that Stevie fans are walking clichés. I don't find myself in anything you wrote and I know some other fans - noone is like that at all. also - Stevie fans certainly don't buy into the whole witch thing - that was something for a few people who knew nothing about her some 40 years ago and is therefor still picked up by mediocre reporters who do not do their homework. I love Stevie since 1979, but her solo albums and her reckless comments about FM/LB, her always being the victim puts me off since TOSOTM. Since that time, I actually have motherly feelings for HER, annoyance mixed with love, she rarely still enthralles me, but more and more often, she is just irritating like a stubborn child.

His comments in the media beforehand, his behavior during GYOW, not looking at Stevie during the song. Not that he's required to look at her but he was clearly peeved and didn't act professional.

I also noticed what seemed like Lindsay going out of his way to avoid looking at Stevie during GYOW, but I don't read too much into it. At work, and I know this is a crazy comparison since I'm not a famous musician, I have some great friends but sometimes we have a professional disagreement and go to a meeting and we might give each other the cold shoulder, but then we get over it, and no one else notices it. But then again, no one is recording us and watching us over and over again. If they did, they would likely notice a little tension between us. So even though I felt like Lindsay was po'ed at Stevie based on that performance, there were clearly other things going on there, too.

I think he was mostly peeved that whoever was supposed to make sure his monitors were turned up to where he wanted them wasn't paying attention so they could have fixed them the first time he signaled that they weren't right. The more times he has to go to the side and try and get someone's attention, and the longer the problem goes unfixed, the madder he gets. And rightfully so. Like someone said, people get PAID to be on top of that stuff throughout a show. It's one thing if the sound is wonky or too low, and he signals you and you fix it. It's another thing if he's in the middle of his biggest hit at a huge festival and you aren't at your post or aren't paying attention and don't fix it so he has to go through the entire second half of the song with it all effed up. That's just falling asleep at your post.

All I can say is that I hope she stays in bed, so we get more BuckVie. I'm totally taken with this new record. I love every song on it!! It's just getting better and better for me with each listen. So thanks Christine ****ing McVie and Mr. Useless for giving us these new songs and the tour showcasing them!!! :xoxo::xoxo::xoxo::xoxo::xoxo::xoxo::xoxo:

I was there. After Landslide he hugged her and I'm almost sure (not that I care) that he kissed her. I have pics if you want to see them.

And yes, he doesn't have to look at her during GYOW just because she's looking at him. She didn't even sing the lyrics for many, many years.

She didn't want to be near him for the bows. I also have the video of that moment, if you want to see it. She opted to stay near Christine. He was looking at her waiting for her, and she chose to stay on the other side.

not sure it was a tantrum... it was trying to get someone's attention while still trying to perform the song at his usual level.

and elle, if you can point me to that video of him tossing the guitar onstage in his solo show and then re-composing himself, I'd love to see it!

i'm searching but can't find it... i think it was Santa Cruz Rio theatre, OMS tour in 2012, and i think it was right before NGBA because guitar he threw looked kinda like his BL guitar but was actually the one he uses for NGBA. there's no video of him actually throwing it, but there was one of him composing himself, and making fun on his own account while introducing the next song (NGBA i guess? not sure).

yeah re getting someone's attention to fix what didn't work while still trying to perform. but that's apparently not professional enough for some people - don't you know it, according to these people he's unprofessional since his first priority should have been to look back at Stevie, instead of trying to actually do the show!

EDIT: not Santa Cruz, must have been Carmel. still looking...

As to the original thread topic, I think Stevie's getting out of bed comment has been blown way out of proportion. She wasn't complaining about Lindsey not waiting around all night, or even blaming the lack of FM album on that, she was simply showing how their lives are totally different now -- he eats dinner at home with his family, she stays up and watches the sun rise when everyone is asleep. They have different lifestyles and generally don't get along so why bother forcing something?

Regarding the vitriol towards Stevie fans, I think that one user a few pages back nicely proved the point... Trolling Stevie fans as emo kids obsessed with witches is unnecessarily inflammatory. It would be cool if we could just have discussions about the band we all love!

I for one find it amazing that all the band members seem to find a balance between classic songs and new/different songs outside of FM yet they all play the same songs at every show with FM. Clearly everyone is fed up with doing the same songs. I imagine the three songwriters each feel they have certain hits that they must play and then once those are all in, there's no room for anything else.

that post was nasty and trolling, and lindsey fans were calling it out as such, even before stevie fans.

but that's a single example. you can see dozens of JohnL posts spinning pretty out of control - although luckily never reaching the nastiness of that single post by AlexB, or if they did those posts were removed.

however - that nasty post proves exactly the opposite of your point, i think - how much stevie defenders normally overreact to the smallest criticism of her and start calling others trolls and haters for no real reason. it would be cool if we could have discussions about the band we love - without unnecessarily calling each other trolls.

She says Lindsey likes to leave at 7pm and it's one of the reasons they fight. Um Stevie...I'd be annoyed too!!!!

Unfortunately I can't view the article as you have to be a subscriber to the Daily Terror or the Daily Murdoch Spin Machine to see it.

But from what I've read in the thread (I read very little) Stevie likes to rehearse late as she is a night owl who has frequently stated publicly she likes to go to bed at 5 am and get up at 1 pm. So by 3 pm she has only been awake for two hours and has plenty of energy and is still fully pumped at 7 pm when Lindsey wants to go home to his family.

Maybe if she bothered to write some new songs and do studio work Lindsey and the others wouldn't mind staying until 9 pm?

Just stirring the pot, don't mind me.

Know who's a troll? That Stevie Nicks. She's one!

It was I who said that. Makes me very curious if that was FM's regular monitor guy, or just some schmo that was working for the P.A. company.

If it was their regular guy, I'm sure he got a reprimand at the least, and walking papers at the most.

(that's usually my job, btw, when I'm working a concert)

In this article she explicitly says that she does not get out of bed until 3. Not 1-- 3 PM. In my opinion, that is absolutely ridiculous. I don't care if she's always been a 'night owl'. That's an abnormal schedule and a ridiculous excuse (not a health problem, not because she has any other obligation, just because she likes staying up late and getting up late) for any working environment and it should not be acceptable.

While I rarely take up for Stevie anymore, it is Rock'n Roll after all.

Mr. Presley certainly had odd hours for recording sessions.

Exactly! You could get up once in a while at 3 pm, but every day?

Just say you don't want to work with Lindsey (and by association, with Christine) anymore. It would save a lot of discussions. I'm sure they won't bother her anymore. They're already talking about a second BM album, so we have to guess a FM album is a dead topic for them.
